Pros: Wish we could give the Guesthouse even more stars. We are totally amazed by the incredibly lovely Elisabeth, absolute sweetheart. We were lucky enough to be the only guests, so we had a lot of privacy and space for us. The rooms and bathrooms are tidy and clean with a beautiful sea view. The kitchen provides everything you could ask for, giving you absolute independence. We were floored by the spa, an indoor hot tub with an incredible sea view as well as a sauna with enough room for two, which provide excellent photo opportunities. We stayed for a night in February (middle of winter), so you could just step outdoors into the snow after sweating in the sauna instead of building up the courage to stand underneath the cold shower. Free WIFI with good reception all throughout the guesthouse. The Guesthouse is right by a petrol station and just across a small supermarket, but be careful, the supermarket only opens up three days a week.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is great, comfortable and really clean. Super friendly and a lovely spa.
Cons: It was all good!
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Apparently there was a heavy storm in december 2019 that wrecked the outside spa, so that part will probably be closed down for a while. Which is no problem considering the inside sauna and hot tub which are lovely.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: There is an access to the kitchen which is well furnished, the room is simple but nice and clean with a very nice view on the sea! We liked the common space and location of the guesthouse. A nice breakfast is served downstairs and the restaurant is also available for dinner. Just check well the roads before coming as they may be closed sometimes!
Cons: We were sorry that the exterior spa did not work anymore because of the storm of end 2019!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was perfect and the cherry on top are the hot tubs outside!
Cons: It was perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The people were very welcoming and friendly. Evening meal and breakfast were delicious. Perfect location next to the sea. The drive here was stunningly beautiful in the snow.
Cons: Nothing, everything was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place the staff were really helpful, good hot tub with a veiw of the water and mountains, we really loved it.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice place in a very remote and beautiful part of Iceland. The place has a nice bar area with some cards game to play and relax, perfect for an intense day of driving. The room is comfortable and you shouldn’t miss the rich breakfast. The owner is very welcoming and nice!
Cons: Make sure to check road conditions beforehand. To get to the beautiful village where the hotel is located you will need to drive through a spectacular mountain where there is often fog on a road that is not completely paved. not an easy drive.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice village. Great menu for the dinner. Friendly staff offering all help especially regarding trails around and opportunnities to watch puffins.
Cons: Bulding was very simply, not cosy. Views from the room were unpleasant (another bulding). The common area was available only in the another building. Price was not adequate to quality. Hovewer, it was probably the best option in the village.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is unbeatable. The rooms were lovely. I had a window view of the northern lights so I could watch them while I went to sleep. Unforgettable evening. The food and staff were also exceptional. Overall, great stat. Wish I had stopped in longer then one night!
Cons: Nothing! Except that I didn’t stay an extra night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice room, nice people. Good breakfast and dinner.
Cons: No good light or lamp for reading in the room.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: If you’re willing to travel off the beaten path an hour and a half for 40 miles each way over often unpaved roads it’s the journey of a lifetime over the mountains with astounding views of the mountains the valley and fiords and ocean below at each hairpin turn. The room is very basic but clean and comfortable. There are several cafes in the area. We’re told it’s the best place to view puffins o the island but they left in mid August. Back over the mountains for another look on the way back. Great breakfast. Less than half the price of other places we’ve stayed
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great. Staff were very friendly. Included breakfast was good. We also had dinner in the restaurant, which was excellent.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: On the beach, quiet, clean and super friendly staff.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here for one night around midsummer 2019. It is a short distance away from Borgarfjördur. We arrived quite late, but when we called the owner by phone, they said it was no problem. The house itself seems under construction, at least the outside. WiFi was also under construction. Inside, it had not the newest furniture but everything was clean and functional. We had the apartment (actually, a flat) downstairs all to ourselves, including bathroom and kitchen. The best thing about Borgarfjördur though is Borgarfjarðarhöfn with its Puffins. During our three weeks in Iceland we never saw more of them, or got closer, including at Vik and Latrabjarg.
Cons: Improvements might be ... * WiFi * Furniture update
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Solitary location, quite large, private and quiet rooms with a beautiful view (we had an apartment with 2 bedrooms), very friendly hosts and also very friendly dog to take for a walk.
Cons: If you have not informed the hosts about your exact arrival time, there may be no-one at the reception and there are no mobile signal to call either. Better signs and instructions around the guesthouse would be helpful.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location.right near the beach after one of the finest drives in Iceland. Supper you either need to bring or a 5 minute drive to the town Collect keys from the farm- follow sign No phone signal but Wi-Fi available
7.5 Good
Pros: Very big and comfortable house. There's a small dishwasher inside which is very useful.
Cons: Too many flies inside the apartment
8.3 Excellent
Pros: good place, excellent host
Cons: more toilett paper is needed :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was superb. We stayed 7 days and our hostess changed it every day to give us a new treat. The location is well-placed for exquisite hiking in the greenest, most mountainous fjord in Iceland. It is exquisite country with trolls, elves, sheep, and a wondrous, private beach on the sea, close to puffins and other marvels. The hostess is wonderful. The building is a 1970s Icelandic family farm house. It is spacious, with a full kitchen, dining room, living room, kitchen nook, spacious bathroom (with a tub) and more. This is the best of Iceland. There are sheep. Mobile phones did not work here. The house gives quick access to all the trails of East Iceland, including the trails to the lost inlets and the stunning Stapavik trail. The area is a geologist's and hiker's delight. This is Kjarval country. Every step is an entrance into his paintings.
Cons: The public utilities company was modernizing the Internet, and it was out during our stay. They have promised it for next week. The road was rough, but it is in the process of being widened and paved. Such a great improvement over six years ago, but not quite finished yet. Still, a few hundred vehicles of ALL kinds have done it all week, during construction, with no troubles. We did it five times and got really good at it. Final paving is expected this month.
