La Porte des Cevennes - Alès - Bedroom
1
9.2 Excellent (420 reviews)
C$ 147+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at La Porte des Cevennes in Anduze, you'll be steps from Cévennes National Park and a 3-minute drive from Cevennes Tourisme - Bureau d'Anduze. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s a very baby/children friendly place, has got pets in cages (a duck, a rabbit, fish) and many toys! There’s also a playground with a slide and bouncy toy, which my daughter really liked. Staff is very friendly and always happy to help.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location with a wonderful view from the terrace where breakfast and dinner are served. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Nothing.
7.5 Good
Pros: We had a room with a view over the valley and away from the parking lot. That was really great. The room has a good size, the bathroom too. Nice feature is the balcony with 2 chairs and a table. The Hotel is quite a big place which we were not aware of. Good parking situation, but the Hotel was not fully occupied.
Cons: There was a strong smell in the room we couldn't really identify. A strong "perfume" smell from the toilet and a bit "used and old" smell in the room. It had carpeting so that doesn't really help. We put the aircon on but only stale warm air came out of it. So it did not work although it was warm in the room. Breakfast was way overpriced. It is not worth 12 Euros, maybe 5 Euros at the most.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved our stay here. Incredible view from our room and the restaurant terrace. Excellent good value dinner in the restaurant. Nice walk from the hotel down to the river and 'beach'. Outside lower terrace with sun loungers was great space to relax after a day of sight seeing (we did the steam train ride).
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Realy a nice place to stay. Beautifull view from my room overlooking the valley. An open fire was burning in the large dining room. The room itself was not so cozy. Breakfast was very good. We had dinner in the village of Anduze, in a restaurant called LE CABANON. Very nice, local dishes.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We liked the buggy transport to bring luggage from the car park to reception. Our room was quiet and very clean and comfortable. The food was good. Dinning on the attractive terrace was a pleasure.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The receptionist was speaking German (our language) - what a pleasant surprise in French France. Check-in was super fast and easy and the room was pleasantly cool upon our arrival on a hot summer day. The aircon was working at all time and gave us a good climate in the room. We wanted to go down to the river and needed to pass through the camping ground so we checked with reception before. They gave us a 'hall pass' and there was no problem at all with this. We very much recommend dinner in this hotel - it is delicious and amazingly arranged into a beatiful display. The waitress was not so good with English or German but managed well - we got what we wanted and an explosion of local aromas on top. The next day we actually experienced the entire evening dinner during our excursions through the Cévennes and are very greatful for that. Breakfast also surprised us with homemade yogurt, local cheeses, oranges to squeeze your own orange juice just on time and a breathtaking view from the hotel terrace.
Cons: We were a little bit surprised that the hotel was quite a bit away from down-town Anduze but I guess we could have done a better research on this ahead of time to find out. It pays off to have your car or another vehicle with you if you want to stay at this hotel and tour around the Cévennes. Unfortunately, WIFI was not functionining during the 3 days we were there. This was a bit uncomfortable since planning of visits into the Cévennes would have been burdensome. We were lucky to have our own mobile internet with us that we could use.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best hotel in a 100-mile-radius around Anduze. Great discovery! Exceptional friendliness from owners and staff. Unforgettable! Splendid view from the restaurant terrace. And the food was first class as well as the rosé
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The very helpful and kind staff. The view from our room was incredible. We enjoyed dinner in the dining room and the very generous breakfast.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We do not speak any French so it was good that they understood basic English! Breakfast was quite expensive for what was mainly a continental breakfast but was very nice all the same. Room was spacious and comfortable with lovely view of the surrounding countryside. Bathroom nice and clean. Location was great, 5minute drive into Anduze.
Cons: More hot options at breakfast

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The deluxe room with patio was everything we could have asked for. It was private and relaxing. The bed was extra comfortable and there was plenty of storage space. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
Cons: We stayed for five nights and the menu got a bit repetitive and I would have like more vegetables with our evening meal.

Pros: Accueil et staff
Cons: Quality of accessories in the room ( no shampoo plastic glasses so thin that breaks,..
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel grounds, pretty garden, swimming pool and playground for children

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The pillows and the bed were amazingly comfortable. The whole place was clean and well looked-after. The service was amazing. I felt very at peace here.
Cons: I’ll have to think about it. Can’t think of anything right now. When you have a great view and a towel warmer, you have everything, right?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was wonderful. The way the old house has been rebuilt to place a hotel has been made with very good taste. The gardens, the pool, ... give a very good atmosphere. The people also very nice.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting, sympathetic modernisation of older building. Seems like one amazing woman does everything!
Cons: Wifi in French and Italian mountains is always inexplicably diabolical. This hotel is typical of the region
Overview Reviews
Situated near the boardwalk, this hotel is within 1 mi (2 km) of Cevennes Tourisme - Bureau d'Anduze and Cévennes National Park. La Bambouseraie de Prafrance is 2.8 mi (4.5 km) away.
7.9 Good

Cons: Room size could be larger. No lift. No coffee and tea in the room, rather basic furnishing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hostess
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I’ve stayed at the Hotel on numerous occasions. I often tour on bicycle in the Cevennes and La Régalière is a great hotel to stay at. Tranquil with great services and large well appointed rooms. I’ll always stay when in the area.
Cons: The upper hall is a little dark, minor point.

Pros: Our hosts were wonderful and helpful,
Cons: The WiFi was very spotty and beds a little soft.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff was super friendly and eager to see to our comfort.
Cons: Nothing.
7.5 Good
Pros: The couple who run the hotel were fantastic. We arrived late afternoon and the lady was concerned that my wife, who has limited mobility and uses a stick to aid her walking, would not manage the stairs. She offered us a smaller room off the rear garden area. Whilst this was smaller than the room that we had booked, it was ok for our needs and the gesture showed genuine care for the guest's requirements. The secure car park was a bonus and the breakfast in the garden was ideal. I cannot fault the owners, they were very friendly.
Cons: The room was a little bit small, but our choice to take it and not use the stairs. The ventilation in the bathroom was a bit limited, so things felt a little damp after two showers. The room was ok for one night but I may have needed the larger room if staying longer.
7.5 Good
Pros: Parking, breakfast area, staff.
Cons: Old building, old fornitures.
7.9 Good
Pros: Very friendly a d helpful owners. Safe garage parking for motorcycle
Cons: Broken shower fittings, flimsy door to toilet (didn't shut properly) and very small room off the patio no bigger than a garden shed.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly welcome. I particularly liked the courtyard where breakfast was served. The decor was a little dated but still very comfortable and functional.
Cons: Happy with all aspects of the stay.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I cannot praise this hotel enough. It was clean, comfortable and in a good location. However, its greatest asset is its staff. I’ve travelled widely and to a person these are the best I’ve encountered. Everyone is smiling, checking all is well without being intrusive. Highly recommend.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The beds were comfortable and the view was a good one out on to the square.
Cons: Unfortunately there was no milk in the room to go with tea or coffee. Also the soap dispenser in the shower had fallen off. As we were tired and only staying one night we did not let the concierge know at the time.

6.3 Good
Pros: surroundings
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lots of space in the family suite, friendly staff, and good tips for things to do in this beautiful region.
Cons: The pool is not covered, so it's very cold - and it's difficult for young children as it's quite deep at 1m60.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were extremely friendly and kind. The pool and garden area was lovely, and we mostly had it to ourselves. The appartment was spacious, especially the balcony, and the facilties were more than adequate. The location was breathtakingly beautiful. It really felt like a relaxing holiday, staying here.
Cons: Its a long walk/short drive to any shops or restaurants but the peaceful location more than made up for this.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good quality self catering accommodation, close to a hotel with restaurant if needed. Parking available close to rooms if required Clean and comfortable room, friendly staff who gave a free local map
Cons: No problems
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Apt 402 was spacious with comfortable beds and good kitchen facilities. Bathrooms large and clean. Staff friendly. Wi-Fi good.
Cons: There was no comfortable seating in the lounge or on the terrace, only dining chairs and a picnic table. There is no easy access to the river from the property. The apartment needs some homely touches.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The space was fantastic. The location idilic and the pool was wonderful and quiet
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Apartment was a very generous size, with a nice balcony. We all loved the pool, and it was a great location just outside Anduze and near St Jean du Gard. Great location near the river, just a shame that the river was too low for swimming when we were there. We visited the local markets and the Bambouserie nearby and thoroughly recommend both!
Cons: Showers needed new heads, they were a bit useless, and kitchen could have done with some more equipment, in particular some sharp kitchen knives would have been good.

4.2 Okay
Pros: Staff was friendly
Cons: Bed was hard didnt sleep at all
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: We stayed in room 115. There was no chair in the room, holes in the ceiling with damp coming through, bugs under the bed, foul lingering smell, large metal box under the bed, smell of smoke throughout the hotel. Asked specifically a month before our stay for a late check in at 11pm which I was told was fine. Then received an email on the night we arrived to say the hotel closes at 9pm. Did not feel comfortable in the slightest. Would never go back.

7.5 Good
Pros: A normal hotel with decent facilities.
Cons: We reached the hotel past 23:00 and wanted to have a sandwich, since everywhere it said the bar was opened 24 hours, and it was not. Excuse: the cook was not there any more that night. We then asked for a beer, and they told us it was not possible to serve alcohol anymore. But then, few minutes later I went back to reception to ask for an extension, and there were 4 people drinking a beer just in front of the entrance. When I asked why we were not able to have one and they were drinking, the receptionist said that these guys were the hotel director and some friends. If this is true, great example Mr. director. Congratulations for the impression we got.

4.2 Okay
Cons: It’s 30-40 minutes walk to centre. With a cab they charge for the 6 minutes drive a standard fee of €10 every journey. It’s an industrial site. With nothing around apart from a supermarket. The WiFi is terrible. Extremely slow and one needs to check in to access it every 15 minutes!
