La Gentilhommière - Chantepie - Building

9.6 Excellent
Pros: House renovation was excellent with lots of original features sympathetically married to the new. All soft furnishings, linens beds etc were superb quality. Hosts were very attentive and aimed to please
Cons: Noise from early risers. Old buildings wooden floors creak. When owners asked about sleeping well and came to know about problem they avoided this where possible by locating the guests in other floors.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful old building, lovingly restored by the owners in a quiet spot close to fields but very convenient for main routes to the city and airport. The rooms were gorgeous and the breakfast excellent.
Cons: Quite a long walk to local shops and cafes.

Pros: Fancy, good design, nice place close to the center of the city and the railway station.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Classy and practical design to reception spaces and bedrooms, friendly staff and excellent breakfast
Cons: Parking is complicated
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent option for the city center of Rennes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, in the heart of the city, easy to access public transportation and commercial area.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The lobby area also serves as elegant hangout spot indoor and outdoor for smoking access. Room is decorated into perfection and considerably spacious, with access to open window.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: While the hotel has many of the Sofitel brand features the one thing that makes this hotel one of the best I've ever stayed in is the staff. To a person they are the most professional, courteous, helpful and genuinely happy to welcome you to their city group. No request however small was treated as trivial. Thibaud who welcomed us on the footpath to take our car was a harbinger of the complete welcome and care we received. Staying four nights with lots of luggage and a heavy e-bike on the back we required plenty of assistance and he gave it in abundance. They deserve awards for hospitality and professionalism. If we ever return to Rennes we will definitely stay here.....it was our pleasure.
Cons: Nothing!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff walked in my room when i was undressed. They made up for the mistake, it can happen but i like the professionalism they handled this and the hand written note i got. Liked the woman behind reception with the short hair. Really helpful and funny. Great personality. Massages were really good. Great hotel, hotel itself did not exceed my expectations, staff behind reception and Valet service did exceed my expectations.
Cons: Pool is in the sauna in the basement. Breakfast is 28 euro per person a night. Across the street you get a fresh croissant and coffee for less than 5 euro's. I like luxury but this is too much. I do feel for a 5 star hotel you can't limit people to the sauna. I understand it's a small space, but then arrange something else. E.g. expand. Laundry carts in hallway to sauna. Everyday, all the time. If you take a shower, water is everywhere else in the bathroom because of how it is build. (Room 112)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Practically everything ..
Cons: The room was a little dark
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!!!
Cons: Nothing

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed, quiet, dark, good bathroom/shower, hot water right away, etc.
Cons: Not much.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location was PERFECT for our three day stay in Rennes. Being located so close to the train station made it exceptionally easy to do day trips to Dinan and Saint-Malo without a car, and it was still possible to walk to the Cathedral, Park Thabor and old town. There were lots of reasonably priced restaurants and bars near by and the station area was not seedy like it can be in some places. The room we had was on the small side but pretty standard for Europe, and wasn't an issue for us. Probably the only downside for us was the tiny refrigerator was really only there to keep the minibar contents coolish. It didn't actually chill anything much, and was too small to be useful to put anything in (we had been gifted a bottle of sparkling cider and it wouldn't fit). Would happily stay here again.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good choice at buffet bar;/coffee machine produced fair coffee.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff had read my requests for a quiet room. They made the effort to get us the quietest room I think we've ever had. They were very helpful, worked with us and our poor French skills, and cheerful. I will definitely recommend this hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect. Easy access to station and rent a car. Stuff is friendly and after check out, They can keep luggage for me.

Cons: Nothing. I loved everything about the place.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The friendly welcome and amazing setting and gardens.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a high quality property in a beautiful semi-rural setting about 20 minutes outside of Rennes. The staff was extremely accommodating -- allowed us to check in a little early, called a nearby boulangerie to ask if they would make sandwiches for us outside of normal operating hours, and printed our airline boarding passes. There is a delightful walking trail nearby.
Cons: Nothing -- could not have been better.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and beautiful surroundings
Cons: We found it very hot a fan or A/C would be fantastic. Staff were wonderful and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Dogs made very welcome with no extra charge. Spacious apartment which allowed dogs to be in a separate room. Perfect for our overnight stop from Cherbourg to Charente.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were lovely and friendly. Apartments were nice.
Cons: Weak wifi. But that's common in the country side.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and In a wonderful quiet location in a old manor house. Loved the location. Beautiful grounds and easy accesss to good restaurants.

7.9 Good
Pros: It’s a residential hotel, very nice and picturesque. I loved the aspheric It’s quiet and peaceful. The garden is very pretty so is the backyard. The appartement in itself is very pretty, plenty of space. For the kitchen there were loads of cups, cutlery and plates for a family I liked that. Very comfy beds and the receptionist was very nice and friendly.
Cons: The location is major turn off!! Very far from everything (shops, town etc) you will have to do your shopping before getting there as it’s a 14min walk to the main road a long drive to shops. The rooms are very very very hot, no air conditioner in the apartment plus if windows left open insects come in due to the backyard. No receptionist after 7-8pm therefore no one to help in case of need.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: everything it was beautiful and very well kept. we had a long drive from the southern area of Spain and this was exactly what we needed space and lots of it. we have a 7 month old great dane who thoroughly enjoyed the space and a 5 year old who loved seeing the animals and having space to play with a football.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The grounds are beautiful and they even have a little animal enclosure which our 1 year old loved. Room was spacious and it was great to have kitchen facilities
Cons: Very minor detail, but the coffee cups were tiny (espresso sized) so we ended up using bowls. Full size coffee cups or mugs would be great.

Pros: Very clean
Cons: No parking in the hotel and have a fine for parking in front the hotel just for drop off suitcaises.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff and early check in
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Reasonably located between the older city and the railway station, this hotel is modern and nondescript, but fit for purpose. The room was clean, there was no noise, and breakfast was satisfactory.
Cons: The garage was designed for cars with a modicum of maneuverability and visibility. I would recommend against trying to squeeze in anything recent of 5 meters or more, unless you're very familiar with it and at ease with screaming proximity alarms. Also, as the WC door opens inwards and the cubicle is not large, it might be a tight fit for some...
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location for touring the old city. Room was very modern, Ikea-style.
Cons: Parking was very difficult in the hotel garage and we did not realize we were expected to make a reservation for parking.

7.5 Good
Pros: Modern design, bathroom, nespresso, bar in lobby
Cons: Wifi was very slow, firewall prevented email, many services including vpn
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We were pleased with our choice for our 3 night stay. Lots of positives. Our room on 5th floor was facing the road but quiet, with good air con. Clean, with great bed and reasonable space, safe and minibar (used for our milk). It is close to the main lively centre on the other side of the river, and the visitor attractions (more than we realised), but there are good restaurants and bars near (including on a small timber house street Rue Vasselot). It is near the train station. metro stops, and the long distance bus station, where we got the coach to Mont Saint Michel. But it doesn't have the grottiness you sometimes get near stations (indeed Rennes itself is pretty smart except in one or two spots). Staff were very friendly and helpful. We used the spa on the first (wet) day (Friday am and had it to ourselves, but on the Sunday when we wanted to book it was full (we left it a bit late to inquire).
Cons: Downsides were that the the bathroom is very badly designed ( shower door opening out and water needing to be soaked up by towels on the floor, basin a silly modern design that doesn't allow water to sit in it, and toilet in a separate room without basin). And bits were slightly broken in the shower, with a few lights not working. The Netspresso machine was good as a kettle substitute but we failed to get it to make coffee (we are not experts and there were no instructions - could well have been broken). Wifi worked OK but kept requiring logging in again so we gave up in the end.
7.9 Good
Cons: Mild odor in the bathroom and the hallways.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff very friendly and helpful. Well trained. Accommodation is great for adults and older children.
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Loved this little boutique hotel in Rennes. Very close to station. I hired a car and it was an easy trip to St.Malo and Mont St, Michel. The hotel is quiet, comfortable roomy and nice. Staff are very helpful and couldn’t do more to help you.
Cons: Breakfast room was very stuffy without an outlook - go out to a local cafe
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and professional, the bed was quite comfortable and everything looked que the new.
Cons: The neighborhood. I think there was a party around yesterday, so it was noisy and I couldn't sleep. But one noisy night out of three (2 were very quiet) is ok.

Pros: The Chateau is really well placed for sightseeing in the eastern part of Brittany with most key sights in a reasonable drive. The Chateau itself sits in very nice grounds so is very quiet. The room we had was large and comfortable. The restaurant is very good and was able to cater for our needs. There are alternative places to eat in easy distance. The staff were very attentive and worked really hard. Definitely we would stay here again.

10.0 Excellent
Cons: Would have liked English Breakfast Tea for breakfast
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room in the Chateau was amazing, loved the bathroom in the turret. Beautiful grounds.
Cons: We stayed for 2 nights. We had 1 night in the pavilion and 1 night in the Chateau. The Pavilion looks nice from outside but from inside is rather basic and has no character or soul. It's a world away from a room inside the Chateau.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This place really is a proper, stunning château. An true beauty with a nice small park included. If you're wondering where you should get married, go for d'Apigné Rennes. If you're married already or not planning to, just go and spend some time there.

Pros: Easy to find 2 mins off moterway. Local bar and restaurants at end of street staff very pleasant and helpful.
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: Drain from bathroom smells. Aircon didn't work, despite telling reception staff 3 times - their response was that we had to wait a few minutes, which turned out to be the entire night. They didn't seem to have any care factor. The kettle was filthy! Parking was another debacle.

Cons: no air in the room: need to open window in the middle of the night
7.9 Good
Pros: The location was good as we were able to eat at a local bar and restaurant that was excellent value
Cons: This seems to be a very busy B&B, having stayed at the B&B Yvetot we noticed that a hair dryer was not standard and the room was smaller and not really enough room for two people with luggage. However, the staff were excellent, very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Very basic but enough of a one night stay. Breakfast is okay and enough.
7.1 Good
Pros: It was very easy to access the hotel when we checked in late. We were also allowed to get the breakfast eventhough we had not booked it in advance. Very friendly staff. Perfect for one night and it's close to the highway so good stopover spot.
Cons: The breakfast was not amazing..
7.1 Good
Pros: Good value and a good stop-over for journeys to/from Cherbourg.
Cons: Car park gate was still open at 10pm when we arrived (not sure if it was closed later but there were no staff on site). Would prefer more security even if that meant you had to enter your code to gain access.

Pros: The hotel/rooms are renovated. Bathroom was great and clean. Location is great; walking distance to center city. Breakfast was very good with a nice selection.
Cons: The price was a bit stiff.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location is great, staff excellent and very friendly, room was large and comfortable. Room was also quiet.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, nice stuff, not very spacious room but clean and comfortable.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very central location. Easy to find. Friendly staff. Comfy bed. Clean bathroom with all that you need. A fresh bottle of water as a welcome addition.
Cons: View from bedroom was a wall- not very nicely painted- maybe could have had a flower box or something outside? It was fine but I was expecting a bit more luxury for the price. The food was all pre-prepared which was a bit off-putting. I could hear the man next door coughing and sneezing very loudly ( he couldn’t help having a cold but it felt like he was in the bed next to me!)so maybe the soundproofing could have been better.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nicely renovated, great location.
Cons: Our room was too small for 2 people.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Well located and very helpful, friendly staff
Cons: As the hotel was in the centre of town it got noisy at night with the window open
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location of the apartment was great, right in the center and quite close to the cathedral.
Cons: Access to the apartment wasn't easy... narrow stairs. Size was good but it smells a lot probably due to humidity...
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This was a very modern and efficient hotel in downtown Rennes - I thought the rooms were quite small and a little quirky with the furniture at odd angles. Bath was fine and the breakfast room was very nice. The staff was small but very helpful. We were able to walk to restaurants and the city sights.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: There’s enough space for three people and it’s very clean. It’s also very close to metro republique which made going to main train station for day trips easier. There’s good restaurants nearby and places to see are also walking distance.
Cons: We got the one bedroom apartment. It is separated from the main hotel so it means if u need something from the receptionist you have to walk outside and go to the other building. The stairs near the main entrace going up the apartment is very narrow. If you have big luggages this may be an issue coz u have to carry it all the way to your room while managing to climb up the stairs as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location

Pros: Great location and big comfortable room
Cons: Slightly pricey compared to what we got
7.1 Good
Pros: The location of the hotel is very good. The views from the hotel are wonderful. There is a good choice of restaurants near the hotel.
Cons: When we booked the hotel we were under the impression that the facilities included a bar and restaurant. When we arrived we were told that the restaurant was closed for the evening. We asked if we could have a drink on the terrace and we ordered two glasses of wine. Before we had finished the wine we were asked to vacate the terrace as doors to the hotel were about to be locked. We sat in the hotel lobby but were then asked to finish our drinks in our bedroom as that section of the hotel was also closing. This was at approximately 19:00 hrs. If we wanted to drink in our bedroom we would have opened our own wine which would have been far superior and better value to that provided. WiFi in our room was too slow to use for emails and normal browsing. We were not permitted to check in before 17:30 so in effect, the hotel went into lock down 90 minutes after opening.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Hotel in interestimg old building at the water's edge making an attractive setting. Room was comfortable, clean and quiet. We really enjoyed the restaurant on the terrace by the river.
Cons: Not the fault of the Hotel, but there were roadworks nearby which made it harder to get to the location.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The picturesque, peaceful area, comfort, cleanliness & helpful staff, particularly the head waiter.
Cons: Our room did not have a bath, although Booking.com stipulated that this was included. No coffee/tea making facilities in room.

5.4 Okay
Pros: Comfortable bed, free parking, kettle & fridge
Cons: The room wasn't in the main building and very hard to find. The TV was advertised to have British TV but upon asking was told it didn't work in any rooms. We were offered to move rooms but we were settled and asked if we could have a free breakfast instead, but we couldn't
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I like the overall experience!
Cons: My noisy neighbors
5.8 Okay
Pros: I really like the place and the view of the room.
Cons: I did not like the room because it was not clean (carpet and bed sheet). This is not acceptable for a place like this to have dirty bed sheets and dirty carpet. The breakfast was very small and very basic.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious and very clean appartment, comfortable and a great location. Big terrace with lake view, calm and relaxing environnement.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Had a good dinner but a bit pricey (Friday surprise night)! Pro in golf shop v. helpful with hire of clubs. Hotel and golf facilities v. close so convenient. The accomodation on stilts was unusual and gave interesting views over lakes.
Cons: Nothing. The reason I said I would not return is mainly because I don't expect to visit the Rennes area again and there are no specific attractions locally
5.0 Okay
Pros: Not a lot
Cons: That they are still holding the deposit on my credit card and won’t credit it back. The place is a scam . Beware
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Fab stay, very near to the centre of town, where there were many bars and restaurants to choose from, great nights sleep
7.5 Good
Pros: Great sound insulation of the rooms. Our room was on the road side but none of the noise made it to the room
Cons: Relatively dark room and far away from the city (but we knew that).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable room with air con and kettle to make tea or coffee. No milk however, but lady on reception was happy to provide us with a cup full of fresh milk. Good location for our onward journey to Saint-Malo Ferry next morning. Good buffet breakfast. For our evening meal we used the Buffalo Grill next door which was very good.
Cons: Not much except we could have done with a waste bin in the bedroom and some sliced bread at breakfast would have been nice. They provide a toaster but no bread to fit in it
7.9 Good
Pros: Good selection of continental breakfast
Cons: The location wasn't ideal being in a commercial area on a very busy road into the city however it was only a bus ride. There was a Bar and Grill and room service consisted of Domino's pizza. No tea or coffee facilities.

Pros: The hotel is very new and comfortable. Very clean and great value for money.

7.9 Good
Pros: Comfortable bed and a clean room not so far from the city. The staff in the restaurant were fantastic. And the food was very good.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It was very quiet
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Exceptional! This is a fairly new hotel not far from the airport. Beautifully designed with a very roomy Atrium. This flowed on to the rooms which are bigger than usual with high quality fittings. We had booked the wrong day however the staff brushed this off as a minor issue and rebooked us. Breakfast was excellent in the roomy breakfast area and again everything was quality right down to the table napkins There are several restaurants handy and a couple due to open in the coming months. We really didn’t want to leave this place.....It scores close to 5 star with us. Well done, Best Western
4.2 Okay
Pros: The lounge area was comfortable.
Cons: Lighting in the room was really inadequate, and one of the lamps had a badly frayed cord. The kettle was rusted inside. Carpeting smelled. Their associated restaurant wasn't good.

Pros: Its style. The owners are renovating this hotel to a standard that is outstanding. Their styling is elegance and modern retro and you feel the spaces they have created. The service is to an equal standard.

Pros: Great location, safe secure and easy to park. Friendly staff and a nice spacious room.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Calm.
Cons: Breakfast
7.5 Good
Pros: The room was newly decorated so very nice and adequate for our needs, the bathroom quite large with a great shower. All seemed to be clean enough. The staff were friendly & helpful despite language barrier.
Cons: We felt the breakfast was very poor value for what was on offer - the restaurant/breakfast room had a very cold atmosphere. The shower cubicle could do with a little shelf to put toiletries on and only 1 hand towel was provided for the two of us. It would have been nice to have a tea/coffee tray in room. The bed was too hard for us.

Pros: I liked the location and the free chocolate croissants awaiting us.
Cons: There were cigarette butts in the ashtrays on the table outside our room. The door lock was difficult to secure and open.
7.1 Good
Pros: Very good breakfast (gluten free options). Superb location, allowing you to go to city centre on foot. Nice restaurants nearby. Communicating rooms very convenient for families.
Cons: Rooms quite small.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Small hotel in a great location for exploring the old town. Near to everything but area around hotel quiet. Some nice local bars in vicinity and a small Intermarche supermarket. Excellent breakfast in hotel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely little hotel in great location and with lovely staff. Provided Fairtrade coffee and tea in bedrooms, and eco-label toiletries in the bathroom. Recommended.
Cons: nothing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved location and parking facilities. Dog friendly
Cons: Nothing comes to mind
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room was quiet as it was at the back of the hotel overlooking the garden. It was not spacious but large enough and the bathroom was very nice. The breakfast buffet is good value. The hotel is very well situated: only a few minutes' walk from the Art Gallery and 5-10 minutes from the centre. Having parking available is a real asset! Staff were all very polite and helpful.
Cons: The access to other rooms ran right past the window so we could not leave it open.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Facilities to maybe dry clothing would be a big advantage, Motorcyclists having travelled 200+ miles in heavy rain, nowhere to dry clothing/boots/gloves Etc ready for the next day...
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I spent one night in the Garden Hotel on the way to my final vacation destination and another night on the way back. The rooms are clean and the bathrooms bright and cheery. The breakfast was really good, and I appreciated the newspapers available at breakfast. The location not far from the train station but also close to the historical center was perfect. Would definitely stay again!
Cons: There is not much natural light in the rooms. Also, the communication between the people working there could be better. When I checked in the woman assured me I could start breakfast early and even noted it down for her colleague, but in the morning he was surprised to see me and claimed that breakfast hadn't begun yet. In the end I was able to have it as planned though, so all was well.
7.9 Good
Pros: Good location, small but nice clean room.
Cons: We booked a room with a side patio, I only booked this hotel because of the patio thing as we have a small dog, also room description was room was on ground floor, when we arrived we were given a room on the 2nd floor with no patio! When I went down to reception to say I wanted the room I booked as I have a small dog the guy on reception was getting very annoyed with me! I insisted I wanted a room with the patio! I didn’t get a room on the ground floor which I had booked but one on the first floor which had a balcony which was better than nothing. Such a Shame really as the hotel is small but nice but when I book a room I expect to get the room I booked.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were super friendly.
Cons: Shower was a little bit wonky.

Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: A good clean hotel to say
Cons: On day we stayed on a weekend they did not make food mind you that's normal for France.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff speaks many languages, the hotel is quiet and the rooms are stylish and interesting. There is ample closet space, each room has a nice coffee maker, and the wifi is good enough to do most things.
Cons: Parking is a bit difficult if any of the businesses around the hotel are having events (the hotel is located in a business park, essentially). Also, while good the wifi isn't quite strong enough for a few business applications.
7.1 Good
Pros: The location was great for our needs, we had a RDV nearby. The decoration was chic and it was clean with a modern bathroom. My son (age 12) loved the pancakes at breakfast.
Cons: The welcome was a bit frosty from the receptionist. Only one pillow each and they were a bit lumpy, yes we could have asked for another but we arrived late and decided to live with it! most other hotels leave spares. The Coffee/Tea tray was very basic.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient location, easy to find, very helpful staff even when arriving at 3am!
Cons: Nothing to not like.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Not crowded, when we come there are not many people stayed.

Pros: Helpful reception staff and they have extra room for bicycles. The studio was ok a bit old furniture but clean
Cons: Cleaning of kitchen was not included wich is a no go if you pay that much for a hotel.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I didn't have the rather expensive breakfast as bakeries are easy to find in France. The mattress was comfortable and the bathroom spacious
Cons: the pillows were not great. As seems so common these days, the bedding did not fit the bed and needed to be completely remade before usable
