Pros: Maloka Barlovento is a bliss. Beautiful preserved nature, absolute peacefulness, tasteful local design in the room, tasty and health family style food, three empty beaches, one delightful swimming pool, very accommodating and discreet staff. Treat yourself, go spend 5 days in this charming property. And don’t forget to say Hi to Roberto, their funny parrot!
Pros: Most stunning location and fantastic food
Cons: the pool could use a clean and the shuttle service should be reviewed (we were charged more by the taxi driver than the advertised price halfway through the ride which made for a very uncomfortable experience for us).
Pros: Incredible location between the river and the ocean. Quiet & relaxing, great service (and massage), great breakfasts & dinners. Los Angeles beach is beautiful. Would love to come back again
Cons: In an isolated location so hard to explore nearby areas without your own transportation
Pros: Stunning location, breathtaking
Pros: The property is absolutely stunning - your surrounded by nature with incredible views of the beach and river! The food, pool and staff were all wonderful as well. It's also only a 5 minute drive to the parque tayrona entrance. Everything exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend staying here!
Pros: The location is perfect: 5 min by bus of Tayrona’s Zaino entrance. The hotel is next to a small lovely beach and the long Playa Los Angeles is 5 min walk away only. The main building is really nice, with a stunning view over the river and sea. The food is fresh and tasty: we had some of our nicest dinners there!
Cons: The decoration of the rooms is very simple, and the showers could be slightly improved. But this is very easily forgotten as the place is a small heaven!
Pros: - The hotel is stylish, chic and on the beach & river - view on both mountains and sea. - Closed to Tayrona park’s entrance. - Amazing location for sunset - Breakfast and Dinner were very tasty and with generous portions - Family feeling. - Staff were very kind and helpfull (Marta) - Special Thanks to the Owner who Made our stay magical for our honey moon - Thank you Nathalie! Hotel was above expectations, we decided to extended our stay from 2 to 3 nights. We spent 4 weeks in Colombia and this hotel was the best!
Pros: The utmost aspect is its location both on the ocean both on Rio Piedras
Cons: Everything was perfect
Pros: The location is incredible! After 3 weeks of backpacking Colombia, staying here was breathtaking and definitely blew me away. The food, the staff, the rooms, the facilities, the massage, transportation, etc., were all amazing. Will absolutely recommend to everyone!
Pros: The extreme care for superb service down to the smallest detail, great food and gorgeous rooms!
With a stay at Posada Villa Margarita in Santa Marta, you'll be a 4-minute drive from Tayrona National Natural Park and 9 minutes from Quebrada Valencia Waterfall. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Great SPace lovely personnel. Only thing missing is the air condition in the room
Pros: Very friendly owners and staff. Lovely green outdoor area, nice little pool with an ocean view. We had also a balcony which had an outdoor sitting area. We were allowed to leave our bags when we went for one night to Tayrona.
Cons: The room was quite hot and dark, but there were fans. Water in the shower was quite coldish. You could hear the trucks passing down the road. It's a bit of a climb to get up to the reception and the rooms, not very pleasant if you have heavy bags/suitcases.
Pros: Wonderful spot to calm down after an intense day of hiking at Tayrona Park. Beautiful facilities and really nice breakfast! Bus drive away from the park. The view from the pool is amazing.
Cons: Can be a bit hard to find at first when it's dark outside. Instructions could be more clear.
Pros: Good situation, near Tayrona. Beautiful hotel, nice room. Personnel attentionné, bel espace extérieur.
Cons: Near the main road, a lot of noise. + The shrimps spaghetti probably make one of us sick. Like a bad tourista. The shrimps tasted weird and got sick pretty soon after it.
Pros: The place is beautiful and there is a lovely little walk down to the beach. The staff were super helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend
Pros: The hotel is very beautiful and Jose was very attentive. I appreciated that there were beach towels that we could change out every day. The hotel is very quiet and peaceful. It has a great view.
Cons: The food can be better. We stayed there for 4 days and 3 nights and had the same breakfast haha. It would be great to have arepas, huevos perico, and other Colombian dishes for breakfast. Is there a possibility where the hotel can help guests bring their luggage up the stairs?
Pros: Best breakfast we had in Colombia, nicest hosts we had in Colombia, nicest place we stayed at in Colombia. Close to Tayrona National Park and a 5 minutes walk from shops, and the beach. Had an excellent stay! Extremely good Mojitos!!!
Cons: Big waves on the beach, not so suitable for swimming.
Pros: Gorgeous location, super tranquil, food was simple but extremely delicious and many options! Room had large bed with mosquito net and fan, private bathroom with shower (cold water), and little patio with hammock. Beach just a very short block away with bar and restaurants that you could charge to your room and plenty of chairs, though you have to be careful going into the water due to strong currents
Pros: Much attention is put into the trees and gardens making the property beautiful.
Cons: Our room had a cheap home made door which could be upgraded
Pros: The owner was so lovely The fruit for breakfast one of the days was delicious on another day less so. Loved my room with a terrace and hammock and facing the tropical forest.
Cons: The only thing I was not as happy about was a shrimp dish that I had. I thought the shrimp may have been frozen instead of fresh but can't verify that.
Located in Santa Marta, Tayrona Paradise is within a 15-minute drive of Tayrona National Natural Park and Cristal Beach. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. A shuttle from the hotel to the airport is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Staff was truly amazing! Always there for questions (it helps to know some Spanish). The owner even organized a ride to our next hotel and saved us a lot of cost and effort ordering a cab from Santa Marta. Close to Tayrona Park entry (5 min bus ride). Nice gardens. Moskito nets not only over the bed but also at the windows.
Cons: Mosquito net was a bit dirty, but the owner promised to look after it when we told him at checkout. You have to be clear about the fact that you’re at the edge of a tropical forest. This goes along with the occasional cockroach and other insects around and sometimes in the room as well. But as told before there is a net around the bed and at the windows which limits insects in the room.
Pros: Location was great. Very nice and relaxing. Carlos was a fantastic host. Food was good. We stayed in one of the bungalows the bed was super comfy!
Cons: The shower was cold and wasn't very powerful.
Pros: Exeptional .....met all mi expectacions x comfort cleanines and exelent service sad to go.
Pros: Amazing accommodation, we slept in one of the “cheaper” rooms but actually liked it most. They were open so you could hear the rain and the animals around, it was made out of beautiful wood. Everything was nice and tidy. Dinner was good and breakfast as well, nothing special. The owner is super nice and helps you with everything he can. We left our luggage there for a two days trip to tayrona which was super easy going.
Cons: When we booked, we got a message from the location which described the way to the hotel. It sounded super complicated - which it actually isn’t. It’s very very easy to find the way and the bus driver from the route from Santa Marta also knows where they need to drop you off. From the street it takes maybe 5 minutes to the hotel. Be aware that booking.com says the property handles all payments but it actually doesn’t. You need to pay at the location.
Pros: The staff (in particular Carlos) was beyond helpful and kind to us during our stay! He helped us feel right at home and help us have the best stay ever. Carlos was incredibly patient with our lack of Spanish and took the time to give us tips and info into the rest of our travels around Colombia. The property was so lovely, an oasis. Very tranquil. Only a short easy bus ride to the Tayrona National Park.
Cons: The rooms did not have a tv or fridge (as mentioned in the booking) but you’re in such a peaceful environment and the staff was more than happy to help with all matters that it wasn’t really a problem. No hot water in the shower but we found out this was normal for this part of the country!
Pros: Beautifully designed cabins, friendly staff, comfy bed
Pros: Lovely eco hotel, beautiful room and surrounds, very kind and helpful owner, wonderful stay
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location to visit Tayrona park. Interesting path to hotel. We had two young children and lots of bags but I called ahead and they arranged a man to come and help which was useful. Def should not put you off booking here. Food was quite nice. Loads of mangos everywhere so lots you can eat.
Cons: Social area is very small by television. If there is someone in there already we felt a little bit like we were invading their space. No shared kitchen if you are looking for accomodation where you can prepare your own meals.
Pros: Very friendly Nice helpful staff + easy to get to the entrance of parque tayrona ! Nice natural Hotsprings
With a stay at Villa Maria Tayrona, a Kali Hotel in Santa Marta, you'll be by the ocean, within a 10-minute drive of Tayrona National Natural Park and Quebrada Valencia Waterfall. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Air conditioning!!! Rooms with Views! The front desk staff!!! The hummingbirds! So much to love about this place!
Pros: Staff and location
Cons: Breakfast very poor Wifi not working in the room We were expecting a nicer view from the room as we booked the best one You can’t see the sunset from anywhere The bungalow with sea view is not as it looks in the pictures
Pros: Very cool property, loved the huts we stayed in. Very clean. Rooms were big and bed was comfy. Wonderful view of the area, including the sea, from our bed! Staff were super helpful
Cons: WiFi was (understandably) very patchy. Food was ok.. not wonderful but certainly not bad either.
Pros: Villa Maria is 5 minutes away from the entrance of Tayrona park. The bungalows are in the middle of the nature, we had the one with sea view and was very peaceful. The rooms are nice and very spacious, with a little garden around and an amaca.
Cons: Me and my sister arrived early around 8.00 am at Villa Maria just to drop the luggages and go to the Tayrona park to spend the day. After giving the passport to the guy at the desk he advised us that our room was number 7 but we didn’t take the keys, we just left the luggages in front of the reception and we directly went to do the trail of Tayrona. After a long day in the park and 4h walking, we went back to the hotel around 5:00 pm, expecting that our belongings were in the rooms. It was raining, the reception is covered but open and the bags were still in the same place we left them at 8:00 in the morning, umid of course. Around happy hour time we asked if we could have a drink in the terrace and the waitress replied to us in a very rude way, without caring. During the happy hour and the dinners nobody cared about us, we had to call many times the waiters to ask water, the menu, etc. Also when we finished eating we stayed another 40 minutes and nobody removed our plates or check on us if we would liked something else. We left and that’s it. It happened the same the day after during breakfast, in general the people were not friendly at all. We have been completely ignored by the staff during all our stay. The WiFi is not working in the rooms and it is barely working at the reception and at the restaurant. The bungalow was very nice but we could hear every single step of the people of the room above us. In general we are very disappointing, the structure and the park is amazing for the nature around you, it’s a very peaceful place. Unfortunately the service is very bad for that kind of hotel and the price we spent.
Pros: Stuff was very helpful. Shuttle service to Park Tayrona worked very well Beach area is great and solely available to hotel guests Lot of animals around the hotel area (parrots, turtles & colibris). This Hotel was an adventure, I would defintitely go there again!
Cons: Food was okay, not outstanding but fairly priced (no english speaker in the restaurant)
Pros: First off, I feel like booking.com has underrated this place. This place is ABOVE AND BEYOND what I was expecting. The pictures do not do it justice! The room was great. Very spacious and lots of room for all my things. All rooms/villas come with a huge balcony with a hammock and extra chairs. Again, very spacious. I had an ocean view room and it was spectacular. The location is great, although about 15min. north of the main entrance to Tayrona Park. At first, I was disappointed to learn this, however, the hotel offers a free ride and pick up to and from the park everyday (set hours). So even better! The bathroom was amazing and the property overall is so peaceful. You feel like you’re in the middle of the rainforest but with excellent amenities. The staff was super friendly and accommodating.
Cons: I loved everything about this place! I have no negative reviews here. I will say this place is very romantic. Great for groups and couples. I didn’t mind being here solo but it’s definitely a nice place to come with a +1.
Pros: Nice Location at the Jungle, nice bridge to get to the rooms, clean rooms.
Cons: Breakfast could have been a bit better but nothing really serious, was good enough.
Pros: Nice hotel very near National Park. Expected more for my money. Food very average. Service poor at breakfast but excellent at dinner. Nice pool. Private beach but no towels on beach and not enough recliners. Reception staff very good.
Cons: Staff need more training. Better food for the price.
Pros: The ambience in the tropical forest is fantastic. I liked the eco style of the whole complex. If you like the natural forest world and observing the the tropical birds this is a great place to come.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
Pros: This is an unforgettable experience. Stay in amazing bungalows in what feels like the middle of the jungle. The tranquility at night is a rare experience in Colombia. Waking up to the birdsong in the morning is just perfect.
Cons: The trek to our cabin was a solid 5-10 minute walk from the property entrance (and you feel every one of those minutes in the humidity of the area). The service in the restaurant was very slow and some of the restaurant service staff were a bit rude. The menu choice was limited. I had the impression that the hotel takes advantage of the captive market (once you're on-site you're unlikely to eat elsewhere due to the distance).
Pros: Quite, packed with green every where you look at, rooms are ver comfortable, hot water is an amazing treat. Food is fairly ok
Cons: Rooms are very far away from restaurant. They could have coffee makers in each room

At Hotel Casa Barlovento you will find a garden, a terrace and a bar. The property offers free parking. The hotel is 3.2 km from Tayrona Park and 40 km from Santa Marta main square. Pros: Everything was perfect The landscape is just amazing You have access to a few amazing beaches You can see a few animals from the jungle The hotel is very nice and the food is awsome Maybe the best food i ever had in such a place Paola did a great work, always smiling and helpful even if we did not speak Spanish She is perfect !! We fully recommend this place
Pros: Amazing location, stunning views and luxurious common areas with infinity pool and relaxing lounge area.
Cons: Nothing to dislike
Pros: Beautiful location, very peaceful.Great food and wonderful staff.A perfect place to relax.
Pros: Rude behavior, obviously reception more interested in cellphone and laptop (watching film)than in their clients Enormous contrast with Maloka where staff was outstanding
Pros: The most amazing views from the room and common areas. Excellent food (I would recommend going half board as there aren't many other options for eating close by). Staff very friendly, creating a relaxed atmosphere.
Cons: The WiFi didn't stretch to the bedroom. The wine was expensive, so stick to beer which is cheap!
Pros: Superb view, 2 beautiful pools with view, very comfortable seating areas (including a padded canoe!), charming and helpful staff, lovely grounds, private beach, access to PNN tayrona by a very short walk, good value drinks, huge portions, good seafood, efficient air conditioning, stunning view from room, lovely balcony, plentiful wildlife in the surrounding area, good lunch recommendation.
Cons: Hard bed, cold shower, communal eating, undercooked pancakes, gate to beach often locked.
Pros: The location and atmosphere of the hotel was absolutely magical. The service is of great quality as much as the food is. But what really made the trip special for us was the staff, Paola was absolutely nice, efficient and sweet. Definitely recommend!!
Pros: Staff had good intentions but unfortunately good intentions alone aren't always sufficient when you don't have the proper infrastructure or the systems in place to run a place like this.
Cons: None of the staff spoke any English not even at a very basic level. They required a few hours notice for any meals at the hotel and even then the service was quite slow. The towels in the rooms were not clean. There were problems with the electricity in the room - some of the plugs weren't working at all due to problems with fuse box. The A/C wasn't usable for one of the two nights we stayed there. Given the heat and humidity in Tayrona, a properly functioning A/C is essential and hence we asked for some kind reimbursement or a gesture of goodwill for that one night. Although we were offered a new room this was after the fact and our request for reimbursement was not taken seriously and dismissed. At checkout, we had a relatively modest oustanding balance (c. £25 for a booking value of £450 - i.e. c. 5%) and we tried to pay with a credit card but the machine did not have any signal and hence couldn't pay. Staff insisted that we somehow settle this instead of providing this as a gesture of goodwill. We did not have any cash so we had to go to the hotel next door, pay them with our cards and allow the 2 hotels to settle between themselves...
Pros: Our stay at Casa Barlovento was brilliant- the hotel is beautifully located and the rooms pristine and very spacious. Paola was exceptionally helpful and kind. The food was excellent and plentiful, make sure the pre-order if you want to eat dinner at the hotel. There are a couple of restaurants round the corner on the next beach for lunch. Would 100% come back!
Pros: Location was breathtaking. Pool was nice and with lots of places to relaxt. Food was ok. Special thanks to Paula who made sure we had everyting we needed. Verry kind!! Ask paula for all in Taxi (Ramon) to Tayrona. 60.000 Pesos. Nicest guy ever.

Pros: This place is heaven, most beautiful beach in Colombia, completely hidden from tourist paths.. Wonderful Sleeping with the sound of the waves Unique experience Eco friendly
Pros: If you like silence, water, waves and poetry, this is definitively your place. On ofe those few places right next to the beach. Glamping, food, jugos - everything perfect for a relaxing stay surrounded by nice people. Great view from the mirador as well! The price is really good for what you get here.
Cons: There is nothing to complain.
Pros: Best place to just chill next to the beach, with hamacs and restaurant/bar
Cons: Room really hot. No wifi.
Pros: Nice location, great camping with all the facilities but not Wifi. Great to disconnect and enjoy the nature
Pros: The location here is amazing. You walk off the main road into the property, and you feel totally isolated on this beach in the middle of the jungle. Our glamping tent had wood-framed walls, and was tall enough to stand in, with spots to hang our clothes, etc. The fruit smoothies were amazing, and the food was actually pretty good too with lots of options. We stayed for four days and didn't get sick of it! Beach is amazing, lots of trees all around, a great lookout to walk up to, comfortable bed, clean sheets (they did a turn down service our 3rd and 4th days and gave us fresh sheets/towels on the 3rd day).
Cons: There was only 1 female and 1 male toilet, and 1 shower to share for all of the glampers. They were in the middle of doing renos, so this will be improved, but at the moment when it is busy it is a bit inconvenient. We maintained a tab to pay at the end of the stay with the ladies at the restaurant. When we went to pay, the bill was higher than the amounts I had kept tabs of in my notebook. There were a few "Extra" items on our tab. I am not sure if this was a mistake or not (I hope so, because they were so sweet), but I was pretty upset. They allowed us to remove a few items so we got down to within 7000.00 Pesos of the amount I had in my notebook, but I couldn't differentiate between which fruit juices I had or hadn't had, so we paid a bit extra. If you are keeping a tab at the bar, make sure to also keep notes of your own! They charge 5% to pay with credit, which is a bit steep.
Pros: The beach is spectacular
Cons: Food is average. Portions are small
Pros: Wild experience. Very close to nature. The review can change based on expectations. If you are looking for comfort this is not the right place for you.
Cons: I woke up with a cockroach on my neck. I know it’s not the hotel’s fault as it’s in the middle of the jungle, however this is what happened unfortunately.
Pros: Very well located near Tayrona parc. The glamping-tents are really nice and are located at the beach. Very good food and lots of choice in the restaurant.
