10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are very welcoming and speak multiple languages fluently. We received great advice on what to do and where to go around Carcassonne and some great history of the area. (While being served wine and infused water). The location is peaceful and is fantastic. You can walk to the walled Cité de Carcassone if you want to. The swimming pool is a nice escape from the summer heat! Breakfast was amazing And included fresh fruit, homemade yogurt, breads and preserves, and eggs and sliced meats and cheeses.
Cons: Everything met or far exceeded our expectations.

Pros: Very kind and obliging hosts, lovely room layout and furniture, beautiful swimming pool and setting, good nicely presented breakfast.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel set in beautiful gardens/grounds. Lots of character, very sympathetically renovated and we were made to feel very welcome by the owners. We had two good meals in the restaurant next door and the breakfast in the hotel was excellent. The location was perfect for us, being a few miles out of Carcassonne but easy access to the centre via a local bus at only €2 return per person! We would certainly recommend this hotel.
Cons: We liked everything!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel with well-appointed room, good outside space and a nice pool. Very nice breakfast.
Cons: We were a party of six and had booked and paid for six people. However, when we came to check out the hotel said we had only booked for four and had to pay a supplement. A phone call to booking.com resolved the situation, but beware if you are booking for a larger group. The owner's rather aggressive handling of the situation soured an otherwise very pleasant stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This beautifully restored chateau was the perfect spot for our stay. The welcome we received from Emma set the tone. The rooms were lovely and spacious, and the pool provided much needed relief after a hot day at Carcassonne. Be sure to have dinner at the restaurant - one of our favourite meals in France. This really was a fabulous spot!

Pros: The owners were very nice and very helpful. Parking on location was a plus. The location was great and within walking distance of the old part of Carcassonne. Breakfast was very good.
Cons: The pillows on the bed were not comfortable.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location, very kind and informative personnel, quiet and clean rooms, private parking.
Cons: It is a bit complicated if you want to park at the hotel because of the policy of the town to close the road for traffic in summer. We had to park somewhere near, walk to the hotel to get the remote control, go back to the car, drive to the street, use the remote control to lower the road block and get to the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Located on a cute street about 10 mins walk from the entrance to the walled city. Bathroom was very updated and included a heated towel rack. Several eateries are within a minute's walk.
7.9 Good
Pros: Location was excellent
8.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was cordial and helpful. There is a terrace on the top floor with a spectacular view of the Castle. This alone made the place worth the cost. The rooms were spacious and charmingly decorated. We had a room to sleep 4 ppl and it was comfortable for everyone. I definitely recommend it.
Cons: The air conditioner was not working. The bathroom had a strong sewage-like smell (we kept the window wide open and closed the bedroom door to contain the smell). The breakfast was priced higher than the content's worth.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Helpful and polite hosts, fabulous location midway between cite and lower town, cleanliness, breakfast, Isidore. We arrived late but were provided with passcode and keys to get into room.
Cons: Not much really

Pros: Excellent location within walking distance from the old city. View from the Terrace of the old city, particularly at night was excellent. Breakfast for 10E was good value.
Cons: You have to carry your luggage up stairs - not really an issue for us, but beware.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is a family own small property but was maintained very well. The host is very warm and helpful. They have their own garage for parking of a few cars. The hotel is in walking distance to the castle. This hotel costs much less for parking (7$/night) and also had cheaper price for Breakfast (10$/person). It is really nice and with good price. Highly recommend for this hotel
Cons: There is no elevator for bring heavy luggage to upstairs, but the host helped me to carry my mid-size suitcase to upstairs.

Pros: The staff is so courteous and helpful! The property is just 10-15 minutes from La Cite, and is an oasis for relaxation. The grounds are lovely, and there is a heated pool. We were able to book 2 connecting rooms. Free parking inside the gate was appreciated.
Cons: The room is a little small.

Pros: We had a fantastic week at Hotel Bastide de St Martin. Isabelle and Alain were amazing hosts making our stay even better with their helpful tips and advice regarding restaurants and things to do in the area. Also they provided wine, beer, hot drinks and snacks during the day as there is no restaurant. Laura was also fantastic with local tips and advice and was extremely pleasant. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: A great breakfast personalizes and relaxed with the opportunity to meet other travelers. Our hosts where very friendly and helpfully.
Cons: The towels and small pillows.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, very nice amfitrions, Victor and his friend were very helpful in getting us recommendations and tips of what to visit. The breakfast was delicious, the fresh smoothie and good coffee much appreciated!
Cons: The house is very nice, old French style renovated, but the floors are very noisy, from wood that make sounds at every step you take. Also, little privacy with no bathroom door and walls are very thin, allowing you to hear the other rooms perfectly. Would be great to have access to the main floor outside breakfast time to enjoy a glass of wine (have to admit they said they will implement this soon). Also, they do not admit credit card payments, so this has to be taken into account when stayon there: come prepared with cash or make directly a transfer.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice, quirky style of rooms. Breakfast was especially pleasant, including local specialties. The hosts were awesome, we also got a good recommendation for dinner in the city.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: EVERYTHING was EXCELLENT!!!! Very kind hosts, Serge and Muryel give lots of tips about things to do in the neighbourhood, Viktor (the son) makes the most delicious smoothies throughout the whole year at breakfast, very nice breakfast with delicious fresh products, the house and room are truly SO BEAUTIFUL, ... This is one of those rare B&B’s we will keep in mind and recommend to family and friends!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Just two mins drive from the walled city of Carcassone, this property is a little gem. The facilities are excellent with a lovely pool and sunbathing area; the rooms are very individually styled and comfortable, lots of stone and wood make this a really interesting place to stay. Serge and Muryel are absolutely lovely hosts serving a superb breakfast, they made us very welcome and we really enjoyed our stay.
Cons: Nothing!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice breakfast choices served at large communal table. Muryel and Serge are good hosts who took the trouble to introduce us to fellow guests. The location is very quiet but only a few minutes from the walled town by car and on the same side of town as the large parking areas. Property is old and atmospheric.
Cons: Would have liked a full shower in the bathroom but there was a beautiful old bath with a very good hand shower so cant say we didn’t like it! That would just be icing on the cake!
Hôtel de la Cité Carcassonne - MGallery - Carcassonne - Building
7
9.1 Excellent (3,214 reviews)
C$ 271+
Overview Reviews
The Hotel de la Cité is a magical place located in the heart of the medieval fortified city of Carcassonne and is part of the MGallery Collection. A 5-star hotel located within the walls of Carcassonne, built in the 19th century in a Neo-Gothic style. The hotel has 47 rooms and 13 suites and also features an outdoor pool and shaded park. Discover a hotel where the art of hospitality is paired with gourmet dining from Chef Jérôme Ryon at the Barbacane restaurant.
7.0 Good
Pros: The location is excellent.
Cons: The restaurant is a Michelin star restaurant. In our opinion it doesn't deserve this award. The room is the same room used for breakfast and lunch. Also the food was very average and certainly not, in our opinion, Michelin star standard. When you arrive there is a rail with hangers on it that would be used at a school hall event to hang coats, that sets the tone. The hotel was lovely and would have exceeded expectations if advertised as a four star with a good restaurant but it disappointed for the reasons stated above.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were made incredibly welcome. Nothing was too much trouble.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location and setting of the hotel are lovely: you are right in the medieval city, steps from the beautiful Basilica of Saint-Nazaire. The friendly and attentive staff contributed to an overall feeling of luxury. The grounds are beautiful and the views sublime. We stayed as a couple, and found the hotel, restaurant, and city really quite romantic.
Cons: The rooms are a bit dated: carpets and marble are stained in places, and paint is cracking. The WiFi was also a bit weaker than I would have expected, and could not quite support seamless video streaming. But some of these little issues are to be expected in a hotel as old as this one.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Dinner 24th excellent
Cons: Safety of bathroom..
8.5 Excellent
Pros: LIkes: Fabulous view of the City over the Walls Overall feel of the hotel Comfort of the pillows and bed Best location for staying in the Old City Terrific breakfast Complimentary castle tickets
Cons: Dislikes Car has to be at least 200+ yards from the hotel--no private auto access--they use a small van to take you to the hotel. The room we were in was quite small--the closet door backed up to another needed door--constant banging. Chair for the desk had arms--could not go under the desk--another small room issue Partial glass separator for shower in the bath does a lousy job of keeping water in the tub Needs more electrical outlets--especially around the desk area
7.0 Good
Pros: The reception of all in special when taking you from parking to inside the walls where the hotel is located
Cons: Vert poor breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is beautiful and is in a fantastic location. The rooms were very comfortable and clean.

Pros: Florentina, Melanie and Rosanna were great hosts, always helpful and courteous. Thank you for the room upgrade too. It was nice to have a jacuzzi.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Just outside the walls.
Cons: The hotel parking is inside the public parking. If you don’t know you are lost in the beginning
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location next to entrance to the Cite (why would you pay extra to stay in La Cite when this hotel is here) parking, amazing contemporary designed hotel with attentive staff - great pool, quiet at night too, unlike many rooms in La Cite. Free parking. Now my favourite hotel in Carcassonne.
Cons: Door entry system to rooms is a bit too clever for it's own good, but a small fault and the only one I could comment on. Breakfast is fine as a buffet style breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: You have your own garden
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Close to old city, and bus to new part of town was right in front of the hotel. Nicely decorated, very comfortable.
Cons: Breakfast was way over priced.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's a beautiful location on the top of a hill in a stone village, simple and comfortable, quiet and picturesque. Food was amazing, as was the wine pairing, but the menu of the day is what you get, so if you are particular about what you eat this may not suit.

Pros: The location is excellent, very close to the main sight of the Carcassonne city (the medieval castle) Quite quiet with a very tasty breakfast and with a lot of variety on the choices. Fresh fruits and freshly baked croisssants. Very clean also with daily care.
Cons: The staff knew very little English and not all of them knew how to communicate. The tables in breakfast were very close to each other and the space was not comfortable to move freely. You had to wait a lot in order for the eggs to get boiled as they are offered raw and the space for the boiling was only 4 eggs (minimum 10 minutes in line for the eggs)

Cons: Breakfast is quite good but could be more varied. You must pay in cash, credit card is not accepted.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location a beautiful property
7.1 Good
Pros: Not a lot actually. Sandra did her best to welcome us but the atmosphere was both stifling and somewhat spartan. The only positive for us was the secure parking and the distance to the old city of Carcassonne.
Cons: Someone there to meet and greet us instead of a great closed door! We arrived in the middle of the reception times so there was no reason for someone not to be there. The place was cold, the sheets felt damp, there was not even a little carpet in the bedroom and the décor did not match the antique furniture. We felt ill at ease and we never even saw the owner! Sandra seemed afraid to disobey her boss rather give us what we asked for (a kettle of BOILING water for our morning tea). we were glad to leave in spite of Sandra's efforts but chambres d'hôte should be exactly tht - siomewhere that conveys the convivality of thehost. Sorry, but it didn't do that.

Pros: The location to the Cité was amazing and the staff were so lovely, all of them.
Cons: It was perfect for us, but if you were after something with a bit more character, then you’d want to look elsewhere. It’s a bit motel like - but much nicer.
7.0 Good
Pros: Excellent location, just a short walk from the ancient citadel. Free off street parking though it was not secure. Friendly and informative staff 7 comfortable bedroom.
Cons: Would have preferred a greater choice for breakfast e.g. eggs. Bathroom was very tiny making uncomfortable to use the toilet. Shower area was spacious but undersized shower screen meant the rest of the bathroom got wet.

Pros: Perfect location less than 5 minute walk to the entry to the Medieval city. Views of the medieval city from the bedroom windows. Rooms are large and comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. Close walk to restaurants in the medieval city or in the city itself.
Cons: Breakfast was quite expensive for what you were actually paying for. Cheaper and more worth your time to go to a local bakery.

Cons: Pillows were a bit too big!!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location could not have been beaten. Whilst it may have been quaint being INSIDE the walled city, in reality, this place is literally just outside and better for it. It was modernly stylish and clean. The bed very comfortable indeed. The staff were all excellent, and the Hotel should be very proud of them. Everything was made simple and straightforward. We would definitely stay here again, and recommend to friends, without a doubt, and that's the best testament of any review in my opinion.
Cons: Picking at straws here, the bath took an age to drain (the plug needs to be adjusted) and we never worked out how to operate all the light switches, but that may be us being tired after a 7 hour drive. As I say - picking at straws... the place is great really
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Stylish hotel With comfy and very clean rooms. The staff are lovely and helpful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff, especially Reyna and her two 4- legged assistants, are beyond wonderful! So much fun! This unique boutique hotel is so convenient to exploring the old Cite, and very casual and welcoming. Great breakfast... oo... and great selection of Occitanie wines... definitely would stay again!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Dinner was a fantastic experience. Hotel is beautiful and you must like vintage and old furniture.
Cons: Limoux hasn't got a great story to tell.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was in a beautiful building well located in the centre of Limoux. The receptionist was charming and very welcoming. The room was comfortable and the dinner excellent. Breakfast sadly was a letdown. The orange juice was not fresh and there was no facility even for boiling an egg.
7.5 Good
Pros: the breakfast was good and the location was good for all local needs
Cons: nothing, it served a private need
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Close to center of activity.
Cons: No parking. It is low season now, I can’t imagine in spring and summer how hard it will be. We had to park about 5 blocks from the hotel along the river bank parking lot.
5.4 Okay
Cons: The noise on the street
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location close to the main square where the bars and restaurants are located. Hotel was welcoming and intrinsically French which we love. When we arrived we soon realised that the town was in the middle of it 3 month Carnival. Utterly bonkers and well worth the visit. Even the hotel staff didn’t mind the copious amounts of confetti we managed to bring back on our clothes that soon covered the floors to and in the room.
Cons: Can’t think of anything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a fabulous hotel in the centre of Limoux. A beautiful hotel which has preserved all the grandeur and character of another era. The monumental staircase, the mouldings, stucco, beautiful high ceilings..... this style of hotel in Paris would cost over a thousand euros a night! Yet with all the modern conveniences, like WIFI and air-conditioning. We loved this hotel, and it's fabulous value for money, and just a stones throw from the main town square. Very friendly personel, great breakfast. Perfect!
Cons: Nothing to be improved.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is situated in a quiet street just off the main square. Our suite was perfect, lots of space. Very French Decor .Breakfast was excellent with a good choice. Staff and customer service excellent
Cons: Didn't like the building work next door to the hotel. Work started at 8am. Stairs very steep. Would be a problem for the elderly or someone with a disability. There is no lift. The hotel closes on certain evenings during the winter so there was no restaurant for 2 evenings on our stay.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: very good, nice selection of food available.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location good. Right on the market square and comfortable walk from the railway/bus station. An apartment, not just a room, and spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was ok, maybe not quite as much choice as in other hotels. Lunches and evening meal served in the bar area....we enjoyed them....good quality French cooking at reasonable prices. Many locals dining there. We liked this place as it was very much a typical French town hotel with its own character, and we are hoping to return for a few days in October/November. Easy rail/bus access to Carcassonne and local villages....only 1 euro per trip!!
Cons: We were in the apartment block across from the main hotel. A very well renovated building, but there appeared to be no heating in the building or in the rooms. Not a problem for us in June, but may be a bit cold in winter.
7.9 Good
Pros: Excellent evening meal, waiter was very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Facilities were ok but tired. Needs some love and attention
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location in the town square was very good. The meals were ok, nothing special. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom new although the quality of finish could have been better.
Cons: The property was being refurbished so there was some disturbance from the room next to mine plus my room hadn't been decorated after some re-plastering and a new bathroom. The lighting on the stairs was poor and the switch poorly positioned when leaving the room so that you were walking in the dark.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Pierre and his wife run a great little hotel which is old style and it really works well. The restaurant is fantastic and you can sit inside and out.Always enjoy staying here and will return later in the year
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice friendly, down-to-earth town centre cafe/hotel/restaurant. Not the Ritz Hotel, but not their prices. Friendly, comfortable and everything worked. It's on the main square, which is beautiful and buzzy.
Cons: Nothing really.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location and lovely clean rooms
