9.2 Excellent
Pros: A cute traditional hotel with friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Availability of spa and jacuzzi was not informed upon check in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were polite, helpful and the place was lovely. Our room was big and comfortable, and the price was very good for a group of four doing the Haute Route. Highly recommend!
Cons: Nothing, it's all positive
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly (family run) hotel. The hotel is of modest size which means they can more easily accommodate you. Our room (a family size as we where 3 in party) was of a comfortable size, very clean and recently renovated. The hotel restaurant (where we ate diner and breakfast) is really very good, they have a great chef. We especially liked the sauna and Jacuzzi which you can reserve for your exclusive use.
Cons: Perhaps the lighting in the restaurant could be a bit more "cozy".
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Claudia and her son Danny were the perfect hosts from the moment I stepped in. We were a group of 6 with 3 rooms and we had the floor to ourselves with jacuzzi, and sauna. Food was fabulous, raqlette, fish, pasta... All of it and breakfast was generous. We loved Claudia's accodian playing and singing. The whole experience was genuine and superb.
Cons: Nothing. Everything was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Claudia and her family are fantastic hosts!
Cons: Due to some error with our booking we had to accept a small room which was somewhat inconvenient.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I thoroughly enjoyed Claudia’s warm welcome, the researched, harmonized and beautiful decoration, as well as the delicious food - all this in a breathtaking area where so many things can be done even if you don’t ski. Nights are very quiet, because the Church’s bells stop ringing at night on the one hand, and because it is kindly requested to prevent from making noise after 10:00pm: the perfect place to be!
Cons: Beware if you are disabled: there is no lift - that said 1) Claudia grabbed my case before I knew it and 2) there are only two floors.... :-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything - location, staff, breakfast, special dinner in costumes Dany was awesome and super helpful. Thank you Dany! You are our best memory of Switzerland.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable. Friendly and welcoming. Great tv on cable. Food excellent. Jacuzzi.
Cons: Did not have a balcony. Perhaps I could have checked this before booking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly, helpful, accommodating and entertaining.
Cons: There is nothing bad to say about the property.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super comfortable hotel with great view. We all loved it and plan to have family vacation again in future. Dinner and breakfast are great too.
Cons: None
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was old, yet well-maintained. The rooms were decent, nothing fancy and not particularly large. We were only there for one night, doing the walker’s haute route, which goes right through the town of La Sage. We did not need a large room, just something cozy, quiet and well-located, which this was. We loved th dining room and the “Salon” which looked over the town. The Salon was a mix of antiques and modern, filled with books in various languages and board games. It would have been a most fun place to sit and relax had we had the time. Outside sitting places were ample and well-placed.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent chef, lovely staff.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was fantastic. Amazing views from all parts of the hotel including our room. Gorgeous reading room with tasteful furnishings. Friendly staff. Delicious food.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent dinner and breakfast. Great bathroom. The floor in the room sloped, had character but was lovely.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent Hotel! The views are spectacular!
Cons: Patio, room and a wonderful lounge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Library was great. Food was delicious. Staff were wonderful. Rooms were a bit small and dark but they were charming and you’re meant to enjoy the library!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A lovely gem of a hotel on the Haute Route hiking trail. A real pleasure to stay here. The best thing about it was the set meal, you should definitely get this! It was fab, tasty and well presented. The staff were all very friendly and happy. The room was comfortable. Great bathroom. Washing lines available outside around the side of the building so you could dry your hiking stuff in the sun after giving it a handwash. Le Sage is a really pretty little village :) Also right on the path of the Haute Route.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The price of CHF 235.00 per night for a double room is to high. No TV in room. No water free of charge...
Cons: No TV. Breakfast rather poor.

Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Room was very nice and comfortable. Very clean and tidy. Although language problem they were very helpful. Dinner at the restuarant was good.
Cons: For me the matress was too soft, wc and shower very small. There was a misunderstanding about my breakfast. They prepared it for me in a small room thinking i will leave early but I did not. Still, ate alone in that room. I am sure it was because I do not speak French. If you have big bag - no elevator, staircase very narrow.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in one of those typical tall chalets that we can see in wonderful Val d'Herens.
Cons: nothing, really

Cons: We liked everything!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location in the center of the small village but still very quiet. I was welcomed freindly and got a very nice room with balcony , nice bathroom and coffee machine. There is a small minimarket at the hotel , very convinient if you are hiking. Breakfast was good and has various options. For single use was a bit expensive but for a couple it is good value for money too.
Cons: Nothing at all!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Arolla is a beautiful, charming town and our room had some beautiful views of the town and glacier beyond. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The family room we were given had a huge loft area for my son with sofas and desk. The food in the restaurant was excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Decor a bit dated, but large room, very comfortable, nice bathroom.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very simple room but clean with all facilities .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was great, service was excellent very friendly and helpful. Great place from some much need shower and rest.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice location, friendly staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful large modern room with its own lounge area Fantastic facilities Great breakfast Great staff
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hostess was very charming, and my room on the top floor with a sitting room and balcony was luxurious. The breakfast was very good. The restaurant served a great green salad, and the fries were very good.
Cons: There was a slight amount of mold in the shower, unexpected in a room of this quality. I expect the hotel will bleach and paint this over soon. The restaurant served a Croute au Fromage that needed a more flavorful Cheese, and more of it. Their hamburger was serviceable, perhaps needing mayo or more catsup.

Pros: The propert appears To be very old and has a lot of character. It was in the middle of the village.
Cons: The floor squeaked and was not level.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A true period gem. Go to Eveolene and stop at this hotel, you won’t be disappointed with either. A fantastic place with such friendly owners, wish we could have stopped longer
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location, friendliness of hotel owner, lovely village setting, ambience and access to beautiful alpine locations.
Cons: If there is a single score less than 100% it was perhaps the breakfast which lacked variety and a wider range. We weren't looking for 5 star and this isn't a complaint but maybe just one area so hotel receives 100% for everything!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a nice stay! I stayed in the historic level, and it was great! The bathroom was very nice and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and more than accommodating. There is also a comfortable hangout room downstairs with a bar. Great stay!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: breakfast was delicious and done well.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: In my Opinion it is Time to reinvest in the Hotel
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Traditional old fashioned Swiss decor was a delight. Comfortable with lovely friendly staff. Breakfast was a pleasure too.
Cons: Can’t think of anything.

Pros: Great old style accommodation in a yesteryear hotel of great character. In the same family for four generations - aiming to keep up with modern development.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind
10.0 Excellent

C$ 27+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Pension du Lac Bleu in Evolene, you'll be 0.5 mi (0.8 km) from Blue Lake and 20.5 mi (33 km) from Four Valleys Ski Area.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: An excellent experience! Me and my partner stayed for a night in March with our pet dog. Dinner at the restaurant was terrific, they even cooked us a custom Vegan meal and made an effort to get some vegan cheese for breakfast from the town specially for us. The staff were amazingly friendly and let us hang out at the bar in the evening with our dog. A great place to start a winter hike, a beautiful trail to Lac Bleu starts right behind the hotel, we took the 40minute walk before dinner in the beautiful winter wonderland. We do recomend and hope we can come back again!
Cons: As others have indicated, the floors are loud, but everything else was so great, that we weren't too bothered
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Super nice atmosphere and friendly staff !
7.9 Good
Pros: I wasn't expecting any good food but it was very nice actually. Not many choices but there are substncial big salads, burger(vegetarians one as well) and several other options. In the dormitory room it was mountain hut style. There are a blanket and a pillow provided to each bed but you will need to bring own linens.
Cons: In case of bad weather the inside restaurant space will be very crowded since it is very small.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was friendly and near the bus stop
Cons: Wifi was slow, but expected in mountain area
7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely staff , beautiful food, amazing fresh bread at bfast
Cons: Lots of creaking at night with old floor boards
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice place to stop for a hiking rest day or for food and wine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful spot, nice staff, comfy bed, original chalet charm
5.8 Okay
Pros: The mountain view from the hotel was absolutely gorgeous! Also, the staff were friendly.
Cons: I should have done more research on the area. I wanted to go to Zermatt, but this hotel was almost a two hour drive away. This hotel comes with NO TOILETRIES whatsoever. No soap in bathroom either, for that matter.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The bed was really comfy and had a lovely feather duvet! The staff were really friendly and the restaurant downstairs was great - they had an excellent selection of local craft beers as well!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Doing the Walker's Haute route I found this pension super cute. I welcomed warm showers and the kindness of the staff.
Grand Hotel & Kurhaus - Evolène - Building

6.3 Good
Pros: My room was basic but comfortable. It had a beautiful view on the mountains and the forest and I enjoyed the complete silence and quietness at night! The room was clean except the wooden floor that was a bit dusty. During the weekend, the hotel was full and very busy as there was a "books festival" on the premises during 4 days. Apparently the hotel has been taken over recently by new management and staff so it was a bit disorganized... On Saturday evening, during dinner, there was some tension between some members of staff and clients of the hotel. I also experienced some disagreement the next day with one member of staff (her name is Rachel) who brought me the wrong dish for dinner and she was annoyed as I would not have it.... For the rest of the evening she became so rude, throwing my coffee on the table that my friends were shocked! As we left and made remarks about her behaviour a supervisor came to apologize as he overheard the way this waitress was talking to us. Thank you Guillaume. Unfortunately until problems of this kind are sorted the hotel is going to loose a lot of customers... Me and my friends (who have been coming for years) included ! It is a shame as it is a beautiful place.
Cons: The staff is new and not very organized and the attitude of one of the waitress in particular was quite rude.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I love the place, I love the team. Getting onto the slopes immediately is a huge plus. I've come back many, many times!
Cons: that I had to leave...
7.5 Good
Pros: Clean, great staff and amazing views.
Cons: The restaurant food is pretty average but the breakfast was good.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Cost performance. Breakfast. Unusual to swiss style breakfast there were scrambled eggs and bacons .
Cons: This is not about hotel but the village shop has only minimum stock. If you are walking long-distance trail it is better to stock up your food somewhere else.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fab view from our 2nd floor room at the front of the hotel. Played three frames on the pool table. Lounging in the sun on the lawn in front of the hotel. String ensemble playing in the lounge when we were checking in. Sitting reading English language books in the lounge listening to the Keane 'best of' the hotel had chosen to play. Cold beers. Buffet breakfast best so far on the Haute route.
Cons: Like every other Swiss hotel I've stayed in there is no kettle in the room. Also my partner borrowed a hairdryer from reception. No TV in room - not an issue for me, but maybe someone might want one.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is amazing. The setting is lovely, but it is the cozy interior and food (dinner and breakfast) that sets it apart. Excellent value for money.
6.3 Good
Pros: Good size room and bathroom, nice backyard and a good location if you are doing the Haute Route, the trail goes directly to the hotel. Good breakfast with a wide variety of choice included.
Cons: Although the hotel restaurant is nice and the food is ok, the employees working at the restaurant are the most unfriendly people I have ever met while staying at a hotel. Asked for an English menu, the only answer was a "no", so we had to use google translate, as the lady was to"busy" to to help us. Ordered different things (e.g. water, extra portion of fries) and for some we needed to remind the lady several times before she remembered to bring them, while others like the fries were brought after we finished. You felt like they were doing you a great favor for serving you, such poor service....
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The outdoor terrace area was perfect after hiking!
6.7 Good
Pros: Scenery, quietness
Cons: Not central located, late breakfast. Not recommended for trekking, internet was not available at top floor.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic views and over the valley from the garden. A place with real character.
Cons: For the price paid the towels could have been better quality and the bin in the room was broken.
Hôtel Aiguille De La Tza - Evolène - Building
8
8.5 Excellent (202 reviews)
C$ 126+
Overview Reviews
Located in Evolene, Hôtel Aiguille de La Tza is within a 5-minute drive of Les Fontanesses 1 Ski Lift and Blue Lake. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly hosts, booked a bed and had the room to myself, toilets and showers were really clean, lots of natural light and ventilation. Building has some traditional charm.
Cons: The location is not very central, and could be easily confused with the hotel next door with the same name.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Stayed in 4 bed dormitory accommodation (4 friends travelling together) so more private than large dorm setting. On site restaurant and food was excellent, busy and buzzing.
Cons: Approx 15 mins out of town centre but only a 5 min walk down a foot path avoiding the road.
7.9 Good
Pros: Good place to stay for the Haute route. It is a little way down from Arolla so you do need to walk back up the hill again to rejoin the trail. I went towards the end of the season so i had a 4 bed dorm to myself which was lovely!
Cons: Everything was fine
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice stay! Great location along the haute route. Great pizza and beer for a good price as well. Nice atmosphere downstairs. Beds were not as comfy, however the people and food more then compensated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved this property! Very quaint and clean!
Cons: Paid 15 chf for breakfast and there was a big group of kids before us so barely any food left and they didn’t replenish it.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Being out of the town, the location next to the river was idyllic, the rooms and views are outstanding.
7.9 Good
Pros: Family owned and operated, the dining room and restaurant were very nice; the food delicious. Our room on the top floor was renovated several years ago- first class with radiant heat & a 2 person tub. The two floors below have their own character with older rooms or a dormitory style arrangement, with the wooden floors slanted due to the building settling over the past 100 years.
Cons: The location is about 300' in elevation below, and about 1/3 of a mile by foot trail (longer by car), from the center of the small village of Arolla. We were hiking The Hiker's Haute Route and after a long day of hiking the extra descent was a surprise. For us it was not easy to walk back into town for dinner! But dinner at Aiguille de la Tza was authentic and delicious- no need to walk back into the village to eat at another hotel's restaurant.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The salad and bircher museli were very good.
Cons: It was more like a hostel than a hotel with hotel prices. The rooms are very small. The 2 week limit on cancellation seems unreasonable.

5.4 Okay
Pros: Location was perfect and very friendly staff
Cons: The room wasn't very clean (you couldn't understand if the sheets were clean or not because they were not white).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to pubs and restaurants, middle of vallee
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great value, comfortable room, charming feel, helpful staff, and located directly in the center of town. Solid spot to spend a night while hiking the Haute Route
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very kind and helpful.
4.2 Okay
Pros: There was no one there when we arrived. The heating was off and it had been sleeting / snowing on and off throughout the day. The room had a terrible smell of sewer and there was an empty packet of cigarettes and a dirty sock in the drawer.
Cons: See above....
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff, really helpful, we needed very early breakfast to start a hike and the hotel staff we really helpful and made our breakfast an hour earlier than normal.
Cons: Shower head fitting is at waist height
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing except that it provided us a roof for the night before we moved along on our Alpine adventure.
Cons: Everything. But the worst was the condition of disrepair of the property and the lack cleanliness. The attendant at the front desk gave us a pillow that he grabbed from a room next door that was badly stained and he had to go locate a pillow I case before I told him that I would do without a pillow for the night We slept in our sleeping bags for fear of bedbugs. The owner of the property with we checked out was barely talkative if not downright cold.
7.5 Good
Pros: -Clean bed pillow, duvet and mattress -Excellent location -A water boiler in room
Cons: -Expensive. -Hotel needs renovation especially the old bathroom -In room there is no TV, hair dryer, or mini bar. -WiFi is very slow
5.4 Okay
Pros: The staff was very kind and helpful. The location.
Cons: The room that smelled unclean and especially the bathroom that was old and dirty. The bathroom definitely needs to be renewed.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Helpful reception lady, thank you. Great central location, bus stops outside. Lots if character, squeaky floorboards!
Cons: Nothing really.
