Breakfast was nice for what it was. The room was upgraded as there were not many guests but for the price I would have expected this anyway. It was clean. The housekeeper was lovely as were the friendly staff especially the gent on arrival and the lady on Sunday. One reception person on Saturday didn't appear to be as good as the rest and spent a long time chatting to a lady on the sofa in reception we think may have been an interview. The remaining staff were very helpful and made great efforts to speak English. This seemed to be a problem and would have thought reception would be fluent. Food was nice but expensive. The garden was nice especially the little terrace.
Facilities not as advertised. Would not have gone there had we known it was closing. Didn't feel very festive. Also having to ring staff if we needed anything after pm. I thought I booked room and breakfast but it was only room. The breakfast was £13 euros which was expensive and not much hot food left when we came to the dining room. Didn't like having to boil my own egg so didn't have one. There was no breakfast available on our last morning as the hotel was closing for the Christmas period and as there was nowhere else to go at this time it was very difficult to find food. One cafe opened especially early to make us some food. The dinner menu was not all available due to reducing because of the closure so the choice on the first evening was poor. I expected to find the facilities advertised on offer. The room complimentary tea and coffee etc was extremely poor and when we asked for more tea bags we charged over 2 euros. We didn't want our room cleaned on Saturday so we did not get tea/coffee etc replenished but when we asked, we were charged. That was disgraceful. Only one bottle of water was available and we had to ask reception for more if we required this but felt awkward so we didn't. The hotel should not have reduced anything until the last guests left. More tea/coffee in the rooms especially milk sachets. Room was small but not an issue. It could have had more lighting. The room fridge was empty!!! Taxis are very expensive so the location for us did not suit.
Location.... grounds.... excellent helpful staff
Good clean beds and room 6-7 min walk to town all on the flat, pool and well kept gardens
Cardboard cups and a plastic spoon, not the best way to make a hot brink
The quality of the accommodation and the catering fully met our expectations
The tea and coffee supplies in the bedroom were not replenished
Nice quiet hotel with great staff
Only downside was our room faced the car park/delivery area at the rear of the hotel. However do appreciate that the booking was as the local fayre was starting
