Pros:We needed a clean and comfortable place to crash after a long day of hiking and beaches, and that's what we found at the Acorn Inn.
Cons:It would be nice to have two pillows per guest. Overall, this stay met our needs. I would be amiss if I didn't mention the most shady place to park on the lot is in the northwest corner near some shrubs. Plan on taking your vehicle to the car wash if you choose to park here, however, as the seagulls conduct their morning business directly above. (Part of the PNW charm, of course)

Pros:Complimentary breakfast (bakery and coffee), free internet access, good price for a 2-queen room, convenient location for visiting Whidbey island.
Cons:Nothing really. It is perfectly fine.

Pros:The Acorn was spotlessly clean and neat. The staff was friendly, helpful and the price was very reasonable. I booked online so I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Acorn exceeded my expectations (based on reviews), sight unseen. Our stay for 3 nights was comfortable, clean and affordable. The Acorn is comparable to local chain hotels minus the frills such as hair dryer, swimming pool, fitness room and lavish continental breakfast. If these amenities are a "must" during your stay then it is best to book a local chain hotel as opposed to a motor inn. Additionally, the Acorn's location was convenient to sightseeing on the island since we were attending a wedding in Freeland. There are several excellent restaurants nearby where we had delightful meals. I will definitely stay at the Acorn Motor Inn when we return to Whidbey Island in the future.
Cons:Be advised that while it didn't inconvenience us, some patrons were put off that there was no elevator at the motor inn which meant that they had to carry their luggage up a flight of stairs. We are an active mature couple so this fact did not bother us and it wasn't a problem.
