Fantastic Cafe with nice and helpful staff. Beautiful location just at the foot of the mountain. Very peaceful.
Staff in the restaurant seemed to think we were a bother, rather than customers. Lots of misbehaving Chinese over-the-day visitors; one pair even went up onto our porch and pulled at our door, despite our shoes sitting outside and the TV being on inside. Worst of all; no way to get around outside the resort, besides expensive taxi. We felt very stranded at the resort.
When the staff could be bothered to bring it to us, the to yum was serviceable. The resort grounds were well maintained. There is an orange cat by the entrance that is quite cute.
The resort is not fit for family or individual travel in any way. The worst part of Lanna Resort is the staff. The staff are just awful. Disregarding the rudeness, incompetence, negligence, and general bad customer service, they're just hateful. On our final night on the property, the staff had a raucous drinking party outside of our villa that lasted until 23:00. When we asked them to keep it down because we had an early flight they mocked us and danced in front of our villa and continued on with their party. The staff. Of a hotel. Did that. Absolutely no one who isn't part of a Chinese tour group should stay here. There's nothing wrong with 45 Chinese people on a tour group together - more power to them - but it's a problem when the staff won't even recognize other guests. Breakfast buffet? Only lasts as long as the Chinese tourists are there. Dinner? Coconuts on every table to reserve seats for the groups, none for you. Need a car? Never heard of such a vehicle; the only vehicles around here are buses filled with Chinese tourists. Desk assistance? No one to be found when the Chinese tour groups aren't around. Want to sleep in? Well, the Chinese buses are gone so here come the leaf blowers. They genuinely have no idea what to do with travelers who didn't come on a Chinese tour bus. The resort itself is lovely, and the accommodations nice for the price - architecturally at least. They will not arrange transport despite being on expansive grounds, even to the front gate. They do not help with electrical problems. The Valley Coffee by Lanna - the cafe on the grounds - keeps irregular hours. Their bikes are landfill fodder with exposed metal in the crotch area. Oh, and when we bumped the air-con to prevent it from making a buzzing noise, our bed was showered in about 200 bugs. They genuinely don't want you there. So don't stay there.
Comfortable. In a nice scenic area
The staff had very limited english. Was nt able to communicate if breakfast was available, and how breakfast would be served. I felt stranded being told that my travels to the horse farm cannot be done by walking or cycling cos its not safe and i can only travel abt by Grab. (This was communicated via google translate)
Unfortunately can’t recommend this place. Yes, the territory and nature are magic. If you are gonna stay here, at least ask for the house number 6 or 5. These are the best! I mean their location with a magic view. Also they have quite good breakfasts.
As for the other: 1. The swimming pool didn’t work, it was broken, and we couldn’t use it during our two days stay there. 2. It is extremely noisy there. In the morning, starting from 8:30, staff cleans the territory (I have videos, unfortunately can't add them here). Beside that during the day there is a building on the territory, and repair works. And they have karaoke, so you can be "lucky" to hear terrible singing. So it’s quite hard to relax fully. 3. There is only one cafe on a territory, that works until 5:30 pm. You won’t be able to eat or drink coffee, tea after. That was the biggest surprise for us, as we came to celebrate birthday and we’re gonna have dinner there. On booking and hotels brochures it is said that they have restaurant, and that cafe works till 10pm. I can tell for sure, it is not true!
The location of this resort was lovely if you were looking for a very remote stay. Cabins were unique.
Really have to plan in advance if you’re hoping to go to the old town as there isn’t any taxis linked to the resort. There’s a massive language barrier too. Had been booked in for 3 nights but only stayed for 1.
