Lucy went out of her way to make us feel welcome, and was very helpful about what to see in Ghent, our next stop. Also, there was safe parking for our rental car. This is a very nice B & B.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, very clean and comfortable room. Great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: There is to much to wright so i will keep it simple Fantastic B&B and would highly recommend it
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The bedroom was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. The room was also warm and very comfortable to relax in during the evening. The mini fridge was stocked with Belgian beers and small bottles of sparking wine - we did go through them. Breakfast is excellent - so much to choose from. This is a good place to stay if you like cycling (we cycled down to Oudenaarde and up towards Ghent) but also if you just want to go to Ghent or Bruges for the day. The owner is really helpful but allows you your privacy. The building is really lovely - the garden is particularly attractive and you can relax in the bar area next to the garden.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything’s was perfect great stay
Cons: Nothing great place
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Given the price, I was expecting it to be good and it was. Beautifully appointed spacious room, nothing to want for. It's a very nice B&B in a very nice (read posh) residential area.
Cons: But it's lacking something. It's almost clinical in it's perfectness. Staying in an Ibis or a Kyriad is similar but you're not expecting charm from those establishments and given it is a boutiquey B&B I was expecting more charm.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: There was so much that I liked about this property that I’m not sure where to start. Luce was the perfect host, friendly, approachable and very helpful. The room was spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the property; the team obviously take pride in what they’ve created. The location was perfect for us, easy to find, wonderfully quiet and everything was so relaxing. I would definitely recommend this property and would stay there again.
Cons: I liked everything about the property. The only thing I would change if I had the chance would be to put a window in the mezzanine area, but that’s just me being very picky
9.5 Excellent
Pros: everything was fine
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was amazing, 2 floors and a mini bar with lots of storage space. Breakfast was very nice and we liked the continental options especially the fruit and yogurt and fresh orange juice. The owner was very friendly and welcoming, the grounds and decor were breathtaking.
Cons: The bathroom was very hot and we needed our air con turned on during the day and night as the room was warm. Coffee machine in the guest room was faulty, it took a very long time to poor one cup of coffee.

Pros: The room was spacious and tastefully decorated. There was a sofa in the room where we could sit in the evening to relax with the spectacularly good Belgian beers. We brought our bikes and kept them in the owner's garage for security. Just around the corner from the B&B is a the Kattenberg climb to warm you up. The countryside and river track are close by for cyclists and walkers. The restaurant Paulette (5 minutes walk) is outstanding and not to be missed. The host, Katrien, is friendly, welcoming and helpful. We stayed for five nights and could have stayed longer. This is an outstanding B&B and we'd love to come back.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's a great place. I stayed there for the Tour of Flanders cycle race. It's about 500m from the foot of Koppenberg, and around 10km cycle ride to Paterberg and Oude Kwaremont. Then it's abot 5km to Oudenaarde. So great location. There's also an area to keep your bike (as I arrived there by bike). Rooms are quaint, clean and beautifully presented. Bear in mind that the b&b is in converted farm buildings, so has character. Plus Iris and the other members of staff are very friendly and helpful.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the atmosphere created by the owners.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: From start to finish this was a very, very, enjoyable stay. The greeting we received on arrival, the cleanliness of the hotel and room was excellent. We had a meal in the evening on arrival which again was 5*. Breakfast served at the table in beautiful surroundings, again first class. We loved this hotel and will definitely be back. This is a beautiful hotel, extremely well run by the owners and staff.
Cons: Faultless
6.8 Good
Pros: We stayed we our 3 children in the “holiday house” as they call it, which is a separate house from the main building. The positive points first: The room is very spacious and functional, and the garden around is very well looked after. The neighbourhood is also absolutely lovely with superb houses and gardens. The staff were very helpful and welcoming.
Cons: And now what draw the appreciation down: the house must have been closed for the whole winter as there was a very strong dust smell which made us sneeze. The bathrooms setup was wobbly and I wouldn’t say up to my standard. All was clean, and we slept well but not up to an hotel level. The hotel rules are also very strict, and the reception is closed overnight and we couldn’t have breakfast the second day since we couldn’t let them know the day before. We had breakfast the first day and it was very good and fresh, but not extraordinary I would say.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All was v pleasant in lovely surroundings
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property fantastic views, lovely and clean, the staff where lovely and friendly
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly reception and checkout. Excellent breakfast. Everyone had a smile and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is a very quirky building, built in 1913 but looking more like 1319 inside, with thick oak doors etc. The room was large, the bed very comfortable, and the bath (one of our main reasons to choose the hotel) was delightful after a long journey. We had a very peaceful night's sleep. If the weather is fine there is a large and pretty garden in which to sit. The ultimate accolade, we rerouted our return journey to stay there again.
Cons: Not the easiest place to find and definitely NOT for those without their own transport.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We have stayed in this area before so knew what we were heading into. This hotel was new to us and we loved it - plenty of character and very peaceful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was brilliant. I booked this last minute whilst travelling, so glad I picked this place. Lovely peaceful location, such friendly helpful hosts who accommodated our dog and our gluten and dairy free needs with ease. The room was lovely and the property itself is wonderful. Top marks. This is how hospitality should be done and so rarely is. Thank you so much!
Cons: Nothing it was great. The only friendly warning to other guests staying in hot weather, is that the mosquito blind on the window doesn’t quite fully fit and the gap is enough for some to get in and for us to have got eaten alive! Sleep with the windows closed is my recommendation.
7.5 Good
Pros: In a pretty location helpful staff & good breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice area
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet, very friendly, excellent value for money and so good we rerouted our return journey to stay there again, and were greeted like old friends. A large quiet room with a really wonderful bed. The bathroom clean and with a deep tub to ease away the stresses of crowded motorways. A very good TV with channels from almost every European country. Breakfast was excellent and when we next stay here I think we will try their simple evening meals in the room. The local restaurants are very pricey and pretentious but this a very quiet upmarket area only just outside the bustle and noise of Ghent.

Gent is just over 30 minutes’ drive away. Free public parking is available nearby.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location
Cons: The wasn’t a door between the bedroom and the toilet. That is a little too intimate from my point of view.
7.5 Good
Pros: Central location, authentic and classy house, nice designe of the room.
Cons: Noisy rooms due to poor isolation (you hear quite well what happens on the floor).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing rooms....and a lovely breakfast room too
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This was our second visit. The hotel is managed by a charming lady who always makes sure we are well looked after. We particularly enjoy the breakfast, especially the selection of fresh fruit. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with a distinctly modern feel despite being inside an old building.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, charming centre of town 16th century building with excellent staff.
Cons: Could only stay 1 night!
6.8 Good
Pros: Hotel Steenhuyse is located in one of the most beautiful historical buildings of Oudenaarde. The rooms are huge and light with a lot of beautiful historical details kept.I loved the bath in the middle of the room but i didn't like the toilet with no privacy. We woke up from the smell of fresh baked bread in the morning. Once at breakfast you get spoiled by the sweetest lady Mariet. Respect for her how she "runs" the hotel from 6am till she finished preparing the rooms for the next guests.
Cons: We arrived around 3pm and received via mail a pincode to open the front door and the information that the key was in the door room. We haven't seen anyone in the hotel till the next morning. Also no phone or phone nr to contact anyone. We stayed there while it was over 30 degrees, there is no AC or Fan to cool the rooms. Since there is no one at the hotel to ask anything we didn't sleep well, and we booked 3 rooms! Its a pity to see that the owners are putting no effort in maintaining the style and quality. It has so much potential and with 7 rooms, a bar and dining rooms downstairs and an amazing garden its a shame that there is not someone around so guest can use the facilities
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Room was spacious and slightly unusual having bath, bed, toilet, shower and everything else in the same open space, but we actually liked it as something different. Great view out of the window.
Cons: No tea making facilities or kettle.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Big bath was great. Secure bike store.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is situated in front of the market place. There is no reception permanence during late evening and night, but they solved that problem by sending us to the inn nextdoor. The breakfast room is clear and sunny, and looks toward the garden. There is a buffet; coffee/tea is served at the table, as well as warm dishes (eggs). It is a perfect relay for those who want to explore the Flemish Ardennes, most specifically for the cyclists.
Cons: Be aware that is is a renovated building with a history, so it is not perfectly sound-proof in relation to the market place. It did the noise did not prevent me from sleeping .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location in centre of Oudenarde, Old building with modern feel, huge rooms, fabulous building with big high celilings and looking on to square in town, free parking nearby...perfect! ticks all the boxes.
Cons: I could only stay one night :(

Pros: Perfect location
Cons: Tiny elevator but understand why
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice decor, friendly staff and top location right in the bustling market square.
Cons: Bike storage was ok but could do with something to tether locks to increase security. Felt bikes were secure but just a minor additional security pint.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location on the Market Square. Very clean and spacious accommodations with an attentive staff.
Cons: Compared to USA travel, the room amenities were lacking but it did not detract from an overall positive experience.

Pros: The rooms were really nicely done , nice view over the old square
Cons: On arrival at midnight we had to wait 10 minutes until someone let us in , we asked if there was somewhere we could get a drink , response was “ people have to sleep” , parking was also a disaster , had to park about 1km away , and walk back to the hotel , ok with two males , not if you were a single female , breakfast was the bare minimum , ended at 0900 and check out at 1000 ! 3.8 Mediocre
Pros: sunney day
Cons: This was our last stop on a 3 week holiday to Italy and expected to be the best. How wrong can one be. The hotel is located on a very busy country lane which is very dangerous. We were given a quiet room away from the hotel at the back of a car park. The hotel is set on the banks of a beautiful river which would have been great if you could actually sit out there. THIS IS A CONFRENCE HOTEL FIRST AND FOREMOST,with no reguard to their residents. The river area was all out of limits because of a large BMW sales event. The resturant manager was quite abrubt that we could not use the area. The food and drink is very expensive. When we asked for a water bowl for our black labrador dog whilst dining, the waiter came back with a bowl big enough for a small cat. Our quiet room turned out not to be due to a confrence room being set up early in the morning underneath our room which woke us up. When I made a complaint to reception about not being able to use the facilities I was fobbed of with the excuse that we could have sat outside in an area reserved for residents. Which turned out to be a few deck chairs right away from the main area of the hotel. Since we had booked this hotel six months previously I asked why they could not have informed us by email about the area being closed off since that was the main reason in booking from the photos. To which I had no reply. The most expencive hotel on our trip and the worst.
7.5 Good
Cons: Noisy environment!!!! Bad isolation of rooms
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was a good size with additional chairs and a small table and work desk and good Wi-Fi access.. The view from our room overlooked farmland and the river with plentiful wildlife visible early in the morning. We enjoyed a really stunning evening set meal although the drinks (G&T's and 2 glasses of wine were very expensive. Breakfast was plentiful and excellent oh prepared and presented. All of the staff from receptionist to serving staff were brilliant from arrival through to departure. We would certainly wish to stay again if in the area
Cons: Bar prices could have been more appropriate and much reduced. Parking g was plentiful but opposite the hotel and although off the beaten track it was quite a busy road to cross at times.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Ideal stop over on way to Germany.
Cons: All good
9.5 Excellent
Pros: - great location in the countryside but close to the motorway - fantastic staff (they tried to organise us some food at the restaurant when we arrived at 9:30pm) - delicious breakfast in the morning
Cons: - rooms are not very soundproof and need more lighting
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff pleasant.River location.
Cons: The room was comfortable but small and did not have tea or coffee making facilities. The price of the breakfast was excessive at 20 euros per head so we did not use.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The room was lovely. The meal we had was delicious. A very classy hotel in a beautiful setting.
Cons: It's difficult to find fault. This is being very picky but the service when ordering drinks was slow.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: The property has kept the Rustic look at the reception but the rooms are modern and nicely done. I love the Spanish style courtyard
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good hotel that I knew from last year, when I've stayed there first time. The room is very spacious, though I would have prefered to stay in a room with access to the beautiful backyard, as before. The bathroom is very large, I didn't like that one bulb was missing in the designated space for shower.
Cons: It wasn't possible to get a cup of hot water for a Coldrex. (I should have paid, as for an espresso!)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My son and I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and it was the perfect location for cycling around some of the RVV and G-V routes. The family owners of the hotel are the perfect hosts. The 400 year old main hotel has got great character and the newer hotel rooms are immaculate. Excellent buffet breakfasts and the evening meals are superb - with a great selection. I definitely plan to return.
Cons: The hotel rooms could do with another option to keep them cool rather than having the sliding patio doors open.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel, clean and modern rooms. Breakfast is simple but good. Bar is very nice, and the grill restaurant is very good.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Good breakfast - lock up bike shed - very friendly lady in charge. The owner had had an emergency, so her neighbour was in charge for one of the two nights we spent there, but this did not detract from our enjoyment of the stay, The location is excellent for exploring the area by bike, and there was plenty of information about what to see.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a small privately owned hotel, the proprietors and staff were so friendly, helpful and even purchased an air conditioning unit for our room as the temperatures were in the high thirties. Excellent food, all homemade breads, pastries, jams and yogurts for breakfast. The dinner menu was extensive, all fresh ingredients and cooked to order, served piping hot and beautifully presented either outside in the garden or in the restaurant. The room was clean with very comfortable beds. Parking was either just outside or in a car park two minutes walk away. We also securely park our bikes on the premises. This hotel was a real find. I would totally recommend to anyone to staying at this smaller hotel as the service, value for money and whole experience surpassed our expectations greatly.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Although hotel is located about 10km outside the city center of Gent, you won't be disappointed as it gives you that great feeling of silence and peace. We stayed in the loft room and it was nice and cosy - exactely what we expected. Breakfast was made for our prefered time, food was fresh and tasty. Also added benefit for your stay is free of charge parking space back of the house.
Cons: Big disappointment was internet connection speed (as I'm aware this is a huge problem all around Belgium) as it was almost impossible to open and read any news articles or even emails, so we used our mobiles as an hotspot. On the other hand this is not a business centre and you can survive few days enjoying each other company instead of browsing fake news :)
