Pros: I booked the Miami location by accident and the agent at the Fort Lauderdale office was excellent

Pros: They were kind enough to make a booking for me at Ace since they had overbooked, but then charged me $25 & couldn't tell me what it was for. Ace held $200 on my card as well as charged my card for the 5 day. I don't ever recall having this done before. Price was ok, but I didn't do my homework to know about FL tolls. Ace charged $10/day flat rate & made it seem like $16/day would be charged by the FL system who runs the tolls. They didn't explain it well enough so bit the bullet & paid $10/day.

Pros: Worst experience! Had a customer in front of me in line that was treated very badly. We came up to the counter and the employee was so rude we just turned around and walked out. Went across the street and rented from a different company. Do not use this company! Ps had to have proof of insurance to rent from them which no one in line had.

Pros: Nothing helpful
Cons: High pressure and misleading tactics to sell optional insurance, sunpass and pre-paid insurance. Optional insurance they pushed would have cost MORE than the original rental price.

Forced to pay a higher rate
Cons: When I arrived at the off airport location, I was told I needed to get the insurance or put $1000 on a credit card and show proof of my insurance from home (which I did not have with me) The added insurance affectively tripled the rate I had locked into. I also was given a FOUR DOOR Toyota, with a lot of dings on it instead of a small car - FIAT.

Pros: Nothing, this company should be banned from Kayak. They gave away my car and fined me for being half an hour past their hidden two hour pick up window.
Cons: Hidden in their "Miscellaneous" policies (you have to dig to find it) they state that you only have a two hour window to pick up your vehicle, so if you are late or have a flight delay they will cancel your rental and charge you $50 and give your car away as they did to us. Most companies give you 24hrs, so we thought nothing of the specific time that we would have to get the car. We were two and a half hours past our chosen time (partly because our flight times were changed by the airline) and our rental was canceled when we arrived to the airport shuttle. The shuttle driver had us contact Economy and Economy stood by their shady policy, said that I agreed to the policy when I booked on Kayak (though the policy was never explicitly stated in the booking), and they had no cars left. They nor Kayak made any attempts to help us get another car or resolve the situation. We ended up stranded, having to book with another company on the spot and paid double what we were planning. Regarding the $50 fee, they told me to call Kayak and so we did. After being on hold for a while with Kayak, I was forced to leave a message and received an email response deferring again to Economy's scammy terms, offering no assistance. It is upsetting to spend time, money, and aggravation when you are traveling and receive no help, all for a ridiculous policy that Kayak should not support, especially after hundreds of terrible reviews. Stop doing business with this rental company! I always liked Kayak but will bring my business elsewhere in the future.

Worst car rental ever
Cons: You may be wondering if you are in US or Cuba when dealing with this company. Late pickup and spent more than 1 hour to get the car. The car is damaged and they refused to change. Wait for this company to be out of business soon and the crappy employees to be out of job.

Cons: Company closed there office without even calling or emailing that they would be closed and I had to rent from another company the day I glee in which end up costing way more then the reservation I booked months earlier. I left s message and never got a call back

Pros: Car was fine.
Cons: They make you provide proof of insurance to avoid paying for their insurance. I have NEVER been asked to provide my insurance cards to rent a car before. Took 1.5 hours to pick up the car. Woman was friendly but their policies are ridiculous.

Terrible location/hidden fees
Cons: To get there you have to take a train to the rental car center and then go outside and wait for a shuttle. Then you get taken out to the middle of this industrial area to get the the vehicle. The office is tiny. Then they start to hit you with all the extra fees. If you want to use your own insurance coverage, they want a hold of your deductible amount. If you have a $1000 deductible, they want to hold that much money on your credit card. Or you can pay a daily fee of $9.99 to have them hold only $250. By the time I walked out and dealt with the entire adventure I wished I had just paid the money up front for enterprise or budget. And then to return the car good luck finding a gas station and then once you do good luck getting back to the office. Your gonna see parts of Miami they don't show on television.

Worst Rental Car Experience
Cons: My sister and I rented a car from Economy thinking we were getting a great deal. They up-charged us after we got there, saying we had to purchase the premium insurance, despite the fact that I had my own full coverage insurance. So the price was suppose to be about $100 dollars, but ended up being about $300. The worst part about it all was that we got a trashed car, the vehicle had a bad tire that was leaking air the whole time we had it. The leak was known about the moment we got in the car because it had the (!) symbol for low air. Mind you I didn't realize what it meant until later when the tire was almost completely flat and we had to go fill the tire up with air, and then the (!) sign was gone. The back seats and front seats were completely stained. Finally, the location was the car rental place is a few miles from the airport, it's not located with most of the other rental car places. So give yourself an extra hour to both pick up the car and drop it off because that's how long it will take to get to the location.

Loyal customer they always take care of me
Pros: The staff recognized me when i come from las vegas to their miami location, this is my 3rd time renting a car from them and they always treat me very well. I have not had any issues with them at all, also the shuttle drivers are great. Over all i will always consider Ontrac economy to be a great choice. Delgaax305@me.com

BUYER BEWARE: Hidden Fees + Cars Not As Advertised
Cons: The advertised car that I paid for was clearly a Mini convertible. I paid extra to get a convertible. When I got to the reservation desk, they said they did not have any convertibles or even any Minis, and offered me a standard Camry. That was pretty annoying. Worse, they then required I get their insurance which cost about $30/day. This nearly doubled the entire cost. I canceld my reservation, went across the street to another rental agency and got a better car for less.These guys are scammers.

Horrible Customer Service
Pros: The car itself was nice and in good condition and great on gas.
Cons: The customer service at Economy Rent A Car was less than desirable. Three times I've given my email address to them and have yet to receive anything back from them. Nothing was the actual price I was told through Kayak that we would pay on the internet. Tons of stuff in the "terms and service" that made it a rip off. I'm not happy at all with the experience I had.

Cons: This was the worst car I have every rented. It had dents on every fender and the seats were so stained that we put towels one them to sit on them. The dash had warning lights on as we left the parking lot and they said this was the only car that they had for us. I felt very unsafe ion this car. I took it to dealer to check it out even. I was very unhappy. They didn't seem to care. When we returned the car they made a big deal about checking the car out to see if it was in good condition. I laughed and said it wasn't when you gave it to me. You didn't care. I would never rent from this company again. My husband came a day later and was shocked at the condition of this rental car. And the fact that I reserved this car almost 3 months in advance makes me even more furious.

Beware the compulsory Insurance Charges and poor,
Pros: Nice little Jeep Renegade.
Cons: It took about an hour to pick up the car once we found our way to their very isolated premises. Just slow service and a few people in the line. The man behind the counter would not accept my insurance, nor the additional insurance that I purchased through a link on the Kayak site for $90' and insisted that I had to purchase insurance through his company for an additional $125. So far, I was out an additional $215, so he grudgingly gave me a discount of $25, so it ended up costing me $190 more than expected. On the first evening (Saturday), the key got stuck in the ignition and we could not get it out. The roadside assistance provided by Economy Rental was pleasant over the phone, but told us that the best they could do was refer us to a dealership, which would be open on Monday morning. I called Economy/Ontrac rental and left a message, but nobody called back. Fortunately, we were able to find a way to get the key to come out when it got stuck again, which happened repeatedly several times a day. All things considered, I would recommend avoiding this company, which goes by Economy or Ontrac rent a car. Hidden overcharges, poor service given in a surly manner and unreliable follow up service. It is a shame that people can continue in business when they provide such poor service. I am disappointed that Kayak continues to offer links to this company.

Cons: They had a hidden fee for their insurance and did not mention or offer for me to use my own full coverage insurance when I had it with me all along. Pushed me to purchase theirs for 25 dollars a day. Later when I brought this up to a manager he couldnt do anything about it. very shady. I ended up paying 38 dollars a day!! wayy too much.

Economy Rent a Car Cancels Reservation Without Not
Pros: There was absolutely nothing to like about my experience with this company. How and why they are even in business is beyond my comprehension.
Cons: I booked an on-line reservation for an automobile with this company three weeks before my arrival and received a confirmation. I arrive into Miami and finally hunt down the Economy Shuttle bus. The driver asks for my last name only to inform me that my reservation has been cancelled! How and why could this possibly be! I ask him to take me to their facility to straighten out this obvious error, and he refuses to even let onto the Shuttle bus! I am left standing on the curb with no explanation, no car, and now dangerously close to being late for my meeting. Now this is customer service!! Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere, there are plenty of decent alternatives.

Turn and run
Cons: Horrible experience from start to finish! We ended up paying double what we were expecting because of several hidden charges. The people are mean and unprofessional. Completely incompetent. Will not rent here ever again.

Cons: False advertisement and very fine print that was hidden from us prior to purchase. The check in took way too long, as we were looking to getting on the road to start our vacation. Only 1 person working the counter who did not inform us of an estimated wait time. They charge extra for EVERYTHING. They do not accept all insurances. Do not believe their prices, as we were told our price would be $81 for 4 days and it ended up being close to $250 (not including gas). Rip off. You're better off using a well established brand like Enterprise, Hertz or National and paying the extra few dollars.

Cons: Scam. We were fortunate enough to read fine print. Suck you into low cost then tack on additional insurance costs, even though your own insurance would cover losses. Require you to have insurance card AND policy pages showing exact coverage. Even obtaining on phone through agent was not enough. They want a copy. On pick up and drop off EVERY CUSTOMER IN OFFICE VERY ANGRY!! Terrible!!

Choose another rental company!
Pros: The price, which turned out too good to be true.
Cons: There were so many things not to like. 1. It's off-site from the airport. We had to wait more than 1/2 hour for a shuttle. 2. After a 10-minute shuttle ride, we arrived at the business, which was no bigger than a 2-car garage. 3. Only 2 employees were working; we waited another 40 minutes to be helped (there were only 2 parties ahead of us, so apparently the employees give a lot of attention and time to whomever they are helping). 4. Once helped, the employee insisted I had to produce my ACTUAL INSURANCE CARD, not a photograph I had taken of it earlier that day. Without the actual insurance card, he intended to charge me $20-$50/per day additional for the rental. 5. He insisted this was in the terms, although I never saw that term (despite reading the terms) and have never had to produce proof of insurance for dozens of other car rentals in other locations. 6. Ultimately I asked to be returned to the airport and chose another company. I recommend the Family car rental (next to Enterprise). They weren't able to match the online deal, but they came the closest, and the employee was friendly and helpful. AND I didn't have to show proof of insurance ... not even the photograph I had taken earlier that morning. 7. The only good thing about the experience is that my Visa card was not actually charged for the Economy car rental.

Was penalized for late pickup
Cons: I arrived to the rental car facility later than expected, since my flight had been delayed by 4 hours. When I arrived I was told my car reservation had been canceled after 2 hours and I would have to make a new reservation even though the car was still physically there. The new reservation was twice as expensive even thought I would actually have the car for less time! I was not offered any other option, and another rental company was not an option for me as I was running late. I ended up having to take the car I had already reserved at twice the cost. Total SCAM! I expect someone to contact me to remedy this situation, and reimburse me for addition cost and time wasted. I will be filing a complaint with the better business bureau.

Pros: I got a good rate on the Internet for the car I rented.
Cons: The rental agreement specifically stated that mileage was unlimited but reservation agent said that didn't matter, I would still be charged. The Toyota Camry I was given had unsafe brakes. They accelerated the car when pressed.

Unclear operating hours
Cons: While both the agent and the website said they're open for 24 hours, when we came back to the shop to return the car, it was closed and no one answered phone. It didn't connect to voice mail, and there was no other phone line and we could not do anything while we needed to get the flight soon.

Forced to buy LDW Insurance
Cons: Forced to buy LDW insurance that cost me $100 when I'm already covered in a rental car...total SCAM...I'm very disappointed that I was not aware of this before I showed up at the counter to get my car.

Stay with the on-site rental companies
Cons: Pretty disappointed with the add-ons when we picked up the car. I fell for the ad of $17/day. Should have known that was too good to be true! My estimated $85 rate ballooned to $250!! The location was miserable! The transport van brought us to a remote location intermingled among marinas and car shops; we knew locating them at return time would be a hassle, and it was that and more! The detour led us on a wild goose chase. Took us 45 minutes longer than expected to locate them (no gps in car), and to ensure we wouldn't miss our flight, we paid for a cab to get us to the airport rather than wait for their van. Never again...Avoid avoid avoid this one!

DO NOT USE!!
Cons: If I could give zero I would. I called 2 weeks in advance to make sure everything would be easy when I got to the airport to pick up my car, except ALL of the info I was given was incorrect. I was told to call for a shuttle. When I did so I was told that I had to be in a different area to get the shuttle. By the time I made it there I was a few minutes past the hour deadline and my reservation was cancelled, even though I had called within the hour originally! The service was atrocious. I ended up renting from a different company at the airport. Found out later they charged me $50 for cancelling my reservation. I called the corporate line to register my complaint but was told I'd have to send an email. Clearly they do not care about their rating. If I had the time I would tweet, start a blog, scream repeatedly into the void of the internet that no one under any circumstances should ever use this company. But I'm busy. Just stay away from them for your own good. It's even soured how I feel toward Kayak.

Bad pick up/ drop off rude people
Pros: The car was nice, new and clean.
Cons: The pick up, drop off service was terrible and the staff was rude. The place was not professional or set up to handle more than 2 people renting cars at once.

Poor and unprofessional
Pros: Prices were not as they appeared and sent on a confirmation. Lots of extra fees were added. I had to call for the airport shuttle because it never came. When it did arrive it said AVenta on the side with economy at the back very small. Very hard to recognize. All the signs at the office said AVenta as well. The address given on my confirmation was incorrect for returning the car. It took an extremely long Time to pick up the car. Neither of their printers were working. They had to go in the back to get my contract to print. They asked for an extreme amount of details and paperwork to prove it if you do not accept their insurance and preferred to use your own. None of this was explained when renting the car online and I was not prepared with the proper documents that they required. No other rental place that I've ever used has asked me for papers from my insurance company. I will never use this company again.
