Our 2-star Hôtel / Restaurant is located in Burgundy, in the heart of Charollais Région: in Digoin (10 min from Paray le Monial), very close to the express road. The hotel is very comfortable: air conditioning, swimming pool, private bathroom, digicode, parking and garage. The restaurant of the hotel will offer you the typical cooking of the region.
Pros: The food in the restaurant was very pleasant and the plait de jour, very good value. The beds were very comfortable and even though could do with modernising, were very clean and pleasant.
Cons: Admin did not have a record of my booking.com booking when I arrived. Luckily they had availability so not a problem on this occasion. I don't know how this happened as I had received confirmation.
Pros: Restaurant was excellent!! Staff were fantastic, location great, interesting village with canal boats. We enjoyed our stop over here.
Pros: decent room, though a boring view of the street and train station. excellent dinner at the restaurant, though breakfast was very basic.
Pros: Very friendly and helpfull staff. They did not cause my bad voting. My dinner was o.k., but not cheap.
Cons: Many minor repairs are due to be done: loose hooks, leaking joints, holes in the wall /different wallpapers ... Nightstand was not wiped and sticky. Breakfast quality was below everage.
Pros: We ate dinner on the terrace at the back of the hotel,, food and wine was excellent and very good value. All staff pleasant and helpful.
Pros: A tradditional french town hotel with a brasserie. Has an old fashioned charm but everything works fine and rooms are massive! Bikes can be stored in a locked garage. Restaurant is tradditional french fayre.
Cons: Reception does not open until 6pm
Pros: A cosy hotel with popular restaurant in a pleasant town. Easy parking at rear of hotel. Near Canal and within walking distance of Pont Canal. Outdoor swimming pool looked inviting. Friendly staff. Excellent value for money.
Cons: For the money paid there were no complaints.
Pros: Staff friendly and accommodating since we were traveling by bicycle. Dinner in restaurant was excellent
Cons: Pillows and towels needed replacement, breakfast was disappointing, no milk ,no fruit salad, no eggs , poor selection of bread
After sailors from the Loire, after stage coach travellers, after guests brought by the old omnibus from the Paris train, the Diligences now offers you the hospitality and culinary tradition, constantly updated, which have made it famed in Digoin since the 17th century. They have redecorated the hotel to provide 6 individually appointed guest rooms with every comfort and a delightful terrace in the interior courtyard and a superb wine list. The tranquillity of the river reigns throughout.
Pros: Easy to find and very well run, the hotel was sparkling clean and the dinner was superb. We really enjoyed eating out in the courtyard on a hot summer evening. The bed was very comfortable and we had a kettle to make our own coffee in the room which is a nice touch, not always available when travelling in France. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and we were pleased to be able to park in the courtyard under cover in a secure place.
Pros: Location of the hotel was excellent, down by the river Loire and easy walking to the canal, which crosses the Loire via a most impressive bridge. Room with a balcony. Public parking nearby. Staff all very nice. Weather was superb!
Cons: Menu was a bit restricted and wine was very expensive. Didn’t see another restaurant near to where we were staying but possible we missed It!
Pros: Food is superb A very pleasant expierience
Pros: Great dinner in lovely courtyard
Pros: The view was very nice, next to the river in a lovely village. Very charming and typical "French". Nice lady when we checked in. Beautiful surrounding at the river "Loire". Lots of towels in the bathroom. Baby bed was already in the room. We only had to pay at the check out and they didn't charge anything from my credit card, which I find very positive.
Cons: The breakfast was ok. Small room to sit, a bit stacked together. Not easy to see and find everything to eat and drink. Breakfast was till 9:30 and the waitress started to clean at 9:00. I asked her if we had to leave, cause she was taking away the whole breakfast table. She looked very surprised and asked what I "still wanted to eat"....A bit uncomfortable... It was indeed a big room, a family room, which was very nice. However for a family with young children, not so comfortable. Steep chair, located directly on the upper floor, so quite dangerous. It was not easy to find a light switch. A very nice bath, unfortunately the whirlpool didn't work; perhaps it did, but again, we couldn't find it. No shower curtain or what so ever, meaning if you wanted to take a shower the whole bathroom would be wet. We slept in the "attic" and the bathroom door was not a standard door (height) so we bumped our heads quite some time. No mini bar, nor a bottle of water to welcome you, even the price of 1 night was €120,- ex breakfast and city tax....
Pros: Situated right next to a river, calm surroundings. The staff was very friendly and speaks English, German and French. Dinner is amazing, we can only recommend to eat there!
Cons: Some sort of warm eggs for breakfast would have been nice.
Pros: Location is perfect for bike touring. Restaurant is very good.
Cons: No WiFi in room, but good in common areas
Pros: Staff, location, classic French hotel, food was good, at a price.
Cons: Bathroom was positively dangerous as a tiled floor which inevitably got very wet. Bathroom fittings all a bit tired. Food very pricey, as was the wine. Food for three people and 1 bottle of wine was more than the room.
Pros: It‘s location and the lovely room with a balcony overlooking the river. Dinner was very good as well.
Pros: Excellent central location. Easy to get to with good secure parking
Cons: The air-con was insufficient to cool the room initially

Pros: Good location in the center of this little town. Offers off street parking. The owners appear to be struggling through difficult times, I wish them well.
Cons: A bit "down at heel", which is as much a feature of the town as of the hotel.
Pros: Great location Central to old town Nice rooms
Cons: My wife is vegetarian and dinner menu didn’t have sufficient veggie options.
Pros: Good position and good value. Food good, but only had 1 dinner. One staff were very accomodating; we could come and go as we pleased
Cons: The layout was uncomfortable with many things to trip over, There were no drawers for clean clothing. The lavatory seat had to be held up (OK for women)
Pros: In a convenient location for my needs.
Cons: It was a very hot night and my room was next to the main road which was very noisy. There were very noisy motorbikes speeding along the road all night.
Pros: Even though the restaurant was fully booked and another event out back the restaurant staff still managed to come up with a meal for me in the bar. Can't thank them enough !!

Pros: Good really exceptional home style breakfast. Looked after our bikes well. So friendly.
Pros: The car park.
Cons: Outdated, mould on the wall ..
Pros: Breakfast very good and value for money compared with other French hotels we've stayed in. We didn't eat there this time but have done so on previous occasions and its been great. Staff friendly and helpful
Cons: Wifi in our room wasn't very good
Pros: View of the Loire!!
Cons: Very small room. Breakfast mostly processed packaged food. Coffee and fresh oranges were good though.
Pros: Hotel is old and could definitely do with a spruce up but comfortable, warm, clean and perfect location for us but perfect for us.
Cons: Wifi not that great.
Pros: The breakfast.
Cons: It is the Cafe FiFi the sign for the hotel is down a lane behind the Cafe FiFi. It is part of Cafe FiFi. No working power plugs in bed room, Air Con in bedroom set permanently at very small cool. No internet in bedroom. Evening staff most unhelpful. Breakfast staff great.
With a stay at Hotel Le Merle Blanc in Digoin, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Basilique du Sacre-Coeur and Musée du Hiéron. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The rooms are pleasantly decorated.
Cons: Le Merle Blanc is situated on a main street with a lot of traffic. I had asked for a quiet room, so the put me in the basement. But, because the room was still very close to the street and there is not much in the form of insulation, it was still noisy. I waited a long time at the reception and the lady was not very friendly. Also Le Merle Blanc is quite far from the centre of Digoin, so you need a car or at least a bike. There is not a locked place for a bike.
Cons: The owner was a not very friendly... she established a no no no relationship, as a standard reply to our most basic requests... this is a losing approach, not only for the coming guest but also and mainly for the hotel owner ... she prefer 10 Euro more money on every topic at the risk of a much more valuable negative feedback .. unfortunately quite a short-minded vision, in my humble opinion
Pros: Friendly welcome... And quiet comfortable room
Pros: The host was friendly and helpful with directions
Cons: The owner sent the chef home at 7.50pm we booked at 7.40 and arrived at 8 after long day. We couldn't have any dinner even though hotel advertised restaurant. Ended up with McDonald's down the road. The room had no airco which we knew, I tried going to ask for a fan but everything was locked up. I even tried emailing and phoning the hotel from my room but no response. Was very disappointed
