Pros: The breakfast was excellent and all food cooked and served fresh. Great choice of foods to suit everyone, including special diets. All foods sourced locally. Nothing was too much trouble.
Cons: There was nothing that I didn't like about this stay.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great B&B, close to Sheffield with a very welcoming hostess. She had kindly put us up in one of the larger rooms. The room was massive with a view of the back garden and neighbouring farms, which had cows, horses in them. We even saw a hare dart by. The view from the car park esp. of the sunset was amazing. Decent breakfast, large comfortable bed, good water pressure in the bathroom. We drove to an Indian restaurant for dinner (Urban Choola) and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food served.
Cons: Wifi was patchy but you get 4G, so not a deal breaker. Nothing else really as we had a happy stay for a night before heading home.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great along with the bedroom. Barnfield is on the outskirts of Loxley as of Robin Hood fame, it over looks trees, fields and is very quite. We will definitely try to returns soon.
Cons: Nought.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing quiet location close to the city.
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location was great. Boat clean and tidy
Cons: No cafetiere to make coffi.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything about our stay from the beautiful boat to the location .
Cons: There was nothing not to like
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, felt quite tucked away, but only a short walk into the city centre and to the railway station. The boat was cosy and clean, and it was lovely sitting on the deck.
Cons: It was odd that the directions for finding the place were completely designed for people driving, and not that easy to follow if you approached on foot. You would think (and hope!) that plenty of guests would be arriving on foot, given the excellent public transport connections, and being just 10 minutes' walk to a major railway station. Greater attention to sustainability would be good generally. It's not good that places are still using miniature plastic bottles of shampoo, plus individually wrapped tea and coffee sachets and mini UHT cartons, when they could be using refillable bottles, jars etc.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The perfect location in the heart of the city, yet quiet and tranquil in the historic Victoria Quays. The boat is of a very high standard with all that we needed for a short stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The boat was lovely. Very clean and comfortable. A lovely setting on the Victoria Keys/canal, close walking distance to the City Centre. My family and I enjoyed our stay. Would definitely book again and recommend to others.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really clean, great location, the owner is a really nice bloke.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I loved the boat was an amazing place to stay and had everything you could possibly need. Was a real treat for my son and nephew who loved the novelty of staying on a boat.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, easy and straightforward to check in, great change from the usual hotel and easy walk from the station, if you leave the station via the tram exit and follow the tracks.
Cons: It was windy the night I stayed and I could hear something banging on the boat and squeeky hinges. If I'd have stayed another night I would have investigated the cause. It did disturb my sleep but not my experience of the stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience exceeded all expectation def booking again our daughter will love it

Now with an adjoining hotel accommodation that is very quiet, rooms are spacious, well designed and very clean. The staff all appeared to be young and local and very committed.
Cons: The standard of the hotel internally is far more superior that you would expect from your arrival and heading towards reception. Work to provide a better internal link is planned.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Cigarette smell in corridor which had permeated room slightly but as the weather was fine we could have windows open wide all the time.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: We were upgraded from a double room to a suite overlooking garden and surrounding hills. Staff extremely friendly. Suite excellent. Loads of space. Comfortable bed. Tea/coffee facilities. Small dressing room area next to very large bathroom with bluetooth facility in mirror. Indoor corridor to the bar and restaurant in Red Lion pub extremely useful as it was too wet to use outside entrance. Red Lion warm and welcoming. Good menu.
Cons: Bathroom a bit cold. Maybe a hot towel rail/heater to warm things up a bit. ?
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Comfy bed quiet location
Cons: Over priced for the room

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Security upstairs
Cons: Windows outside our room needed cleaning . We don't like to complain but my wife had the 10oz gammon in 2 slices one was excellent but the other one looked like it had come off someone's shoe. We both had traditional breakfasts and the bacon was just as bad hard n crisp. We heard someone else complain and they got shunned by certain staff. So we kept quite. Must be our 4th weekend we've stayed with you. Last one was our 50th wedding anniversary. Staff put rose petals in shape of 50 and a heart. We will be back but stay away from certain items on the menu.

Cons: Would have like hotter water in shower.
9.2 Excellent

7.0 Good
Pros: Nice old rambling hotel situated in the centre of town with a number of good bars and restaurants within easy reach..
Cons: There was an unpleasant smell in the reception area and ground floor. My wife explained this was supposed to be a welcoming 'scent' but I found it over-powering and frankly nauseous. No doubt advocated by some up and coming young executive who doesn't know ought.

Pros: I loved the stay. 10/10 would go there again and recommend to friends and family. I left a £5 tip too.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Fresh milk for tea and coffee in the room
Cons: Bed linen pillow case was very threadbare which is not the usual standard . Did notify reception who were surprised and will tell housekeeping.
6.7 Good
Pros: Helpful and polite staff. Clean rooms. Comfortable beds.
Cons: We stayed an extra night. Hotel has become venue for wedding receptions. Music kept me awake until early hours. Wrote to make management aware, but apparently because no one else complained (were they at the reception?) it wasn’t an issue. They claim to check noise with decibel metre, which they believe more than their guests. According to some staff it’s a common problem but events staff ignore complaints. If your a light sleeper choose somewhere else at weekends!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect as always

Cons: No tea/coffee faculties in room. Limited parking
7.0 Good
Pros: Fridge available/coffee making facilities/big bathroom: great shower/comfy bed
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was great; within walking distance of Eccleshall Road and parks. Reasonable choice for breakfast, caters for all.
Cons: Perhaps more milk in the fridge in the coffee stations on the landings
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed, large shower. Tea and coffee machine on each floor.. and fresh cookies each afternoon!
Cons: Two chairs in each room would have been good.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The dining room needs more atmosphere . Perhaps a table cloth and tidy up cushions which were scattered on floor. The food was excellent but that's as far as it goes. The waitress was very excellent but to say she was multitasking was an understatement.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Leafy setting, close to university halls of residence, so ideally located for parents like us delivering 1st year student for fresher week. Mostly young staff, all friendly, obliging and polite. Coffee machine and giant cookie jar (sometimes empty!) on each floor. No bath in our room, but very good shower, which has almost converted my bath-loving, shower-hating spouse. Breakfast and attentive service excellent.
Cons: Shower plughole blocked, so had to keep turning shower off to allow water to drain away - very slowly. Much to my wife's annoyance, bathroom extractor fan refused to switch off, keeping her awake. No view from our particular room, unless you consider a flat roof populated with air-conditioning units a view. No clean cups left at coffee-making station even at 7:30 am.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Despite being next to student halls of residence it was very quiet and peaceful. The room was clean and the decor was pleasant. Shower room was great. There were no drinks making facilities in the room, but a machine in the corridor, so that is not a problem. Overall very pleasant. I would stay there again!
Cons: Room where breakfast was held was without windows and not very pleasant.
7.1 Good
Pros: Cleanliness was fine, staff were friendly and the breakfast was superb, offering what was quite possibly the best chocolate croissant I've ever tasted.
Cons: Small rooms. No kettle in the rooms - these were instead located in the hallways on each floor. Not great if you're a keen tea or coffee drinker.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building in excellent location. Free parking.
Cons: Steps up to building and inside to floors
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were friendly and helpful. Room warm and attractive. Breakfast tasty and well -presented.
Cons: Dinner disappointing,, but problem resolved at hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Plenty of tea/coffee comfy bed and generous sized bathroom, and it was all spotless
Cons: Super hotel, clean, comfortable, lovely bathroom, staff friendly and helpful and great value would recommend

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff, clean and great restaurant food, particularly the evening meal.
Cons: Wi-Fi not the best in parts of the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A 3 star hotel with a 5 star service - could not have asked or wished for more. Just passing through, staying just one night - we would stay again.
Cons: Everything was just perfect.
6.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast very good. Building and location had character and promised much. Grounds fed by private driveway leading to spacious carpark. Evening meal appeared to be ok at first .... but
Cons: Location of hotel means you are obliged to eat in the restaurant. Menu seems OK, with an apparent set cost (1,2 or 3 courses) but a lot of supplementary costs. Menu open to interpretation about what you get with your main meal - I got it wrong. Therefore what I got was poor value for money. Double bed made of two single mattresses. This was a blessing, becasue my preferreed side had collapsed, so slept on the other side. WiFi and mobile phone signal reception very flakey. Room cold (despite electric panel heater on full).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Big room, comfortable bed, big tv, lovely bathroom
Cons: Food was a little overpriced, but the quality was good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I am on a specific diet a there was a lovely choice.

Cons: Nothing.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the older original part of the historic house in a room with a beautiful view to the lake and garden. It was very handy having such a lovely restaurant for us to have a reunion dinner with our friends who are locals. The location was just perfect after a busy few days in London.
Cons: The bed was a bit small but a bigger bed would take up too much space in the room. We would have liked a safe and fridge in the room.
7.1 Good
Pros: Pretty country hotel just outside Sheffield.
Cons: Room 14 walls paper thin. Heard next doors (15) tv till the early hours of the morning not to mention the shenanigans going on in the bath. Also water pressure in shower next to no good. Other guests have mentioned this but nothing has been done.
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff and the food. Nice location
Cons: Shower didn’t work properly. Noisy rooms and uncomfortable bed
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The bed was lovely & comfy, the staff on arrival were friendly & welcoming
Cons: The windows were left open in our room when we arrived & although we closed them the room was freezing cold, we couldn't get warm all night, the bathroom radiator did come on in the morning but if I ever stayed here again I'd definitely take extra layers.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The old part of the property was lovely english heritage stunning
Cons: Nothing was a lovely place to visit
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Liked the scenery and area. Staff were very friendly. Nice building and rooms.
Cons: I requested a bottle of Prosecco to be in the room on arrival. This was there but I had an email from yourselves stating this was done at no extra charge. Whilst I was happy to pay was surprised on checkout to find this was on the bill. Bit misleading from either yourselves or Whitley hall. Also above the unit in the room(5) where the TV was incredibly dusty with several used ear buds. Can provide photos but don’t want to attach them here in case they automatically go online as wouldn’t want to affect the reputation of the hotel.
5.0 Okay
Cons: I booked a double room for me and my partner and got a 3 quarter size bed for the both of us, we got in about half 7 that evening as was at a wedding, we got changed and walked around the grounds it was dark out and as walking my partner fell down a hole in the ground which went up to his knees, we went inside and explained to reception, my partner explained and went and showed him the hole, we looked again in the morning and was still open and anyone could fall through it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about it was excellent, the staff were friendly and helpful, the location stunning. Would definitely go again
Cons: A wedding party that that had no respect for the surroundings or staff, or other hotel guests
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything restaurant in particular
Cons: Wonderful hotel, super and polite efficient staff all areas, restaurant was superb, all in all it was a pleasure to stay there and we will be back for sure

Pros: A great find, second time we've stayed there. Booked 2 nights bed and breakfast but as we needed to be away early on our first morning we thought we would have to forego breakfast, but they very kindly offered us a "picnic" breakfast which was great. All the staff are really friendly and it's warm, comfortable and clean. The bedrooms are separate to the restaurant/pub so it was very quiet.

Overview Reviews
This hotel is set in the stunning Mayfield Valley amid picturesque countryside on the edge of the Peak District. The Norfolk Arms is a recently renovated, historic Grade II-listed coaching inn. It offers fantastic views, a restaurant and bar, meeting rooms and conference facilities. The hotel is an excellent base from which to explore the Peak District National Park or Sheffield city centre.
5.0 Okay
Pros: It was clean and it looked as if the bath room had been recently renovated. The room was very large. The pub and cafe downstairs had a good vibe.
Cons: There was a strong smell of damp carpet and a water stain leading from the heater. I regret not asking to be moved as the room should not have been let until the smell had gone. The hotel is a pretty old building so the floor had a big slope on it which was really pronounced in the the bathroom around the toilet which was a bit unsettling. Also there was a smell in the bathroom particularly when the door was closed.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: No fuss service meeting all my requirements
Cons: The weather
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly welcome, perfect setting and very comfortable room. We didn’t eat there but I was very pleased to see an extensive Vegan and vegetarian menu. We will definitely stay here again.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location was great for us as we were attending a wedding nearby. It was a small cosy place with good food and the staff were friendly. The room was really big with everything we needed.
Cons: The shower was absolutely shocking. Came out like a dribble and the head wasn’t adjustable and pointed pretty much straight down so you near enough had to press yourself against the wall to get under it. I think our room could also have done with a new carpet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff Clean, spacious room Good quality food, reasonable prices with generous portions Great range of real ales
Cons: nothing really
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Food was very good. Many dining areas with lots of space and light. Spacious bedroom away from public space
Cons: TV noise from bedroom(s) above until 4am. Corridor doors close with a Big Bang, this wouldn't happen if one door was marked as the one to push on.

Pros: The bed was huge and very comfortable. The bathroom was spotless and the rooms weren’t too hot. Had a room on the ground floor at the back and it was nice and quiet.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location is very close to the centre, a lot of security measures. Good english breakfast
Cons: At the breakfast there where no vegetables. No frige in the room.
7.1 Good
Pros: breakfast was good a lot of choice, staff were very friendly and helpful, hotel close to venues great
Cons: the beds were a little on the hard side for my liking
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed, good choice for breakfast
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Soy milk as well as vegetarian sausages and fresh fruits are available for breakfast. The twin rooms we stayed in was very clean. I love the toiletries (bodywash/shampoo, conditioner, handlotion). Ironing board, hair dryer, and instant coffee/thee in the room. There are enough plugs in the room.
Cons: the rooms was not really spacious but everything we need was there. I don't like that there is sugar in almost everything (beans, cereals, soy milk, etc.) but that is apparently everywhere. I would like to see vegetarian sausages that are actually protein rich and not only potatoes with vegetables.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good size and well appointed rooms. Spotlessly clean.
Cons: Bar and restaurant not well stocked but the proximity to other bars and restaurants negates the need.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Rooms spacious bright and clean, fantastic breakfast and the staff were all superb
Cons: It was quite a walk away but still only about 10 minutes walk
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was comfortable and clean. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was very nice with a lovely spacious shower. The complimentary buffet breakfast was fine, with very fresh tasting food which was hot. There was a gym and other facilities that I didn't use as I was out & about most of the time. The cost of just short of £148 for 2 of us for 2 nights was, I thought, very fair. There were also 24 hour snacks available & we were able to get a pint at close to midnight on a Sunday evening!
Cons: I thought the £12.50 per night parking charge for paying guests was excessive.
6.7 Good
Pros: Friendly staff, good location, clean room.
Cons: Additional bed was not suitable for 2 people, dipped in the middle, didn’t sleep well at all. Some of the cooked breakfast was cold and some undercooked.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very clean. Helpful and friendly staff
Cons: Very hard bed
5.4 Okay
Cons: no restaurant, very slow in serving at the bar, personnel not relly friendly, no napkins at breakfast in the morning
