Pros:It was close to the airport.
Cons:This place was $50 a night for a hard bed, no air conditioning, thin walls and a very sketchy neighborhood. They also charged us for the breakfast that was supposed to be free, charged us USD for water in the room that has a price listed in Sols. Finally they charged us $20 USD for transportation from the airport, which was a total rip off. The same taxi ride in Cusco from the airport to a hotel that was about the same distance for only 10 Sols! Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.
Pros:I had to bridge some time with my family between flights in Lima but didn't have time (or need!) to go to the touristy places. For that, Padama is an excellent choice: Very friendly and helpful staff, safe place inside, excellent rooms with everything one needs, nice beds, nice warm showers. A bit Spartan but complete and warm breakfast (on top 6th flow with nice view). Staff helped to get my laundry done for a few bucks.
Cons:Even though it is about 1km from airport, can't find a taxi taking you there below S/45. (Hotel helps with return to airport for S/30.) The neighborhood would look very poor by US-standards. It's probably working class people focused on raising their families and relatively save as that. But I would definitely "stick out" as a gringo, so I would not advise running around the neighborhood gratuitously, and definitely not at night. Let the friendly staff call you a taxi. Considering its distance from downtown or tourist areas, this is not a good base to visit Lima. As most places in South America, wifi is weak. We slept well, but the noise in the open staircase can propagate the whole place at times when people check in. (No elevators! But staff helps with luggage.)
Pros:I had an eleven hour layover at LIM airport and decided to stay at Padama. The shuttle service, $20 USD, was well worth the price for the convenience and stress free experience. You are given more than you deserve when paying $30 or less a night for a room. Breakfast is included (eggs, bread, coffee, and a juice concoction). There is no elevator, but the staff will carry your bags up the stairs for you (there are 6 stories). My room had no AC, but I slept well with the provided fan. It was only 70 degree highs when I visited in May. If you are looking for amenities such as an iron board, fast wifi, business center, etc., stay at one of the airport hotels. Bring a wash cloth as none are provided, but towels are. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay and would stay here again.
