10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were accommodated on the ground floor as my wife has issues with stairs. No problem for the proprietors
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Tranquil setting. Very clean and well equipped apartment with small extra, and thoughtful touches. Lovely shower room with power shower and plenty of hot water. Comfortable bed. Friendly, welcoming and helpful hosts.
Cons: The property is old and has the charm of a bygone era, but in my view needs some updating for today's market. The kitchenette area of the two bedroom apartment, in particular needs to be remodelled as it was a challenge to use and would benefit from an open plan approach. I wonder whether the owners have plans and it is a work in progress. My comments are meant to be constructive and not critical.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very peaceful place with wonderful surroundings. The host couple are very friendly and most helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My second visit to this beautiful, and welcoming hotel, was, as expected, a truly memorable experience. Mark and Desi offer an uncomplicated, and genuinely, warm service. Never has the term, "nothing is too much trouble" been so accurate, when describing their attitude to their guests. We spent the first night in a first floor room, due to my booking error. The beds are the most comfortable i've ever slept in. The rooms are immaculately clean, and tastefully decorated. A nice touch was the USB chargers in the wall socket, and its these simple things, that make the room so nice. The ground floor one bedroom apartment was incredible. I was stunned at the value for money these apartments offer. It is huge. A large bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and large lounge with flatscreen TV. Breakfast is incredible with a full english, cereal, fruit, and yoghurt part of the spread. Everything to make a guest comfortable is too be found here. The gardens are wonderful, and tranquil, and at night its a dark site, making star viewing perfect. The biggest bonus of all for me is the fact that it connects directly to Woody Bay station, where the world famous Lynton to Barnstaple steam engines reside. I was genuinely sad to leave here, but cannot wait to return here.
Cons: Having to leave :(

6.3 Good
Pros: The restaurant and staff were excellent
Cons: The manager suggested to another guest that My husband was “going to do a runner “ when all he was doing was checking the bill. This was so rude it spoilt the whole experience and of course was ridiculous anyway as we had booked through you many happy times and you have all our details.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The exterior of the building looks lovely with a wonderful sense of old world charm. Grounds were very well maintained. The bathroom was a good size with heated floor.
Cons: The ground floor room was dark; the furniture badly stained and looked in need of refurbishment; the room was cold and could not turn on any heating; had to request a room heater; the lounge was very cold and dark and the staff member did not know how to turn on the main lights; could not make warmer as the main central heating was off. Main restaurant was expensive; food was delicious and the staff most pleasant. Breakfast was lovely.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was great and spacious. The staff lovely.
Cons: The breakfast could be improved slightly and vary day on day, we stayed 3 nights and had the same options every day.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property. Fantastic service in restaurant. Great fresh cooked breakfast.
Cons: Poor detail in room cleaning, old towels left in bathroom, new ones not delivered until requested. Food expensive. No pastries or croissants on days 1 and 2 at breakfast even though listed on menu. Could do with a little cold cheese and meats adding to breakfast buffet.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely welcoming staff, absolutely gorgeous room, beautiful grounds, stunning breakfast area, attentive staff, special extras like freshly baked cookies in the room.
Cons: We only had a shower in our room. It would have been great if they'd been a bath as well.
7.5 Good
Pros: The food and the garden suite that we had.was very good.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: My husband and I traveled for the Bank Holiday weekend, the cottage was absolutely beautiful, nicely decorated, the bed was really comfortable, coffee machine was a nice addition. Really friendly staff and well trained.
Cons: There is a lack of intimacy for the outside area, if you take your coffee outside the neighbors are looking into your cup
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was lovely. Best coffee. Good wine. Wonderful staff and service. Location: Tranquil
Cons: I couldn't book Spa treatments. It would have added to the already great experience. The hotel could do with spa facilities everyday. That was the only thing missing.
9.6 Excellent
Cons: Very nice hotel. Probably a little overpriced. But worth the visit.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Room well equipped and comfortable.
Cons: We would expect staff to remember our special dietary needs from one day to the next

9.6 Excellent
Pros: A lovely secluded B&B with accomodating and friendly owners. The room was fabulous & even had it's own little sitting room :-) En-suite was a large wet room with thoughtful lighting which could be dimmed at night so if one person needed to use the loo the other wasn't woken up by a bright light - great idea :-) Breakfast was varied, fullsome, and beautifully cooked. They even offered Earl Grey tea for me which was fantastic.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like, everything was just fine.
9.6 Excellent

Pros: The location is amazing with a great, clean house and a really nice garden, with a pond. We love dogs and the host had two beautiful dogs. We had the feeling that we are home, visiting our lovely family and they were happy to see us and chat with us. We really had a great time and was our first time staying at a B&B and this was the best experience that we could've ask for. The dining room was very nice arranged and the plating( plates, cups, tea cups) were very classy. The breakfast was tasty and the host just so nice! Highly recommend this B&B!!!!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I was pleasantly surprised to find how beautifully decorated the bedrooms were and it seemed no expense had been spared. It was very good taste and very comfortable. The food was also excellent, especially the evening menu. Really liked the owners too and the plethora of little black cats around the place. Also enjoyed sitting in the pretty little garden at the back. I think the Fox and Goose is a little jewel set deep in the countryside and would definitely stay again.
Cons: Maybe a bit more variety in breakfast cereal would have been nice, i.e. muesli. Also, thinking about it, maybe it would be nice to get some of that excellent taste in decor into the downstairs area, i.e. getting rid of the antlers!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Helpful & friendly staff. Excellent variety for breakfast. Bedroom & bathroom very good standard. Shortbread & flapjack in bedroom on arrival was a nice touch. Very good selection of home cooked evening meals.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Great location, peaceful and lovely views. The rooms are exceptional and very clean and comfortable. We had a good sleep on all 3 nights. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: Food was excellent and all the staff were welcoming and friendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bedrooms were to a high standard. Fresh milk in the room. Excellent breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: On arrival the hosts (Nicky(or Nikki/Nicki) & Paul) were extremely welcoming and friendly. Location is very good if you need somewhere quiet & tranquil. Nice selection at the bar, and the food is exceptional, including the breakfast. Lots of thoughtful touches that others could learn from - bath sheets not little towels, fresh milk in a vacuum flask rather than fussy little milk cartons, walk in shower, ground coffee & a little percolator (in the room). Very clean & comfortable. I consider myself a fairly frequent business traveller and this is amongst the best value and most enjoyable places I have experienced. Unless I find something equal or better, within a 30 mile radius, I'd chose to stay here.
Cons: I wish I could think of something to moan or complain about - I can't!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were two couples on motorbikes touring Devon and Cornwall for a long weekend. Wished we had made this one our base. Such lovely staff. Excellent food. Excellent rooms, everything thought of. So clean. Had to give this 10/10! Dont usually bother writing reviews but just had to do this one. Great find. Certainly go back.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: GOOD CHOICE OF STARTERS AND PLENTY OF COOKED ITEMS FOR BREAKFAST
Cons: CHOICE OF EVENING MEALS.I STAYED 5 NIGHTS SO I HAD SOME ITEMS TWICE.

9.2 Excellent

Cons: Needed a shower in the room otherwise would’ve been five out of five
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We received a super friendly welcome and an offer of tea and chocolate cake, which was very welcome after a long walk along the coast path. Dinner was down the hill at the Hunters Inn and we were offered a lift at the end of our meal to save our legs. Pat and Mark made our stay very pleasant indeed, nothing was too much trouble and we felt very welcome.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: So friendly and welcoming, very clean and comfy. Excellent breakfast.
6.7 Good
Pros: Left before breakfast so couldn't comment. Location good if you are a walker.
Cons: Our room had a strong smell of damp and little natural light.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing breakfast, fantastic room, great local advice.
Cons: nothing
7.9 Good
Cons: The property was lovely and the hosts were very kind. The road getting to the property needs to be spoken about on the advertisement as it is a very tricky and worrying road to drive up. I am an experienced driver and I felt uneasy on this road as it’s steep with no room to make a small error. This prevented me from coming and going from the property as I would have linked to as I didn’t feel confident on the road. I am an experienced police driver and this would be my reason not to stay here again. My son who is 6 years old was poorly and the location didn’t have any phone signal and an ambulance wouldn’t have been able to reach the property so I felt very isolated and therefore felt I needed to leave 2 nights early
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Mark and Pat are the most gracious of hosts and were completely lovely and welcoming. The room was highly clean and the views across the valley were spectacular. We were all very tied after a day trekking across Saunton Sands and we was welcomed with lovely chocolate cake and tea which were duly dispatched with aplomb by my wife and child. Thanks for your hospitality and for sure we will be back to visit Heddon valley, with the in-laws next time:)
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet and scenic location, the hosts were great. I recommend this hotel.
Cons: There is no phone signal for mobile in the area but the hotel does have high speed internet
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent. Owners were extremely friendly and welcoming (with tea and a large slice of chocolate cake served on the terrace on arrival).
Cons: Location rather remote - accessed by narrow lanes.

Cons: We didn't dislike the hotel but it was a bit too modern for us, but absolutely perfect if you like modern .for us it didn't have the homely touches but that's just our taste.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Restaurant was excellent definite 10 out of 10!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was the stand out feature for us and, we had the most peaceful sleep of recent months. My husband is vegan and, you were able to provide him with something to eat that met his needs, we dropped marks on the food as he had order a vegan chilli dish that didn't have much flavour, and was quite pricey.
Cons: some of the vegan option food
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast Excellent bedding and pillows Comfortable bed. Very friendly and polite staff.
Cons: Small room next to stairs had to walk outside to get to Hotel.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location for Barnstable and surround areas was excellent. Car Parking was good.
Cons: The 4 Star Hotel may have been excellent, but we were located in the "Garden Suite", which has a fabulous view of the car park and no garden. As it was separate from the hotel, you never felt part of the hotel as you never had to go in to the main building. The room, although very clean , was quite cramped and for this reason, was not worth the money we paid. The cleaning staff were excellent - we never saw any other staff apart from the Reception, to log in and pay. They came across a bit short and curt, as if we were an inconvenience.

Pros: Excellent cooked breakfast

Pros: Everything
Cons: The bottled water in the room was not replaced once used but other than that everything was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff and room were lovely
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the food in the Bistro. We liked the fact that the Hotel supports local/West Country businesses by using their products to promote goods. The staff were 1st class and couldn't do enough for you.
Cons: The room would have benefitted having a minibar/fridge. With the towel rails being constantly on, the room gets too hot, even with the bathroom door closed. Perhaps air conditioning should be considered. Although they provided a desktop fan, we still had to have the window open and listen to all the drunks singing and shouting!!!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location, parking
Cons: Walls between us seemed pretty thin. Could hear the neighbors fussing about in the middle of the night and in the morning discussing one bag or two (tea) decisions. Glad we only adjoined one other unit

Pros: Everything! The hotel was like being in a dream: 1. Food was amazing, and at a great price 2. The leisure/spa was just heavenly, I didn’t want to get out of those pools! 3. Decor and rooms were an absolute joy to be in 4. Staff were so well trained, hardworking and pleasant to deal with. 5. I loved the amenities in the area around hotel 6. I keep thinking of hotel, and can’t wait to come back
Cons: Nothing, keep doing what you’re doing
6.7 Good
Pros: Our first room was poor, but we moved to a refurbished room which was much better. Good sized, comfy bed. Good shower pressure. Very helpful and attentive staff. Indoor pool of a decent size (14m) to have a short swim in the morning, and a smaller heated outdoor pool which was nice to relax in (although lots of kids when we stayed due to summer holidays!)
Cons: The first room we were given was very tired and rough around the edges. Paintwork chipping off, horrible carpet with stains, the chairs and decor were just very worn and although clean, just looked a bit grubby because of their age. The bathroom, again was clean but very tired. Expected a higher standard for £90 per night - this was a room you'd expect for half that. However the hotel staff were very helpful and, after expressing our disappointment they moved us to a refurbished room which was much better. We still expected a little more compared to the photos on the website and the money paid - but it was perfectly acceptable. Not the greatest location on a busy main road, but this didn't affect our sleep or anything. There was also a wedding taking place on the Friday night at the hotel - we could faintly hear the music but again it didn't disrupt our sleep.

Cons: nil

Cons: Nothing that I don't like only if I could stay bit long
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bathroom was really clean, large selection of tea, coffee and biscuits, the pools, the bar and the restaurant (friendly staff and great food).
Cons: In some instances the presence of an elevator could be useful. I booked a standard family room, which is spacious for two people sharing the big bed, but luckily we didn’t need the spare bed, because it would have been tight..!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such professional and attentive staff, two pools, good quality food and kids club an added bonus!
Cons: Nothing!
7.5 Good
Pros: I thought the decor of the hotel was very pleasant. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The swimming pools and changing rooms were excellent and I liked the fact they stayed open late.
Cons: It would have been nice if there was a swimming costume spinner/dryer in the changing rooms. As a hotel guest it was difficult to get the costumes dry in time for the next swim.

6.7 Good
Pros: Hotel itself and staff were lovely.
Cons: We had mews room (403) which itself was ok but smelt of damp, bed was way to soft and uncomfortable but worst was where it was we had back of kitchens right outside and was woken at 6am both mornings. Understandably had to be there but way way far too noisy - not ideal room situated. Two very early mornings.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Directions to get there by car.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Central location, friendly staff, good breakfast & generally a good hotel
Cons: Room 207 was a rather basic room with a window overlooking a path that was noisy at night with revellers. The window mechanism was faulty so we could not have it open just a little so we had to close it. There was a portable air con unit but it was much too noisy to allow sleep. The bed had a winter weight quilt on - tog 10 - so we removed that as it was far to hot for July. We thought that £90 a night was a bit steep considering the circumstances.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Newly refurbished well
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely and clean, bed was comfortable with nice crisp linen. Breakfast was buffet style but good quality foods and very enjoyable. All staff encountered were friendly, professional and helpful. Would definitely pay a return visit.

Pros: Location Staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food in their restaurant was excellent. We traveled by motorcycle so parking was important and they had a secure garage and a secure compound. The bedroom was large and airy.
Cons: We were on the top floor and the shower didn't work. There was no pressure. There was a "booster" button but that had no effect. There was a bath so no real problem really.
7.5 Good
Pros: friendly and helpful staff
Cons: basic rooms, not very comfy beds
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great staff
Cons: Car park is too small
6.7 Good
Pros: good drinks in the restaurant, good breakfast
Cons: better warning that drinkers outside would keep us up all night!

Pros: It’s quaint charm, comfort, elegance and rural solitude. It is a window into rural bygone days.
Cons: Nil.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent. The staff really helpful. A home from home
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable beds and attractive rooms with traditional furnishing. Beautiful heavy curtains too. Pretty farmhouse plus ducks and chickens wandering about having a lovely time. We liked the Shetland pony too.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: For us, a farm BnB was a new experience and made a great refreshing change. George is a 'chilled' host and was happy to let us roam the miles of his farm tracks, he even provided a map. Breakfast was an interesting slight variant of Full English and lovely too. Luckily for us, all the guests turned up for it within minutes of each other - the large round table made for great conversation. A great idea.
Cons: One of us missed not having a TV in the room (the other wasn't bothered at all).
8.8 Excellent
Cons: The 2 single doonas on the double bed were unsatisfactory, especially on one side. Also our breakfast order was taken 3 times and it still wasn’t correct.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Was welcomed with tea in the garden and entertained by two lively little dogs. Great bedroom and outstanding bathroom. Very quiet location. Caroline was very helpful with things and places to go to.
Cons: Nothing
5.0 Okay
Cons: No room for us at the breakfast table - very awkward as if we had walked in someones home kitchen- left without having any. Socks lay on landing floor - bedroom doors open - no locks on rooms.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly hosts, who were excellent and all the pets/animals were brilliant with our daughter who is only 19months. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, nice bathrooms (including a bath)and had lovely views. There was tea and coffee making facilities. The location was perfect for us and the hosts were very helpful when planning our days out.
Cons: The breakfast was lovely but I wouldn’t describe it as a full English. If staying with young children, it may be worth asking the hosts to remove some of the ornaments in the room as they are well decorated however we had to move them all or our little girl would have got her hands in them!

Pros: Pleasant staff
Cons: Has a run-down feel, lacks something difficult to define.
7.1 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good but hot water was slow in arriving for tea.
Cons: We had booked for eight of us to eat at 7.00pm and arrived promptly. We finally received our main course at 9.50pm - we had two children with us so the delay was not helpful. The food, when it arrived, was very good but the kitchen did not seem to be able to cope. Finally, we brought a cake for our 18 year old granddaughter (because Cedars was unable to provide one) but we had to remind them to bring it to the table and it took over twenty minutes to arrive.

Cons: Coffee serving at breakfast was slow
6.7 Good
Pros: Great location for discovering all of N Devon.
Cons: Restaurant menu boring. Long kitchen delays from eventually order to delivery of food - over an hour on the two evenings we ate at the restaurant. Plates uncollected and failure to produce the desert menu - we gave up.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very easy to find, comfortable accomodation, good facilities and customer service
Cons: Nothing!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Reception staff very helpful. Bed extremely comfortable. Breakfast very good and nice to see good quality products being supplied. Evening meal, which was charged separately, was really good value for money. Tea and coffee supplies in the room were generous and biscuits delicious, and again good quality. Yes I will be going back again.
Cons: We were given a downstairs room initially, but after a couple of hours listening to the people above walking about in what sounded like hob nailed boots on a wooden floor, we asked to be moved. We were given another room, upstairs this time, which was far nicer, fresher and lighter. The first room was incredibly gloomy and even with all the lights on, it had a very depressing feel to it, plus it smelt peculiar. The whole place needs a coat of paint, a stiff broom outside and a tidying up of the gardens. It could look really nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Modern decor well thought out nice staff nice gardens very pleased over all
Cons: The food was not great the koftos were soggy under cooked steak pie pastry like cardboard chefs could do a lot better
