10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we entered the expansive property we were totally charmed and delighted. The warm and welcoming owners and staff have considered every detail to make their guests stay exceptional - a lavish buffet breakfast set up on the shaded terrace, with views that made us want to stay forever! Comfortable, elegant and perfectly equipped rooms, wifi that works well everywhere on the property, a cool refreshing big pool surrounded by cushioned loungers. We arrived rather late on the first day of our stay, and Francois, the owner, made reservations for us in the wonderful village of Cucuron, 2 km away. The second night we didn't want to leave the property - it's just too beautiful to go anywhere else! So the staff prepared a delicious cold dinner of cheeses, smoked fish, tomatoes, local wine and we sat and watched the sun set over the lush Luberon valley. This is an exceptional place and we can't wait to return!
Cons: Not a thing!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful views, peaceful location, very large room, large (180cm?) comfortable bed, good air conditioning in the bedroom, nice large swimming pool with plenty of day beds and offering both sun and shade, good choice of croissants and other pastries for buffet breakfast taken on the terrace outside. Close to Lourmarin and Cucuron for good choice of restaurants.
Cons: If the weather had not been fine enough to eat breakfast outside on the lovely terrace area then the inside breakfast area consisted of one quite large oval table in the reception area not really large enough to take a full house of guests in comfort. Luckily this did not happen during our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful secluded place, run by a wonderful, warm, friendly pair. A daily breakfast is a true feast. Fantastic fruit, great cheeses and fish is accompanied by cakes out of this world. Don't miss almond cake from a local bakery. Nina radiates warmth. Francois is a walking encyclopedia.
Cons: I could not think of anything that could be done better.
6.7 Good
Pros: Good location, friendly staff (special mention to Melissa), great breakfast
Cons: The hotel is clean but a little bit run down, not a very good value for money
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Totally recommend to stay at this amazing place. The view is stunning, the atmosphere is totally relaxing, the breakfast is outstanding, but the most important is the very welcoming and friendly owners. 10 out of 10!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so friendly
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing - the location, the room, the wonderful view and excellent and extensive breakfast. Nothing was too much for the owners and their staff, and we were incredibly sad to leave.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The very pleasant owners and the friendly and helpful staff made us feel very welcome and „home“. The breakfast outside under the old pine trees was very enjoyable!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything we wonderful. the breakfast, the facilities, the staff, everything. This was our second stay and we'll be staying there again.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Our stay at Elephant was amazing. The hosts, Nina and François, are the sweetest hosts you can expect. Our little curious and chatty boy was always around them and they never seemed to be annoyed, on the contrary. The house and its perfect location/view were a little piece of heaven to us. Finally, the breakfast and the member of staff who was taking care of it were absolutely fantastic. Thanks a lot. We will be back...if you don't mind us!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent staff, really great food and nice surroundings. Would have liked to stay for another night.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel in a beautiful garden setting, with pool (weather too cool for us to use), & easy chairs for relaxing. Very spacious room, nicely furnished and comfortable bed. Good, well-equipped bathroom.
Cons: No desk in bedroom to use laptop. The lighting in the room was too dim for practical purposes--atmosphere over functionality. We had looked forward to eating in the hotel's main restaurant, which has a good reputation, However, it was closed on the night of our visit, which we were not made aware of when we booked the room and requested a table that night for dinner. Dinner, such as it was, was served in a casual bistro-style space with very limited and not very inspiring food although a very expensive wine list. Staff were perfunctory rather than warm and welcoming. The location requires a car, as it is too far out of Lourmarin and not at all close to Cadenet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a terrific staff and beautiful property! Exceptional food and wine list! Great rooms. Very bio! As they say in Michelin, this is worth a special trip!!
10.0 Excellent

9.6 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful hotel in a former mill. Very well situated I Lourmarin. A beautiful, comfortable room.
Cons: No facilities to make tea or coffee
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfasts were a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The croissants are baked on the premises and the best I've ever had the pleasure of eating. The waitress was friendly, as were the reception staff. We had a lovely large, well appointed room which overlooked the cafe below. Lourmarin is a delightful village, one of the prettiest in the Luberon and one steps out of the foyer into the village. Highly recommended!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building, full of character in great position for village. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Great views of chateau opposite.
Cons: Bathroom was a little tired. Not a lot of choice for breakfast
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location for us attending a wedding between Aix and Lourmarin. Very nice sized room with sitting area by the bathroom and separate toilet near the bedroom.
Cons: Parking is difficult in Lourmarin and the hotel had no designated spots(which I knew before arrival).
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I really liked the rustic French style of this boutique style hotel (which is actually quite large but doesn't feel like it) which is in a great location with some gorgeous views across the French countryside. Rooms were small but charming and the bed and bed linen super comfortable. The hotel has a lovely courtyard restaurant where we had dinner one night - the food was exceptional and the setting very romantic. I thought the food was very good value for money and the servings were extremely generous. All the staff at this hotel are friendly and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very pleasant village
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very attentive, polite, and very responsive, from the cleaning gals to the front desk to the restaurant. The building is an old olive mill so the layout is a little quirky but works nicely. The A/C works reasonably well even during very hot days. Rooms on the village street side can be loud with people going by but windows are efficient and tune out the noise. I would stay there again and recommend it unless you need a pool.
Cons: The general seating area of the hotel could use some A/C on hot days.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location
6.7 Good
Pros: LOCATION
Cons: CHECK-IN TOO LATE, CHECK-OUT TOO EARLY
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was excellent with car parking outside. Rooms were clean and we had a beautiful balcony. Many restaurants close by

C$ 175+
Overview Reviews
Located in Lourmarin, Ancienne Maison des Gardes is in a rural location, a 3-minute drive from Château de Lourmarin and 7 minutes from Domaine La Cavale.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The cute apartment is very well situated in Lourmarin and the British owners are extremely friendly and welcoming. Our apartment was small, but functional for the little time we spent inside. The beds are comfortable, although we did hit our heads on the very low ceiling above the bed! The kitchen has sufficient facilities to allow self-catering, but all the restaurants are very close.
Cons: The shower is very small and the water spills out onto the floor. The lighting in the bedroom is insuffient, I rather applied make-up in the kitchen where there is some natural light.
7.9 Good
Pros: The self-catering facilities was very good, and the apartment has a lovely atmosphere. The hosts were very friendly and helpful.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, good air con, great views
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect.....the accommodations, the hosts, the location. No complaints! The perfect place to stay while visiting the Luberon.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Robin and Rose were fantastic. Rooms appear to be from and old manor house with great personality. We had a second floor balcony and there is an interior courtyard that all rooms share. Rose made dinner reservations for us at Numero 9 and Robin recommended L’Recreation which are also both highly recommended. Cafe Gaby is a must for breakfast, coffee, lunch, drinks and is the heart beat of the village. The Cave wine shop and Jilbert should not be missed. We also paid our respects to Albert Camus. Lourmarin and it’s 1,000 people is the perfect Provence town. We wanted to stay in Lourmarin forever.
7.1 Good
Pros: Rose was an amazing host. The location was very good!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent and very quiet. We loved walking to the little Bakery to get our baguette ever morning The village location is great to get out and see Provence

Pros: Ideally located in the small village of Lourmarin. Our hosts were exceptionally friendly and we spent time discussing world events over wine and cheese. We wished we could have stayed longer.
Cons: All was good

Pros: Location Swimming pool
Cons: Staff is not empathetic, neither very nice. For example, we had forgotten one towel. They just said "no" without trying to hear our concerns.

Pros: Nice hotel in Vaugines (small village in Luberon). Could be good for several days of relax, good breakfast, view on the valley, swimming pool. Need to have a car to travel in the nearest cities, as in Vaugines there is not a lot of attraction.

Pros: Firstly, Valerie and Andre are wonderful hosts, and the Hostel is a paradise of an oasis in the Luberon, a place where we have stayed for our Family Summer Vacation the past 3-years! We hope to come back for many many years to come. Highly recommended.

Decorated in a contemporary Thai style, this hotel set in an old French bastide welcomes you in a wide park with high trees, river and natural pool with decks and sunbeds. Stay in a quiet and exotic place in the heart of the Provence area. The guest rooms of the Hostellerie Le Paradou offer simple shapes, warm dark colours with a few bright touches, modern Thai furniture or traditional style, teck wook and four-poster beds for some of them. Authentic, light and flavoured Thai cuisine is served in the Bamboothaï restaurant, on the large and shady terrace or in the veranda. The natural swimming pool surrounded by fresh lawns and fitted with wood deck, armchairs and sundecks is the ideal place to unwind.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and proprietors, good menu (Thai cuisine), easy parking, easy access to Luberon villages like Bonnieux. Easy access to forest areas.
Cons: Wasps were a mild annoyance. Apparently this is unusual.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Secluded
Cons: Too much Thay food
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Slow service
Cons: We hurried to arrive before 10 pm check in. We were shown to our “room” which was the family room.. not what we had booked. Next we were shown a double room which had a view of the roof over adjacent building covered in tarps and plastic. Last we were shown a room very basic and told we could have it for less. My wife remarked that it looked terrible .. that we were interested in what we booked. We were then told “you’re not welcome here”. We travel constantly for pleasure this owner ranks with some of the worst.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was very clean, modern and had a/c. The Thai restaurant on the property was excellent!
7.5 Good
Pros: Good budget hotel, room was clean and did the job. Restaurant is outstanding though as well as the surroundings.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I loved the location and the place generally too. Really quiet and the most comfy beds ever. Big plus for the air-conditioning too. I slept so well. 10 min walk to centre and only like 200m unpaved road, I walked to dinner in the centre every evening. Somebody complained there is no service for the hotel. I found this no issue, there is always somebody around and you just need to ask and they help. Got a cold beer, water and a bicycle - just had to ask. Everybody working here is very helpful and friendly.
Cons: The natural pool is really not a pool and you do not feel like dipping in. Otherwise the area with loungers and garden was amazing. So quiet, I loved it. On Friday I had the whole place for me.
