Pros: Fantastic hosts who were very friendly. The room itself was wonderful; comfy bed, lovely bathroom complete with bath, well stocked tea/coffee making facilities and a stunning view of the house garden and Devonshire countryside. It was a very quiet room with no road noise or any noise from the rest of the house. Surrounding area is perfect for gentle strolls or more strenuous hikes. Good access to Torbay area or back up into Somerset.

7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was very good. Room was well planned for its size! Staff were very pleasant and worked hard for dinner and breakfast
Cons: There was no full length (or any other) mirror in the bedroom. Not good if you are a couple sharing and if one of you were in the bathroom!!
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff and the food.
Cons: The room, no 6, was small, poorly equipped, no chair, no dressing table, no full length mirror, no shelf in the bathroom, a huge tree within 3 feet of the very small window thus very dark.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were really friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Home made Burgers were amazing.....so full of flavour! Being able to sit outside on the terrace and lawn to eat was lovely and Lily the Lab got a bowl of water. Lovely comfy beds with white linen and thick white towels.....heaven!
Cons: Unfortunately, the otherwise beautiful walk-in wet room, was diminished by the badly cracked marble tiles on the floor (?? Subsidence). The car parks had lots of potholes.

Cons: What appeared to be a banging door...heard in the bedroom. The kitchen? We mentioned this three years ago.

8.8 Excellent (1,554 reviews)
C$ 107+
Overview Reviews

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location relaxing atmosphere staff were excellent and obliging first class establishment will certainly recomend
Cons: I cannot honestly pick fault We had a lovely relaxing break
5.8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was good although only one staff member waiting who was stretched to cope.
Cons: Bedroom with sloping ceilings bed being king size and a beam in the middle of the room meant that the bed was close to the widow wall (two feet only between the wall and bed) which meant that when getting out of bed one would have to lean over to avoid the ceiling. Would have been better with a double instead of a king size bed. Also shower squeezed in so much so that when having a shower one would hit head on a beam. Nice location but in the middle of nowhere no footpaths on roads so impossible to safely walk anywhere, which meant driving anywhere. Having booked a table for evening meal table allocated by open door causing cold air making the seating uncomfortable, when asked if door could be closed told by a waitress no to hot and I have to serve meals outside. Even though there was tables not in use not offered an alternative table.

7.5 Good
Pros: The history of the castle and peaceful surroundings.
Cons: Shared bathroom, noisy fellow residents and the dodgy electrics.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is an extraordinary destination. It's a castle with beautifully restored rooms. It is more of a quiet retreat than a place of activity. (Although there is a nice guided walk.) It's geared toward weddings, so you'll need to find dining options outside the hotel. Fortunately there is a fantastic pub called Cadeleigh Arms within a short drive. Owner gave us a history lesson of the castle, showed us its museum-quality artifacts, and let us into the adjacent ~AD 600 chapel. Very good value.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lots of history in the buildings and a great tour guide / owner to show us around
4.6 Okay
Pros: Staff greeting us were very friendly.
Cons: Linen dirty. Carpet didn’t appear to have been hoovered as there were bits on the floor. The single bed in the family room had glitter on the sheets. Room 2 was right next to reception, separated a thin door. This woke us up in the morning with hotel guests speaking at the reception. Noise from upstairs - can hear people using the toilet and walking all around their room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What could be better than a night in a castle? Our room was in a small cottage attached to the main castle building. The gardens and surroundings are amazing!
Cons: Nothing at all.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were clean and it is such a beautiful property. Staff were so helpful and anything you asked was never a problem. The tour around the castle was a lovely touch. Thank you
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely gorgeous castle. Steeped in history. The kind of place it's a privilege to stay in because you will probably never actually own anything like it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, lovely staff
7.9 Good
Pros: Continental Breakfast was given as a bonus and was excellent. The extra tour of the castle another bonus. The grounds were well kept and we were allowed to park in the main forecourt as the hotel was not full.
Cons: Evening meal is not available on a Monday only Thursday, Friday and Saturday at this time of year, the local Hostelry provided a good meal. No Wi Fi in Room and most of the hotel, almost a must nowadays. The room heating was not on and we found it a little cold at night. Sorry we forgot to mention this to the owners.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location, fortified castle shadow of its former self but enough remaining to let your imagination run riot. Bed linen crisp as clean - delightful
Cons: It's luck of the draw my room v cramped and not in range of wifi.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast included was lovely, the cooked food looked amazing, the scenery was great, the hosts could not do enough for you, and the tour around the castle was informative. lookout for the painting with musket ball holes and the old church building,

Pros: Location was ideal for visiting family in Tiverton. Easy to find. Our room was a good size & fairly quiet.
Cons: I would have preferred a walk-in shower as I find it difficult to get into a bath. Our booking details said room with mobility access but we were on the first floor with no lift. It wasn't too much of an issue for us but could be in the future.
