Magnificient "architecturally interesting and uniq
The inn/building is fantastic. A converted 1890's lawyer's residence, the owners have done a truly excellent job of maintaining the Victorian ambience, and the furnishing, amenities, food, and grounds are first rate. A truly unique place - we took lots of photos. The rooms are tasteful, quiet, and the common areas are comfortable. There are no TVs in the rooms, but frankly you don't miss them. Very restful place. The town of Belfast is typical of the smaller Maine coastal villages. There is enough to do there for a short one or two day stay, but no longer. Basically a single Main street, curio shops, and a few restaurants - some very good ones. We made a one night stay on our way from Booth Bay to Bar Harbor.
I understand that Inns, particularly B&Bs run by a husband/wife team, need some down time for both room cleaning and some respite from attending to guest needs, but they are extremely hard line on the check in time of 3 PM, so be forewarned. We arrived at 2 PM and were told in clear terms they had no flexibility on the 3 PM check-in time. So we had to drive into town and kill and hour. Several other families were there at 3 PM with the same complaint. Again, we understand, but this is more for information than a complaint. Otherwise the rooms, service, food, and ambience was fantastic. We would stay there again.
A stay at The Jeweled Turret Inn places you in the heart of Belfast, within a 5-minute drive of Belfast City Park and Belfast Historical Society and Museum. Free self parking is available onsite.
