9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice mixed onsen outside and the meals were great. Very friendly staff.
Cons: The place is a bit oldish.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good food, good bedding , good spa, good staff, good boss, everything is good
Cons: Better get rid the dog smell in the elevator.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: First of all, a huge shout-out to staff! Everybody were amazing! Dinner and breakfast were both very good. We had a room with an open air bath on the balcony with the view across the river and it was fantastic. We stayed there in early spring just before cherry blossom but I would dream to relax in that hot tub with the same view during fall foliage.
Cons: The place itself feels just a little bit run down and considering the price we just felt like it was not reasonably priced. Also, there are not many options of getting there. Busses are infrequent and depart either early morning or late in the evening so we had to rent a car in Okayama to get there.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very helpful
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Hakkei is nice. It's located along the river and at the bottom of a dam. It's uncommon to find a mixed-sex onsen nowaday in Japan and you can see one from Hakkei. The owner and the staff was very nice. We're surprised that most of the staff speaks quite good English and we communicate well. The veggies were very fresh from local veggie farm, the way they cook the rice is quite different and yummy! The village that Hakkei located at is rather small though but surrounded by nature. For those who are looking for small and cozy Ryokan, Hakkei is the right place. The owner was specially nice and friendly. She prepared some hard-boiled eggs for us to take away as snacks on the date of our departure.

Cons: Nothing, wish it snowed
9.2 Excellent

Cons: none

7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast and Dinner are perfect. All food taste fresh and the serving staff are so nice and friendly.
Cons: the bedding of bed mattress inside the room are too hard and not soft. My back was painful after 2 nights of stay.
7.0 Good
Pros: Amazing breakfast. Traditional Japanese furnishing for the entire building. Free parking.
Cons: Some minor comments: 1. Must book dinner in advance (and selection of restaurants nearby is very limited). 2. Slightly far away from where the restaurants are (9 mins walk). 3. The hot spring is somewhat underwhelming -- one indoor and one semi-outdoor bath, both very small, no sauna nor cold water bath. However the public bath by the river is free anyways.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff where accommodating, the place was bery beautiful and clean, the hotbaths were perfect. I will definitely come back. A place to stay if you want to escape the busy life in the city and be stress free.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice outdoor Onsen
Cons: A bit far from everything else

6.7 Good
Pros: the onsen were good, staff very nice and spoke english, location interesting. breakfast was good.
Cons: i messaged to enquire about dinner and the reply said ' we will provide cattle cuisine' however on checking in we were told dinner was not provided, but we could buy it for extra charge. i showed them the email that they themselves had sent, but this did not change anything. So we had to find a restaurant for dinner - there are not many at all and this was disappointing to say the least. Therefore as the room charge did not include dinner it was massively overpriced - especially as the room had massive mould patches, and visible damp on the outside wall. Massive and quite disgusting - if we were staying more than one night we would have insisted on another room. Luckily we could section off the outside wall with an internal door. Bathroom and the bedroom area was to standard.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Old hotel yet feels nicely updated and renovated. Traditional tatami mats very comfortable and room has private bath and shower, or there is two Onsen bath in this hotel for separate men and women. Also a very safe and welcoming open air hot onsen is in the river not far from hotel. This river onsen is all sex and all ages and no cost. Do not feel shy here to be free no one will bother you and no one cares. Water changes by nature so it is clean. Four pools in same area of different areas. Also for modest people there are two beautiful foot baths in town
Cons: It is difficult for foreign person to access this area however there is free buss service each way from Okayama train station. The buss trip is quite nice. It is difficult to find about buss on internet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Traditional Japanese style room is very comfortable and beautiful and all staffs are very kind and smily. Also onsen was very nice in open area.
Cons: Breakfast is expansive. Hope make it simple and a bit low price.
