Pros: The hotel really comfortable and clean. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. As the hotel is not close to any town, to be able to enjoy a drink with our supper, we ate at the hotel every evening. They have quite an extensive menu so plenty of dishes to choose from
Cons: The building is quite old so not sure if there is a lift. I certainly didn’t see one. There are a few steps and stairs- not a problem for us but maybe for someone who is disabled

Cons: No particular qualm on anybody's part that's worthy of documenting. (I loathe ice cubes in my drinks at this time of the year , bar staff need to pose the question!)

Pros: First class gym. Spa and pool looked good. The setting is magnificent and a couple of miles from the main track up the mountain. Breakfast was a continental buffet and then a bespoke main course. Really nicely done with high quality food preparation and quality goods. The room was large and well furnished in general.It was very clean. The TV had a good selection of channels and reception was very good.
Cons: The bed was exceptionally low and not good for the knees.

Pros: Perfect location for us and a wonderful surprise to have such a warm welcome too. After a long day we opted to avoid the hailstorm and have a cozy evening in - Our room was lovely and the bed extremely comfortable! Would gladly stay again

Pros: Very clean and nice venue with lovely staff, who were very helpful and friendly throughout the stay
Cons: Floor boards were creaking loudly when walking and hearing other people's steps in the rooms around and above you.

Pros: Not having a family base in Merthyr anymore , the Bessemer is my go to place when I visit the old home town. The secure parking is brilliant and the breakfast is lovely ... and it’s great value for money .

Pros: It was a good size room well equipped room, with a Bath in the on ensuite bathroom. Car park at the rear
Cons: Although a large dinning room, only the tables next to the Kitchen were usable with radio one type music coming from the kitchen. The tea with the breakfast was only luke-warm.

Cons: It was dated and dingy. The only hotel where I had to make my own bed. They couldn't be bothered to get gluten free bread for breakfast. There was blood on the bedroom door handle. The walls were paper thin It was overpriced and poor. Go somewhere else.

Pros: Staff very helpful, The "Martyr room" we had was lovely, huge bathroom with shower, clean and tidy with very comfortable bed, leather armchairs and large wardrobe. Parking was no problem in their own car park.
Cons: Fire escape was very old and felt a bit unsafe. building work ongoing opposite the hotel but no noise when we stayed.

Pros: The accommodation was comfortable & homely, all staff very friendly. The room was well equipped with plenty of power points, good tea & coffee making facilities, comfy beds & a great shower.
Cons: We felt a bit rushed by the member of staff on breakfast duty Saturday morning. Hadn't even sat down at the table before she asked us if we wanted a cooked breakfast, which then arrived before we had finished our fruit & cereal.

Pros: We stayed for almost a week at the Farm when visiting relatives and everything was great. The location was stunning along with the homely atmosphere of the B&B, the friendliness of the staff and a marvellous breakfast - we couldn't have asked for more !

Pros: A fantastic place to stay, with spectacular views just out of the bedroom window. Exceptional breakfast with options to have a packed lunch for your adventures around the area. With great customer service, we felt very welcome. Very clean place to stay with absolutely no complaints. Amazing location with incredible local knowledge from the owners. They were happy to help us point in the right direction to find some awesome places in the Brecon Beacons. We have certainly made some lovely memories whilst we stayed here. Would recommend to anyone and come to stay again! Thank you, Tash & Kelly x

Pros: We absolutely loved our stay. The hosts are so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the bed is super comfy. Breakfast is made to order including home made bread and jams. Not to mention the location being perfect it was so close to everything we wanted to do - 12/10!

Pros: Our stay here was absolutely incredible, we loved it! The location is amazing (such a short walk to the beautiful reservoir), and Sally and Alun couldn't have been more welcoming. The breakfast each day was delicious, and there was plenty of choice. There was even a lock up facility for our bikes, which was ideal as we brought them with us. Thanks so much for such a lovely stay, we cannot wait to come back!

On the edge of the Brecon Beacons, these 4-star stone cottages have free internet and private parking. Tunnel Cottages at Blaen-nant-y-Groes Farm have a scenic location above Cwmbach. The cosy cottages and studios feature heated flag-stone floors and most feature exposed beams and wood-burning stoves. All cottages have a private entrance and a barbecue area with wonderful countryside views. The cottages have a modern kitchen with a cooker and dishwasher, and the studios have a mini kitchenette with a fridge, microwave and hob. All accommodation features a dining area, comfortable leather sofas, free Wi-Fi and Sky TV. Set in 15 private acres, the Cottages are a 15-minute drive from the Brecon Beacons and Merthyr, 30 minutes from Cardiff, and 45 minutes from Swansea and the Gower coast.

Pros: Very cosy and very rustic .Loved the log burner especially as we had a very cold ,wet and windy weekend. The staff was very helpful and friendly! We would definitely come here again!
Cons: Is a converted farm house so if u want to pick faults I am sure you can find things to pick on ,but if you take it all in and enjoy a rustic property in a rural location then you will have a great time.

Pros: The views when available were great. Very quiet. My dislike would be a like in good weather with walks straight from door. Help from owners with issues was spot on.
Cons: This would be a good for some as the highest properties on the road giving instant walks on to routes around property. Unfortunately with Storm Dennis meant that car was required all the time to get around. Studio was a true studio but felt a little cramped at times due to the weather keeping us in.

Pros: Everything else was amazing staff go out of their way to make the stay there perfect. Definitely be going again. Great weekend.
Cons: Lost electricity on the day we were leaving had to shower in the dark we were told that we would receive a call as to explain what had happened and to smoothe things over were the words used. But never received a call which was a bit disappointing. Would've been nice to have been put in another room to use the facilities!!
