Cons: Service was boardline TOO GOOD if that is such a thing

Cons: The maintenance guy who tried to fix a broken bathroom light was using very profane language as he failed at repairing the light. However, this staff member's behavior scored us a free upgrade from city view - to river lake view - so it all worked out.

Cons: The pool area was not on par with the essence or ambiance of the rest of the hotel, with the lack of hot tub areas and the extreme plainness of the pool area compared to the rest of the hotel.

Cons: Had some unusually noisy middle-of-the-night mechanical noises. Staff compensated us with points willingly and graciously more than making up for it.

Cons: Rooms are a little dark.

Cons: Pool was small and not kid friendly. A 16oz pop was $4 plus tax at hotel store

Cons: I liked it all

Cons: No free WiFi in room, just lounge area. Pool and jacuzzi were closed, which was a real disappointment since it was one of the major reasons why I chose the hotel. My view wasn't great but I understand it's kind of a thing that's out of my control.

Cons: The hotel was nice overall but a few experiences totally ruined our trip. First off, it's the middle of the summer and the air conditioning in our room wasn't working. So we had to sleep in an 80 degree room. Next we found a massive blood stain on the comforter that someone tried to wash but it never came out. Absolutely disgusting! There was also mild in the shower which again goes to show the rooms are NOT clean. There was also very little lighting in the room and most did not even work. For over $300 a night do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

Cons: Here's the thing: The Hyatt hotel is immaculately clean, provides comfortable bedding, has a large, clean Gym, and is near most of the things that I would want to do in a short period of time in Chicago... So why two? Because these are the things that any hotel should have. Saying these things are a perk of the Hyatt is like saying or Raven has the perk of being especially black- it's a raven, of course it's feathers are black- The problem here is that the photography and the advertising of the hotel makes it appear to be something that it is not: it is not a stunning luxury property. It does not have an incredibly intuitive and beyond accommodating staff, and it is not a property that includes the kind of accommodations that I'd expected when I had originally booked my stay. More on par with a comfort inn, or Marriott courtyard, then a main-name property such as JW Marriott, Hilton, or Westin, this "Hyatt" seemed bare-bones and disorganized. Two rather slow elevator trips separate you from any convenience of entrance and exit- The room was not ready when I arrived and the option suggested to me in compensation was a larger suite that featured less beds then I requested and came at an additional cost, as that was my fault my room was not ready, and as if if I would prefer to pay more for something that offered less than what I had asked for. At any class hotel, I wouldn't have been upgraded, and I would have been upgraded at cost to the property. The bathrooms, while clean, were adorned with showerheads that looked like they had been purchased in a 1986 apartment building resale auction and worked about as well as an exposed drain pipe I once showered beneath in Thailand. Parking is a full $24 per day more expensive than the majority of the garages around the area, which for the life of me I can't understand why, and the valets took nearly 15 minutes more than they had suggested to retrieve my car when requested, and did so in such a manner that the majority of things I keep in my trunk had shifted- and believe me for someone who drives as aggressively as I do without cause for such an occurrence- this can only lead me to believe that the valets thought perhaps they were in a stock car race. overall, it's not so much that I dislike to my stay at the Hyatt- it's that being in Chicago native company, and a highly rated hotel, with a main branch name, I genuinely expected to be walking into a situation that was just one star more professional than what I received- and the Accumulation of one experience after the other constantly coming in just slightly less than what it should have been found me leaving the hotel with a fairly negative taste in my mouth, not for the stay that I received, but for the complete and underwhelming lack of what I had expected. My suggestion- if you were going to stay 20 minutes outside the city at some discount hotel, this place is better. But if you want the downtown Chicago experience, don't even look in this direction

Cons: Not the hotels fault but due to covid, restaurant/bar was closed during our stay. Only open Thursday-Sat or Sun. Did care for having to go up to 2nd floor lobby and then switching elevators to get to our room

Cons: Having the staff sitting behind a desk seemed a little odd. Eye level would be nice.

Cons: USB outlets caused some issues with phones, and in-room dining is ridiculously expensive.

Cons: Not at all what I've experienced from a four star hotel. The rooms weren't very big or nice. And the attendants at the lobby were sitting down, which I found odd. I would never rate this a four star hotel, I found it akin to Aloft hotels. I also bought this room for a friend's birthday, and they said they don't do anything special for birthdays. I've stayed at 3 star hotels that send up champagne on birthdays.

Cons: View from the room was basically an alley and parking lot, not the best view in Chicago by any means. Breakfast ends a little early. Free drinks at the "lounge" was a great surprise but the lounge itself is a bizarre little room.

Cons: Unfortunately, our car was towed during the valet check in. That was a bit of a hassle.

Cons: Nothing. Except no vending machines for beverages. But a seven-eleven right around the corner so that worked.

Cons: The check in desks aren't the best, it gets congested and it's loud. The evening reception is nice however I received one coin for one drink?! I saw many others with many coins for drinks.

Cons: Breakfast could be better. It's basically just juice, coffee and danish. They used to have toast and bagels when it was the Amalfi which I preferred. Prices have really gone up over the years. We have been staying at this location for a number of years (a few visits per year).

Cons: Everything was a little small (hotel room, lobby, etc). It was modern and boutique-like, but I wouldn't consider it a luxury hotel.

Cons: While we were okay with "no view", we didn't care for others looking into our windows. We had to keep our blinds closed the entire time. Sheers would be nice to still have the light but still have piece of mind about privacy. Perhaps next time we will ask for a view!!

Cons: - no room service - no movie purchase options - by 4-5pm I had to ask ever day to have room cleaned - Valet parking is $50 per night but if u walk to the lot they park your car at they only charge $30. Plus, all surrounding lots, less than a block away, charge between $25-30. When I brought up how they are overcharging for parking I was told to download an app and search for cheaper parking in the area....what service.....- shower had a glass wall that overlooked the room so anyone in your room can see you in the shower or on the toilet. there is a curtain but it barely covers the glass and it's on the room side meaning the person in the shower doesn't control the curtain. - shower glass wall leaked into the room. The carpet between the bed and the shower was soaked for my entire stay

Cons: The rooom had a door that wasn't sealed well so it was loud. The ceiling is cement so it made the room feel very cramped almost like being in a coffin. The staff was weird and looked like they were hired off the street. The locker room and work out room were poor. It's a weird place. Just had a bad vibe. And the hotel itself feels like a cheap conversion of an 80s built apartment building. Looks like they cut corners all over the place. I won't stay there again and probably won't use kayak again for hotels after my experience. They made it very clear that because I booked through a "3rd party" that they didn't accommodate my problem with the noise the same as if I booked through them.

Cons: Nothing could have been improved. I am completely satisfied with our stay. A helpful tip would be to bring a shower cap to protect your hair with the rain forest shower design.

Cons: I drove from Milwaukee to Chicago for the overnight stay me and my fiancee for her birthday and we were hoping to attend the lounge on the rooftop and was denied due to a dresscode we knew nothing about i feel if i paid my money and staying at the hotel i should've been able to attend or at least tell your customers ahead of time about dresscode unfair and drove to Chicago for nothing completely disappointed

Cons: The hotel rooms were absolutely amazing

Cons: We checked into the hotel at about 8 in the evening the night befor, and the desk clerk at that time let us know if we needed a late check-out just let the front desk know.... In the morning around 1030am, we requested from a different desk clerk a later check out time of an hour ot so. The clerk at the desk was undeservedly rude to us in telling us no. There are many better ways to deliver a no to a paying guest.

Cons: It was a bit too trendy for me and lacked a sense of community in the lobby. Other than at check out, there was always a line to speak with the front desk and no one was at the concierge desk. There wasn't a way to block the street lights out as the block out curtains didn't cover the edge of the windows - thought they did a fine job of blocking out most sunlight. The room was set up poorly - no garbage near the coffee maker, hard to find outlets and hard to figure out how to turn on the various lights - one lamp I could never find the switch for. Awesome for hot make out sessions, less ideal for reviewing conference materials.

Cons: The room was poorly set up so that the shower (and everything else in the bathroom) was visible from the bed - making it nearly impossible to have any privacy considering the control of the curtain which covers the glass is left in the control of the person outside of the bathroom. We had also requested a quiet room, not located directly under the roofdeck club to be able to sleep in and relax while staying there. What we did not account for was the incredibly loud construction beginning before 8am on a Saturday directly above our room. When we contacted guest services to help resolve the issue, they were slow to respond and weren't as sympathetic / helpful as I would have imagined. At 12PM on Saturday, we were awoken by a large party on the floor above us with at least 20 people and loud music - this also took guest services a while to respond to. When we booked this room, we were thrilled to be staying in a hotel / spa for a relaxing weekend. It seemed the hotel was more of a party hotel than anything.

Cons: Room, especially near mirror and closet, was dark. Lighting in this area seemed more designed for style than function. Reservations service was poor in that they kept me waiting for over 20 minutes while I was trying to change rooms. In the end I had to hang up because I ran out of time.

Cons: It's old, feels old and the staff simply does not care about whether guests come back or not. The grounds are lovely.

Cons: Ambulances and police cars racing by all night kept us awake. Bed was like a rock and pillows were not great!

Cons: Walls maybe thin in some rooms. The furniture is starting to get dated but it's still fine.

Cons: Hotel wasn't nearly as nice as other embassy suites I have stayed at.

Cons: The price on the all inclusive Disney kids on Demand TV package I order did not reflect what was charged to my bill. It was only a difference of $2.99 and ultimately not a big deal, but still, I feel as though you should be paying what you are quoted. Also, being that it was a holiday weekend, it would have been nice if breakfast was open until 10 as it is on the weekends, but I get the weekend vs. weekend schedule. The lines were a bit long by the end of breakfast and early breakfast is always hard to do with my kids. But again, not a huge deal in the whole scheme of things. We will definitely be back.
