Pros: Air conditioning on a hot day, Paulina the manager was pleasant and helpful. Pool was nice, bar staff was fun, pet friendly
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed 2 nights to visit Semuc Champey. Were very impressed with the emails before arriving - really detailed in how to get there, and arranged our transfer shuttle from Flores to Lanquin for 150Q pp. Twin room was really good, enough room, shelves, ac, hot water, nice shared balcony with 2 other rooms with hammocks to use. There was a beautiful swimming pool but unfortunately it was cold and rainy when we visited so we didn't use it. Nice pool-side bar for cocktails and beers, and good restaurant with limited but good food and good value. Really helpful lady from Poland on reception - very good english and happy to give any advice, book onwards travel etc. Slightly out of town, but easy to just stand in front of hotel to get a pickup to Semuc for 25pp each way. The hotel offers a day tour of Semuc for 200pp includes transport, guide, entrance, caves, rope swing, tubing etc etc. As it was cold and rainy when we went, we just got the jeep there and back and did the mirador and pools ourselves. But if you want to do the cave, tubing etc, it would be easier to book the tour than doing it all yourselves. Would happily stay here again if we made the day-long trip there and out again !
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice vibe, good shower, good location, friendly staff, ease to arrange day trips, shuttle etc at reception.
Cons: Room looked a lot older (=more in need for renovation :-)) as compared to the pictures. There were some stains on the pillows.
7.9 Good
Pros: The grounds that the property were set in were lovely, the pool area was very nice. Staff were friendly arranging a tour for t he next morning to semuc champey and also arranging an onward shuttle to Flores. Food was ok.
Cons: It was a little isolated and arriving from Lake Atitlan late at about 9pm, the restaurant had closed so there wasn’t an option for dinner. Our shower didn’t initially have any water- the staff rectified this but it took a long time for the water to heat up.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I stayed in just one of the basic rooms. It was clean, had a good shower, and my bed was very firm which I really like. The food in the restaurant was very good but like a lot of restaurants, it could use a little more pace and efficiency.
7.0 Good
Pros: we didn't jump into the pool but it looked nice the staff is nice and the food was fine!
Cons: it's a bit past its prime, so everything looks like it's in need of some maintenance but if you don't expect a luxury resort it's totally fine our guide smelled of alcohol already in the morning but apart from that we had a very fun day with him!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Aruma Eco-Hostal is one of the cleanest place that we stayed so far during our backpacking trip for 6 months... The location is perfect, you can even walk to Semuc Champey! The food is so delicious and the prices are worth money, the plates are big! The staff is very friendly, I had a stomach ache and they found a peppermint tea for me... They are available for any questions/help all the time! It is also very secured place, they have a lovely dog whom we loved so much! We definitely recommend this place who wants to explore Semuc Champey and around the region (by the way they are selling excursions like semuc champey, cacao farm etc and they are very organised so you do not need to book the tours in advance, they will help you immediately with all that!) We stayed at upstairs at a private room with shared bathroom and the bathrooms/toilets were always super clean! Thank you again for your great hospitality and we really hope to come back to Aruma Eco Hostal one day...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel received us without any problems, even at 3 in the morning simple breakfast comes at a price ... that's why I took a better one for a fee ... as usual, a Guatemalan coffee ...
Cons: you have to check the payment ... I had the impression that we paid for everything by booking ... but we had to do it at the hotel ... we had a disagreement with the owner ... everything was resolved
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This property was eco friendly as they desire to be, electricity restrictions and no wifi (however if it’s urgent they will let you use their hotspot for a little bit-I needed to book our shuttle we had already paid for) otherwise they organise shuttles as well so they can help you with anything you need. The food was good value and great portion sizes. Happy hour was from 7pm, perfect for dinner time. We also walked to Semuc Champey in 45minutes from there which isn’t bad to get to the park before everyone else does. They don’t speak much English here, but we worked together to understand each other and it was still a pleasant experience. The only atm is in town so if you come on a shuttle they will pick you up right from it, however it is such a hectic time with drivers everywhere you won’t have time to stop at the atm. It is best to have cash before you go, but the hostel lets you pay on card.
Cons: Wish there were hooks in the double room to hang clothes/towels to dry.
4.6 Okay
Pros: To stop the lies, and stop promising things that can’t be done. You’re just baiting people in for the business.
Cons: I was told my room was ready. I went to bed. I needed to use the restroom but had no toilet paper, no shampoo to shower or soap, no towels. I had to go ask for everything when it should of already been inside the room. It took 1 hour for our food to be served. The caves were promised for 2 days. We wasted half of day waiting when you could have been honest since day one. I don’t recommend it for a family because all I could smell at night was the weed and loud music.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is beautiful and the staff (and dog) are lovely
Cons: Eco is a word for “lack of facilities”. But in fairness it’s not the hotel ritz so
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing for the price. Great staff. Clean. Great location - walkable to Semuc Champey. Lovely dog (but do not let him follow you to Semuc because he isn't friendly with other dogs). The owner helped us organise transport to our next destination.
Cons: Very noisy roosters and general jungle noise but this isn't the fault of the property. The food was too salty for my taste. And not a huge amount of choice for vegetarians but this wasn't an issue for us because we only stayed 2 days and it's the jungle!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and well kept hostel. Fresh all the time in toilets and showers. The dorm is airy and with clean fresh linen. The staff was amazing, very kind and always ready to help and make adjustments if necessary. Food was really good and more than enough. Supernice breakfast and many alternatives.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like. We can imagine it can get crowded with 3 toilets and 3 showers if the dorm is full (15 beds) but there were only a few people so no problem at all. (And they are going to construct more houses to be finished before Easter)
7.0 Good
Pros: The place is very peaceful, good food at the restaurant although the breakfast was a bit light...
Cons: The room smelt of damp and if you book a shuttle with the hotel, make sure you have an actual ticket because it might be a hassle afterward...
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice place, 45 minutes walk to semuc Champey, which is doable. Great staff (my Mother was worried about me and she reached them and they let me calm her down using their phone
Cons: The water is cold and no wifi but it's written on the conditions.
7.0 Good
Pros: Staff was super friendly and it was very clean at all.
Cons: It's literally in the middle of nowhere. Prices are doubled as in the City Lanquin. You are absolutely alone there, and if its raining, nothing to do else there. For some good, others would think it's very boring... As the rooms are into direction of the bar and restaurant, any louder laughing could disturb you.

6.0 Good
Pros: The staff were very friendly. Nice people and good location near river. Free pick up from the bus station to the hostel. Also liked alot of the music they played at the restaurant. Facilities nice and clean with good Wi-Fi at restaurant.
Cons: Overall food wasn't that great - pancakes We're the nicest thing on the menu. Burgers not great. Watermelon tasted like it had been chopped with the same knife that was used to cut an onion. Gave this as feedback to the waiter. He tried it and reported it back to the kitchen, although no replacement fruit. Also the location was great but at night a nearby hostel played very loud dance music & cheering till at least 1 am (on a Monday & again on Tuesday night). We stayed in one of the huts higher on the hill so the noise just traveled. Not as peaceful as I had been expecting thought it would be tranquil to stay slightly out of the main strip in Lanquin. Awake half the night. If you're noise sensitive request a hut closer to river.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly service, good general vibe. Just lay back, relax and listen to the river running :)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Simple hut , good location to visit semuc champey which is great.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A stunning place and I think we may have been upgraded for free! Lovely setting and friendly staff with a great view
Cons: The bed was a bit too hard and sheet was too small for two people. This place could definitely charge extra if they improved the beds (nice bedding) and put proper curtains in!
7.0 Good
Pros: Overall the place was nice. I would recommend more typical Guatemalan food on the menu
Cons: Our bathroom was very smelly and sink kept clogging.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was just awesome! Really nice and helpful. They really made our stay extra nice! Go for the tubing excursion. Good fun!
