Pros: We enjoyed a perfect 3 generations family stay here, visiting our daughter nearby. The family-run hotel is clean, welcoming and very friendly. English is spoken. We ate several evenings in the restaurant hotel and the food is excellent. Its location near the road from Rome to Pescara was easy to access and a perfect base for visiting the Grand Sasso National Park - an area of outstanding beauty. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel if you are looking for value for money, good food, cleanliness and a friendly atmosphere.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is out of the way but the views were beautiful and the atmosphere very tranquil. Really lovely place with excellent staff.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I was a little taken aback when we first arrived at the old convent. It was late afternoon and I found the interior dark, in part because of the relatively small bedroom windows....it is however a 500 year old building. The "balcony" of our specific room consisted of a glass door that opened onto a one foot ledge enclosure and even though it was not a real balcony, I was pleased with the additional exterior light. I grew to really enjoy the charm of the convent, its welcoming and helpful staff and its delicious dinners of locally grown food and traditional dishes. It was a great place to return to after exploring the stunning surrounding areas and sites.

Pros: Nice breakfast, good restaurant and very attentive staff
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Everything else was fabulous. If you want serenity, lovely welcoming staff and a wonderful area to stay in, this is it. The garden is beauiful, & the views are stunning. Sunsets are amazing. The food & staff in the restaurant were good & at 20€ per head, no complaints. Continental breakfast was okay. There is a common tea room & another common area to enjoy. There is lot to love about this place and just a couple of niggles.
Cons: The light switch had fallen behind the wall, and I had to put my hand in to turn on the lights. I was told it would be fixed but it wasn't, disappointing. The toilet leaked and when I got up to use the bathroom in the dark the was a large puddle of water on the floor. I reported it but again nothing.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very special property -- renaissance building, beautifully restored. Super peaceful and friendly place. Delightful home base to visit this outdoor paradise. Very lovely and well cared for garden is a pleasure! Abundant breakfast spread and there were only the 4 of us staying at the hotel on this day.
Cons: Small complaint -- would have appreciated a comfortable spot to sit and lean my laptop in the room. The loggia is spectacular, but it was chilly in the evening, too cold to sit outside. In warm weather the garden would be perfect place to sit, hang out, work, correspond, etc.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Within a very nicely kept renaissance building the hotel respects the tradition of its interiors, doors, floors, furniture and even the keys! The bathroom on the otherhand had all the comforts of modernity. Both the room and all the public spaces were extremely clean and the hotel owner truly kind and helpful. Loved the stay.

Pros: Fantastic breakfasts in a beautiful B and B.

Pros: That was our second time in this b&b and definitely not the last! The place is perfect, very cozy, spectacular, atmospheric. Looking forward to come back in spring :) Highly recommended!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely terrific old palazzo with many of the old features. Just what you visit Italy to see. Barisciano also was a fascinating little hillside village to wander around.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast Owner and staff Location
Cons: Lovely character building. Pleasant outlook. Fantastic breakfast. Could do a ceiling fan.hot weather. At the time. Lovely staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts went out of their way to make our stay amazing. They offered to drive us to places for dinner. I had a bad cold they walked me to the pharmacy and helped me get medicine. I was also there looking for family members and they called people to find them. Wonderful hosts and beautiful B&B. Loved it
Cons: Not a thing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We had two rooms - family with 5 adults - 2 in La Suite del Pintoricchio, and 3 adult kids in room with 2 bedrooms, La Camera del Botticelli. Beds were large & very comfortable. Bathrooms were nice, a bit small but ok for one person getting ready. Plenty of hot water. No air conditioning but our suite had oscillating fan in the upper loft near bed to keep it cool. Pretty little stove/sink with coffee pots & a refrigerator were convenient. Water, liqueurs & coffee pots were in both rooms. Suite was lovely & spacious; many electrical outlets. Gorgeous yard - bright red flowers, tables, & a little fountain pond; beautifully lit at night. Nice to sit outside especially in cooler evenings. You can see the mountains from the yard! It was the most beautiful place we stayed at in our 5-hotel trip in Italy! Delicious & plentiful breakfast. Tables set with linens, flowers & candles in a stone and arched room - a lovely setting. Excellent coffee - owner even went to the well-stocked store on site for decaffeinated coffee to make my cappuccino - he remembered it for me the next day! (I bought candy & cookies sold there for family we met for the first time; he took me to the store to find a gift bag & the staff found some ribbon - made the gift extra-special!) (I don't speak Italian & he spoke just a bit of English, but it worked!) The breakfast offered lovely cakes that changed daily, pizzelles, hard boiled eggs, cereal, salamis, luncheon meats & cheeses, yogurts, juices, fruit, melon, & coffee made to order! We felt very pampered - we really liked this B&B! Very kind owners. We would definitely return. Nearby to Prata d'Ansedonia & close to Peltuinum - an interesting archeological site. Visited Santo Stefano di Sessanio - not too far away, & L'Aquila as well.
Cons: No air conditioning; the fan was helpful. Fans in the 2-bedroom room would be a plus. Could use more surfaces to store luggage; had only a couch; the 2 bedroom suite had nothing. Most of our luggage was on the floor. There were nice large dressers and armoires in each room. Door keys were a bit tricky to learn at first.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely stunning property, exterior and interior. Design and taste is exquisite throughout the property. Adriano was welcoming, kind, and provide plenty of information about how to organize our sightseeing activities in the region. The breakfast area was gorgeous and the food selection substantial and excellent. Our room was well appointed and lovely. Parking was nearby in a public open area very close to the property. Excellent location for visiting the area.
Cons: The bathroom toilet/bidet had a strange round design and were a bit small and uncomfortable, but this is really a minor point. The windows in our room didn't have screens, but we were not bothered by insects.

Pros: Great experience in a wonderful location. Enjoyed our stay immensely.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: A superb and unique location.
Cons: A comfy chair would have made a difference.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We simply loved our stay in Sextantio. It's a unique place, where the smallest detail is taken care of, making the whole experience unbeatable. Sextantio is not just a hotel, it's a whole experience. We can't wait to go back!
Cons: Nothing.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast room is lovely. A toaster would have been nice. (If there was one there I didn't see it.) Orange juice for breakfast would also be a nice addition. The hiking trail from Santo Stefano to Rocca Calascio is awesome. Better signage for tourists to find the trail head in Santo Stefano and Calascio would be helpful. We lucked into it at Rocca Calascio.
Cons: We had trouble with the shower both the night of our check-in---and---the following morning. My wife took an evening shower and the water went back and forth from scalding hot to freezing cold. In the morning---I tried for 10 minutes to get hot water to no avail. Again---MUCH better signage is needed for tourists (from USA) to locate the reception.
7.9 Good
Pros: We never were up early enough for breakfast as we like to sleep in on vacation. We went to their tea room to get yogurt and tea which was lovely although a bit pricey. Their restaurant was good. We absolutely loved the idea behind the hotel. The surrounding area is gorgeous. We love how they have updated the rooms. It's very cool to say in a place that feels so ancient. We loved the concept. The rooms are very beautiful. It is quite a unique place. We stayed in Alchemista and it was lovely. Staff was lovely and quite helpful.
Cons: The beds are quite firm. I know they are trying to be authentic but we would have loved extra pillows (only two were on each bed). A few extra touches of comfort would've been nice. It was also unfortunate that you had to choose between having a nice big bath tub (which I loved) or having a shower (which my boyfriend would've appreciated). There needs to a shower available in every room even if there's already a tub. At least they could add a hand held shower that can be used in the tub. While we loved the concept of the hotel we do think for the price there are a few luxuries which need to be included. A few warm touches in the room like flowers/plants/extra blankets/ extra pillows. Having someone to help carry bags at all hours would've been helpful as we had to carry our bags from our room all the way to our car. The mini cart would've been helpful if everyone on staff could use it. Also the whole town is still under construction so there are scaffolds up. That didn't bother us at all but it's important to note!
5.4 Okay
Pros: Brekafast was fine and better than the dinner.
Cons: Just too hard a bed for older people and the floor was confronting to walk on barefoot. Overall just too rustic for us. Lighting in the street was inadequate returning from the restaurant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A high quality service level in an exciting middle age reference.A special thanks to Sonia for her professional advices during our stay. A benchmark for eachone who is looking for successful buildings renovation , executive mood and visitors welcome.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location and medieval environment
Cons: The toilet really bad , not comfortable and got all wet after shower . The lights in toilet and living room have sensors so all of the sudden while taking a shower or sitting in living room , they turn off .
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is located amid the National Parks of Abruzzo with surrounding scenes superior to filming locations in "The Sound of Music" (Salzburg area). Medieval town partially restored with attention to minimal and true historical character but an overlay of unpretentious elegance.
Cons: Staff is over-the-top friendly and helpful in genuine way. Room is rustic but ultra-modern in toilet/tub plumbing etc. Bed is large but you need to like a very firm mattress. Many details stay true to local, historical character from the artisan foods served to the shampoo provided. A once in a lifetime experience.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: staff are great, lovely character to the place, stepping back in time

Pros: Basically...everything! Santo Stefano city center is amazing. Also the 2 bedrooms flat where we stayed was excellent. Breakfast on the table with everything you would desire (fresh bakery/fruits/yogurt/milk/coffee maker etc..) Parking is near by juts few mins away from the Hotel.
Cons: Shower is probably the only thing but Staff told me they will be renovating very soon then it will be perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This village is a must. Everyone needs to visit this village at least once.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the location, charming wonderful characteristic narrow paths that wound through the village. Stefano is located in a national park and the drive up to it and beyond is amazing! Our accommodation was very reasonably priced and included a self catering kitchen, breakfast was left out for us to help ourselves. Word of advice, if you intend to eat out it's a good idea to book early as the restaurants get full quickly.
Cons: Nothing!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location is amazing! Very typical italian "borgo" with friendly and helpful staff. House very nice with very cozy fireplace. Needs to be visited again. From there easy to reach many nice places. Beautiful specially during winter when all the old town is cover by snow. Yoy can really feel the mountain life.
Cons: Being winter the bathroom was a bit cold. Missing proper heating in that room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tastefully decorated, spacious and well located
Cons: The only negative aspect was the environmental impact of the large number of individually plastic wrapped items provided for breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is magical; unique and everything had been thought through - from the kitchen equipment to advice on where to eat etc. I would certainly stay here again and will recommend.
Cons: As mentioned to the manager, cereal bowls for breakfast muesli. Otherwise, it was perfect. Quiet, yet within walking distance of little restaurants, where we ate really well. Amazing!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely amazing property, welcome pack of local food selection and tranquility of the area! Great check-in experience with no problem. Most of people in the village making in effort to speak to us in English (our Italian is very limited) and in addition being very friendly (apart from the manager of La Bettola di Geppetto). Santo Steffano is close to Grotte di Stiffe and Rocca - fully recommended. Should be even more romantic when fireplace is lit up (only allowed November to April).
Cons: Heating is controlled centrally and only comes up at 5.30pm, thus can be a bit chilli before that time during non-summer months.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Historic and beautiful surroundings and a well renovated but carefully preserved part of the village. Warm and we'll presented with am abundance of quality food for breakfast.
Cons: Shower was a little small.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at the 2 bedrooms flat upstairs. We really like the flat, well traditionally furnished. Breakfast also very nice with local products, fruits and biscuits. I find the yogurt delicious. Santo Stefano di Sessanio is a pure gem together with Campo Imperatore.
Cons: We did not sleep very well because of the mattress. We fould it not comfortable at all, too soft/thin with springs pocket still. I would suggest to renovate it to make this flat perfect. We could not find any instructions for the fireplace (wood also not there) and reception/staff not always present to ask in case you need anything. It would have been nice in these cold days. Small details can make the difference.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very local, friendly owner , truly an old experience.
Cons: Breakfast, decor, the owner, the yard ❤️
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Abundant fresh food, including fresh eggs, homemade yogurt, breads, muffins, jams, apples, grape, bananas, juices, coffee. Clean, lovingly prepared, including towels shaped into swans, and beautifully decorated in perfectly cared for 200 year old home. Friendly owners, caring staff. Bicycles, including power bikes available.
Cons: WiFi worked one main room only.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent place to stay in Santo Stefano. Location, the hostesses, room and breakfast were worth more than 5 stars. Definitely will come back here!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a perfect stay. The loft apartment was just right for my son and I. We had a well equipped kitchen and an exceptionally clean bathroom. The underfloor heating was an added bonus but the standout was the breakfast consisting of homemade bread and sweets as well as fresh eggs and homemade yoghurt. There was enough to feed four not just the two of us. Carmen allowed us to check in early and gave us great directions for some walks we wanted to do. There is plenty of parking and the accommodation is only 5 minutes walk to the centre of town. I would absolutely recommend and we wish we could have stayed for more than one night.
Cons: We loved everything but our stay was too short.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: The location.
Cons: The fact that there was never any staff available at the property to ask important questions during a week long stay in the area. Unfortunately, despite giving our arrival time to check in after a long journey there was no staff when we arrived or a key or a note. After a long wait, another guest with an Italian phone arrived and was kind to call for us! No one available during check out either!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was an amazing stay! It's an old farmhouse in a midievil village. We had an apartment with two bedrooms. One of the bedroom was downstairs and the rest of the unit was ground level. Friendly and helpful host. Everything was very nice. Breakfast was provided and in the apartment for us to eat at our leisure. It included homemade yogurt, eggs, fruit, homemade breads, homemade jams, juice and some cookies. The little village was just across the road and was so nice to wander around. They were having their Lentil Festival the weekend we were there so there was a lot of people out and about. This was a fantastic place to stay!

Pros: Spartak took care of us and made our stay perfect. Amazing property. We checked in way too early but they gave us a room which was bigger than the one we booked and they didn’t charge us extra. Such history in the inn. Beautiful!
Cons: It was perfect as it was.

Pros: Mario and Andrea were extremely friendly and welcoming.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The Locanda makes beautiful food, the staff is kind, welcoming and helpful. The room is spacious, looking right at the old town.
Cons: Unfortunately hot water stopped working for a bit, other than that nothing of note. There was a street food festival right in front of the hotel and with the windows closed volumes were manageable.

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is an old palazzo with original features and very in-keeping with the effort in the area to retain the old rustic past of the village. The room was really nice, clean and fresh with a nice view of the village. I especially liked the bathroom and old doors and windows. The food was really tasty and even though I don't eat meat, the kitchen always created something really nice. A great place for all ages and a spectacular area for walking, sport or visiting the sites. Go check it out.
Cons: Leaving!

Pros: Sweet little details; homelike atmosphere; extra-wonderful host; best egg ever; juice from an antique no-longer commercialized fruit.

Pros: The medieval atmosphere, in particular in the breakfast room. Nice interior decorations. The very nice service and homemade breakfast. We got good advice for our hiking excursions. The location inside the old town.
Cons: Not a problem for us, but it was not suitable for people with disabilities e.g. if you have problem with stairs staying in the old town and this B&B may be challenging.

Pros: The building was beautiful and classic with the look and feel of a medieval town but everything was updated, modern, and extremely clean.

Pros: The hosts went out of their way to make our stay amazing. They offered to drive us to places for dinner. I had a bad cold they walked me to the pharmacy and helped me get medicine. I was also there looking for family members and they called people to find them. Wonderful hosts and beautiful B&B. Loved it
