8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent, served by very friendly and efficient waitress. The dinner we had the previous evening was also very good, with plenty of choice, superb local real ales too. On arrival the charming staff asked if we would like a double instead of twin beds (all that was available when booking), which we accepted gratefully. All in all a very good overnight stay in a lovely hotel in a charming location. Plenty of local walks too.
Cons: Nothing, charming old style hotel, friendly & efficient staff, large, clean comfortable room, good value.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I particularly liked the decor and ambience, and the ambience of the staff.
Cons: There was a problem with the plumbing and a dropping toilet
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location- staff
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were really friendly and helpful. Food was good - I had dinner and breakfast there. Nice walk to the river from the pub, maps available in the room and from reception. Comfortable room. Quiet which was an unexpected bonus staying in pub accommodation.
Cons: The bedroom I stayed in smelt of cigarette smoke when I first arrived. The window was wide open (it was March so fairly cold outside). The smell did go over time. Otherwise the room was clean and comfortable.

Pros: Stunning location - wonderful food - excellent service
Cons: Room facilities (no telephone to contact reception, no water glasses in room, only one armchair in room)
5.0 Okay
Pros: The meal at the evening was good and the front of house was great who showed us to the room. The rest of the staff were poor and didn’t offer any help in regards to menu, drinks or local things to do.
Cons: The hotel wasn’t up to a standard of a 5 star, we expected much more. The breakfast was terrible and the room didn’t have any shampoo or body wash as you would expect.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location and facilities were good and staff were attentive and helpful - not a criticism but note all rooms are external to the pub in adjacent buildings and moving between room and pub in the howling wind and rain wasn't the best on our stay
Cons: room was cold with no heating on when we arrived and didn't warm up until late on in the evening Food was excellent but menu extremely limited as a vegetarian unless you eat fish
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for one night and was just what we needed. The room was clean and tidy and the bathroom was amazing! We will definitely stay again.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very welcoming .
5.4 Okay
Pros: Nice location. Staff were friendly when we saw them. Breakfast was decent. Room looks nice on first impressions.
Cons: The floor in the bedroom was massively uneven, making it difficult to watch the tv and walk around the room. We had to use the door wedge to prop the tv up. The bed frame wasn’t clean and under the bed, there was all manor of things, including grit. The bed was very low, pillows were hard and there was no hot water for a shower in the evening, which was ridiculous when we were going to a wedding night do. We complained, but it wasn’t fixed. Seemed to work in the morning though. Quite noisy, as the rooms are directly above the pub, so lots of background noise. No heating in the bathroom either, or an extractor fan to get rid of excess steam. There had also been a leak at some point, which had come through onto our ceiling right above our bed, which hadn’t been fixed. Cracked window pane, plus other bits and pieces, including missing cupboard door handles. Staff few and far between. We complained in the morning that there was no hot water. Got an apology, but nothing else. Massively overpriced.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The food in the restaurant was lovely.
Cons: The carpet in the room was dirty, everything else was fine.

Pros: Excellent location for getting out in the beautiful Bowland countryside, with wonderful eating venues close by. Great rooms and fantastic breakfasts during the stay but the very best feature was the welcome and service from the owners. We stayed during storm Ciara and the owners could not have done more to ensure we were looked after including offering us our room for an extra night for free.
Cons: Not sure even these owners could change the weather!
