The grounds were beautiful
The bathrooms were not user friendly. To close the door was a sliding door that was loud and difficult to open and close. The shower water leaked into the toilet area. Toilets didn’t flush properly.
Varied breakfast buffet - all great quality and frequently replenished/refreshed. Great selection of in-house restaurants (Anthos is particularly impressive) and also an easy stroll down to a local fishing village for more casual dinner options. The staff were incredibly friendly and very professional - they made us feel very welcome and treated us so well. The rooms were very elegant and low key while still being very luxurious. The private plunge pool on our balcony was great fun - such a great way to wake up in the morning and the views over the bay were beautiful. Would go back in a heartbeat!
It would have been helpful if there was slightly better signposting around the resort - we preferred to walk up and down to the beach rather than getting the funicular and it took us a while to get our bearings on the first day (and we both have rather a good sense of direction normally!). I was also slightly surprised at the approach to sustainability (or the lack thereof). For example all the complimentary items in the bathrooms were wrapped in plastic, plastic straws were used at the bars and both still and sparkling water was bottled (rather than using the reusable glass bottle filtration system which a lot of hotels/resorts and restaurants now use). But otherwise everything was pretty perfect!
The beach and service were amazing!
The wi fi in the room was very weak!
Everything was perfect! Really appreciate my staying at that hotel. The staff were very polite and helpful. The premises were incredibly well situated with astonishing views! I would love to get backs next summer.
We loved the view over Spinalonga - you can easily spend a week not doing much else but lying on the beach and watching the boats come to and from the island. The proximity to Plaka was great - it is a really lovely Greek village with plenty of good restaurants and a few bars and far nicer than the nearby Elounda which we didn't like much. The private beach is fab and the staff were very attentive and the pools are lovely and well kept and huge!!!). The restaurants at the hotel are all good quality, and the spa is good. Breakfast is great, and room service was always top notch. I'd recommend hiring a car - the transfers are pricey and having a car whilst you are there would be useful as it's the only real way to explore the island.
I thought the hotel would offer more, given the price. We paid a lot of money to stay here for a week and I thought there might be better facilities included for this. Water sports and exercise classes are an additional cost and in my view a boat to Spinalonga should simply be a daily option for hotel guests included in the price (it's not, it's actually super pricey and much cheaper to catch from Plaka). I was pretty disappointed about the value for money overall, having stayed in other hotels at a similar level which had a lot more inclusive activities and perks which make all the difference. Also, the rooms are described as "bungalows" which they are not (they are hotel rooms with people in surrounding rooms above and below) and the orientation of the rooms (North) means that they don't get much sun during the day so the private pool is freezing if you don't stretch to a heated one, and you would only realistically enjoy it until around 11am before it's shaded for the rest of the day, so as a tip I don't think it's worth paying so much more for a pool.
Endless views, crystal clear waters and a host of cultural and gastronomical experiences await guests at Blue Palace, a Luxury Collection Resort and Spa. Spend a day exploring the beauty of the island with its old villages, wineries and the ancient Palace of Knossos or simply enjoy a leisurely dip in the crystal blue waters of our magnificent private beach. Discover unique dining experiences within five restaurants and select from a variety of exquisite Mediterranean dishes, traditional Greek specialties and cuisine with an international flair. Nourish body and soul with a signature treatment or just indulge in your own private pool, while rejoicing in a landscape of breathtaking beauty.
