8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hostel is right outside the wall so perfect location. Also, the food served was tasty, the room quiet and clean
Cons: Keep in mind that there is nothing to do outside seeing the wall. Besided that, the staff only speaks chinese and because of the language barrier they made me pay more than what I had ordered. This happened two times, and can be easily avoided if they take note of the orders.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good location and clean place
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved how close it was to the wall and that we had the wall basically to ourselves! The room was so big and clean and such a treat, we wished we had stayed another night! The staff were so helpful and lovely.
Cons: That it wasn’t as easy to get to and from without a car.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious and very cozy, homely room. Well ventilated. Artistic decor esp the shower room. With water kettle for coffee drinkers like us. No phone but installed WeChat to get their attention. With delicious dish for vegetarian like me. Hotel manager drove and picked us up at Badaling Ski Resort and back to the train. Very near Yanqing Great Wall, a short walk to the gate, and short drive up to the hiking trail for 10 CNY. But we failed to go to Badaling Great Wall due to time constraint. The hotel is good place to relax in the room or in the restaurant. It has positive vibes. Quiet place during our stay last Dec 16-18, 2019. Great place to see and experience the snow for the first time.
Cons: No Engligh translation app. After several failed calls, it took a long time to find help from an English literate girl to call again and talk to hotel manager about our last minute request for pick up which they agreed to do at 5pm, or about 3 hours waiting, but after communicating through booking.com for a much earlier pick-up, they immediately picked us up. We should have arranged the pick up earlier. Advise: it is best to arrange ahead of time the arrival and pick up time at the station to avoid above inconvenience for just a minimal fee. They told me I left my tripod. Well, because they probably trusted us so much they didn't check our room before we left.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are two very lovely Chinese locals, husband and wife, and they are the most welcoming, warm and generous people. I was very impressed by the wonderful location and the friendly service. The hosts offer more than what's expected and provide you with any good advice or a coffee or whatever you need, for free. If I ever come back to the Wall, I will definitely visit again. Thank you :) 谢谢
Cons: I was probably visiting at a very odd time of the year because I was the only guest in the entire location and thus it felt a bit weird to be completely alone in a guest house where usually lots of different people meet and have a chat. But it's not necessarily a negative point, just something to mention. I visited on Nov 19 and 20 in 2019.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owner was amazingly nice and helpful. He helped us book a driver to visit the region and find the local spots to mingle with the villages and share in their local culture. Really beautiful place to explore through villages and mountains, right by the Great Wall.
Cons: Only downside is that where the hotel is located at, the village is in major renovation due to the upcoming Olympics. Kills of the charm of the place, but once its fully up and running, that village will be stunning and this hotel will be your best choice in the region.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owners were helpful and kind.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hostel is very close to the Great Wall. It has a nice interior courtyard and the rooms are clean with a pleasant design. The staff is not speaking English but they are using apps to translate, which is really useful.
Cons: Can be noisy early in the mornings because people are having breakfast in the interior courtyard,
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host was very welcoming. The hostel felt like a small community to us.
Cons: Vivan and her staff made my family and feel very welcome. They helped us with ticket to the Great Wall Badaling so we didnt have to wait in line to purchase tickets. And arrange transportation to the Longqingxia Gorge for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our family stayed one night here before we climbed wall in the morning. It was a good decision because we avoided the crowd by heading to the wall early in the morning. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. Highly recommended!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s a fabulous experience staying with the family who owns the property. Very friendly and very helpful, can speak moderately good English, delicious homemade fresh noodle soup for dinner, and an exceptionally quiet place for a good rest and recharge away from the busy city life!! Will come back again and highly recommend to friends!
Cons: A little difficult to find for first timers but very responsive owner who spoke directly with the taxi driver to help find the way. Maybe a few more food options will be nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My first time going to the Great Wall. We decided to go the night before so that we walk to the wall early the next day. It was the best decision because we beat the crowd. And, the best part was staying at this lodge. A traditional Chinese lodge/hostel, very clean, comfortable, and run by a very nice family. They were very friendly, polite, and kind to us. The lodge was only ~ 7 minutes walk to the wall. I will go back and highly recommend this place.
6.3 Good
Pros: The courtyard style was nice, though it was a bit too crowded with furniture. The hotel was super close to the Great Wall. Staff were lovely.
Cons: It’s on a road which is under construction so quite dusty and busy. Had been hoping it would feel more like a small village location. Room was small - lucky we only had small backpacks. No closets or room to open a large suitcase.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff and owner. They gave us very good tips about activities and restaurants around. The courtyard is very peaceful and kids friendly, exactly what we needed :)
Cons: Currently there are big works in the village which makes it very dusty outside, difficult for sensitive people... but once inside the courtyard it is OK.

7.0 Good
Pros: The Hotel location is beautiful. I can see that the property would have been stunning when first completed. The rooms are tired however the over all location of the property and access to the Great Wall via private path was fantastic. I was the only person on the wall at this section.
Cons: The bed was quite hard, no mini bar in room, and the room was a little tired
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location and fantastic hotel great staff
Cons: It seems that it’s more for groups than families
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, Staff were very helpful, good food, and wonderful rooms with great views.
Cons: We liked everything and would highly recommend.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: the location is fabulous. The architecture is iconic - ok its not brand spanking new but it is nonetheless superb. The e-bikes were a lot of fun for my 8 year old and I. The hiking trail leading to the private entrance to the Great Wall is spectacular.
Cons: Taxi fares are very high. I would suggest making contact with a Yanqing taxi driver and using a translation app to organise your transport. The hotel would have charged us 1,000 rmb for a 5 hour slow trip back to the airport. Our friendly driver charged 400rmb. The hotel is Chinese oriented so don’t expect a Hyatt regency western breakfast. Nonetheless with a. Bit of imagination bacon and eggs is almost possible!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The private wall access is absolutely unrivalled. An incredible experience. And absolutely worth the price. Chinese food was very good. Pool is gorgeous. Room service was quick and efficient. Staff very nice, really liked the restaurant staff. Kids play area is beautiful but should be complimentary. The villas and setting is magical. Will return for sure.
Cons: Bathroom plumbing needs an upgrade Overall facilities probably need update (indoor) and new furniture for the common areas would be nice. Kids play area should be free.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Quality of facilities and staff very very poor for a hotel branding itself as luxury / 5*.
4.0 Okay
Pros: very good location, suitable for family gathering especially with children
Cons: staffs are polite with good atitude, however they are quite inefficient - especially in the way responsing to client's requirements in time and organize checking out at rush hours
4.2 Okay
Pros: Has private access to Great Wall. But only small portion
Cons: We paid $400 for the room but The hotel even cut the supply of A/C in the room which is not meeting a standard for 3 star hotel! A cheap behavior for the manager of the hotel!! We asked for fan and they spent whole night and not able to provide. Definitely not recommending for people to stay. Not worth the money!!
