4.0 Okay
Pros: quiet location, room was cheap.. Bar and restaurant available, open fire place , friendly reception. vegetarian options available
Cons: room was tiny which I expected but the room was not very clean, - carpet in the toilet area, cobwebs on lights, dead spider in the corner of the room on the wall, view from the window was of a courtyard which had thrown out garlic bread and other food on the floor as well as old appliances and generally untidy. Very dated hotel needs bringing into the 21st century

3.0 Mediocre
Cons: Check in, greeted to be told the booking shouldn't have gone through as the cut off was 8pm, it was only 9pm when we arrived. Poor start to a visit. Woke up at 7am kids making a noise doors below slamming. Dog barking. Overall not happy. Old tired run down room. The view from bedroom window looked scruffy. I attended a wedding a few years ago, it was like night and day, really gone downhill.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sparkling clean surfaces, pristine bedding, plus a warm and welcoming atmosphere, made this short stay a very comfortable for us both. Standing all by itself on a clearly marked corner, the Old Posting House is easy to reach and the wide car park was within an easy walk to the main property. “Mine host” welcomed us and showed us up to our room and we quickly settled in, noting that the flowers I’d ordered were on display as requested ( it was St. Valentines and I’m definitely an old romantic !) Our Evening Meal plus a very well kept bottle of Chilean Rosé went down very well. “Simply delicious” was the verdict from both of us, I was pleasantly surprised to be served with an after dinner glass of Remy Martin as more often than not, this ‘King of Brandies “ is unavailable even in much more elevated establishments.
Cons: Not a lot!

Cons: Had a small problem with the heating of our room. Let owners know and they were mortified and would get it sorted. It will not put us off returning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were clean, comfortable, well equipped and quiet. We were unable to stay for an evening meal but the menu and facilities were impressive and we'll make a point of eating here in the future. The hosts were friendly, helpful and attentive without being intrusive. A terrific breakfast was provided, check in and check out was very easy and the car parking space is huge. All in all a great place to stay.
Cons: Nothing at all.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly welcome from the owners. Great room, good quality beds and large shower room. Great to just pop downstairs fo have our home cooked evening meal especially as weather very wet and windy so not wanting to venture out. Both had a fantastic steak & ale pie - generous portions. Breakfast was also freshly cooked and great quality like, the evening meal. An extremely enjoyable stay, with good quality, clean and comfortable room which exceeded our expectations, great food and hospitality....can’t ask for any more and would certainly recommend or return when family next up here. A home from home.

Pros: We've stayed here a couple of times before. It is in a superb location, close to the A66 but tucked away and very quiet. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Very good breakfast but generally the food was disappointing. Lovely bar.
Cons: It is several years since we stayed at the Pheasant, but we found our room very tired and in need of a revamp, but the bed was very comfortable. We understand the hotel has recently been taken over by a small group, so hopefully an upgrade to its former glory is on the cards.
