10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property had character and was furnished in keeping with its period, but using modern very comfortable furnishings and soft furnishings i.e. beds, pillows, duvets, bed linen, towels and chairs. The property was spotlessly clean, which can be difficult considering it’s age, plaster mouldings, dado rails etc. There was an excellent choice of menu for breakfast and was of an extremely high quality. The dining room member of staff was very friendly and welcoming

Pros: Loved the friendliness and homeliness of the Newton. The staff here are super warm and helpful, so it has a lovely home away from home vibe. The room was lovely and clean and nice and soundproof from the busy road below. Bed okay. Bathroom very nice and clean and well equipped. The room (8) was on top floor but an easy climb and quite spacious. There is a nice lounge downstairs. Breakfast is fresh and all produce is sourced locally including the hams and organic butter and milk which is a very nice. Special.
Cons: Parking is challenging at times but staff are helpful on this. Other parking available locally if needed.

Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful, but sadly we had to cut our stay short, we came just as the government were bringing in new rules about covid 19. We will definitely be back at this hotel, the room was very clean, modern, comfortable, I went down for breakfast which was fantastic, as we were leaving the manager asked my wife if she wanted to take away some breakfast as she hadn’t made it down to the restaurant, so he packed some things for her to take away, she was very impressed by the kindness. 5 stars
Cons: Nothing to dislike

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Newly refurbished gorgeous breakfast space ,total luxury. The breakfast was so fantastic.it had so many options .wish I could return sooner .will most definitely be back
Cons: Paying for parking in hotel car park .But it is Harrogate so that is the norm
7.0 Good
Pros: Room huge but decor a little tired. sofa old and grubby.
Cons: bar busy and understaffed. room service a bit of a mission. reception not manned and had to wait 15 mins to check in.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Due to the hotel undergoing refurbishment which I was unaware about when booking, apart from the central location I didn’t like anything about staying in a rundown hotel/building site.
Cons: Undergoing noticeable refurbishment which wasn’t stated when booking. Visible building works in & around hotel. Facilities closed - pool. Huge TV in room which would have been great if working. Contacted reception who informed all TV connection was down. This wouldn’t usually be an issue but as we was travelling with young child, it would have been nice to relax & watch TV when back in room at 6pm onwards. Room & decor extremely dated & rundown. Clearly misleading when booking as pictures must be completed new rooms which looked exceptional, unlike the dated dark room we stayed in. The refurbishment is needed, & with some great features around the hotel I’m sure will look grand once completed.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good atmosphere friendly staff
Cons: The ongoing and much needed refurbishment did impinge a little eg scaffolding prevented clean windows. But hay! really good value for a gorgeous old town centre hotel that will return to its former glory and then be out of my price bracket I expect!!!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location very good for exhibition centre and reasonably short walk (12 mins) to centre of harrogate for shops / bars etc. Spa was excellent one of best we have been to
Cons: Hotel fine, lovely decor, room good value but can get extremely busy at the spa and at breakfast. Go early for both!
5.0 Okay
Pros: The hotel was beautiful but the room was not what I paid for. However I spoke to the Reception Manager the next morning and she was amazing and dealt with everything straight away.
Cons: The room

4.0 Okay
Pros: Staff were polite and hard-working , trying hard to improve their English, very pleasant. The downstairs (reception, bar, goods in ''windows'' was very attractive. A wood fire in the lounge made it welcoming and warm
Cons: The food, both at dinner and breakfast, was not warm enough. The wardrobe in our bedroom was old and chipped, the carpet was old too. The door to the bathroom couldn't fully open (wall), the washbasin was right against the wall ( with no light above) so you were partly out of the bathroom whilst using it. There was very little space between each side of the toilet and the wall and the bath, barely about 40cm, although I didn't measure it. The revolving doors at the entrance, although very attractive, could have been cleaner
7.9 Good
Pros: Great, location, affordable, lovely building.
Cons: Could do with a bit of a makeover, some rooms were a bit tired. Also the guy on reception could not offer any advice on local area and the dales.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Made sure we were comfortable and well fed in these difficult times.
Cons: No toilet brush. Didn't find the kettle and complimentary tea/coffee in our room until we were packing to leave. They were hidden in a cupboard, we'd assumed the hotel didn't provide any. Would have been useful for that early morning cup of tea!
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: Tired and dirty
7.9 Good
Cons: Very noisy room. Pipes singing, tree rattling on outhouse roof, Guests talking loudly wellafter midnight as they went to their rooms.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: Very pleasant place and staff very positive and happy. My room was very clean and tidy but the decor could do with a tidy up. Wallpaper damaged, minor issue but doesn't give a good first impression

Pros: Room was very clean, location excellent, staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was lovely.
Cons: We had a lovely room in the front of the hotel, which I thought was quite noisy from the traffic, didn’t bother my husband though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely overnight stay. Everyone was friendly and cheerful in spite of the looming difficulties of Coronavirus. They had measures in place to reduce the spread of the virus and also in case anyone became ill. It was such a shame that the hotel was not busier but understandable in the circumstances. We will definitely be going again hopefully soon .

Pros: Excellent service from the staff, particularly the duty manager. Reception area and bar were nice. Good location.

Pros: Lovely hotel in historic building. Staff were friendly and helpful. Beautiful gardens. We went when all the snowdrops were out and it was wonderful. We stayed a night and after a long journey, we ate at the village pub which the hotel also owns. Breakfast was excellent. 5 stars.
Cons: Could have lit up signs from car park to Reception. The signs were there but we arrived in the dark. Other than that it was all perfect.

Pros: Good welcome on arrival. beautiful breakfast room with good choice of menu and lovely staff.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very spacious as it had a bedroom and separate living area. The bathroom was very modern and the shower was very powerful. Comfy bed and a great size.
Cons: There were a couple of the bulbs out in the lights in the living area. The sofa wasn't very comfortable to sit on. This may have been my personal preference but I think the majority of people would agree.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Easy access, no stress.
Cons: The extractor fan was a bit noisy, but this was down to the windy weather!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent facilities, rooms are beautiful and everything in Harrogate easily within walking distance.
Cons: The only fault we found was with the breakfast pack. £20 for basic stuff that probably didn’t accumulate to a tenner, weird ovens that are hard to cook everything supplied. Small touches make the apartment fantastic. But the breakfast is missing the same care. Some small extras like cooking oil and beans would make it a lot better. On a whole it’s just not worth the hassle!

Pros: Room was very comfortable, and met all our needs for a five night stay. Staff very friendly and helpful, Great breakfast menu too!

9.1 Excellent
