Malhadinha Nova Country House & Spa - Beja - Building

9.2 Excellent (248 reviews)
C$ 445+
9.2 Excellent
Pros: friendly quiet atmosphere
Cons: nothing to complain
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The dinner in the restaurant was excellent. Staff were very friendly.
Cons: Not much to dislike - a light was broken in our room. That’s about it.
7.0 Good
Pros: Position and views. Good food in restaurant but lacking staff. Swimming pool and terrace.
Cons: Lack of coordination between staff resulting in slow poor service. Bedrooms not very clean and lack of wardrobe space.
6.3 Good
Pros: Breakfast was very nice with quality products (it would be good to have coffee on the table instead of having to get up to serve ourselves to the buffet as the cups were not very big). The rooms were nice, clean and well equiped.
Cons: The journey to the hotel was difficult there is no indication how to reach the hotel and we approached it from Albernoa and had quite a treck in the dust and extremely difficult road. The person which welcomed us was not very welcoming... Upon booking, I had asked if we could have two rooms not too far from each other, never got an answer and the two rooms were at the exact opposite ailes of the hotel . I had not appreciated that the hotel was so isolated and therefore there is no other alternative than to dine in the restaurant of the hotel which is nice but with some elaborated cooking which you may not enjoy several nights in a row and it is quite far from the hotel (at least too far to walk at night) which requires the hotel to bring you by Jeep to the restaurant and back to the hotel and the Jeeps used are quite dusty and the road bumpy. You have to pay for all type of activities which price seem quite extravagant and there is nothing else to do if you do not pay for these activities. The exception was the "tour of the property and wine degustation" which was free but the woman was speaking one hundred miles per hour, the degustation was a bit of a joke and expedited as fast as she could and we were left in the shop some time to decide if we wanted to buy their products (excellent olive oïl by the way, not convinced by the wine at least the one we were given to taste..). The swimming pool size is ok but the water is freezing. On the sunday evening the restaurant is closed. We were explained that normally the food is served at the hotel but were indicated we had to attend a barbecue (50 euros each without drinks) in their new hotel because they were sort of inaugurating their new hotel with investors and had organised a barbecue with music for them. We asked if there were an alternative and the answer was basically no. To conclude I did not enjoyed this hotel, the atmosphere is snobish and cold and clearly I did not feel I had value for money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is outstanding. Food and wine is excellent. Staff are friendly and obliging
Cons: No complaints

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent place to bring your kids and have some rest in the countryside.
Cons: Hard to say, since all the family really enjoyed it.
7.1 Good
Pros: This was my second or third stay. This is a amazing place, the pool, the staff. Very good place to enjoy the real “Alentejo” life stile like the hot summer nights.
Cons: I didn’t enjoy the price of the dinner, 25 Euros for each adult, for a no flavor food, no salt at all. On top, the cost of the beverages. On my last stay, the food was amazing, real food from Alentejo, but this year the quality was totally the opposite. I think the rooms needs modernization, painting and new bathtubs. I would like to invite the management team of the property, to have dinner there and visit the room 143 and use the bathtub, and take a look about the mask on the walls (death mosquitos?) in a way to understand my point of view.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Really peaceful environment. Tasteful decoration. Excellent food and wine. Friendly staff. Nice outdoors.
Cons: Mattress on the bed was not so good.

Both gVe good tips for local activities and even for thin to do in Lisbon. The breakfast was delicious and included fried eggs, and lots of home-baked goodies, even home made pumpkin jam.
