Pros: Evergreen is an awesome place. There are daybeds everywhere, there are hammocks everywhere... It‘s hard to decide where to relax first. It‘s so nicely done, decorated with so much love. Try the turkish menemen for breakfast! Claudia and Mustafa, the owners, are super nice and helpful. Then the staff is so nice, too. They also make great cocktails. You stay in lovely bungalows and wake up to the sound of the waves. Can‘t get any better. We wanted to travel the island and ended up staying just there. It‘s hard to leave, that‘s the only sad feeling I felt when staying there. HUGE recommendation

Pros: Great location.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location and amazing landscape. The bungalows fit very well with the location and everything looks like a postcard. There is few people around. The location is paradise.
Cons: It could be more clean and more attention to details around the room and the bathroom. Although I really appreciate that they take care of dogs and cats which were absolutely harmless, I don’t think they should be allowed around people when eating.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The bungalows are beautiful with an extremely rustic feeling to them! The beach area is perfect and cleaned every morning. The water is amazing! The staff at Evergreen are fantastic also. Claudia the owner helped us out when we arrived a day early by mistake and when she noticed we were burned from the sun brought us some fresh aloe vera!! And Paul's cocktails!! <3 There is not loads to do around, the guys can help you find bars and parties but the place is perfect to just relax and enjoy thinking about nothing! Thanks guys!
Cons: You can't not like anything about this place! It's paradise!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: + Quiet place without any beach boys + Bungalows with an ocean view (amazing) + Big rooms + Great breakfast + Really nice and helpful staff + Swahili BBQ was great + Very good restaurant (e.g. for snacks)
Cons: - Water pressure was comparatively much worse - Next (local) market (e.g. for buying water) is far away - so bring it in advance!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location for some peace and quiet. And the place is so cozy and charming. Great owners but special mention to Paul the guy was outstanding throughout my stay!
Cons: Nothing major

Pros: the beach is fantastic. We had a great time swimming and scuba diving in the sea. The place is quite and could enjoy the private beach with only one or two other people or only yourself!! the place is very cute and well designed. If you look around you could find hand made art and crafts in every corner. If you drive, you could get access anywhere close by in 10 mins with lots of restaurants to explore. Don't miss the Rock Restaurant!!
Cons: the breakfast is a bit simple but you could order extra if you want
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Awesome place! The Garden is just beautiful, monkeys in the trees, 3 lovely dogs an really friendly and lovely stuff! I can highly recommend this place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very warm and welcoming place. Charming rustic setting and very clean, with many attractive and personal touches. The food was beautifully presented, using fresh and local produce. Tours and driver were easily organised.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Bellevue is decorated with thoughtful touches for a nature loving and eco-conscious traveler. Hosts and staff are amazing and make terrific recommendations for activities. Rooms are comfortable, with a lot of privacy. Property is beautiful and lush with many places to hang out. As a solo traveler I appreciated that immensely as I met interesting people during my stay. Food was delicious! Beach is lovely and not crowded. Also property is one hour from the airport and close to great snorkeling, the forest and other activities.
Cons: As noted in reviews the location of the property means the beach has a very low tide-so you will see a lot of seaweed, but it was interesting as local farmers and fishermen are harvesting seaweed and fish at this time. I enjoyed it but if you want to do nothing but sit on the beach all day-you May prefer elsewhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Book the villa! It has amazing views and you will never feel like leaving. Full of character, is busted by friendly monkeys sometimes. The bed is super comfy and the food is super tasty. If you like good music Paul will surprise you, he is also full of stories. Thank you
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This property blends the experience of staying in a natural environment with easy access to the beach. The experience is more environmentally friendly than the large resorts and has a lot of local charm. The staff were both efficient and friendly and we were well looked after. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to spend time on the east coast of the island.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everyone here is so kind! Perfect peaceful stay. We hope to return to Bellevue someday soon! For those who are sure-footed and adventurous, try the “Sea Safari” with Moussa. You’ll have to dodge sea urchins but you’ll learn about seaweed harvesting, coconut rope making, and fishing. We’d highly recommend Bellevue to anyone- keep your eye out for monkeys!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. We wanted to stay for one night and made it three (would have stayed longer if there weren't a flight home calling). We don't know how to say anything bad about our stay here - Paul is an amazing host taking care of everyone and you can have a great chat with him. The food is exceptional and worth every penny you pay. Rooms are clean, bed is comfy and every night they get rid of the mosquitoes before you go to bed. Eventhough you're dependent on the tides for swimming in the ocean you can switch to the pool at low tide and have an amazing view from there to the ocean. We could continue writing but if you have the chance try it for yourself!
Anna of Zanzibar - Bwejuu - Pool

Overview Reviews
This Dongwe property is on the beach, 2.9 mi (4.6 km) from Pingwe Beach, and within 9 mi (15 km) of Jambiani Beach and Paje Beach. Kuza Cave is 8.7 mi (14.1 km) away.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff. Good food. Nice rooms.
Cons: They could use a few more processes to make things flow smoother, but it was not terrible.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unprecedented service, great location, beautiful beach, quality food and superb hospitality. The hotel arranged our visit to Stone Town and they have provided us with snacks, umbrellas, ice box full of drinks and water which shows their extraordinary hospitality Literally the staff strive to make all dreams come true
Cons: Nothing really, would only recommend putting window nets or some other solutions to prevent geckos from going into the room, geckos are very common on the island so not an issue with the hotel and they rarely go inside the rooms. However that is only a recommendation as we had encountered only 1 instance during our stay and the staff sorted it out swiftly and fast but we had to keep doors and windows locked all the time
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Anna of Zanzibar is a quality accommodation; the villa's are very roomy and spacious. The staff cannot do enough for you and are very friendly and helpful. On an 'all inclusive' there is an abundance of exceptionally tasty food that can be taken when and where you like on the property - great breakfast on the villa deck, lunch served by the beach or the pool, dinner in the main house. An absolute treat and great way to get a few days relaxation
Cons: The Aircon was great in the bedroom; but less so in the Lounge and another couple said the same of their villa lounge. There is wifi throughout the property but the actual link to the internet was patchy and slow. We stayed at another property not far up the same road and the wifi there was 5 x better
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Owner and staff are amazing, the location- amazing! Everything is amazing- more than you can ask for on a tiny, beautiful island. The small details tell a tale all of their own... enjoy. The food- omg- amazing!!! Honestly, as a family of five we can not rate this stay enough!!! We felt like were, and were treated like kings and queens. All the staff go above and beyond. In fact there’s more staff than there are guests- that’s the attention to detail this place has got!
Cons: It’s not even a compliant- soo much good food... all bloody day..... every day.... And so often!! My son asked for some crisps.. “Potato chips” they replied... He waited for 15 minutes and had home made crisps- delivered to him by the pool!! !! This place is bloody awesome!!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We spent a magical three days at Anna of Zanzibar. The location is beautiful, the staff very attentive and friendly and the food was delicious and plentiful. It was perfect!
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything about the hotel! It was peaceful, relaxing, mind clearing stay! Definitely recommend this hotel for couples. For escaping from reality!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious Bungalows located in a lavish garden. Super nice staff, delicious food, very calm. Lovingly decorated. Overall a fantastic place to stay and relax
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff were excellent. Hotel only has 5 rooms, all were full when we were there. Pool beds and towels were a little dated.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The service is great! Friendly, personal, yet not overly eager. Laid-back. The garden, pool and beach are lovely. Rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean. Very relaxing!
Cons: Perhaps the food was a little inconsistent at times but overall it didn't really matter much.

9.6 Excellent
Cons: Ur Bungalow was very small and dark inside, but inside was clean. Staff is very friend and breakfast delicious. I have a good Time there
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our time at this lovely african style bungalow parc. The staff was the kindest. The garden has all different types of trees, which create the perfect atmosphere to relax in the much needed shade. If like to stay outside of the big resorts, this place is the best.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing garden with daybeds and a lot of green. This was the most comfortable hotel i stayed at during my trip. The restaurant is nicely decorated. The food is ok.
Cons: Everything was ok. The food is slightly more expensive than in other paces.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Had a good stay at FGV. Good service and courteous staff. Tropical grounds and plants make it a relaxing atmosphere from the onset. Loved my breakfast (maybe because had no access to food to eat outside of FGV breakfast until end of ramadan fast at 6:30pm! everyday) I was only one staying there the entire time (low season), but did not mind. *) The mosquito's were a real problem (because of the "makuti", the woven palm trees used to clad bungalows), this is a problem throughout Zanzibar, not just at FGV. They are agressive and HUNGRY both evening and morning!. I was fully prepared with mosquito coil, tablets etc but had to get Doom and even with blasts of Doom, they don't die straight away. The hotel were also very helpful with this, but there is not much they can do, as mosquito's just return via the gaps in makuti. *) Greeted with a lovely green coconut drink, straight from the tree! when I arrived which was really special. *) Distance of FGV is a big problem if single / travelling alone, especially at night and have to rely on taxi's at extra high costs. The main road is far and not well served, then there are scary bushes and NO LIGHTS at all. It gets dark at 6:30pm so you need to be indoors at this time. The lady at reception was kind enough to show me the road to use the first time I arrived which was helpful. It's a great place to chill though if you can get around the travel by using private transport or are in a group. *) Lady serving breakfast went out of her way to get me advocado which was nice although not necessary for breakfast. *No hot water and WiFi was a problem so used my own hotspot. Same problem in many places, not just here! *) Room was serviced and linen changed daily by hardworking lady with a big smile :) New management and the lovely yellow paint has been replaced by blue
Cons: Extra tips - : *) Do not go to Zanzibar during Ramadan!...cannot eat anywhere and it's not polite to do so anyway as everyone is fasting, some people say they can take you in jail. You can buy and make your food at home, not an option if a tourist. *) Masai men will always try to ? with you and ask for money! - be warned if single women & there's lots more where that came from - NOT RELATED THE RESORT :) *) Have stayed in several places in Zanzibar before and have not given them a rating, so this is the first place I will rate as had a good experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spotlessly clean with lovely staff. Quiet and chilled out location, cute room, great value for money.
Cons: Could improve on the breakfast, the coffee, and the pillows. But really it’s still a great choice at this price point!!!! Couldn’t fault the cleanliness and the loveliness of everyone there.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: You should be ready that it is a bit far from everything - the village Paje where you can buy nice fruits and chip food is in 3 km - one hour walking by the beach. But it’s quite and there is nobody on the beach, it’s beautiful. I loved small houses - it’s clean, very simple but you have nice clean bed and electricity, wi fi is working in the lobby. It was not a problem for me to have WC and shower outside and finally I was upgraded to a big house that included everything. It’s a bit dark in rooms, but there was no problems with Moskitos and I was fine with having only fan, it was not very hot. You can get to any part of the island from there - by dala dala or rent a car. Dala dala to the village cost 200-300 shillings, a motorbike trip - 3000 shillings. In case if you get bored:) Nice breakfasts (not every day and coffee is only instant that is horrible, but it’s everywhere here like this in Zanzibar).
Cons: It’s a bit far from tourist places but for me it was an advantage:) But you have to be ready to pay 10000-20000 shillings for taxi to get there if you decided to go to a party - to Red Monkey for example. It’s better to buy your own jam because you can’t get it to your breakfast. For transfer to and from airport here asking for 40 dollars, it’s possible to find for 20-25. There could be some problems with wi fi
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owners and personnel were very very hospitable and warm. We got an upgrade in our room. The garden is like the garden of eden, there are two playing kittens, two cahouns walking around. And the place looks beautiful.
Cons: There were mosquitos since the place is not windy like the places at the beach side. Eventually, they found a way to get rid of them, so this was in the end not a big problem.
7.1 Good
Pros: -Very pleasant, friendly staff -Chilled, relaxed atmosphere in the lounge/garden with an amazing hammock -Close to the beach
Cons: -Basic rooms and bathrooms, no windows so some noise from outside at night -Repetitive breakfast, no creativity -Slow cooking (waiting time of one hour for lunch or dinner) -Tours offered by the property are more expensive than what we could find elsewhere
7.5 Good
Pros: Silence in the camp.
Cons: Room nice but too dark inside.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The staff was incredibly nice and very helpful. We appreciated alot all their help & hospitality. The location was good and they were happy to accomodate our request to refund us our money for one night as we had to leave earlier. The beach was beautiful and had way less beach boys compared to other areas of the island.
Cons: - Only cold water was available for showers - They had left flowers in the room for decorations, we ended up having ants everywhere( including bed and bathroom) - There is no shade on the beach due to the lak umbrellas. The sunbeds had no mattresses only a thin sports/Yoga mat. - On arrival we were the only guests and were sent to a hostel for dinner. Hostel food turned out really nice though. - WIFI did exist but i could never pick it up apart from the reception where it was abnormaly slow (In comparison to other hotels on the Island). All in all, the rate we paid per night for rooms was way overpriced ($72/night) and the hotel requires urgent renovations. Considering it was our honeymoon, we were disappointed with the standards offered.
4.2 Okay
Pros: The location was good and quieted. The unit we booked was in front of the Ocean, offers good view and breeze, however the breeze didn't go through the bungalow due to think screen window and mosquitoes's net.
Cons: Upepo Boutique Beach Bungalows 8 nights in Bwejuu 7 Feb - 15 Feb Lack of services: food and drink need to order in advance. second accommodate is much smaller than it appears on the booking. third, lack of hot water, cleaning need to order, lack of soap and shampoo. fourth, Internet is very bad, unable to do anything, the property uses a system pay as you go, which mean a service can be cut at anytime. fifth, property doesn't care or heard about any complaint from customer, it kept talking about an agreement with booking as when one book the place there isn't anything it could do....... all fault as the property doesn't deliver its services. sixth, when complaint with the workers, confront with laughter and nothing happened. Workers all seem nice and willing to help but they couldn't do anything to facilitate our need. The mean of communicate were not exist. Issue on security, no secured. The door was broken, it was so poor such anyone could just walk into the place.........seller or massage providers sometime walk up to the front door offering their services. Overall, $80 per night was way way over value, it should be $25 or less. Compare to places nearby, we had checked at $30 with great internet, restaurant, quality of room, and services. We had been robbed.... Thanks
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: Bungalows are NOT clean at all, especially the bathroom which was just unusable. Everything is old and poorly maintained, there isn't any furniture you can use, no hot water, the wifi wasn’t working (which was not very important for us but this should be mentioned), staff wasn’t helpful at all, breakfast isn’t good etc. We went to 4 other hotels in Zanzibar (and some of them was way more cheaper) on very good locations, and there was all 10 times better than Upepo Boutique... Once we discovered the bungalows, we understand why this was the only hotel we saw in Zanzibar that forced us to pay the whole amount at your arrival… Considering this, we advise the owners to change their prices to $20/$30 per night maximum (and clean the rooms), or they should renovate everything and upgrade their service to be competitive with the other hotels in the island.
