Very nice food, lovely staff.
We stayed one night, breaking our journey back from Italy to UK. As a result of a major traffic problem in Switzerland, we arrived way later than expected. In fact, it was after 10pm when we arrived - four hours late - and to their credit, the hotel staff were still waiting for us (I had phoned in advance to explain we would be late), and although the restaurant was closed, they made us some Abendbrot (basically some cold meat and bread) for which we were very grateful after our nightmare journey. We had a large bright and clean room. Shower was excellent. Breakfast was good as well. We would not hesitate to use the hotel again. The restaurant did look a good place for dinner.
Note, and this is not any criticism of the hotel, not much English is spoken; and whilst I can communicate in German with them, this may be a problem for non-German speakers.
Situated in a satellite village just outside Breisach am Rhein the Landgasthof retains a rural charm with clean, comfortable rooms. The surprise for us was the Michelin recommended restaurant which served a really excellent evening dinner at a very reasonable price. Definitely a repeat future stopover on our way back from Switzerland (where the food was far more expensive and generally disappointing).
Pleasant location and room. Excellent bathroom and good breakfast
A little hard to find but easy parking when we arrived, and check-in was smooth and the room clean. The meal was fine and the menu in German had a translation.... into French! BUT this is a German Hotel in Germany, near the French border so my lack of language ability is NOT the fault of the hotel. The waiter who did speak excellent English would be an asset to any hotel. He explained the menu and was generally very friendly and helpful. The meal was more expensive than similar meals we had at other hotels..
The bed was under a low sloping ceiling and sitting up suddenly needed care not to bump your head. The bathroom was very small and the two doors on the shower were not easy to navigate and did not meet. Consequently we had a wet slippery floor. The stairs were quite steep and I slipped coming down them with a suitcase.
This charming hotel and guest house lies in quiet Hochstetten, just outside the town of Breisach am Rhein, 2 km from the River Rhine and the French border. Look forward to comfortable, peaceful rooms, furnished in a classic, traditional style at the Landgasthof Adler. Some rooms are located across the road in the guest house. Guests enjoy a varied breakfast buffet before setting out to explore the historic town, the River Rhine, or nearby Alsace. All guests enjoy free use of local buses and trains with the Black Forest Guest Card. You can even hire a bike directly from the Adler for a reasonable fee. Guests are welcome to take a dip in the hotel's outdoor pool or relax with refreshments on the terrace on sunny days. The cosy restaurant offers excellent regional, seasonal cuisine, which you can accompany with a fine wine from the extensive wine list.
