The property had a very homey feeling, felt very comfortable. Excellent breakfast, cooked to order. Sam is great host. I will be back, next time for hopefully longer than one night. Pros: Lovely people, great breakfast, would return
Cons: Steps
9.6 Excellent
Pros: harbour view from bay window was lovely and we could not fault the breakfast. all in a real nice place to stay. good location
Cons: steps to the guest house but I use a walking stick
6.7 Good
Pros: Good location, right in the centre of Looe, but then Looe is such a small town that it's not too long a walk from any guest house. Nice view from the window. The bloke who ran it was quite friendly.
Cons: The room was a bit small and basic. Wasn't overly keen on any of the other guests. Mostly tended to be thick, middle aged northern blokes talking about beer and football with their equally dim wives. They were all a bit limited for conversation. Also, there was a kebab shop right next to the hotel, which meant it attracted a lot of drunken morons well into the early hours of the night, who tended to speak to each other as though they were trying to carry their voices to the other side of Australia. But this was the fault of the hotel's location, rather than the hotel itself. plus the sort of guests who stayed there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location with lovely views from the front patio.
Cons: Nothing, it's superb.
7.5 Good
Pros: The owner was very welcoming. The property location was excellent.

Cons: There was absolutely nothing not to like!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is amazing one of the best I have been to in a while. The staff are all so polite and ready to do almost anything for you.
Cons: There was a delivery of building materials at 8am right next to my room. Think maybe 9am would be better.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It was fine. The food was outstanding. The staff excellent . Great location
Cons: I personally think it needs decluttering. So many art objects, some of which were interesting, but it was all a bit much. They took away from the beauty of the location and made one feel overwhelmed by the kitschiness, particularly the outside statuary. Less is more!

C$ 115+
Overview Reviews

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Just a one-night stay ... and an early departure before breakfast ... will definitely stay again when in the area
Cons: I was entirely satisfied
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room is very cozy, with everything needed. Breakfast was sensational with continental options and lots of on demand cooked options. Beds were comfy. There is parking on site. The staff was super lovely.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: The guest house had been taken over. Despite a confirmatory phone call a week before my visit, the opportunity to inform me was not taken. We arrived to locked doors, a no vacancies sign and no answer to the bell or telephone.
Cons: The lack of a courtesy call informing me that bookings were either cancelled or unable to be honored so that alternative accommodation could be find prior to the time of our visit.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly owners, nothing was too much trouble. good knowledge of Cornwall.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming family run B and B. I turned up on a bicycle and they were happy to accommodate me and keep my bike safe overnight. Room was big enough and spotlessly clean.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly hospitality from the new owners. Excellent breakfast. Good parking facility on site.
Cons: All bedrooms are not en suite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good welcome. We asked for an early breakfast on one of the mornings and they were happy to accommodate. All went smoothly, and they offered additional hot chocolate sachets for the kids. Breakfast was a properly done essential English fry-up with choice of eggs. En-suite shower had a good pressure.
Cons: Limited cooked breakfast options. We need to take into account they only took over the business 3 weeks ago and are new to B&B, so actually lots of credit needs to be given to them for the quick start. Some other offers might be simpler dishes like just beans on toast, or two eggs on toast, which might also prove popular with younger children or those with smaller appetites.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was perfect for what we wanted, walking distance from somewhere good to eat (The King Doniert pub), and good road access to where we wanted to go during the day. The owners couldn't have been more helpful, and really went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Breakfast was very enjoyable, everything we could possibly want, very tasty and prepared very quickly.
Cons: The new owners had been in the property for exactly four weeks when we stayed there, and they have clearly been left some work by the previous owners; mostly down to general wear and tear, and availability of facilities such as WiFi (it was available, but a little hit and miss depending on where you were). It would be unfair to criticise the new owners, as they are clearly committed to providing the best experience for their guests, and they have plans to update the property throughout. They just cannot get all of the little problems sorted out at once.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Hospitality was first class from Sue and her boys. Highly recommended by me!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The Owners were interesting and very helpful and friendly

Pros: The breakfast was excellent the room was immaculate
Cons: allthough the room was very clean it was quite small, but met our needs, some attention to detail should be made regarding the white paint around the bright green door as however painted it got white gloss onto the door which didn’t look professional, maybe some entertainment on an evening would be an idea

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the setting and found it very relaxing.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like we just wish that our friends had stayed with us. But there was no way on the site to see what rooms were available. It caused a lot of problems especially for me as I have lung cancer. We did have a place to leave our luggage in town but the hills made things difficult with moving luggage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The extra mile...Dad’s very muddy shoes were dried and cleaned ready for the next day, Dad’s special request for a light "dinner" of pancakes (crepes) with lemon and sugar, as opposed to the offered omelette, was met and more than exceeded expectations.

Pros: The place was ok, standard B&B. But the owner never leaves you alone, and is constantly in your face, irritating you by trying to start long, boring conversation. After a while you try and avoid him at all costs, but usually unsuccessfully.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property, great location and a lovely short walk into the town. Amazing hotelier couldn't do enough for you and knew so much, excellent local knowledge. Friendly and welcoming. A great breakfast, where you can order what you like. Safe parking. Excellent small touches in the room, like fruit, chocolate, a fridge. Would definitely recommend and would go back.
5.4 Okay
Pros: All was average and ok. No better or worse than one would expect from a B&B. Unfortunately the owner never stops talking and irritating the guests. You can't move without him appearing and start talking!
Cons: The constant bugging by the owner!
4.6 Okay
Cons: Very old fashioned too expensive could get a good hotel with lifts etc for that price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was super can find fault xx
Cons: Brilliant place , amazing welcome, definitely going again xx
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The proprietor was very helpful friendly and made the extra effort to make us welcome

6.3 Good
Pros: Extra touches sweets, fruit. King bed comfy. Host gave lots of history about area and very friendly.
Cons: Shower too small nowhere to put soap etc in superior room. Storage rack rusty in king room. Seating outside not good standard and is first impression of property.
6.3 Good
Pros: Close to town - very convenient spot with parking. Friendly host.
Cons: Wasn't clean.
7.9 Good
Pros: Location was perfect for us.
Cons: Car parking very tight and locked chain not necessary in my opinion.

Pros: The whole experience was very much a quality, well thought out and hospitable one. From the staffs positive attention to the outstanding food and the warm comfortable accommodation to the proprietors welcome and service. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We'll be going back every year for sure.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful place to stay with a team of staff who were all first class. So friendly and happy to help. Could not do enough for you. Room thoroughly refreshed every day and lovely breakfast each morning. Cant wait to stay there again
Cons: N/a
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was the best that we had in our 2 week journey through the UK. The view from our room was the property sign and the British flag waving in the wind. I loved it!
Cons: There were a lot of stairs, albeit on a few steps each, from the parking area to our particular room. Although it would not pose a challenge for travelers of any age, it was difficult for us to navigate getting 3 large and heavy bags into our room. This could have been rectified by use simply asking for a more convenient room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The meals, especially the breakfast (the Hoggs Pudding was new to us and excellent) , were outstanding - well done !
Cons: We are not used to or keen on having breakfast with dogs in the same room - we feel it is not necessary for such a short period and that owners should be more considerate. Dogs in pub bars is one thing - a breakfast room is another ! This situation is not a Jubilee issue - just the owners of the dog !
6.7 Good
Pros: the breakfast was good and plenty off it
Cons: the beds were not to comfortable
7.5 Good
Pros: Room comfortable, staff friendly, food good
Cons: Little dated in room, banging doors and sometimes struggled to park
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything as expected we had read the reviews before booking. However nobody had mentioned how attentive the staff were from management to waiters and waitresses for this I give five stars.
Cons: The rooms are a little dated but were very clean. Five stars to the housekeeper and her son.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast first class. The pub and evening meal excellent.
Cons: Rooms on the roadside can be a little noisy.

7.1 Good
Pros: Views from the room and balcony.
Cons: Room was not serviced during out two night stay. Wording in the guest guide was unnecessary and off putting, resulting in our going to a different hotel for our evening meals.
7.5 Good
Pros: Liked the comfort and view from the lounges. Liked the general quiet atmosphere throughout ( no music or radio ) Liked the sea views from our room and the balcony was a wonderful extension to the room. The breakfasts were superb.
Cons: The floor surface of the balcony had not been swept and was scattered with moss and wind blown twigs . The threshold framework to the French door needs a clean. The expected robes were not provided. We didn't ask for them as we were not bothered,
5.4 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was good. A toaster in the breakfast room would have allowed us to organise our own toast, instead of waiting for the toast to come from the kitchen.
Cons: Our double room was a total disappointment. Much too small & very shabby, with very limited room to move around. The ensuite was also very small, and very much in need of some T.L.C. The toilet system often needed persuasion to function properly! The balcony was the best part of the deal - sea view spectacular. The double room without sea view & occupied by a single family member, was spacious, and the ensuite equally so. Much better value for money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent
Cons: Television could be larger
8.3 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Welcoming staff, great beer and food
9.6 Excellent
Cons: Comfortable stay in large bedroom with ample bathroom including a luxurious hot bath. Recommended Good breakfast and friendly staff
7.1 Good
Pros: It’s real, honest and very quiet. The people are nice but just going through the motions.
Cons: I liked it overall, but it’s run down and they need to try a bit harder. The place needs a good clean everywhere.
6.7 Good
Pros: Quiet locations
Cons: No hot water in the morning, not enough toilet paper
7.5 Good
Pros: It's a beautiful little village with a lot going for it. The hotel is also the village pub, there's a school and a church and a really useful SPAR supermarket which doubles as a Post Office and a chippy! Sausage and chips for £1.95! There must be a very switched on Parish Council there. Everything was very clean and there was a green with play equipment. The hotel itself is a beautiful, period, olde worlde building and the room was opulent with an en-suite almost as big as the bedroom. It was all very quiet and peaceful. There was cask ale in the bar and you can sit in the dining room if you don't like the down to earth atmosphere of the bar. The breakfast was well worth the extra £6 as it set you up for the day, thereby saving time and the need to look for lunch. A combination of breakfast and the aforementioned sausage and chips did me fine with perhaps a sandwich or two somewhere along the road. All the usual things were good and it was good value for what you get. If it wasn't for the complicated journey there, I would stay again for the same price.
Cons: It was further from the station than I had expected. There is a station called Menheniot and on the map it's about a mile away, which even with a stick and a large pack is still within my compass, but it is a narrow, sunken country lane and a very steep hill up. Fortunately I was forewarned by the property and finished up getting a taxi from Liskeard which cost £8. There is a bus, but it doesn't run in the evening or on Sunday. I used it going back on Monday and it was efficient and cost only £2.30. Access into the village from all directions is by narrow country lanes. The bus met a lorry in one such and had to back about half a mile!
7.9 Good
Pros: Rustic old feeling property. Nice little village. Bar was pleasant.
Cons: Shower in the bath was a tad awkward as I'm a tall guy
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good stay, few odd bits need tweaking but value for money.
Cons: Difficult to get on WiFi and a tv signal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a village location some 4 miles from Liskeard that was great for me . A good friendly well presented inn and the customers are happy to talk to you about your day over a pint. There are two types of Breakfast available ,cereal ,coffee and toast or a Full English . Evening meals had a good selection and were plentiful . I would certainly return there if I was in the vicinity.
Cons: Cornwall and Devon have some very narrow back roads that can get a bit hairy

1.0 Poor
Pros: Staff quite friendly, Nice power shower
Cons: The road up to the Hotel from Main Road full of big pot holes, in the dark you could ruin Car Suspension. There was a doggy smell as soon as you came in. In the Breakfast info description - it says Full English - but you only get basic Continental? (No Fruit?) Cooked breakfast was extra - if I had known that I would not have booked. The Wi-Fi in the room was non existent There was No Wardrobe to hang your clothes
7.1 Good
Pros: Great staff and location And good breakfast
Cons: Too much noise from doors slamming till 2am rooms look very tired needs a good make over
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was beautiful, hobbit huts were clean, warm and room enough for four. Showers were ok. Charlie in the bar was a lovely lady, thoughtful and entertaining.
Cons: The track up the hill was a bit of a task for heavy cruisers, wouldn’t want to do it in the dark but once you knew the best route to avoid all the pot holes it was a breeze.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good food. Friendly staff. Lovely getaway.
Cons: NA
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Awful, don’t go. Dirty run down shouldn’t be trading!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was very quiet, relaxed family & pet friendly. The food is amazing, the owners & staff are very welcoming. There Jams & Chutneys are awesome. Our Dog was allowed in the restaurant with us which enabled us all to eat together. The walks around the hotel are really good. They have sheep & chickens which we ate their eggs for breakfast.
Cons: It was all good. We stayed 2 nights without incident. We had cooked breakfast both mornings & dinner both nights.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The location is amazing with fantastic views
Cons: The whole site is in need of maintenance/coat of paint and a good clean of the paths. The chalets could do with some TLC, showers and WC building needs updating and the paths/trees needed raking or trimming.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: No proper fridge in the hut or on site to store food in
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The friendliness of everyone & how helpful they were showing us maps & how to see the area. Comfy bed & yummy food.
Cons: The shower basin almost overflowed, even though the force of the water was below par. At least it was hot.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: After a very lovely evening meal we had little room for cooked breakfast so went continental all local food GREAT
