10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole ambience of relaxation and tranquility, the countryside location of the beautiful old buildings, yet close enough to the coast. The spacious room, huge bathroom, a terrace looking out on garden and grounds. The covered, almost enclosed, heated outside swimming pool, with comfortable loungers alongside. A fascinating place, plenty of character, a dining room bedecked with artwork and offering a very good breakfast, though dinner a bit pricey in our opinion. Overall an excellent stay.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The man who welcomed us was amazing., he might have been an owner but if he wasn’t he was a fantastic member of staff. We arrived in the middle of a fiesta and couldn’t get near to the hotel so he walked with us to our car and drove us round the village and through blocked roads to park at the back of the hotel. The room was beautiful and immaculate and had a lovely balcony looking into the back of the hotel where there were tables for the restaurant. The meal in the restaurant that evening was delicious although we could have had more vegetables. There seemed to be other restaurants and bars in the village but we couldn’t really work out what was what due to the whole village being consumed by events.
Cons: Arriving mid fiesta was not ideal as the festivities went on until after 3 in the night and the hotel is in the middle of the village. But normally this wouldn’t have been an issue as once the last revellers had left it was silent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing hidden gem with great wine and food. The town is very relaxing and the staff are very accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable with a cute little balcony over looking one of the back streets. Great value for money, definitely recommend.
6.7 Good
Pros: Comfortable beds and very clean. Easy stopover from ferry.
Cons: Quite noisy. Breakfast not served until 9am. Just a shower attachment in the bath, no shower curtain.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very enjoyable stay in this hotel, which was comfortable and interesting with real character. Staff were helpful and the food and wine delicious - can recommend the paella!
Cons: Nothing in particular - it was a pleasant one-nighter.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was full of character and located in the beautiful village of Escalante. The room was very clean and comfortable. There is a vibrant bar and restaurant downstairs where all the locals seem to gather.
6.3 Good
Cons: The staff were not impolite, but were rather off-hand. This was not a language problem as we were speaking Spanish. We were not made particularly welcome.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location in a super 'picture postcard' village. Room was large and exceptionally clean. Breakfast was excellent and staff very friendly. Higfhly recommended.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Perfectly located in the centre of the village, very easy to reach from the motorway. The staff speak only a very small amount of English but they were attentive and responsive and we managed to communicate well enough. The room was fine; it was clean and the bed comfortable. The restaurant doesn't open until 9pm but there are bars very near by and we felt very safe walking around the village. The food and wine was great and they prepared a vegetarian meal especially for me. Breakfast is served from 9am. This was very good with excellent coffee, fresh juice, pastries, bread, meats, cheese, an excellent selection of fresh fruits, yoghurts and cake. Overall we were very happy with our stay here.
Cons: nothing
6.3 Good
Pros: The room was large and had a balcony, but it would have been nice to have a parasol or some shade, as it was too hot to sit out there.
Cons: The staff were rude and indifferent. There was no-one at reception when we arrived, but the bar area was staffed. The staff member showed no interest in even acknowledging our presence, so we rang the bell which he then impatiently gestured to us that he would be with us. After a wait, he tried to check us in,but had to call someone else. No information about the hotel was offered on check in, and there was nothing in the room. I had to go back to the bar and ask for the WiFi code, which was scribbled on a piece of scrap paper and handed over without a word. We had breakfast included, but again I had to ask the times. The buffet breakfast was ok, but we had to ask for more items which had run out - the only staff member there was too busy talking to attend to guests. I also wonder what is the idea with the spooky dolls in a cradle on the 1st floor landing!

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable room with modern bathroom and furnishings, located in a beautifully restored house.
Cons: Not located near anything in particular; was glad to have a car to go to the bigger town nearby for dinner
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Small and friendly, good location for travelling from.
6.7 Good
Pros: The staff was kind and polite, and the cleaning was very good. A lovely restaurant (Hermanas Sarabia) at walking distance!
Cons: The room (we got the family room overlooking the street) was very humid, probably due to its location close to the seaside. No shutters for the windows and very thin walls. Hairdryer is very basic and the shower pressure was low. Breakfast was a bit poor and not worth the 5.5 euros/pers.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Clean and cosy hotel, in a lovely rural village, perfect starting point for hikes in the natural parc. Maps are available in the common room. The staff was very welcoming. Good breakfast.
Cons: The bed squeaks, and the walls are thin. But it was a nice stay nonetheless.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Quiet side street. Room was reasonable for the price.
Cons: Hard to find. GPS coordinates (and picture on map) give the hotel's position one block from its actual location.
7.5 Good
Pros: Las Solanas is in a beautiful location, opposite the river, which has breathtaking views, as well as a 5 minute drive to the incredible beach. The hotel is in the heart of the village, which makes it convenient and is very easy to find. Limited parking is possible directly outside the hotel. Dogs are welcomed. The staff obviously take a lot of care with cleaning.
Cons: Due to the nature of the building, location and distribution of rooms, noise levels were high...I could hear the next rooms tap, shower and toilet running as if I were in the same room. The same applied to the guests and their children...and I dare say my dog - which due to the levels of noise I was constantly on edge when she was barking, and unfortunately there was a fair amount of this due to the sounds of running, shouting, playing children, coming and going’s of life - both inside and outside the hotel. There was also a small fridge, with a microwave sitting on top, located directly outside my room - I’m not sure if this was accessible to all rooms but the ‘pinging’ and door-slams became quite tiresome. Additionally, and maybe due to the language barrier, I had believed that breakfast was included within the booking - I even got handed a welcome sheet that listed breakfast times, no mention of money. However when I checked out, it was an additional cost. I didn’t query it, as quite frankly I had eaten it!...and my Spanish isn’t good enough to question it. I guess it was worth the 5€ per day but just to be aware it is an additional cost. Had I realised I would have abstained - I’m travelling on a small budget.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly. Nice village.
Cons: WiFi didn't work properly. Breakfast was missing a "healthy" Müsli (Personal tast of mine). Light in the room was not very cosy
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel in a quiet, area, despite the language barrier the woman I met was very friendly and helpful.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and the buffet breakfast was excellent value for money

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, off street parking, 5 minutes walk from a lovely beach and 10 minutes from the old town.
Cons: No air conditioning. The decor was a little dated and the mattress poor quality.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location is perfect for spending time at the beach and discovering the old city centre. Staff was very sweet and helpful. Breakfast was good.
Cons: The lights near the beds were not working and the beds felt like trampolines. If you took a shower half the bathroom became wet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was charming and so were the staff. It was near to the beach and the old town and down a quiet residential road. The room was very clean, parking was free behind a locked gate.
Cons: It was better than I thought it would be so nothing to dislike.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very professional staff, very clean with well appointed rooms. In a very nice, quiet location!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was amazing! Close to the center and the beach was a block away.
Cons: Breakfast was too poor.
5.0 Okay
Cons: No service from any of the staff Poor breakfast
7.9 Good
Pros: Location was part of the older town and near the beach which I liked...
Cons: Room was very hot by the evening. No air conditioning.
7.1 Good
Pros: Its near the beach
Cons: You are paying for the location of this Hotel. The staff was nice and helpfull but the bed was stiff and the room was tiny and sparse. Also, the way the showerhead is installed in the room doesnt allow for the water to collected by the shower waterguard. Instead, water just sprays all over the room and the entire bathroom floor becomes soaked due to this. Breakfast was very subpar. I was charged twice for coffee because I got a new cup because my last one was taken. The breakfast consisted of a single piece of toast with a few jam/butter spread options yet was charged 7,50€ for toast. Like everything else in the hotel, very pricey for a bland and lacking experience. It is a 100meter walk to the beach so that was nice. But I would only recommend this if you need a last minute option.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good spot for 1st/last night before Santander or Bilbao ferry. Great value. They were kind enough to arrange secure parking for our motorbikes which was much appreciated.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location to beach
Cons: No air conditioning !! No beach towels , Staff had no English at all
7.5 Good
Pros: Yard to safely store motorcycles, convenient walk into town.
Cons: No air con, just had 40% temp, making rooms very stuffy.
7.5 Good
Pros: Easy walk to the beach and close to the old town with lots of bars and restaurants. Receptionist was helpful. The bedroom was quiet, and the bed comfortable. Our room was out the back in a courtyard.
Cons: We couldn't park in the same street, but got parked in the next one. Breakfast consisted of orange juice, tea or coffee, a slice of toast, and various pre-packed cakes.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good clean hotel, well situated for the beach.
Cons: The breakfast , maybe add some fruit
6.7 Good
Pros: Good location, quite nice room
Cons: Very limited breakfast. Drain smell in our room

7.1 Good
Pros: Authentic hotel, very hospitable staff, great views. Good food, nice to have good restaurant on site
Cons: not much storage in the small rooms
7.5 Good
Pros: Accommodation was very quiet and clean and the staff very nice
Cons: A bit out dates.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Very quite place with a nice view of Laredo beach from the balcony, as the hotel is located on a hill. Ample outdoors (EUR 4.50 paid) parking, in three levels. Family hotel, with a level of "welcome-ness" varying according to the family member receiving you, normally warmly.
Cons: As I mentioned elsewhere, it seems there is an inflation of hotel stars in general in Spain, and indeed this hotel should be labelled as 2-stars, instead of 3 - making it pricey. This being a family business with focus on the restaurant rather than the hotel part, it was not surprising that rooms and facilities were dated and simple. We did not appreciate the room smelling mildew, nor being charged EUR8 for a basically prepacked breakfast worth at most half of it. The only fresh item offered was coffee. When we asked on the first day for some more bread in addition of the two slices provided per person, the answer was a blunt "No, there isn't enough bread for everyone." (The next days, we brought our own bread.) Maybe that was a bad day.
6.7 Good
Pros: Nice balcony and outside area with good views over Laredo.
Cons: Breakfast very limited and expensive for what we had.
6.7 Good
Pros: Parking but we had to pay extra
Cons: So far out of city we had to eat there. Quite expensive and also charged for sitting down
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great views and comfort
Cons: Walk back from town up a big hill
9.6 Excellent
Pros: View from balcony
Cons: Restaurant menu was limited
7.9 Good
Pros: Views were amazing, and staff were very accommodating
Cons: Unfortunately no hot water on first day until very late at night
7.5 Good
Pros: Fabulous view, room with balcony to watch sunset. Nice decor, bedroom very clean and comfortable, nice public areas. Enjoyed dinner.
Cons: Might be a ten minute walk down to centre of town ( though I think 15 minutes might be more realistic) walk back very steep - 25 minutes perhaps.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Fantastic views, comfortable bed
Cons: No WiFi in the room at all, staff overworked and consequently quite rude very noisy, what a shame
