6.7 Good
Pros: Great location, old style but tired hotel. Staff lovely and breakfast buffet was nice.
Cons: Sunday evening in town though was very very quiet. Most bars and restaurants were shut. Nothing on at hotel. No food, bar, coffee or vending machine. Reception shut at 7 and that was it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to the beach and a lively neighborhood. Great hospitality!
5.4 Okay
Pros: The Breakfast was the highlight of our stay.
Cons: The room was stuffy, plain and overall just OK. The price was high for what you get.
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice, old, central, quality hotel.
Cons: The restaurant was closed, so ate out nearby in over-priced fancy place
7.1 Good
Pros: Centrally located with ease of access to motorways etc. Clean spacious room. Good shower
Cons: Although centrally located unfortunately we were kept awake on the Saturday night until approx 4am as there were a group of youngsters singing and making noise (banging something) outside in the square. Whether they were locals or teenagers on hols we don’t know. Our other nights were noise free. Might have been a good idea to request room not on the square side.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Central, nice people
Cons: Poor WiFi on 3rd floor
5.4 Okay
Pros: Clean. Reasonable breakfast.
Cons: Very basic. Felt like an expensive youth hostel. WiFi didn’t work. No toiletries. Very old fashioned but not in a good way. One of the defrosted loaves at breakfast was still frozen in the middle!
7.0 Good
Pros: Our room (the apartment) was comfortable and clean and big. Fair price, for Switzerland. Bathroom fittings were modern and clean. Friendly staff. Located in Artdorf, a lovely little town, with fantastic mountain views. Quick and easy laundry service. Despite the "dislikes" below, we would come again and recommend it to others.
Cons: No microwave. Bathroom door doesn't quite fit the doorframe so open/shutting the door was a struggle. Location in Artdorf is a bit inconvenient to drive to/from every day, lots of small alleys to drive through, and I had a big car. On the Saturday my normal route was blocked off because of a weekly market, so that was a challenge. Hotel's wifi was down for our first 4 days of stay. Once it was repaired, the signal was quite weak so we couldn't do much on it even then. We were given only one set of keys; would have given us a bit more freedom if we had two sets. Over the weekend, very loud people were gathered on the street outside our windows until about 3am. Thus we had difficulty sleeping for two nights in a row. I don't know what they were doing, and it's not really the Hotel's fault what other people do, but it would have been nice for Hotel staff to take measures to protect the quiet after-hours (eg politely ask people to leave or be quiet near the hotel).

Pros: Location is beautiful, rooms are fresh and host is pleasant.
Cons: Only cabel-car can be used to reach at hotel. You can not drive there. Host should have mentioned it in the description that one can not drive to the hotel. Its on top of the mountain that is off-road and also a special permit is required if ones really want to drive(not allowed).

Pros: The view was amazing. Really breathtaking. Also the new owners are really friendly and hospitable. Very nice people! The rooms are renovated and comfortable. Dinner was great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Newly renovated and beautiful space with incredible views of the mountains. Gaby and Andy were wonderful hosts and their food is the best!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very recently remodeled so it’s beautiful. The windows are new so the view is extraordinary. The owners are very experienced, helpful and completely hands on.
Cons: They are working with booking.com to make it easier for complete newcomers to understand how get to the gondola that gets you to the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the location on the mountain and enjoyed the outstanding views. We were warmly greeted by the owners upon arriving and interacted with them during dinner and breakfast. The room was clean, inviting and contained a carafe for heating water. So happy to be able to have my tea. The details in the room and dining room made one feel at home. We had the Rosti and apple pie for dinner and both were outstanding. We loved our stay and give it the highest of high marks. We will definitely recommend to family and friends.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners/operators have put tremendous effort into modernizing the hotel, and have done so with great success. It has become a nice hotel that meets the needs of a wide array of travelers, from budget-conscious hikers to those seeking greater comforts. The dishes on offer in the restaurant are also of the highest standard (my father, in fact, said that the fish and chips was the best he had ever had). I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anybody seeking a retreat into the mountains, as it has extraordinary views, and great owners.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location when exploring central Switzerland. Close walking distance to town center. Good amound of parking spaces. There is a nice restaurant at the hotel with outdoor seating.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Very disappointed. It may be the oldest building, but they have built an industrial site around it. We weren’t even in in old hotel, but a concrete block next to it, which had a loading bay underneath. Very bad design, very noisy. Worst nights sleep & it was expensive!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good location for overnight stop back to Holland, giod restaurant. Excellent staff!
Cons: Room was very warm although it wasn’t a hot day. No airco just a fan.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: All meals here were very good.
Cons: Having a short walk to another building for the room. An additional soft chair in room.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location
7.5 Good
Pros: Modern spacious room with seating area, comfortable beds, small fridge, good basic breakfast, wifi worked well
Cons: Our room was cold with no ability to increase room temperature. Everything only in German except for the review sheet which was in English, pathetic given it is a tourist hotel
7.5 Good
Pros: Location was okay for walking into town.
Cons: No view. Our room looked out onto the loading docks, and the employee smoking area. Smoke came into our room during the night.
Hotel Sternen - Sisikon - Building
4
7.9 Good (280 reviews)
C$ 94+
Overview Reviews
Run by the same family since 1970, Hotel Sternen is just 350 metres from Lake Lucerne and Sisikon’s port. Its restaurant serves traditional Swiss dishes and offers winter and summer terraces. Wi-Fi is free in the entire hotel. Rooms here include wooden floors and satellite TV. There is an en suite bathroom in every room, with a shower and hairdryer. Traditional recipes at the restaurant include roast chicken served in wicker baskets, cheese fondue and fondue chinoise. Continental breakfast is also served daily at Sternen Hotel’s restaurant. Hotel Sternen is located on the E41 road, which crosses Switzerland from north to south and along the Swiss Path hiking track.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was really quiet because the main road was closed, so the hotel was nearly empty. Made to feel very welcome by the owners and the meal in the restaurant was great.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very kind, hospitable and helpful. The hotel is very close (5 min walk) to a basic but clean and well organized lake shore and to the train station and to the ferryboat stop. In addition to the hotel itself, there are a few other options for lunch/dinner in the close vicinity. Breakfast was reasonably rich (we even made sandwiches for lunch with it). The room was not enormous, but far enough to fit the three of us for a couple of days. The bathroom was external, but private. Everything very very clean. Wifi works well. I would recommend it to my friends.
Cons: Our room was reachable via a narrow staircase: no problem for us, but senior guests should ensure they would be able to reach the room (there might be an elevator somewhere but I have not checked). The room (on the street side) was a bit too noisy to sleep with open windows, but windows were very well soundproof. The price was of course high on Italy standards, but reasonable on Swiss standards.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location nice, owners very accomodating
Cons: It could be more comfortable
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a fantastic stay in the hotel. We booed the room for 6 people, which is perfect for for example 3 couples as it has 3 different bedrooms. All is simple but all what you need is there. What was especially great about this place is the owners. They are very friendly, and they were very helpful in finding solutions and helping us with questions. As it was not busy in the hotel we enjoyed a very late check-out for free and as 1 person had to work during 1 day they offered him to stay in an empty room for free. From the hotel you are within 5 minutes at the train station and at the ferry and on hiking trails. We enjoyed the incredible nature around and a great boat trip on the lake.
Cons: All was great, nothing specific that we did not like. If I could give an advice, it would be to make the breakfast a bit more fancy. There is already quite a lot, the main thing I missed was fresh fruit. (Review by Yvonne ;-))
7.5 Good
Pros: A bit outdated but but very clean
Cons: Location
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, nice room, very friendly and helpful staff. Would stay again.
7.5 Good
Pros: It was very clean and tidy, super easy to find, had parking even for the 2 cars that we had.
Cons: I booked in booking 2 twin beds, but we got one queen bed and the guy said they don't have 2 beds. Also the pillows were not comfortable for me. Maybe the host could put some standard ones in the wardrobe for whoever prefers normal pillows.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unfortunately we managed to arrive at the hotel a day early, but they were more than happy to give us a room for that night. Very friendly staff and good meals in the restaurant.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable and in a beautiful place
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is off the beaten path, which is what were were looking for. I didn't realize how off the beaten path when booking...but the road up is adventurous (in a good way) and the valley is stunning!! We were pleasantly surprised and happy to have found this cute little town and beautiful valley :) The hosts here very kind!
Cons: The room was VERY basic... but comfortable. This hotel is more about the surroundings then the quality of furnishings. As long as you aren't expecting luxury, you'll be happy ;)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, amazing view during the trip to reach the hotel. We didn't have to pay for the dog
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, staff, breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely great hotel located in a picturesque village. We had a lovely room with a small balcony and a fantastic view. Staff was really nice and polite. Top highlight is a restaurant that serves local food and has a selection of local cheese. Breakfast was great as well. Overall highly recommended!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast , a full range to choose from including home made jams etc. Great evening meals too. All the staff were very attentive and friendly. Location was a dream , getting there was hairy , to say the least, but what scenery! wow.
Cons: nothing!
6.3 Good
Cons: Food left a lot to be desired. Nothing freshly prepared - all out of freezer/packets. Most disappointing considering the price.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Once you reach the valley the view is awesome. The staffs was kind and helpful, rooms are clean without tv. The breakfast was more than enough.
Cons: We went with motorbikes and it was a bit difficult to climb to the valley.

Pros: Location ... great little drive up mountainside to reach typical Swiss village. So pretty.

Pros: Very friendly people. I had to leave early in the morning, they went out of their way to put out a breakfast for me the night before, with coffee in a flask, a very nice touch I thought.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The scenery of house is beautiful and we can see the snow mountains from our window. Furthermore, the hostess is warm hearted. She gave us very useful information in travelling rigi mountain
6.0 Good
Pros: The breakfast was outstanding and very plentiful. The area was beautiful. The bed was comfortable and the spotless.
Cons: The drive up the mountain was hairy since I am afraid of heights. If you like an adventure this drive is for you! The views were unbelievable!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was fantastic stay! 1. The hosts are very welcoming, nice, kind and willing to help you - I've booked for wrong dates, wrote them a message and they changed the booking date without any problem. Even they do not speak English they've did everything to make us feel at home, to make sure we're comfortable, the room is warm and we understand the menu in the restaurant. 2. The restaurant - delicious and nice! We had the feeling we're not in a restaurant but in my grandmother's kitchen and she's preparing the food especially for us. Do not miss the Hirschschnitzel an Holunder, Portweinsauce or Hirschfilet Walti - the best game meat I've ever tasted. The breakfast is also delicious with their Swiss muеsly and really homemade marmalade (Elisabeth, the owner, was so proud with it and it was really good). 3. It was sparkly clean, beds are comfortable and most important pillows are good, not like most often found very soft ones. 4. The house - it's very old as someone mentioned 400 years. It's nicely decorated in common areas, rooms are not posh or luxury but have everything needed for a comfortable stay. The water pressure in bathroom is high enough. 5. The road to the Isenthal is a gem :) Some people did complain it's very narrow and yes it is, but it's sooo beautifuly twisty and show you such magnificent views to the lake and surrounding mountains that I would go there again only for it. Thank you Elisabeth and Walter for your hospitality! We will gladly return to enjoy it and the beautiful area again!
Cons: none
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We were four adults with one almost two year old. Although we stayed only for one night, we were welcomed as if we were family! We were given toys for our daughter, enjoyed a wonderful dinner, with a small dish especially made four our daughter. The gasthaus is 400 years old and breaths history, surrounded by mountains! We enjoyed every bit of our stay!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel, helpful stuff, excellent food!
Cons: The room decor is a bit simple, but that's fine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super quiet town with everything we wanted: green meadows and hiking trails right outside the hotel (The Swiss Trail), cows and sheep with bells seen and heard in the distance, the amazing Lake Lucerne a quick 300m walk away with a public swimming entry and dock to jump off of (rarely a person other than us there), extremely good food for dinner, ample continental breakfasts, and wonderful views of the lake from the room terrace. The Lake is gorgeous and we avoided a crowded city to see it!
Cons: Some may balk at the trains consistently running by. However, they aren’t loud enough to disrupt sleep and they actually add to the “small Swiss town” vibe.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful area
Cons: No coffee maker in room
5.8 Okay
Pros: Friendly owners and staff. Good food albeit expensive.
Cons: Room dark and beside busy road so noisy

Pros: Lovely location on the bank of Lake Lucerne. Car park right outside (free for hotel guests). Restaurant looks out over the river. Our waitress spoke good English which was a great help to us. Lovely food. Nice room, well furnished and looked brand newly done.
