Pros: Spectacular views and comfortable rooms
Cons: The ability to get your suitcases up to the castle without hiking up a 350 m climb over cobbled stones, no cart , no wheelbarrow or person to help
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is actually in an ancient castle but now very modern hotel. Your room will look out at the countryside below. The small surrounding town is spotlessly clean with narrow alleys and a few local shops. There are two choices in the village for dinner. Breakfast was excellent at the hotel.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in an old castle - it’s amazing. The hotel is up on a mountain and the views are spectacular - very remote and stunning
Cons: The breakfast is very Spanish - not worth bothering with. The decor is not perfect and we did not have warm water at night for a shower. In the morning the water was nice and hot though

Pros: The views from the castle are amazing and the castle itself is beautiful
Cons: The double bed was horrible. It was to firm for our liking and the ventilation of the bed was terrible. Because of this the bed would get really hot. Also there was only 1 long pillow instead of 2 single pillows.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were excellent at all time. The "convento" itself was great and in a good state of repair. Dont let it slide though some places already need some paint and minor works. And the area. The woods, the wild life: we were greeted by no less than 4 "gamos" when we arrised. That was at approx 3pm on a Friday! The food was good and the wine. The service was excellent; information provided by members of staff too. The proximity to Gibraltar. Literally 23 minutes from the frontier and 28k away and a totally different and affordable world.
Cons: The menu choice was limited and we did get the same veg and potatoes 3 evenings on the go. Also the smell of drains coming out the loo/bathroom. Would be good to fix that. And have the "log-fire" lit on a daily basis. The building lends itself to that but it was cold in that room without the fire.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beatiful place and amazing price-quality.
Cons: Nothing wrong about this property
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We arrived on our bikes for the last night of our cycle from Nordkapp in Norway to Africa. The reception and treatment we got from the staff at the hotel was fantastic and could do no more! We will definitely be returning for a more relaxed stay.
5.0 Okay
Pros: History and surrounding scenery
Cons: No chair in bedroom. Poor breakfast -had to ask for milk to put on cereal. Had to ask for honey as not put out on 2nd day. No shower gel or hand towels provided on first night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Exceptional service. Spotless clean and amazing location.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely comfortable room. Very clean with plentiful toiletries. No kettle provided and we were not able to borrow one so had to buy coffee. Breakfast OK with reasonable choice but very poor quality orange juice and yoghurts which was a shame. Very helpful and professional staff.
Cons: Quality of some breakfast items. No tea/coffee in the room.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel, restaurant very good. Great for z couple of nights stay. Some lovely walks from hotel and surrounding areas to
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel and the room were absolutely beautiful, and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast was very good -- a spread of jamon and cheese, jams, breads, muffins, etc.
Cons: The hotel was quite difficult to find, and contrary to our expectations, it was not up the mountain and within the walls of the old castle. It was at the bottom of the mountain just off of a roundabout. We drove all the way up the mountain (about 15 minutes of switchbacks) before finding this out. If you are staying here to explore the tiny village of Castellar within the castle walls, just be aware that this hotel is about a 15 minute drive away.
