10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was comfortable
5.0 Okay
Cons: Well to start, they over booked the room I had reserved, so we had to change rooms, I then had to contact booking.com to change the rate, upon check in they still charged me the original rate, I had asked if the rate had changed and it did, so I thought all was well, after checkout on Sunday, I naturally checked my bank account to make sure all was well, come to find out the hotel charged me again, a total of 4 different transactions totaling nearly 800 dollars, for a stay that cost 266, absolutely fed up with everything, I was so stressed out I couldn’t even enjoy my stay, the staff was apologetic but no one was knowledgeable as to why I was charged so much, so as it sits right now, I’m 519 dollars short and life doesn’t wait, I’ve got bills to pay, and I’ve got to wait a whole week to be refunded, a small vacation I was beyond excited for went downhill before it even was able to start, can’t say that I’ll deal with this whole process anymore.

Pros: The cinnamon rolls!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It was presentable and clean

Cons: mattresses were a little too soft
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The bed was comfortable. My son enjoyed the whirlpool.
Cons: The suite I booked and payed for was supposed to include a sofa bed, after arriving I find that wasn't available anymore. I got used toilet paper one kinda full other almost gone, for $145 I can't have unwrapped toilet paper? My car was broken into and I wanted to know if I was the only one but the lady at front desk wasn't helpful and couldn't have cared less it almost felt as if she thought I was lying. She didnt even get a manager. She didn't even tell me she was done with the checkout process, a simple check out is complete have a nice day would've been nice. I just kinda stood there very unsure of how this works.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Good breakfast. Good location.
Cons: Several outlets in room didn't work. Heated pool not heated.Spa not functioning. Given room key cards for room not yet ready. Returned and found out the room was given to someone else. Told rate would be reduced. It wasn't. Management unresponsive.
1.0 Poor
Pros: The water pressure is good.
Cons: We were lied to about the amount of beds were in the room we booked our room. We ended up having to pay for an extra Room because we were told there was a sofa bed when we book this room. We get checked in go to our room and surprise only 1 bed and a chair. The staff responded with a oh well no big deal attitude. Not even an apology. We couldn't make my son sleep on the floor so ended up having to pay almost 100 bucks more then planned. So much for are wedding anniversary.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The veiw
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view and staff were very nice and very helpful
6.0 Good
Cons: The rooms are usually way too warm with no way to cool down. Summer stays are probably ok, but I will avoid during heating season
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was fantastic! Most comfortable bed I've slept in in a long time!
1.0 Poor
Pros: I wasn't really impressed with anything. The price is too high for what you get. The staff was super extra rude. The room was dirty and out dated. I could've gotten a two room suite with a in-room jacuzzi hot tub for 4 nights at the same rate as this hotel.
Cons: Almost everything was bad.
6.0 Good
Pros: I was pleasantly surprised the Hotel did not charge for parking in their Ramp. They also supplied a "pass" ticket to use for any time I needed to leave then return to the ramp. The bed was very comfortable. The Bathroom and facilities were very nice. The Breakfast in their nice restaurant was very good.
Cons: The Hotel and decor was dark, bordering on dreary and depressing, but the weather was a bit gloomy as well. I was disappointed that there was not a pool or jacuzzi. I booked a "Riverview" room for extra $, but when I got to the room...it had a view of a brick wall. Then went back to desk to inquire....they told me it would be $20 more for a room with a Riverview. I hate when that sort of thing happens, especially when it was obvious the hotel was not full.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing
Cons: This place smelled like garbage
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The restaurant was wonderful. Location was perfect.
Cons: I wasn't able to actually sleep at the hotel. Wall between mine and some late night partiers was thin or non insulated for sound. Was like they were in my room. I could hear and understand multiple conversations. Front desk manager was unsympathetic and straight forward to put blame on me for not calling earlier.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Likes that it was close to excel.
Cons: I paid for a double room and got a king bed. The lady would not change it, not cool when it’s you and your teenage son staying 2 nights. I paid a lot of money and should have got what I booked. My friend who was staying also had a hard time with her room. And she found blood stains on her sheets.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I was there for the state boys hockey tournament so the location was great.
Cons: I paid over $100 for parking which is plenty steep. However, I realize that parking during the state tournament is complicated.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Close to the Xcel Center.
Cons: Paid a little extra for the King Feature room with a river view. I hate to see what the standard room was since this room was barely big enough for the bed and nightstand. Also- the view was of the alley behind the hotel. Not the river.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient Downtown location on Skywalk- close to Xcel Center and great for modern feel. Great food at Citizen Restaurant- and friendly staff. Room had a great view of the Mississippi River.
Cons: No issues.

Pros: Historic and fancy
Cons: Wish they had a pool But not sure how had they retrofit one.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were only there for one night but they took care of us
Cons: The extra to pay for parking but the fact that we could get to our car or be taken anywhere we wanted to go was amazing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Always nice to stay at the St. Paul Hotel. Breakfast is a high point!
Cons: I had booked a deluxe double and had confirmation in hand. We were given a room with one King - which would have been awkward for my father in law and me. When I spoke with the man at the front desk about this, he said he would not be able to change rooms for us and suggested that I must have called and changed the reservation from doubles to a king. After a second trip to the desk seeking resolution, he admitted that the error was on the hotel's side and he would pass the issue to his manager. Ultimately this was resolved and we were given the correct room, but this is not what I've come to expect from The St. Paul Hotel in nearly two decades of staying with you.
9.0 Excellent
Cons: Thought the fee to park overnight $30 was a bit high for the market (St. Paul) and then not enough staff in AM to get car so we waited about 15 minutes.
9.0 Excellent

Cons: The pillows were very thick and hard. It was hard to stay comfortable throughout the night.

Pros: The location was great! It was close to the Excel Energy Center where we were attending a MN Wild Game and there were tons of food + drink options nearby!
Cons: The paint on the walls of our hotel room bathroom were peeling and the property felt like it had been cosmetically updated to cover how old it really is. When we were finally able to use the hot tub (the first night it was full of kids until almost 10pm) it was luke warm. The breakfast was pretty mediocre, but it was included in the cost of the room so it didn't bother us too much - we went out in St. Paul for brunch instead. If you are booking, I would ask to get a room on the Capital side - we were on the highway side and it was pretty loud all night (which didn't bother us, but could if you are a light sleeper)

6.0 Good
Pros: Good location
Cons: Almost slipped in the shower because there was no floor mat. Deffianly could have really hurt myself. Also when I called for a new sheet they brought me the wrong size. So I cslled back and they got it right. But Then all of a sudden I have tons of sheets and blankets in the room. Then the chick didnt even look me in my eyes or say much and walked away quick. Seems weird. Not a big deal just the shower thing mostly

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Bed was clean and comfortable.
Cons: While staying at this property, we witnessed multiple drug deals in the parking lot, broke down cars taking up key parking spots, loud music all times of the day and night. We returned to our room late after a hard day, called the front desk to get fresh towels for a shower and were told that we had to wait until morning and that we should have brought our own. The room we were in had occupants above that seemed to never sleep or leave the room and had children that were allowed to run ramped through the room and hallways. 2am seemed to be the key time for them to wrestle , do jumping exercising and such. Needless to say, I give this property a 1 star. I should give it a negative star but I can at least say the bed was clean and comfortable.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful and spacious rooms. Friendly helpful staff.
Cons: Parking fees.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel itself is a such a great piece of history, it’s great that they have kept a lot of the original post office doors and Art Deco theme throughout the building. The ceilings are super high! It was insane! The amenities are great and the breakfast was quite delicious in the morning. I also appreciate the later check out.
Cons: I woke up in the morning and wanted to take a shower and the water barely came out of the shower head. Had taken a shower the night before so I know it worked normally but for some reason it was very slow running in the morning. I tried at 9am and ended up staying until noon to keep trying because I need a morning shower. Well, no luck.. I asked the front desk and their excuse was it was an old building- which doesn’t really seem like I should have to suffer for. I paid for the hotel room, shouldn’t I be allowed to shower when I want?

9.0 Excellent
Pros: It was beautiful. I have never stayed in a place quite like this.

Pros: It was clean.
Cons: My daughter wrote on the headboard, and I informed the staff before I left & offered to clean it... the staff told me “not to worry about it, they will use disinfectant) to remove it... I checked out a few hours later my card was charged 300 extra dollars... I called them and told them I could get it off & I had offered to do it. They agreed to let me come back & try to remove it. I removed it... took before & after pics.. they still said they was going to charge me 250, I asked them why. Then I told them I needed receipts showing that’s what my 300 dollars went to. The next day I called & spoke to someone , she was rude , short with me & told me she was going to refund my 300 back.. but not before I had to make 12 phone calls . Them she informed me I was being put on the no rent list.... due to smoking in the room.. which I don’t smoke, & smoke can’t be around my daughter because it triggers her seizures. I truly felt like , she had no reason to put me on that list, she was just mad I changed my 300 dollars. In the end , I got my 300 back, but I wouldn’t stay there again if they paid me.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Free shuttle to and from the Excel Energy Center for the concert
Cons: The bar/restaurant was not very fast or friendly. It was not busy at all and the appetizers we ordered took a long time. I came in a little later than my wife and sat at the bar with her and was never offered anything! We shared her tap beer with our food
1.0 Poor
Pros: The location was the only good thing about our stay.
Cons: The price for a room for one night (with access to nothing!) was too much. The room smelled bad. The bill was supposed to be split between 2 people's cards, but my girlfriend's card was charged the entire amount - which put her account in negative status.

5.0 Okay
Pros: My room was very pleasant. I like the location and have always been satisfied with the hotel until this trip.
Cons: If you plan to operate a lounge w/food you need staff to do so. Last night you disappointed guests at the lounge and people checking in. One person can’t operate both and expect great customer satisfaction. My TV did not work, I went to the front desk and while she was being pulled in both directions she managed to give me new batteries, but that did not help. I decided not to bother her again, customer satisfaction was poor!!! I overheard her tell someone that she was the only person scheduled, so it was not due to someone calling in sick.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is the BEST of all BEST WESTERNs I have stayed at in 6yrs of traveling. I will surely come back if I am again in teh ST Paul MN area. They converted a Railroad station into a hotel, such comfort and elegance for a hotel, SUPER perfect rooms and views
Cons: Not at all
4.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: The staff went behind my back and tried to put charges on my credit card that I ga see no authorization for.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Front desk staff was pleasant.
Cons: Hard to fairly assess the whole facility because so much was closed do to COVID-19, but all in all, I felt it was way too expensive. The accommodations, and the appearance, are closer to a 2.5 or 3-star hotel; not a 4-star. The parking lot is very shabby, and the hotel entrance is easy to miss.
5.8 Okay
Pros: I love the convenience of this location as it is near my daughter and son in law when we visit.
Cons: The bathrooms in the room were not extremely clean. There were spots around the door and in the bathtub. If questions about house cleaning they gave me erroneous information. The house cleaner was very sweet but the desk staff were not extremely friendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quite
Cons: Everything very clean
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very historic building. Decent proximity to State Fairgrounds. Roomy.
Cons: Strong air freshener/deodorizer smell when we walked in. Quirky layout getting to room but not a deal breaker.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: staff was really nice.
1.0 Poor
Pros: This place is a dump! I’ve stayed in numerous Best Westerns over the past ten years as I travel back and forth from Duluth, Mn to Mesa, Az. Where we winter. I have never seen one in the condition this one is in. It took 5 hours to heat the room up. According to the desk clerk, “you have to let it run for a few hours for it to work”. At 4:30 AM the heat vent kicked into overdrive, sounded like a jet taking off. I was done sleeping for the day. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Front desk staff was helpful.
Cons: 1st room reeked of smoke & a bad attempt to cover it, closet doors were off their tracks, light fixtures were laying out on table & bathroom counter. 2nd room, door latch & key reader were damaged, breakfast cereal spilled on tabletops, too hot & no air.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice pool area. Helpful staff.
Cons: There was no maintenance so a couple of issues—burned out light bulb, icy patch where my husband fell could not be taken care of. My parents switched rooms twice because of door locks that didn’t work.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Its unique design.
Cons: Initially we were put in a room that was unsuitable but that was changed and we were then quite happy.

Cons: The suite I booked and payed for was supposed to include a sofa bed, after arriving I find that wasn't available anymore.
