3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The hotel offers free parking. But this is the only good I can say about the hotel.
Cons: The room was horrible to start with. The bathroom looks like it wasn't properly clened in a while. The shower door did not close properly, the fan did not work, the tiles are dirty. The furniture in the room looks like from the 70ies. Well in advance, we have asked for a bigger room without roof pitch but the staff did not take this into consideration although there were other rooms available. The mattresses are really hard and of poor quality. It appeared to me that the hotel does not care too much about the guests as they are coming anyway in the winter service. We will avoid staying in this place in the future. There was an unpleasant smell in the corridors as well. We didn't try the breakfast even if it was included in the price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing as well enjoyed the hospitality and friendliness of the staff so much. We had a great and big room with a views towards one of the most beautiful mountains and the town/village is so close to everywhere - excellent stay, nothing bad to say and will definitely stay once again. Fells cosy and like at home (we had also a small dog, Pomeranian with us and it was allowed & all went great for the little one as well). Thank you so much!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Vötterl was a lovely hotel. The rooms were simple but very clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. The value for money was excellent, and the breakfast each morning included a fantastic spread. Additionally, the restaurant on the first floor of the Hotel was AMAZING (highly recommend das Schweinemedaillons). The hotel staff were all very kind and helpful, and all seemed to speak at least a little English. The location was excellent and very peaceful. Großgmain itself was very cute, and we were lucky enough to be in town during the annual Krampuslauf (hard to describe, but it was an incredible experience). By car, we were 20-25 minutes from Salzburg and about 30 minutes from Königssee and Berchtesgaden. It's worth noting that the hotel and restaurant are closed on Wednesdays (our check-in day); however, they were kind enough to warn us beforehand this would be the case.

Cons: NA
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent property. Get bus directly from airport to the hotel. Bus stop is right outside the hotel. The hotel staff was very kind, she had informed me about the bus number and stop names and last bus timing. Which made my life so easy. I mean can't thank her enough for that. I was alone, it was my day one and it was dark. So this exact information was extremely helpful. Next morning she helped me plan my day. Breakfast was good. Staff at the property was very nice. Had an amazing stay. Loved it. To balcony had nice mountain view.
Cons: Not really a negative point. Location is very nice not in the bustling city and that is why it is very scenic. But for people who don't want to spend money and time on travel at all this might be a concern. Bus stop is right outside the hotel and gets direct bus to the city centre, 25 minutes bus ride Whicn really enjoyed.

Pros: Spacious room (extra paid) . countryside.
Cons: Very poor wifi in my room, good at lobby and breakfast dining room
'Kaiser Karl' Ferienwohnungen - Grossgmain - Building
3
9.0 Excellent (239 reviews)
C$ 100+
Overview Reviews
Ferienwohnungen Kaiser Karl is set in the oldest inn in Großgmain, dating back to the 15th century. It offers traditionally furnished apartments with cable TV. All apartments have a fully equipped kitchen with kitchenware and a dishwasher, as well as a private bathroom. Some come with a balcony. Free private parking is available on site. The spa town of Bad Reichenhall in Germany is a 5-minute drive away. Salzburg Airport is a 10-minute drive away.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: 500-year old house, lovingly restored and modernised in Austrian style with lots of wood. Excellent starting point for day trips to Salzburg/Salzkammergut, into Bavaria (spa in Bad Reichenhall, 10 minutes' drive, reduced-price tickets at the tourist office), or further afield to the Grossglockner region. Very helpful and attentive owner. Bakery with small store offering wide variety of Austrian rolls and pastries 5-minute-walk, supermarket 10-minute-walk. Our apartment was brand-new and shipshape and had mountain views.
Cons: Windowless kitchen. Rooms are not very large.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent, with bus stops right there
Cons: We prefer shower. A shower curtain on the tub would help.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It's a perfect location for relaxing and private stay with unbelievable beautiful mountain views and an easy access to numerous cities and attractions both in Austria and Bayern. Germany is just steps away from Kaiser Karl - literally steps! - make sure to carry your passport with you. The accommodations offer apartment like conveniences - very good size kitchen (all appliances, cutlery, dishes, pots and pans...), sitting/eating area, separate bedroom, bathroom, balcony. The authentic décor of the place will tug on your heart. Breakfast is no longer included with the stay, but bakery and grocery store are in short walking distance. The owners are extremely nice and will do anything to make you feel welcome and appreciated as their guests.
Cons: Our only issue was that because we did not bring (on purpose) our cell phones, all of our many visitors had a hard time trying to get to us as there is no house phone and therefore somebody always had to allow them in the building/our floor. It really is safe and secure and under the lock at all times - which actually is a very good thing.

6.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was delicious. The bed itself was comfortable.
Cons: The internet didn't work and the night staff were not helpful. The room was clean but bedding was lacking. No parking or parking discount, just a local Parkhouse nearby. The "heated" pool was freezing.
7.7 Good
Pros: Typical US style business hotel that did all the basics very well. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide variety of foods.
Cons: Room service comes with a flat €10 service charge. I ordered a burger which with bacon despite the menu not making any mention of bacon being included.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location of the property, they upgraded us to the club class rooms, front desk was helpful
Cons: Cleanliness was not up to the standard, slightly pricey, at same cost, could have got some better facilities
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: I had excruciating pain and asked for paracetamol at 11pm and they said hotel can’t give any so I said can you please tell me the nearest pharmacy and the staff said everything is closed. I was still in pain 3 hours later and when I called begging for manager to ask other staff for paracetamol the manager picked up and I asked about the pharmacy again and he said there is one 5 mins car ride away. I went through 3 hours of agony because a staff either could not be bothered to find the information or gave me wrong information because he was not trained properly. I only asked for paracetamol, nothing too strong. Worst experience in a hotel ever. When the manager said a pharmacy was open I said can you please get your hotel staff to get it as I was too much in pain and I will pay and they said no we can’t go you have to pay the taxi driver plus it’s cash only. I had no cash only card so they wouldn’t accept. This was a 4 star hotel- a staff could have easily gone with their hotel car in an emergency situation. I was not expecting from a 4 star hotel.

Pros: Great location, modern facilities, elegant room design, bathtub, in house swimming pool and gym free of charge, uncomplicated check-in

Pros: The location it’s perfect
Cons: Only in the cleaner
2.0 Mediocre
Cons: The hotel rooms are old and literally have baseboards peeling off the wall. The toilet is tiny and there's barely any elbow space in the entire restroom. There was dust all over the furniture and stains on the towels. The elevators on our floor did not even work. This is falsely advertised as a 4-hotel but is outdated and horrible quality for the money.

Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
7.0 Good
Pros: Walkable to the center (20 min), but there is also a bus (2 different routes actually, number 4 and ? 2?) that runs frequently and go directly to the center. Well maintained facilities. Dorm room doesn't feel too packed. There is a table and lockers in each room. Ventillation in the room secured by the air-co (which is nice when up to 8 people in the same room). Safe: Always a reception and need of keycard to enter rooms.
Cons: I noticed not all mattresses in the dorm were good (some looked old and soft). This is a hotel, that put a few bunkbeds in some of their rooms. So no hostel atmosphere - not sure if there is a kitchen. There is only 1 toilet per room - which is a bit low for a room of 8. Spare bathroom near the reception...which can be quite a long walk.

9.4 Excellent
Pros: I loved the reception as I was offered a glass of water at the bar while I checked in. Free luggage storage was also nice. The room has tea and a refrigerator. Room feels brand new and is very clean. I liked that they provided glass mugs for tea and a beer glass for the beer I bought from the supermarket.
Cons: The buses are a bit confusing and this hotel is not walkable distance from the train station. The room itself was nearly perfect. The only thing I think could be improved would be to add USB outlets as this is very handy for international guests. I wish I could have stayed all 3 nights at this hotel while I was in Salzburg, but the rates move around dramatically from night to night. This seems common. I saved about €100 by staying in a different hotel each night of my stay in Salzburg.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: room-excelent,breakfast-super,little loud in the coridors...by other guests...
Cons: parking
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very nice, the room was large with a huge doublebed (the real deal!) and there was also a full-sized bathtub! Two different saunas available which was a nice bonus after a long day of sightseeing, bus stops just outside of the hotel and several supermarkets 100 m away. I had a perfect stay, very comfortable and relaxing.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was pretty clean. There was a lot of space. The staff is friendly.
Cons: Weirdly, shower was right in front of the bed and the back wall of the shower is semi-transparent. So if someone is on the bed, they can totally see you showering. Same with the toilet, but the lightning is not that bright there. Not that it bothered me much, but i can imagine it being a problem.

4.0 Okay
Pros: good breakfast and great location overlooking the river and near lots of sights and shops.
Cons: we asked for various things at the reception and the gentleman on duty didn't deal with any of our issues. The beds are all twins and we asked for them to be made into a double and they put a sheet across it, rather than had a fitted double sheet. There was a vase of dead flowers. The plug sockets were loose. The room was very dark even with the lights on. Loads of steps everywhere - no good for a wheelchair or someone with bad walking. We were not able to have dinner in the hotel as there was a convention on, so they suggested the cafe and they could only offer a very limited choice, so we had to go elsewhere
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel offers fantastic rooms and is located next to all the tourist places.
Cons: There is no parking lot nearby and the hotel doesn't have its own parking garage. The closest parking lot is 5 min walk from the hotel which is quite uncomfortable.

Pros: Location was excellent, rooms were great and a good size too. We were a family of 6 travelling with three rooms and as much as all the rooms were different they were all beautiful. We had a corner room overlooking the river and it was huge! Breakfast choice was pretty vast and staff were great. The location is superb.

Pros: Very nice older style hotel right in the heart of Salzburg's old town. Upon arrival we were told we had been upgraded and were given a very nice large room. Although the weather wasn't great for our stay in Salzburg the hotel staff were very helpful pointing out things to do and see and even providing very nice umbrellas to keep the rain off us. The included breakfast at the hotel was also very nice.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I had a very brief but pleasant stay during a very stressful period in Salzburg. I want to commend the staff for being so kind and helpful during a difficult time. They let me check in early and check out late on my day of departure. Great location, and my room had a nice view of the river. Rooms are a bit dated but hey it's a very old and historical building! Hope I can return some day in happier times.
7.5 Good
Pros: Room size perfect.
Cons: No ac in winter so we have to open the window. While opening the windows you will hear noises as people driving cars and removes staff from store and car .

Pros: The location was great. About a 15 minute walk to Old Town.

Pros: The property was in an excellent position, the staff were very helpful and friendly, breakfast had a good variety for all. My only slight criticism was the room was very warm, but we could open the windows to let air in and there was no coffee and tea making facilities in the room, but they were available free of charge in the lounge.
Cons: Nothing
5.4 Okay
Pros: The gentleman in the evening staff was great. The breakfast staff were also lovely.
Cons: This hotel is SO NOISY. The street outside turned into party central early evening and raged until morning. That’s one thing when you can keep your Windows shut but when it’s 30+ C, you can’t lead you suffocate. This hotels solution to cooling the room in sweltering heat was a tiny desk fan (10cm, seriously). Too hot and too noisy to sleep. Never again and I honestly think they owe us some credit back for the misery and lack of notice on the situation.
