9.2 Excellent
Pros: Really friendly staff. We had a change of plan very late at night at short notice and added an extra night. The staff were very helpful, and allowed us to stay in the same room instead of checking out and back in again.
Cons: Quite a lot of noise at closing time from the staff and patrons at La Brasserie next door, but usually only for a short time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: great location, very easy to find and close to town . Restaurants and shops close by.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: N/A
Cons: The shower holder in my room was broken.
7.0 Good
Pros: We know this hotel and like it's convenience and the staff.
Cons: We paid twice for our stay, so not happy about that. Hope we do not have a problem getting a refund? We had paid online but when we arrived the girl at reception did not seem to know we had paid and asked for it again. We assumed the payment had not gone through because the machine was faulty when we put in our details. Please can booking.com for this out for us? Quite unhappy about this.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The stuff
Cons: Air conditioning was not enough
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It’s good value, convenient for some shops, clean and great staff. The Cockpit restaurant next door is a really good place to eat if you want a good value family type meal - much better food than the nearby Buffalo Grill and it has a salad bar, dessert bar, and they serve alcohol. Gemo and Orchestra, Conforama, McDonalds, la mie caline and a garden centre are all in easy walking distance and the market town is an easy drive. Windows can be fully opened or locked ajar if you want fresh air. Breakfast has improved a lot since it was an etap. Downside are the mainly hard as rock beds, meagre pillows, and handkerchief size towels. Travel with an extra towel unless you are very petite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: All good, which is why we stayed a second night. This first night was lovely and very comfortable. There is a restaurant next door and a Buffalo restaurant and a Macdonald's restaurant nearby. Great location.
Cons: Large nice spacious room for this first night. Very comfortable and lovely location.
6.3 Good
Pros: Sink blocked, room too small, shower positioned wrong, basically your hair is getting wet whether you like it or not!
Cons: I stayed 2 nights, the first night was great, the room was lovely, new and spacious, and the second night the room was small and older and the shower was positioned badly and the sink was blocked. So the new lovely room I would give 10, the older room I would give 5. The location is great though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was great and the hotel was in a very convenient location. The staff were exceptional.
Cons: Nothing

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The receptionist was very helpful, she wasn't fazed that my booking didn't show on the recently changed system and assured me there was a room for me. Her English was a, godsend! She also did the duties of chef, waitress and landlord - a lot of roles for (l suspect) not enough pay. The room was a good size and very clean though the lino 'carpet' is a, questionable choice of flooring. The accessories were chic and fun. The bedside table was a bit squeaky and wobbly and one bedside lamp didn't work. Not deal-breakers to me. The bed was, so comfortable l overslept! Good experience. Thanks to all the staff for their evident hard work.
Cons: Whoops - see, above.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable, nice and clean. Staff is helpful and dinner was good as well.
6.7 Good
Pros: Clean and bright room. Bathroom good size.
Cons: No refreshment facility in room.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Modern clean hotel, very good location and friendly staff.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was sufficient, simple and quick. The fresh orange juice was a good touch. The location was tricky to find by sat nav, but was easy to solve as I knew it was by the train station
Cons: A carpet in the bedroom would have made the feel of the room warmer.
7.1 Good
Pros: Quiet location bright and new comfortable bed. Good breakfast pleasant staff at reception
Cons: No restaurant but snacks provided. It would be better not to supply snacks as what we chose from the menu was very poor indeed. Tasteless Pre made food reheated - I had rice stuffed tomato which was ghastly - husband had veg soup obviously from a tin
9.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a great place. Very modern and eco friendly.

6.3 Good
Pros: Location and parking
Cons: It smelt a bit funny and was quite dated.
6.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was excellent. Information given by the hotel in the event of a late arrival was comprehensive. Temperature of the room was good.
Cons: For 2 people in a double room, 1 small and 1 shower towel is not adequate. Neither is 1 tooth cup. Also, the mattress needs replacing, it threw us to the middle of the bed.
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice staff, good location with private parking
Cons: No restaurant, fittings a bit tired
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very warm hosts.
6.7 Good
Pros: Hotel is down town near good restaurants. Calm an quiet with free parking. Rooms are simple and clean, with flat TV and good bed
Cons: Staff is not competent, clearly don't care about your wishes for exemple an 7 o'clock breakfast on saturday morning instead of 8h30 for several guests. The strong burnt smell in the room floating all the night long!
6.7 Good
Pros: OK
Cons: No one was there to meet us !! Security let us in to reception, and just walked off, leaving us stood there at 11.00pm at night with 2 ten year olds !"!!! Reception argued for 10 minutes that we had not prepaid until we insisted they call the manager, who they phoned and we were then told it was paid !
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Quiet location yet close to market and chateau. Very good breakfast.
Cons: Shower was above a bathtub rather than a proper standalone shower. The wardrobe was too shallow to hang clothes in for drying overnight, and the coat hangers were the sort that would only work in the wardrobe.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The food was ok but it would have been a more pleasent experience if there had been windows in the room.
Cons: We found that the room was very cold on our arrival so the first night we put the heating on, But when we got in after our second day out visiting the area the heating was off and the room was very cold again. This time the heater would not work at all. We did not have a comfortable nights sleep as we were all cold. We did tell the staff in the morning and she came and had a look and agreed that the heater did not work. On arrival we were asked if any breakfasts were required and we said just 2 as our friend is a Vegan and just eats fruit. When the bill was settled we had been charged for 3 breakfasts on both mornings, on the second morning our friend did join us but she had very little to eat.

6.0 Good
Pros: Good central location so near restaurants and shops Recently decorated Shower hot

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The beds were comfortable
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Bed extremely comfy . Very clean rooms linen and towels. Restaurant food quality very good.
Cons: No kettle in room . No window in bathroom nor fan system so initially the bathroom had a terrible aroma - this cleared when we left the door open and the two bedroom windows wide open. Towels are more hand towel size than bath sheets.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was very good for the town centre and free parking was easy to find. Very good value for money.
Cons: Sadly the restaurant was shut the day we arrived but ate there the following night and the food was lovely. Room was a little small but warm and good value for money.
6.3 Good
Pros: Breakfast poor, worst coffee in Europe we have struck. No variety
Cons: Some friendliness from the staff who were non-welcoming I guess because they assumed we were English. Totally non-responsive and couldn't or wouldn't speak any English. Rooms very hot at night and a lot of road noise till the early hours. Made sleeping a non-event.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly helpful staff, great location in town-very good value.
4.8 Okay
Pros:
Cons: Our double room had only one mug, coffee and sugar packet, not "a welcome tray" as advertised. Noisy radiator kept us awake. En suite in a cupboard, could not sit on toilet unless the door open wide. Parking very limited, Rubbish and recycling bags piled up at entrance way.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Bed comfortable and huge. Loved the breakfast. Loved my view. Great town and location. Truly idyllic. A nice break. Went to Falaise 45 minutes away. Charming and pastoral. Hôtel staff helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious. Pool warm and jacuzzi nice. Sparkling clean spa area. Loved the little lake and woodsy trails. Thank you and we'll be back.
Cons: I felt like second class since I hadn't bought spa services so when I used the lovely pool and sauna I had no robe or slippers. It was a bit cheap not to offer a bathrobe and slippers in the room. Pillows could have been better. Gluten free bread would have been nice at breakfast.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: The receptionist and dining room staff were rude arrogant and very unhelpful-it completely spoiled our stay

Overview Reviews
See hotel page Le Manoir du Lys, The Originals Relais is situated in the Normandy-Maine Regional Nature Park, benefitting from an ideal environment. The Quinton and Lebailly families, who run it, have transformed this hunting lodge into an authentic haven of peace. They cultivate a unique art of living and a taste for excellence. The 23 rooms, 7 suites and Michelin-starred restaurant are all a reflection of this. A charming place to stay, nestled at the heart of Normandy.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The location.
Cons: For a Relais de Silence this was noisy, 6am delivery outside my window. The beautiful bar, much featured in their advertising, was booked to a private function of wine tasting. Offered a corner of the foyer to have a pre dinner drink in. The room was cold.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We have never been to this area before and were very surprised at the charm of the surrounding picturesque village and beautiful woodland area. The hotel was a great find very welcoming and lovely to have a heated pool on a 36c day. Set in a forest area the hotel is very charming with nice staff. We will definitely return.
Cons: Staff were very friendly but there was a shortage of them, so we had to go and find them for service.
6.7 Good
Pros: The setting , the gardens and the pool.
Cons: Huge very pretty bathroom but nearly useless cause no hot water. The staff did what they could to help and eventually assigned us another bathroom in another building, which was.nice but kind of defeats the purpose, of having the bathroom ensuite... The management on the other hand were merely apolegetic and did not seem to be that bothered. In a 4* hotel this is hardly understandable and we would have expected a commercial gesture. Too bad. We won t come back.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is not new, but everything is in good condition. The best part is the restaurant — degustation menu and wine pairing is a must — it was incredible and fantastic experience thanks to chief and sommelier.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful gardens with both indoor and outdoor swimming pools. We stayed in a wooden lodge which was a good size, it was clean with great bathroom and Shower. We had some amazing meals in the restaurant, really fantastic food. The staff were very welcoming and friendly.
Cons: There really isn’t much around in the surrounding area, which we noticed more due to the poor weather!! Not that this has anything to do with the hotel - But we would have enjoyed it a lot more if there was some more sun but coming from the netherlands we are used to the rain!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: genuinely friendly personal; excellent restaurant all about wild mushrooms and picking them in the woods; the whole hotel is breathing mushrooms; the surrounding wood forêt domaniale des Andaines is wonderfull and full of different mushrooms
Cons: the indoor swimming pool is too small and looks a bit shabby, but in summertime you can use the outdoor one, which is somewhat bigger; we expected some wellness (sauna) but it was not (yet)there; they told us they are working on that; the restaurant, although serving excellent food, is expensive. It looks like they might going for a Michel star. the woods surrounding the hotel are private property (where you're not supposed to enter), so that you need to drive a bit to the forêt domaniale for walks (just a few km)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location facilities
6.7 Good
Pros: It was okay
Cons: Unsecured parking and restaurant was booked out

4.2 Okay
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Owner was not helpful at all, in fact she was very rude. No Airconditioning in the rooms but advertised they had, when questioned we were told to open the window. Beds very small and shower even smaller. Didn’t bother with breakfast after all that had happened.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We chose this hotel for our last night in Normandy and we were so happy with it that regretted not staying longer there. The hotel is lovely as the owner is. Having lovely breakfast with views to the back garden and the sun warming us up was really pleasant. An extremely comfortable bed, clean, tidy and organised with a lot of care made our last night a special one.
Cons: Leaving next day.
7.1 Good
Pros: We stayed here for 2nights last week. The room was a lovely size and very clean. The breakfast was a bit poor compared to others that we have stayed at. We didn’t eat here on an evening as it didn’t look as though the restaurant was open.
Cons: Poor breakfast and no restaurant open.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location 10 min walk from town, excellent private parking, friendly staff
Cons: Lift a bit small, garden abit scruffy
7.9 Good
Pros: It's a little bit out of the centre of town but that suited us as we had a wedding nearby. Plenty of parking in the yard and a pretty traditional family run hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location, very calm and spotlessly clean. Staff were very welcoming, stayed an extra night , beautiful hotel .
Cons: Nothing to dislike here
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good parking and easy walk to restaurants.
Cons: Breakfast was a little disappointing.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The lift was much appreciated although the steps up to the hotel would make it difficult for people with disabilities.
Cons: The shower was the worst I've come across in France. A tiny corner cubicle and the water came out without any real power. The food and wine were disappointing.
7.1 Good
Pros: As we said the rooms , location etc. are fine. Local restaurants are very good and having shops and a market nearby were positives.
Cons: It's sad to see a Hotel that is struggling. The rooms and hallways were fine , in fact the internal structure generally but the outside needs upkeep badly. The breakfast was not good value at 11 Euros and it was upsetting to see anyone later for Breakfast have little choice. Sorry we loved the area but not the Hotel.
7.5 Good
Pros: The old style accommodation, the welcome and the helpful staff.
Cons: No tea or coffee facilities in the room.

6.3 Good
Pros: Price location useful breakfast
Cons: Outside looks , no staff at site
7.5 Good
Pros: all in all it is a good hotel
Cons: really? 10€ for a breakfast? wouldn't be 8€ enough? even with ham and cheese?
7.9 Good
Pros: Lovely grounds where I was able to exercise my dog. and a restaurant at the hotel next door (which is owned by the same people who run the Gite de Relais St Michel).
Cons: With the shutters closed, the room was too hot even after closing the radiators and keeping the window open. The shutters needed to be closed to keep out traffic noise. An option for a room on a lower level would have been greatly appreciated for my husband who uses crutches and our elderly dog.
4.2 Okay
Pros: We liked the Grill Restaurant
Cons: Rooms were old and tired and tiny old towels
10.0 Excellent
Cons: That we were on 2 floor with 2 dogs ground floor would have been better
5.4 Okay
Pros: The restaurant was nice unfortunately they didn’t have many staffs and the service was slow
Cons: A double and a twin room had been booked unfortunately the twin had been double booked subsequently a double was offered but was not suitable for two men so eventually a separate single room was made available which was fine. However the double room had no curtains and the shower didn’t work properly.
7.1 Good
Pros: People nice, food was good and place was clean
Cons: A bit short staffed and couldn’t get the heating to work

Pros: The hotel has a classic atmosphere, with an extremely kind and helpful staff. The chef’s cooking is very contemporary and of high quality. Creative. Spacious room with a nice balcony. Spacious garden with well kept furniture.
Cons: There is no outdoor seating for lunch or dinner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely traditional French hotel in leafy yet central location. Very comfortable, friendly efficient staff, good breakfast and restaurant for evening meal. Free parking. Free room upgrade, being quiet end of October.
Cons: Nothing.
7.9 Good
Pros: good breakfast good locationall ok
Cons: all ok good resturant
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is superb, just about 300m from the centre of Bagnoles, but in a quiet location just across from a large park and small lake. Has all the usual amenities expected of a three star hotel including free parking on site, free Wifi and a restaurant. Breakfast croissants and baguette were the usual excellent French quality, impossible to find in the UK.
Cons: We should have stayed longer than one night.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location for us was perfect, as we stayed to attend the annual Brocante, which started right outside. The evening meal food was really nice. Other restaurants in town are a bit limited in having the same menu.
Cons: No kettle or hot drink making facilities in the room. The owner did bring us hot drinks when we asked, but this must be a hassle for them, and in-room facilities would be easier. There is no bar, etc to order drinks on site.
6.7 Good
Pros: the reception was quite nice and the staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was quite good. The reception of our dog very nice indeed!
Cons: the bed was too short and the bathroom quite small. the room was rather noisy from the street below
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location and rooms are amazing, comfortable hotel close to a forest.
Cons: Staff could really use a couple of English lessons - they were nice but it was almost impossible to communicate.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely hotel, warm welcome upon our arrival - they were already expecting us. The room (room 8) was really lovely. Very clean with big windows, nice big bath with a shower over it. The location is perfect for walking around the lake or to any of the restaurants in the town. From here we also took trips to Domfront, Fougeres, and Mont st Michel. There is a shop 100yds up the road which was really convenient to grab things for our days out. We ate dinner at the hotel twice and the food was delicious. The wifi was very good for us, you did have to get it to load the login screen each time you connected but once this was done we found it fine.
Cons: Having to leave the key on display at reception seemed a little odd. The room also didnt have a safe so we locked our valuables in the wardrobe instead. Breakfast was nice, but there wasn't much of it. I'd have liked the option of having more than one croissant maybe?

7.3 Good
Pros: Easy to find, good central location. Room, although not very large had everything we needed, including good en suite facilities. For the price we paid - 46 euros excellent value for money, We were very fortunate and were able to park in the hotel grounds, but parking is very limited.
7.7 Good
Pros: Friendly welcome and spotlessly clean.
Cons: We didn't feel the breakfast was value for money.
5.3 Okay
Pros: The hotel was conveniently situated in the town and offered good value
Cons: The room was very small
6.7 Good
Pros: The oldy worldy charm of the hotel was lovely. We only stayed overnight but we couldn't have been made more welcome. The receptionist was very nice and spoke good English (unlike ourselves with the French speaking, shame on us).
Cons: Breakfast was a little sparce but adequate... This is not a case of did not like but more for information - the hotel is on an slight and does have a few steps to the entrance so if you are on foot just to be aware..If however, you are in a car then you can go around the back where they do have a disabled access.

7.2 Good
Pros: Enjoyed our stay at Hotel Christol, the location was excellent just a short walk to the town, found some great places to eat and drink and the setting at the lake was lovely. The Hotel was clean and friendly, ideal just as a base. Woud certainly go back to Bagnoles and Hotel Christol again.
Cons: Only problem was the bathroom, the shower was quite small for my husdand who is over 6ft and a larger towel would have been handy, but that is a minor point.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was comfortable
Cons: The entrance to the shower over the bath in room 7 was difficult to get into
6.3 Good
Pros: Not stayed before but had good food so decided to give it a go - food good as usual but rooms were average and just lacked something although I’m not sure what! Think that I was expecting one of the balcony rooms having booked a superior room but this wasn’t the case which was a shame...
Cons: There was no parking available as there was a large flea market taking place over the whole weekend - this meant a rather arduous tour of the town and streets locally several times. Had my 80 year old mother with us so was hoping for somewhere local to park as she cannot walk very far. I make the same mistake each time and read the headlines on booking.com site stating parking but forget to look further to see if it is public or private for the hotel - can be quite misleading.
7.5 Good
Pros: Beautiful hotel with excellent food. Lovely modern comfortable room
Cons: The staff didn’t engage with you, didn’t even smile of make any attempt to even look like they were happy to be there. Such a shame I actually felt uncomfortable even asking for a drink
5.0 Okay
Pros: The neighbourhood, The restaurant and the breakfast
Cons: Bed not made up as requested prior to stay so moved to smaller room with smaller beds and without balcony but charged the same despite querying it - told the "superior room" we paid for was the same price as the "standard" room we ended up with!! Staff knew nothing about the on street parking arrangements and where we could obtain a disk for parking - extraordinary since they must be asked this dozens of times given there is no private parking. There is absolutely no hospitality in the rooms- no tea coffee or even water. There is nowhere to sit and put on make up or do hair as there is no mirror available at the work desk. Hairdryer in the bathroom and so must stand in a poorly lit room and try to do make up there. The towels were so old and dingy grey that they should be thrown away!! The décor is tired with flaking paint on window ledges. The hallways are dark and unwelcoming - dark brown walls and dark blue doors - horrible!! The hotel side of this business does not match up to the restaurant which is stylish, well furnished and serves excellent food via an efficient staff and at a reasonable price. We have eaten here regularly ever since it opened its doors but would never again stay or recommend it.
7.9 Good
Pros: Great food and location
Cons: Rooms were comfortable but decor was a bit dated but did not detract from our stay
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location close to the town and within easy walk of all facilities.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: My wife and I have visited this Hotel on two previous occasions. It is situated in the middle of this small and classy spa town, within easy reach of the attractions. The Hotel has a lift, therefore provides easy access to all rooms for the disabled. The bedrooms are very clean, and comfortable and the Restaurant inside and outside provides good food at a reasonable price. The service provided is excellent and professional. Nothing is too much trouble.
Cons: There is no private car parking at this Hotel. This is not a criticism. The situation of the building does not provide for it. However there is ample public parking ,which is free, on the street directly outside the building. You just have to plan your arrival. Lunchtimes can be busy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: room with balcony
Cons: breakfast rather expensive for the range of food on offer
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful and a lovely shop
Cons: It was misleading to say free parking in the details as we had too park on the main road and were not expecting to

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent all round hotel. Staff really welcoming and efficient. Room a bit bijou but very clean and comfortable. Food at both dinner and breakfast was very good and the service was impeccable.
Cons: No hair dryer in room, and car parking spaces for 9 cars only in a 36 bedroom hotel. On street parking right outside hotel however.
7.9 Good
Pros: The hotel is near the spa and is reasonably placed for the rest of the town. There is a nice restaurant which does traditional European tourist food.. The receptionist was helpful.
Cons: The building is elderly and on multiple floors with a separate annexe. On arrival, we were offered a choice of 2 rooms of which one was in the annexe. This was quite gloomy and near the road and was rejected. We then moved to the top room in the turret where the large bathroom had excellent views but those from the bedroom were limited. The over-bath shower had an ill-fitting small single screen which ensured short showers and lots of spillage! Our bikes were stored in a passage leading to an emergency exit.
7.9 Good
Pros: Great location. Very nice receptionist and gentleman in the breakfast room. Rooms were both clean and ours (in the turret) was full of character.
Cons: No shower in our room and confused what the screen was there for on one side next to the bath.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location for the town and park walk opposite, easy parking, our dog was made very welcome at all times, a beautiful area of France

Cons: Very close to a very loud disco. Parking difficult No one there when we arrived Poor ventilation and masses of condensation dripping onto carpet from windows so the carpet was soaked on that side of bed
6.0 Good
Pros: willing and helpful personal
Cons: too much noise during night - showers, toilets etc.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Could not fault this place very good. Better than expected. I can highly recommend.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice blond girl in the bar. But unfortunately I didn't get her Facebook.
