Pros:From the moment we pulled up to the hotel, the service was fantastic. Jerry helped us with our bags, showed us around the hotel--giving a great history of the décor, and then walked us up to our room. He gave us advice on where to go and what to do. The staff at the desk and the bar were just as attentive and kind. The room was the perfect size for the two of us, and all necessary items were stocked and clean. It was a great visit!

Pros:I liked being welcomed at the door by 3 people. The rug in the elevator was an unexpected treat and photo op. The room was plush. The bar was a relaxing place for a drink and dinner which was very good. It was also good to find parking nearby on the street.
Cons:I didn't like that I wasn't told that there would be an incindental charge on my card for possible expenses incurred in the room. The next day I saw the charge and called the hotel and was then told why. She said it was something we should have been informed of. The charge "fell off" the next day.

Pros:I stay at a hotels a lot and what I normally consider a great experience is when a hotel does a great job of alleviating the inconvenience of not being at my own house with my own stuff and kitchen. But the sorrento is a whole other thing. It's effing fabulous. I felt instantly relaxed and at home, if my home were a huge gilded age mansion. The food is wonderful, the staff is very available, the lobby area- I just wanted to hang out there and not go out. Even the courtyard, which is on a busy street, was like a cocoon. The whole experience was like being in another better world. AND there was tons of free street parking within a 2 blocks radius!
Cons:The one lame thing was there is only one elevator, but it is a genuinely old building, and what're you gonna do? It moved fast- you could tell they've made an effort to make it as speedy as possible. And it had a rug that said the day of the week! Which is more reassuring than you might think when you are travelling.

Pros:The old feel of the hotel. I didn't get to stay outside the room much so most of my review is about that. I'm surprised based on the cost you don't get anything from the minibar. Even in the sweet it's basically a large room. The beds were nice and soft and the rooms were comfortable renovations. That still had old furnaces but the hot water never runs out. There are bathrobes to relax in.
Cons:The location seems to be in a bad part of town.
