Pros: This was the best hotel we have stayed at in Mexico. Tranquil, friendly place. We loved our little bungalow! Located right in the jungle, no noise except singing birds and talking geckos. Super clean. The nicest staff. Great hint on how to get to a beautiful beach as well.. And delicious meals prepared by Italian chef :-) Highly recommended!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is a dream! The hosts are super welcoming, the bungalows well equipped cosy charming and perfectly clean, breakfast is delicious and they offer a beautiful swimmingpool. This is the perfect romantic paradise !
Cons: Everything was absolutely perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely wonderful - a peaceful, beautiful haven away from the hustle and bustle but only 5 mins drive to Akumal beach and the sea turtles. Vanessa, her Mama, Morena and the super amazing staff are the perfect hosts. They are so helpful and go the extra mile to ensure you have a great stay. The cabana rooms are gorgeous, very comfy with great facilities and outdoor area (awesome hammock). The pool is just perfect and the loungers very comfy. The food at breakfast is delicious - yummy continental style with a different type of pastry/cake every day and loads of amazing fruit. And dinner is exceptional! Morena delivers the tastiest, authentic, home made Italian and Mexican cuisine at very good prices. We normally try and eat out locally, but it was so good we ate in 5 of our 6 nights. Don’t look anywhere else!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are really taking care of their guests with a lot of kindness, the place is beautiful, the rooms (cabanes) are perfectly organized and well furnished. This place is like paradise! And the breakfast is delicious! I wish I will come back one day in this paradise!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One word: lovely! Our stay in Villa Morena has exceeded our expectations. The property is a paradise in the jungle. Very easy to find and located in a convenient location between Tulum and Playa del Carmen with all amenities you might need, it is a boutique hotel to remember. Vanessa and Morena have been from the very first moment available for everything we needed. The breakfast and dinner were amazing, the garden and swimming pool lovely to relax after a busy day! Unfortunately my friend got sick during the last days of our stay (definitely NOT from their lovely food :-)) and the owners did everything they could to help us, they even drove us to the local doctor and assisted with everything! We will never forget their gratitude during these days! I would definitely return to Villa Morena in the future and I recommend it to every traveler and family looking for an oasis in Yucatan! Thank you Vanessa and Morena for your kindness! I do hope we return one day! Greetings from Belgium!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing people and atmosphere - you feel like you are part of a family. And the food was excellent - both the breakfast and the dinners (make sure you get their lasagna!)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The owners, staff, pets, food and the facilities were all wonderful. And our family loved all their pets, especially Ramon! The bungalows are beautiful and even the toiletries are awesome. The grounds were beautiful and the pool was very unique although it was not real cold because it was very hot outside. You can tell that this property is very well taken care of and the owners have put in a lot of effort to make it very nice. And the sheets were very soft too.
Cons: There is truly only one negative and that is lack of air conditioning. It's too hot during the Summer with no air. It would probably be fine during the Winter months but it was a bit rough.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, from the location to the room itself and the service. Vanessa and her family are running this hotel in an excellet way. They are always at your disposal and they fulfilled any extra request. One day we had to start the day very early and they ensured the breakfast was delivered at our porch half hour before we had to leave, even if well in advance of the normal operating hours. Also they were always available to give suggesstions on the surrounding turistic areas. The cabin is built in a very nice typical design and give from the get go a feeling of cozyness. All that is needed is there. The cabins are facing a central pool that is very family friendly. Also, the fact you have a kitchen allows to cook you own meals, should you wish to. However, we used the family reastaurant that delivers mexican and Italian specialties really home made and delicious. The location is retired from the main road that brings you to all major locations in the area, from Akumal to Tulum to Cancun or the nerby biosphere. Being in a forest, you really feel the nature and not the cars or any non-natural noise. The sound of nature and the quiteness makes this place very special and the entire family appreciated it above all the hotels visited while being in Mexico. The fact that also the complex leaves almost entirely on solar power makes it amazing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Helpfulness of the staff. Relaxing nature of the villa.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully located eco hotel which is wonderful to have a total relax, chill by the pool

6.0 Good
Pros: Really wanted to like but...On first day, requested quiet room but was put near large construction site. Was told that it would be quiet because it was holiday week and not construction would occur. Jackhammers started and 7 a.m. and continued until 7:30 at night. Called to ask why they told me that information, and they didn't have an answer but said the hotel was full and I would have to wait the next day. I called the next day and got the same answer. On the THIRD day, I went to the front desk and told them that I was told I could be moved that day. The front desk said no because others were being moved first. The front desk had no record of these phone calls. I felt lied to and manipulated. They also moved be finally to a room where the fan rattled continuously even when turned off. Hard to sleep.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This all inclusive Wellness retreat is the real deal! Yoga and meditation classes included all day long!!!
Cons: Everyone and everything was fantastic
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The resort is a wonderful size. The staff are fabulous. The food is flavourful. The location is superb. The jacuzzi tub on the patio is a great idea. Every room faces a beautiful ocean view. The snorkelling and swimming were beyond our expectations. Who knew sushi on the pool deck would be such a great idea? Very firm but soft mattresses.
Cons: We were not warned that construction was ongoing and we could not sleep later than 7:00 due to the noise. The room patio only has one chair and we asked for two but none was forthcoming. We were locked out of our room due to a malfunctioning electronic lock and it took well over one hour to have the boss return to the hotel and open our door. Smoking is allowed on room patios and as non smokers we did NOT enjoy our neighbours nasty habit. Double beds instead of queen size made it difficult for my 6'3" hubby to get comfortable - they should find some way to put the two beds together.
7.1 Good
Pros: Snorkeling. Staff. Activities. Restaurants. Penthouse suite! Overall, it was a good stay for the price but we probably won't return in the near future.
Cons: Seaweed was definitely an issue for about 4 of our 8 days. Staff work all day to clean but it's still bad from morning to 1ish. Hotel is a little older but well maintained.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Traveled in June for 8 nights. Wonderful staff, very friendly. Only had a little bit of trouble finding space at the beach or by the pools - but we did hear the hotel was at capacity. No problems with our room, which was on the bottom floor of building 2, but heard about flooding in other rooms during the storm that hit. It was worth it not to have any room issues, but our room was super close to the snack bar and main pool, so not a great view. Was nice to walk easily out of our patio door and to the pool or bar though. Loved the yoga instructor for vinyasa yoga - wish I remembered his name - he was a really terrific instructor and the location/view was out of this world. For an hour a day you could rent free snorkeling gear from the hotel, but I recommend bringing your own so you can be out in the water with the sea turtles for hours. Lots of tour groups, so the best time to go is early in the morning, but we went out many afternoon and still saw plenty of turtles, rays, and fish, without being crowded. The food at the a la carte restaurants was great - our favorites were the Mexican and the Gourmet (just skip the chicken at the gourmet). Restaurants were all small though, so we heard there were frequently long waits to eat dinner at any of them (though we usually went at the beginning of service ~ 6 or 630pm and were seated immediately). The made to order eggs for breakfast and pasta for lunch and dinner at the buffet were excellent. The sushi bar was so so and very slow service. I think I got very sick from eating a mushroom at the Japanese/Peruvian restaurant (it was just about the only thing I ate that my boyfriend did not eat that day). The room service was included with all-inclusive 24/7 and usually very good (though it varied from day to day with regards to quality, quantity, and even ingredients for the same menu item).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the snorkeling, saw lots of fish and turtles everyday. Although sparce, the rooms were very comfortable, the jacuzzi is a nice idea but we never used it. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Cons: Overall the food was OK, some we liked some we didn't. We ate most of the time at the buffet because of the variety. We did not like the sushi restaurant of the asian fusion. The brazilian restaurant was pretty good once we learned to ask for rare and medium rare pieces, otherwise the meat was so overcooked it was like leather. Our biggest disappointment was the lack of Mexican food, there was chips and guacamole but would have liked more variety of local foods.

Cons: Would've been great if they hadn't of wasted a whole morning trying to hard sell us on a "vacation membership package" They're charging 16% interest on a financed deal that costs $50,000-$100,000. That whole ordeal ruined our last day there.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful grounds everywhere you walk. The staff is very friendly and most spoke English. The rooms are very beautiful and spacious.
Cons: Mosquitoes are very bad and constantly entered our room. Woke up every morning with more bites. When we were checking in they pressured us to signup for a welcome breakfast where they try to sell you on their AM Resorts program. Didn't care for that.

5.5 Okay
Pros: The breakfast buffet was fair,
Cons: Dinner buffet was poor. No mexican food and as a vegan there was only lettuce. The buffets were very loud and mostly indoors with very bright light. The restaurants were next to impossible to get into. Without a reservation the wait was over two hours every night. With a difficult to get reservation (only 2 allow reservations) we were rushed through and even were not able to finish our glasses of wine without them asking us to leave so they could seat the next party. The pools were freezing, beach overcrowded with blasting music always. Felt like a cheap spring break.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The food and the service were excellent.
Cons: There was only one pool available until midnight, the other ones closed at 6pm

Pros: The breakfast was excellent. A lot of choice and very very nice.
Cons: The reception was not very hospitable, we were switched around to a different part of the resort, and our rooms were not together. We found a hair in the bath, and our mini-bar was used when we came in. We called many times to correct, but nothing happened...

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming staff.super helpful.heaven for families with children. Japanese and Thai restaurants are wonderful
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great Buffets. Ocean was beautiful. Staff was very friendly
Cons: Since there was construction we could not use part of the resort. It would be nice if they could give us some type of credit towards another stay. Some Restaurants were closed.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I like the beach, the sea, the sport area, the spa, the friendly staff, the pools, the travel buses inside the hotel, ....
Cons: I didn't like there were no elevators
4.2 Okay
Pros: There was a lot of seaweed in the water in the area when we went, and the resort did a great job of cleaning it up. The pool and beach were great.
Cons: Front desk was terrible. We waited 2 hrs at check-in to get a room with 2 beds as per our reservation. Upon leaving, our safe stopped working and it took them over an hour to send someone who did not fix it and then another hour for 2 men to show up and fix it. The water in the mini fridge tasted like tap water and gave us stomachaches. And the restaurants were all terrible.
6.3 Good
Cons: Me and my partner both got food poisoning . Be very careful of the buffets . Do not have ice despite what they say and stick to bottled water .
9.5 Excellent
Pros: What an experience, amazing hotel, great value for money, couldn’t be a better decision made! The ample choice of food and drinks makes it hard as you spend the whole day completely full, quality of food and drink! Beautiful grounds and beautiful beach! Tepinyaki restaurant was fun and delicious! Highly highly recommend this place !
Cons: Fish restaurant on the beach, food was just not that good! Maybe just a bad night !
7.0 Good
Pros: The stuff was very nice and helpful, the food was good but if you like it spicy, you have to live with Tabasco. The pool was clean but on the beach have been a lot of alga, cleaned daily but was still to much. Can't blame the hotel, that's nature...
Cons: The room! For a five star resort was it simple. Was all there like coffee, TV,... but we had some insects inside the room and TV reception was poor. We had better rooms in less star resorts.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Once you got to the room it was nice and beds were comfortable. Spa and gym very good
Cons: Towel cards used and so people who lost their towels would steal yours, stressful to worry about stolen towels, sprawling, long walk to beach and pool from just about every room so I wouldn't consider it beachfront, every room is a garden view room, no elevators, restaurant reservation systems hard to figure out and again stressful. They don't realize that stress free is what vacations are all about. Food very average. I would expect these problems at a 3 or 4 star hotel but they claim to be 5 out of 6
8.8 Excellent
Pros: staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly
Cons: The restaurants - with the exception of Helios, the food quality is poor. In particular, most dinners were cold and seemed to have been cooked centrally and then transported to the various on site restaurants. Poseidon and the Thai place were particularly bad. Even Gaucho, which seems to bbq steaks on site, managed to serve barely tepid meat and the sides were comparable to bad airplane food.
7.5 Good
Pros: We stayed at the Grand Palladium Colonial, which was budget friendly and centrally located on the resort property. The food was decent and the property was really beautiful. The kids club and pools were just as pictured and really beautiful. It was also great that through our reservation we had access to the two neighboring resorts and restaurants.
Cons: At check in, it would have been helpful for someone to give us a 411 on the property, actives and everything you need to know for the resort, that didn't happen and we often felt frustrated trying to navigate this huge property for the first time. The room had a smell and the pull out bed was all torn and ratty - and we paid extra for the junior suite. It could definitely use some upgrades. Also, the resort, while stunning, was so spread out that my kids were exhausted getting around (3 and 6 years old). We ended up walking to the White Sands resort next door for all of our food (newer, cleaner and more quality food). The Colonial buffets felt old and the food unappealing. It was great we had that option though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food and staff were wonderful. Rooms were clean. I loved the attention given for special diets at each restaurant.
Cons: No signage for restaurants, just map dots. It took us some extra time to find the restaurants we were looking for. Some simple signage would have been perfect. The check in process was pretty confusing. We didn't know where to park the car with our luggage and there was no apparent parking for the check-in process.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing: the room, the bed, the shower, the kitchen. Room was super clean, breakfast was completely alright (basic breakfast). Amazing value to money. However, a car is needed because of the location. Staff were also very nice. Great experience! 10/10.
Cons: Nothing.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great hosts, fantastic surroundings and so Nice with a pool. Communication was made through Google translate which worked just fine. Such a Nice welcome and they really took care of me. Unique experience!!
Cons: A bit too far from restaurants so dinner is a bit complicated.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The bungalow was super spacious, the pool area looks like paradise and you are in the jungle, away from the money machine that is akumal. The owner/cook made us some great healthy dinner for a decent price and breakfast was spot on!
Cons: We read a couple of bad reviews just on our way there, so didn’t feel so safe and carried out valuables to dinner. When we arrived we we’re completely alone and were welcomed by a member of the staff that seemed like he had no idea what he was doing. Two ladies arrived later and everything was perfect.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I lovely little place, quiet and very good value for money. The lady’s very friendly kids were also great to talk to! They were very helpful with her too. We loved this place and would easily come back. Great hammocks too!
Cons: There’s not much around, although the jungle surroundings are quite beautiful, so you have to drive. Beach is not far but you can’t really walk there. There was an organic yoga and cafe thing nearby but it all look closed and there was not much information on it. Perhaps the staff could better advise on things to do locally without getting the car.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place, big and confortable room with terrasse, nice swimming pool with beautiful garden around Very friendly staff with good service, perfect!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This was a really cool place to stay out in the jungle about 15 minutes from Akumal. If you want peace and quiet away from the tourist trail then this is definitely the place from you. The hotel is located about 10 minutes down a dirt track road and there isn't anything around, so bear this in mind as you can't just pop out for a drink and a bite to eat at night. The pool and gardens are beautiful and the rooms are very cosy. There isn't too much to do here but just chilling by the pool and listening to the tropical birds was very relaxing :)
Cons: I don't think it was very clear exactly how secluded this place was, and the dirt track road was a bit of a surprise. It rained a lot before we arrived and the road was full of massive puddles which was unideal for our little car.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The kindness and availability of the staff. We asked to have dinner when arriving at 9PM and we were served a good meal. The place is peaceful. Beds are comfy and large. A/C was appreciated and quiet. Breakfast was great
Cons: In one of the three bungalows we rented, there was a smell coming from the sewage system. The tap of the bathroom was rusty and totally outdated.
7.0 Good
Pros: very Nice room, big bed and area
Cons: Breakfast made me sick. Coffee cold. Sorry, but teenage girl working/living there , really needs to learn how to receive guests little more friendly and how to handle with guests in general..or somebody else from the grown up should make her belongings.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The trees, wildlife, pools and all the sidewalks for walking. Nice big swimming pools. Everything is very well maintained. It’s a beautiful place. I talked to a couple that has been there 13 times in a row.
Cons: One thing missing was outdoor games especially for the older people such as a shuffle board or horse shoes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were so friendly, a family hotel but had lots of pools so some were more suited to adults
Cons: You only get three al a carte meals included and the rest is buffet (personal preference)
4.5 Okay
Pros: Food Is good but not Spectacular.
Cons: Employees are always angry and hace a very bad client attention. Definitively i Will never back here. Was a very bad experience since the frint desk. Jorge Is retard ir something happened with this guy, doesn't understand we were 6, not 8. Spanish specialty restaurant have great food but very bad Service, they turn off air conditioning and ventilators when we arrives at 10pm. Hot was awful inside, we need to stand up and retire from that place. You can't grab anything from any restaurant and go out, all employees convert into cops if you atempt to do it. I would not recommend this hotel. Try Royalton or Palace Resorts, ir even camp at the beach....it's better.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: 1) there is no room service (food): a 5 star hotel requires it 2) the beach is very small (10-15 mt deep) and covered by seaweed! 3) a la carte reastaurants needs 3-4 days advance booking 4) New Year's Eve is very very basic: just a fish menu and not so elaborated. No grand buffet on the beach or pool or something different than every night. You need to focus more on this issue
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Room is large, clean, updated. Food is good with lots of varieties
Cons: Beach is narrow. Swimming zone is very narrow and shallow with lots of rocks on the bottom. It's limited by artificial dams that separates swimming area from the open sea. On windy days there are TONS of seaweeds that cover the entire swimming area.
6.8 Good
Pros: The staff is absolutely excellent and very helpful. This is something usually found all over the south of Mexico and the hotels related to their service. The amenities are varied and they have many activities inside the facilities so you stay entertained.
Cons: They have a HUGE problem with the electricity and therefore the AC in the rooms (Villas). It seems some time ago, not too recently either, they had a big problem with one or several of their electric distributors and transformers most probably due to the Huge size of the 3 hotels they have together. The thing is they turn the ac of the rooms off at around 4 pm so the restaurants have enough power, then turn it back on at around 10 or 11 pm and that is half way... obviously is not enough time to cool the rooms while we slept with the heat of the Caribbean Summer. This is something that really needed to be displayed before you make your reservations because it's absolutely unbearable to sleep in those rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great the food the staff everybody was so helpful and kind lots of things to do on the property. The kids waterpark it's a plus and the server basilio may from the main buffet kukulkan it's great in anything you need.

Cons: I couldn't get a ride on there shuttle to the airport.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The buffet had lobsters!!! Amazing
7.0 Good
Pros: Food Comfort
Cons: Wi-Fi only in the lobby, slow Bars close at 11pm Drinks poor quality A.C. was leaking, wasn't fixed Beach far and covered in sea weed
4.5 Okay
Pros: The grounds, the restaurants look nice. Some of the food is of OK quality, there are usually many choices at the main buffet. Some of the staff works hard and they try to serve you well. Many however are just overwhelmed.
Cons: This is the perfect example of the resort that could be nice and yet it is ruined by management and their policies. Again: this is not a kids and family friendly resort. Don’t let yourself fooled by the waterpark and other things. -First off, the waterpark has zero food, zero drinks and zero snack facilities around it. You have to walk 10 minutes in the heat in order to get a fresh drink for your kids. -There are no chairs to be found in the shade like ever, unless you wake up early and drop your towels on a few chairs. The shade by the greenery does come with tiger mosquitoes, which bite like crazy all day long (google them if you are not familiar with this bug). -there are some nicer, smaller pools, with a bar in proximity, however the depth of the water is to great there fir small kids, so in effect they are mostly fir adults. -the main buffet closes at 10:30 and until 12-12:30 there is no decent food to be found anywhere on the resort. I’ve been sent away when I arrived at 10:35, with a backpack and with my 2-year-old holding hand. She said to go to “casita”, which is a buffet more than 10 minutes away in horrendous heat and with no food that my kids will eat (they had burgers, hotdogs, ribs, cookies and soft serve ice cream... that’s about it). -the service in the main buffet is often just inexistent. They are overwhelmed and they don’t care. One day our waiter literally refused to bring drinks and my kids kept asking for water. My wife went straight to the bar and they refused to give water, saying that the policy is for the waiter to serve. She has eventually been directed to the hall manager (Jonathan) who came and gave us water. -the staff in general will make no accomodations... as per policy. Asked for cereals at “Casita” (the only 24 hrs buffet)... can’t be done. Asked to take food away for my kids... can’t be done. Even at the a la carte restaurant they refused initially to bring both fruits and ice cream for my kids, they said we have to pick one. -the room on the ground floor had such a strong mold stench that we couldn’t take it and requested to move -the beach was fool of seaweed the entire week, which may not byme the hotel’s fault but it just adds to the insult.

Pros: Nice and relaxing place. Staff was great!

5.5 Okay
Pros: I liked the wine.
Cons: The food was lacking flavor and small portions plated to imitate fine dining. For example a steak served with 2 tiny 1 inch pieces of asparagus and a tater tot with tasteless green sauce drizzled in a circle.
7.5 Good
Pros: Acessability (have motability problems)
Cons: The food was generally cold. When the entertainment finished at 11pm, the lights were turned off and we were left finishing our drinks and chatting with friends in the dark.
6.8 Good
Pros: the facilities, the bed
Cons: the beach, the food
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The all-inclusive stay was awesome! The buffet had various types of food options from a variety of cultures. The abundance of strawberry daquiris and pina coladas was amazing. I loved it all! The room was always well-kept as well. The rooms were air-conditioned, and they had ceiling fans which made for a great break from the humid warmth outside.
Cons: Mosquitos. Unfortunately, if one mosquito got into the room, I got bit 2-7 times, and they left a mark about the size of a U.S. $.25 quarter. The balcony view was great from the room, but sometimes there was bird turd there.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was stunning. Staff great.
Cons: Was really disappointed with the room. The “King Bed” was two smaller beds pushed together. The water took ages to heat up for the shower. The toilet got constantly blocked. The “ocean view” was just some grass and palm trees and there was a musty smell in the room which had the feeling it hadn’t been used in a while. Also for some reason there was another smaller bed pushed into the corner of the room which Blocked easy access to the balcony.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing the staff made me feel special all the time
Cons: Transportation I wish they will have something set up already or make sure to let visitors how it works. I will call and verify but they will ask me to call diferentes numbers at the end I got transportation from the airport
6.3 Good
Pros: The landscape If you put more Dollars in to moving people IT would be Paradise.
Cons: Must have more Transpotation.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: There were an abundance of places to eat and places to get a drink. The staff was outstanding, the most friendliest folks that you could ever meet! Lots to do and see, and a huge complex.
Cons: No.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Not really an all inclusive. They nickel and dime you on everything.
Cons: food, staff, amenities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent place
Cons: Didn't like that my time is short wanted to stay more longer
4.5 Okay
Pros: Location, beach, pools
Cons: Did not feel it was a hotel for family, more like a Spring Break place to go. We left the sign DO not Disturb on the door and when we came back, the room was clean and all the bottles and things I had for my 1 year old baby were put somewhere else and handled, which I thought was very rude.

Pros: Everything good place for family and comfort
Cons: More time to eat

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Loved everything about the apartment. We stayed in #1 which is more like a private house since it is separated from the other 3 apartments. Location is perfect, right in the middle of Half Moon Bay, right on the beach. The place was spacious and clean thanks to the lovely ladies from housekeeping and Louis the gardener. We loved the pool which we mostly had to ourselves the entire week. We had a private terrace surrounded by a small sandy garden with coconut palms and a lovely view of the beach. We could park the car right in front of our apartment. There are a few good restaurants in the area as well as a small supermarket and it's not far to Akumal town. It's also an ideal area for daytripping. Places like Xelha, Tulum, Dos Ojos, Cobá and Muyil are all very close.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was well prepared for our arrival. Check in only took a few minutes.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Beautiful property, very spacious and well decorated condo. Half moon bay is lovely, and Villas' gardener Luis keeps the Villas' beach raked free of seaweed. Mostly quiet though we did get some loud music across the bay on the weekend. David, the manager, is wonderful, responded and addressed a few issues immediately. He went above and beyond when we asked to borrow pliers to fix my husband's cane, and he took the cane and fixed and improved it. He would not take a tip. All the staff were good. Easy walk to several great restaurants- we already knew and loved Buena Vida. Also bike rental and grocery shops in easy walking distance. Free parking and access to Akumal Bay, where you can snorkel with the turtles. I saw one within a minute of getting in the water (go to the right side of the boats, to the public beach, from LolHa restaurant). Also saw a skate and plenty of fish. The snorkeling in Half Moon Bay is less spectacular, but you still see coral and fish, and its nice to be able to snorkel anytime you want without going anywhere. We did not do any excursions, but plenty to be done from here to Tulum, cenotes...
Cons: Hard to think of anything. Maybe that hard plastic lounges that were uncomfortable, but the other lounges were fine. We were not prepared for the suggestion that we leave 5% of the cost of the stay for each of 3 staff- 2 housekeepers and gardener, and problems with getting cash only exacerbated the problem. We left less, but more than we would have thought to leave.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is well-kept and had everything we needed. The manager, David, was attentive and helpful. The cleaning gals and the groundskeeper were very friendly and good at their jobs. The pool, the view, and the beach were lovely. Our family had a great time snorkeling right out on the beach. Our master bedroom bed was firm but super comfortable. There are very good restaurants within walking distance. We loved it here!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have stayed in Akumal for 25 years. The Flamingo has moved to the top of my list. Extremely comodious with two terraces and great access to the pool.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was fantastic, right between all the restaurants in the area. We walked everywhere we needed to.
Cons: The beach wasn't really swimmable but relaxing enough.

Pros: Location was excellent. Watch the sunrise over the ocean in the morning. Walking distance from attractions but a golf cart make it easier.

Pros: Consistent service, accommodations over a 25 year period. Love this place!!!
Cons: Never had an issue with seaweed, but definitely a problem now. Global Warming

Overview Reviews
Mexico is one of the most exciting places to visit. Tourists from all over the world flock to its beaches each and every year. When they are looking for a place to stay in Mexico, there are many resorts. These resorts have a lot to offer their guests. One of the most chosen is the Grand Sirenis Rivera Maya Resort 5. This is a 5-star resort, one of a kind resort. It is made of two hotels, and it was inspired by Mayan culture. It has two miles of beaches and so much more. The resort features three pools, a lazy river, open-air lounges, two buffet-style restaurants, eight other restaurants, 11 bars, a coffee shop, a disco, theatre, spa, mini supermarket, shops, laundry, medical center, and 946 suites. Guests of the resort have pretty much everything that they need here. The rooms have many great features as well. Guests will enjoy large beds, sitting areas, iron, flat-screen televisions, luxury bathrooms, gaming console, whirlpool and massage jet shower, in-room safe, bathrobe, slippers, hairdryer, mini bar, air conditioning, coffee maker, ceiling fans, microwave, WiFi, and work desk. Guests of the hotel will love the amenities that they have here. The bilingual staff is very friendly and can help guests with any questions that they may have about the area. There is a lot of Mayan culture and history to explore here, and guests of the hotel will be in for a treat when it comes time to travel around the area more.
6.3 Good
Pros: - rooms are nice and modern - pools are of good standard - lazy river is nice
Cons: - definitely not five star standard - food (even extra booked and paid for restaurants, lobster dinner etc) are very average - there is a beach but it is hardly useable due to sea weed and rough sea - room only superficially clean (persistent stains on bath tub, linens etc) - in short resort is just trying to do too much so the standard on any single aspect slips (food, room service, mini bar, “experiences”)
4.3 Okay
Pros: The bartender Oscar at the pool bar was amazing!
Cons: Do not waste your time. The food was horrible. You can’t eat at all the al la carte restaurants. Staff was very rude. Oscar the bartender at the pool bar was the best thing/person that they have to offer.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Rooms were nice
Cons: The communication was terrible. We left items behind in the safe and we never saw them again they denied finding them. I called 3 days in a row because they won’t call out. Also took cash when we checked in and every day of our stay the called wanting a credit card instead???? Absolutely do not go here. So many better options to choose from. Hands down the rudest staff we have ever come across and it’s too bad because honestly the rooms and resort are amazing.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Loved the architecture of the buildings and the hidden nature of the various poolside and beach areas so it never felt crowded. Staff were super friendly. Drinks were brought to you by the poolside or on the beach sunbeds. Bbq by the beach. Buffet restaurant had a huge selection of good quality choices including Mexican dishes, grilled fish, meat, salads, etc. Had a great boat trip from the resort to snorkel with sea turtles.
Cons: Resort is quite spread out. Whilst this means it does not feel crowded it does involve quite a bit of walking between various areas which is not so good in the heat. Dissapointed with the prebooked restaurants and preffered the buffet meals. Air conditioning in room didn't seem responsive to controls.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: food, enjoyed being able to have waitress service in some restaurants in evening , not always a buffet
Cons: bathroom- wet area never drain away so whole room flooded after shower , asked 2 times to it be be cleaned but nothing helped / no evidence anyone tried to clean it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great value for money. Top shelf liquor. Food was great.
Cons: Concierge isn't really a concierge. Concierge is a sales person insistent on selling time share program.
7.5 Good
Pros: Yes
Cons: Poor a/a on public spaces
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I loved the staff, the room, the personal attention.. I was injured a few days before arriving and the staff made sure I had rides everywhere.
Cons: A little too big for my tastes, more like a Disneyland. I prefer smaller venues. That is not the fault of Sirenis, just a personal preference.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Half way thru our stay we had already decided that we wanted to come back. The grounds are beautiful and the staff are the most friendly I've ever experienced. You could easily spend a week or more there and never get off the grounds. There's plenty to do. But if you do want to venture out, there are many things to do within just minutes of the resort. The rooms were huge and we'll kept. We just loved it.
Cons: The are some tiles missing in the pool and I happened to cut my foot on one. Nothing too bad but it did hinder which shoes I was able to wear. Also we had an issue with our private shuttle to the resort that we booked via the link on the resorts Web site. There was no one waiting for us when we arrived and our paper work didn't have the shuttle services name on it so we didn't know what to look for. Fortunately someone finally was able to point us to the correct shuttle stand after us trying to make our way through all the other people who approached us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our second time to this resort. It's huge and has a lot to do. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The property is full of plants and wildlife. The gardens are beautiful and gives you a chance to see many iguanas. There is always good food available and the rooms are very clean and modern.
Cons: Totally NOT the hotels fault- but the beach and ocean were full of seaweed. They did their best to clean up the beach, but there was just too much to keep up with. I believe it was just the time of year. Still enjoyed our time!
6.3 Good
Pros: Room was a junior suite and was really spacious, clean, airy and nice.
Cons: Check in took ages and there was only one group in front of us. Too much paperwork to fill in at the desk. Could easily have been done online and just needed a signature. Food was of poor quality in the buffet and that is the only place we experienced. Zero air conditioning other than the room which meant eating was very uncomfortable due to the humidity. Swim up bar was a joke. One guy serving and many people wanting drinks, chaotic as everyone asking and no order to the queue.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very quiet but close to several attractions. 2 diving center in the complex are very comfortable
Cons: Breakfast included in the price of the hotel could be improved. The beach is not reserved to hotel guests and can become very crowdy and noisy.

Pros: Great restaurant on the beach for breakfast. very attentive staff. you could use your vouchers towards higher priced menu item so it was nice not to be limited to the same continental breakfast. Food was priced reasonably and was good

Cons: Price too high for the level of amenities proposed

Cons: Rooms dated Resort dated No hot water in the room (after 30 seconds) Breakfast good, but the vouchers only cover a very basic breakfast, we used 2 each day and went elsewhere on alternate days. Pros: This is the second time I've stayed in Casa Gatos and the place is a great value for the price. David and Dan are very friendly and helpful. It's very close to Yal Ku and Half Moon Bay so you are a short walk to the best snorkeling spots in the area. It's a bit further away from the beach though so if you don't have a car you might want to consider renting bikes.
Cons: The wi-fi is a little spotty but it works if you are downstairs.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Large comfortable accommodation with a great view of the Caribbean ocean. The staff were great, very helpful.
Cons: Although located on the waterfront, there is no beach or access to the water. The foul odor of decaying sargassum (sea weed) was a little overwhelming at times.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If I could give this property six stars out of five, I would. It is incredibly beautiful, massive, fun and brilliantly positioned. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We had just travelled from a place in Tulum which was about the same price, and it was tiny, cramped, poorly positioned, and had no basic facilities such as air conditioning. When we arrived at Del Sol and saw the big tub overlooking the beach, and the king sized bed and the kitchen and the view, we could have cried with joy.
Cons: I had only booked for one night. If I had known just how incredible this place was, I would have stayed a week. So - the only thing I didn't like was leaving
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is the perfect place to be and the rooms have amazing views to the ocean and the beach with white sand and palm trees. The restaurant/bar of the hotel, La Buena Vida is a main attraction on its own- tree houses, hammocks, all on the beach with amazing food and cocktails served by friendly staff
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very clean. The most amazing view. Great staff. Next doot to La Buena Vida restaurant.
Cons: The room was very tiny.
7.0 Good
Pros: Colorful, right on the beach. Hammock by the sea. Drip coffee maker and mini fridge in room. Wake up to the sun rising over the ocean. Decent pillows. Hard bed. Walking distance to Yal-Ku cenote and Buena Vida restaurante.
Cons: The AC unit was very weak. We turned it on full blast at check-in but the room didn't reach comfortable sleeping temp until midnight. Sadly, the sargassum was heaped high and smelled too bad to open the sliding doors and let the ocean breezes blow through.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is right on the beach with palapas and lounge chairs just yards from the water in a gated mostly residential area. All rooms face the ocean. Restaurant La Buena Vida is nearby. Coffee maker and refrigerator. Guard at night. Reasonable price. Besides the hotel rooms, they have roomy condos with complete kitchens. Very clean.
Cons: The room was rather small and could use more storage for clothing.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The sea view was especially nice and the sea breeze was easy to experience - just open the big windows. The other side of the property looked out over jungle with no noise and traffic evident. The water was bath warm .. amazing.
Cons: The beach was unfortunately covered with sea weed - its nature.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beach 5 meters from the hotel room. Excellent restaurant about 1 minute walk away (also right on the beach) , very friendly, English-speaking staff ... about 2 minute drive to shopping area
Cons: Nothing.
5.5 Okay
Pros: This is an older property. The staff are courteous. We knew this when we booked, however we selected it for it's location...right on the beach. Unfortunately the current seaweed problem makes the beach unusable. It is IMPERATIVE to call or look up current pictures of this location. They do not have current pictures of the beach on the listing, make sure you check! The stench is overwhelming and it seems to be the worst right in front of the del sol. Whenever we would leave and come back you knew you were close because the stench would get stronger when you reached the hotel. They seemed to be piling it up in huge mounds behind the multicolored pallet fence that runs between the Buena Vida restaurant and the hotel. Without the benefit of the location the age and lack of amenities becomes glaringly obvious. Some of which include: no bar soap or shampoo/conditioner just foaming hand soap. The towels are old and have rust stains on them. We were eaten alive by jungle fire ants that came in through our living room window, after complaining we were switched to a different room which was higher up and also had the benefit of a lesser stench. Also the staff did come in with a can of bug spray to try and kill the fire ants. The property is advertised as having cable TV however the first room we were in only had 2 channels that came in the rest were snowy. The 2nd room did have more channels and 1 HBO channel. Normally one doesn't care about TV when on a beach vacation and all of the other things I mentioned probably wouldn't have bothered us either if we could have actually used the beach. But when your stuck in your room to escape rotting seaweed stench it would be nice to have some comforts to at least make up for it. With all that being said If/when the seaweed problem goes away I would stay there again just for the location.
Cons: The Buena Vida restaurant has good drinks but the food is bland and not worth the money. Head down the road to Turtle Bay or Queva De Pescador both had excellent food and drinks. Also the Que Onda near Yal ku lagoon was good as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff is amazing...front desk was very quick to respond to any requests or concerns. Bar and restaurant staff was friendly and accommodating as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The wonderful view.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfasts by the pool were great.
Cons: The bar service on the roof top was slow and indifferent
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We had a Condo with Sea View. The view from the balcony is amazing. You can watch the sunrise drinking coffee direct from your room. You can watch the sunset having dome drink at the bar on the roof. The property and the apartment is very clean, well equipped, although bit outdated. The bed is extra large. Family like atmosphere, where we felt very safe. Quiet and comfortable place at night and definitely not crowded by day. Excellent direct access to "private" beach with sun shade and beach furniture. All as described. Very communicative manager Tony, on phone managed our late arrival and midnight check in. Free parking. We will definitely come back.
Cons: There were some drop outs of internet. But to be honest this was not so important.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is on the most beautiful beach/bay with killer coral reefs. We saw turtles, mantas, barracudas and every fish imaginable! The food was good and the fish tacos were great. Not being an all inclusive was ok since we had a kitchen. I awoke each morning to the sight and sound of the surf. It is not a five star, fancy granite counter place, but clean with friendly staff. It is a simple place with the calm atmosphere that those who want to avoid the "party" will love the Bikini Beach bar next door on beach a plus. We will most definitely return.
Cons: Bathroom upgrade, more kayaks, in room phone to order from kitchen, and use a different cleaning agent that doesn't have such an lingering overpowering scent in the rooms.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were very comfortable and housekeeping did a great job keeping them clean. One of the servers was very kind and helpful. The location is amazing.
Cons: The food was very hit or miss and there isn't any other dining options. Would be ideal to have a car.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Plenty of drinking water
7.5 Good
Cons: It ended up being such a great time. We didn’t realize the location was 30 minutes from tulum until we arrived but it worked out in our favor and we had a wonderful time (at a far better rate)... a happy accident, if you will. The beaches were quieter and sandier than tulum. And it’s so close to akumal and the best cenotes. DEFINITELY rent a car, but every moment is worth it. Thank you!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of this property is amazing. We walked right out of our room into the sand. Beautiful views. Carlos made our stay extra special he’s an amazing chef and bartender! My wife has a severe shrimp allergy that sometimes sends us to the hospital on vacation so he made sure that there was no cross contamination. He even made us a tradition pork dish that was not on the menu! This place is truly a gem and the entire staff was nice! Also bed was super comfy!
Cons: There were no curtains in the living room which made for no privacy when we were in the living/kitchen area as people can sit right in front of your window on the sand.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous scene right on the beach. Not crowded. Room right over the beach. Reasonable priced good for room service or at beach. Very low key, quiet section of beach.
Cons: Beach is somewhat Rocky. Still swim able.
4.0 Okay
Pros: On the beach
Cons: No hot water and there was a constant smell of sewage. Ants all over the place.
6.8 Good
Pros: The facilities, the free kayak and the staff was amazing!
Cons: The beach was full of sargazo, not a good date to go due to this
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Right on the beach!
Cons: Nothing!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Upgraded to beachfront condo because our pool view room looked dark, outdated and small. Condo was beautiful but the upgrade was expensive. On site restaurant was excellent & great price. We ate there every meal but u either took food back to room or at at pool since the restaurant didn't have a dining area. Beach was beautiful but had seaweed piled up and constantly washing ashore...not hotels fault.
Cons: Update pool & garden rooms.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting in the middle of the jungle, a lot of wildlife on the property. There are only four units spread out on a rather big lot of land. Leon is the owner and a great and friendly host who gives Yoga lessons in the mornings and has a lot of custom tips for your trip depending on what you want to do! There was an event (sound healing) that we enjoyed a lot. The breakfast is basic and you will have to prepare it yourselves but its great local fruit and good coffee! There was room service that we did not expect, also very nice! We very much recommend Leons place for everyone who is looking for a simple place in the jungle with a lot of tranquility and cool neighbours (I liked the Iguanas most). If you enjoy Yoga on top, this is your place!
Cons: The shower lacked a little pressure for our taste :)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: A clean, well cared for place, with an excellent, helpful, friendly host! If you're in to a unique, authentic, reduce, reuse, recycle, organic, vegan, kind, peaceful, non-commerical, communal experience...just a little off the beaten path with only the sounds of jungle birds (and we all should be more into this) this IS the place for you.
Cons: Not what we expected. This organic, jungly compound is a little more rustic and hand-crafted than we expected--not bad, just different than expected. It is probably everything one should expect for a unique, authentic, reduce, reuse, recycle experience...just a little off the beaten path. There is really nothing not to like about this location, just don't go expecting a typical resort condo or hotel experience...yet it has AC, warm showers, comfy beds, free parking, but no pool.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Leon the owner, who also looks after the property, always answers the phone. Spacious suites, with bathroom, living room and kitchen. Owner has a cute Labrador, who came to greet me every morning. Supposedly there was free yoga class, although I didn’t do any.
Cons: It is saying that continental breakfast is included. Google defines continental breakfast as “a light breakfast, typically consisting of coffee and rolls with butter and jam”. You will find a kitchen with a very old toaster. Yes, you need to toast your own bread, and boil some hot water yourself to make a coffee. Coffee powder is not the best quality in my opinion. Some fruits in the kitchen were not fresh any more. There was a big spider living in my suite. At the beginning something was wrong with the address and navigation was not working. I had to drive in the area for more than half an hour. Toilet was constantly not flushing, and had to use a pail to get water and flush the toilet manually. I was travelling alone with two suitcases l, so asked for help when I got there. Owner was reluctant to help. When I checked out, was told to just leave the key on the door. Didn’t even bother.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I stayed in the eco lodge for4 nights. It is in the jungle, maybe a half mile away from the main road. It is peaceful! Because it was the low season, I was all alone on the site, whitch made it a medidation , yoga and introspectives moments for me. Leon is a dedicated man and loves to help people if needed. I hurt my knee and he gave me a massage and drove me to my next hostel. I recommand this place for everyone who want to enjoy nature, do some yoga and not be in akumal center or beach where theres to much people. P.S Youre in nature, so youll see bugs for sure ;) Its part of the trip. Thanks Leon!!! Muchas gracias xxx
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner is very helpful person willing to answer all your questions. He recommended us great places to See. The bungalow was beautiful inside. Remeber it s a jungle So u May meet a Scorpio or spider. If you are up for a Real jungle I highly recommend this place.
Cons: It is difficoult to find this place without calling the owner for detailed instructions
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The Owner lives on the property and is very nice and helpful. We got some great recommendations on where to go from him. The free Yoga lesson in the morning was also exactly what me and my wife needed. The place is rustique and has a lot of personality and ambience. Very recomendable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: big house with all equipment, great place in the centre of jungle, small lizards in the room :-) high standard with friendly owner (a lot of info from him), possibility of massages and yoga course
Cons: a little bit difficult to find destination, simple breakfast (only toast and marmalade)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay in organic yoga Mexico was amazing! The owner is such a lovely person, the apartments are equipped with everything you could wish for. Also the meditation and the yoga class in the morning were amazing. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a calm relaxing stay in a beautiful surrounding!

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very very nice room! Excellent staff. Imacculately clean. Comfy bed. Beautiful common terrace outside the room. The room was very nicely decorated with painted stuff on the walls. Very cozy. Would go back any day of the week!
Cons: Traffic noise! A lot of it.
7.5 Good
Pros: It was very clean, comfy big bed, nice bathroom and easy walk to the turtle beach (100pesos for day), and there are shops and collectivos right in front of the building, and staff is nice (but only speaks spanish), easy check-in and out
Cons: It was very noisy (cars and dogs and people from the streets), there was not window with glass, only net and rolletes, and in front of your door and windows there is smoking place, common area with table, so when some other guests decided to be there and talk and smoke, you must hope they will be nice and go sleep early :D
8.0 Excellent
Pros: NA
Cons: Need Refridge. Noisy on main corner but were warned of that when booking, believe it!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It is only a short walk to the beach which makes it a good value. The staff was very friendly though didn't speak any English. AC is good. Wifi was ok outside or in the lobby.
Cons: Noisy pueblo
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: We had our room searched and money stolen by staff. Security cameras( which they would NOT show us) showed only the maid and ourselves entered the room, so they claimed. They did not make any apologies. Would not recommend feeling your belonging are safe at their hotel. Towels were ripped, thread bare and not very clean, grey colored.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Stayed in the hotel just for one night. The overall impression is very positive. Very nice staff (I arrived earlier and got my room around 10:30 in the morning), clean room.
Cons: Very bad internet connection. It was not an issue but anyway...
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel. Quite new and fresh. Very clean and spacious room. Very pleasant. Also roof terrace available. The hotel is located in the town next to shops and little local bars and restaurants.
Cons: A little bit far from the beach, where you need to pay to get in (not the hotel's fault though). It was also a bit difficult to find, maybe the logo should be bigger.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great basic room. Great location. The kids enjoyed the bunk beds. Very nice front desk person. The rooftop balcony was great!
7.0 Good
Pros: The rooms are big and the hotel is located at walking distance from the beach. It is ideal for budget travellers that cannot afford the expensive hotels by the beach
Cons: the beds were very hard and the hotel is in town which makes it very noisy at night and early in the morning. Bring earplugs.
7.5 Good
Pros: The authentic Mexican little town. Room was large and well appointed. Lovely communal deck with some view.
Cons: Location was up in the town away from the beach. So was initially disappointed..but came to appreciate the people and facilities in surrounding area. It was more of a cultural experience which we liked.

Nestled on the beach, this Akumal property is 1.4 mi (2.2 km) from Riviera Maya Golf Club and 2 mi (3.2 km) from Akumal Beach. Akumal Ecological Center and Aktun Chen are also within 3 mi (5 km).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good snorkeling right off the beach-we saw lots of fish and a spotted eagle ray! Life guards will bring you a bandaid by the pool if needed (part of the caring staff). Lots of activities, after dinner shows are thoroughly entertaining. We thought the food was great, especially Cafe del Mar's dinner. You are given a schedule of live music during dinner-we didn't notice it until the last day but still had dinner music every night-even in the buffet. Kids club staff is wonderful, and the buffet crew will let you practice your Spanish on them (como se dice waffles?). Short drive or taxi ride to Tulum ruins and Akumal beach (where the sea grass bed is located- we saw 10 turtles in an hour). Oasis has a guided boat tour to Akumal that looked nice (and avoids the beach crowd), though we ended up driving. Last note is about bottled water: you get 4 sodas and 2 bottles of water daily in the minibar, but if that doesn't seem like enough water, you can exchange your canned drinks for more water. Especially nice if you leave campus on a hot day!
