Pros: The warm welcome, we were offered a wonderful "snack" of lemon pie and coffee and tea and we had perfect service with help for our bags to the great room we chose. Pros: Hospitalty of the boss Offering a welcome drink
7.9 Good
Pros: The day we arrived was probably the worst rain/wind storm the area had seen in years. After driving for hours to get to the hotel we were a wreck! A gentleman named Joseph came out and immediately made us his only priority. Once we made it into the hotel he insisted we sit down in the restaurant and have a glass of wine. In fact we ended up having dinner and climbing into bed before we realized that he had never even asked for any ID nor any charge on our CC. This service/caring lasted through the entire visit and when we left Joseph gave my wife a wonderful bottle of wine as a gift. The service was exemplatory. The hotel well located off the main highway (close but not so close there was noise), the room well appointed, the bed very comfortable, the morning breakfast sumptious. We cannot find a single thing to compalin about ... would stay there again in a heartbeat.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely loved this quirky place! Full of character and memories, the staff and owner were fantastic. He was so friendly and hospitable when we arrived quite late. 3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The breakfast was value for money
Cons: The price is really too high for the standard rooms. Reffirbishment is very low budget, which makes the room shady
8.8 Excellent

Cons: I would add CNN and/or BBC World to the TV channel list :-)

Pros: The hotel is nicely located, our room was very clean and the staff was very nice and helping. The bed was also of good quality which is important to me.
Cons: I was disappointed to see that the bathroom was not renovated like the rest of the hotel. It was clean but the equipment was old. Our sink was leaking at the beginning but the staff took care of it straight away.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location near down town and restaurants - all in a few minutes walking distance. Great breakfast in an amazing breakfast room! Gladly lent a phone charger - since the plugs are different than in Germany - that was a serious problem averted!
7.1 Good
Pros: There was nobody available at the reception when we arrived around 6pm - our name with room key was left on the desk, along with 3 more similarly named for other guests. We only saw the owners at breakfast time. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel was conveniently located to enable an easy walk to various restaurants.
6.3 Good
Pros: The hospitality was great, as well by the reception clerk, as in the morning by the owner at the breakfast. He even spoke some Dutch, which in France is extremely rare.
Cons: It was way too hot on the room, even with the heating radiator closed and the window partially opened. Some shower gel would be great.
6.3 Good
Cons: Despite advertising a restaurant and having read good reviews about the skills of the chef, when I enquired about the menu for dinner was told that the dining room was closed that night (Saturday) for a private event. We were not informed of this when we checked in. As we left to find somewhere to eat, we noticed 4 other guests having dinner! On Sunday, we enquired as to where the terrace and garden was so that we could sit out - we were told that as it was Sunday, these were closed! Now, you either offer these facilities or you don't. The towels in the room were very old and rough and could benefit from being replaced.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Fresh Bread and Croissants excellent home made jam, Menu limited choice but what was served was up to Michelin standards; Albeit 2 star Chalet / Hotel, Rustic with Charm and Friendly.
Cons: Nothing to Complain about Good Clean and Simple with lovely Food. Down to Earth.

Hôtel-Club Cosmos - Contrexéville - Building

7.8 Good (809 reviews)
C$ 117+
Overview Reviews
Htel Cosmos: the Antiquated Charm of Yesterday's Luxury Hotels. The Cosmos, overlooking the city, has 83 rooms. The majestic staircase, antique furnishings, large dining room opening out onto the deck and garden, billiard room and parlors all preserve its atmosphere.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place, we stopped only for one night but there is so much to do there, I could have stayed for a week! The outdoor pool is actually heated and really nice, the hammam as well, and the restaurant was very nice
Cons: Maybe the rooms need a bit of refurbishment, but it is minor it did not detract from the pleasure of our stay
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Large historic hotel with huge stairs hall and big rooms. I felt like a century ago, travelling off the motorways, taking my time. Historic but confortable and clean.
Cons: the garden and surroundings could be a bit better maintained
7.9 Good
Pros: Reasonable food in adjacent restaurant
6.3 Good
Pros: We stopped at the hotel during a trip, and it looks alright with nice large rooms and clean and modern enough facilities. However, it's severely understaffed particularly in its restaurant department.
Cons: We decided to try the self styled "gastronomic" restaurant... We were quite disappointed - the personnel was obviously stretched thin to cover all tables (as if on a Friday night they didn't expect many customers?), they were courteous but forgetful and some could be heard arguing in front of customers... Even with that, we were expecting to receive better food than what we ordered. To me, it didn't raise above brasserie level in terms of idea, presentation or taste. The morning after, for breakfast, the situation was shambolic, again, with only one member of staff to register client room numbers and refill the buffet, with long lines, caused also by the fact that with all the space at disposal, the slowest point of service were the first ones to be accessed by the clients queueing to get their food. To justify the price, the managers should invest in more staff to assure the client's satisfaction. At the checkout, we were not the only ones complaining, and from what I see on trip advisor the situation has been similar for a few years now.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great pool
Cons: Slow waiters in the restaurant.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old chic. Great pool and spa. Very helpful staff.
Cons: Restaurant service is a bit chaotic.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved our short stop over at this hotel en route to Southern France. The pool was lovely, keep the kids quiet though, it’s a spa as well and most of the clientele were chilling out after their treatments and didn’t appreciate our children splashing about
Cons: We hadn’t realised that we should have booked for dinner, the restaurant was full and there isn’t really anywhere else within walking distance. We had room service which was ok but not amazing. There was no fridge in the room, a pain when you are in transit with kids but not the end of the world
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We come here already many times on the wat to the south. It's very comfortable and with the swimming pool it's a real bonus
Cons: The bar is very often closed. Just for a drink it's hard to get. The diner was not so good. Expensive but poor quality
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice old style and spacious building, friendly staff, good parking facility, large swimming pool, nice terrace for dining and a luxurious breakfast buffet with fresh orange juice with superb croissants
Cons: The building is a little bit obsolete here and there; a renovation wouldn’t be extravagant
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old glory
Cons: No airco in the room - even though we missed it it was manageable. In a heatwave!

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff very friendly. Nice pool
Cons: No hairdryer.
6.3 Good
Pros: It was clean and in a good location (close to the motorway)
Cons: We were to arrive at 10pm, and at 9pm we received a call from the owner asking at what time we planned to arrive. We told her it would be in an hour. She gave me the code of the front door, explained where our room was and that the key would be on the door. When we arrived there was a weird guy smoking in front of the door and the door was opened to us by a little girl. When we were looking for our room (which we didn’t find immediately) another woman (the mother of the little girl) turned up and told us where we could find the elevator. These people were hotel guests I think, wandering around the hotel? We didn’t like the fact that anyone could have entered the room and we were a bit distrusting the (I am sorry, but they were marginal) people wandering around. The hotel was clean and in a good location, but I don’t think we would stay there again.
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice room and good coffee
Cons: Location

Cons: That they charge you an extra 3 euro for the swimmingpool.
7.1 Good
Pros: The rooms where clean, the beds comfy. Price of the hotel is quiet expensive for what it is. The pool was charged eur 3 per person. The lady who welcomed us was nice and gave us some good ideas.
7.5 Good
Pros: Rooms were good and a baby crib was delivered as requested. The family room was big enough for the 5 of us. The hotel is quiet and perfect for an overnighter to or from the South. Good value for money.
Cons: Visually the room looked clean, but could have a bit more attention under the beds.
7.5 Good
Pros: They changed rooms for us when we complained about smoke smell in our room. Swimming pool available
