10.0 Excellent
Pros: My mother and I were due to stay at Azumaya on the 2nd, but misfortune struck on our way there in the form of a big tree fallen across a narrow, rocky, winding, single-laned mountain road, due to the typhoon the week before. So we were stuck, unable to go back down or go forward. It took more than 6 hours for someone to come get us and it being autumn, we lost all daylight by the time we got down the mountain. We were still about 4hrs out from the Azumaya and we weren't confident of driving there in the dark on non-familar roads. While we were still on the mountain, we managed to call the staff of the Azumaya and with our limited command of Japanese, managed to tell them about our incident and apologise that we had to cancel our first night. We showed up the next day and to our utmost surprise, the staff of the Azumaya conveyed to us in gestures and simple Japanese that they were sorry we had to go through such a distressing incident and that they were upgrading us to a suite with a premium dinner set. There was even a kind, handwritten note in English from the young lady who took our call the day before, Miss Yuki, enquiring about our well-being after the incident. As most of the staff there can't understand or speak much English, Miss Yuki even carefully prepared typed out notes in English for us, introducing and explaining all the wonderful dishes we had at dinner. The room was superb, and so was the ensuite open-air onsen bath. Beds were infinitely comfy. Such kind, generous hospitality absolutely warmed our hearts and will never be forgotten. We got to experience truly great Japanese hospitality, and we will DEFINITELY highly recommend anyone travelling to the Kaminoyama area to stay at the Azumaya. Thank you to Miss Yuki and the rest of the staff at the Azumaya for making our stay there a truly unforgettable one.
Cons: Loved everything! Nothing should change.
7.5 Good

Cons: There is no dinner serve during my stay

Pros: Very cheerful and helpful staff, Yuki. Tries her best to help and speak English even though it is difficult...help us with transportation arrangement and recommendations. Will definitely recommend.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were excellent and I enjoyed my stay very much. They really went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. The breakfasts were also amazing with a wide range of Japanese and Western foods.
Cons: There was a slight smell of cigarette smoke in my room. However, the staff installed an air purifier and this took away the smell.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: - really comfortable and clean rooms. - staffs are great. - great onsen inside the room. - great breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was amazing. We stayed on the Room with mountains views and private onsen and it was absolutely ideal to relax and have some rest. The onsen was really big for us 2 to confortably fit, the windows of the bath could be open or closed and there was absolute chill around. The night kaiseki dinner was delightful and the breakfast as traditional and complete as we expected. The public onsen also had an open air bath that was really nice too. We even took a massage, which I really recommend if you want to recover from a long journey. There is a little mountain behind the hotel with some easy walking routes and a castle nearby but the location is meant for staying at the hotel and relax.
Cons: The town is small and the station is about 25 minutes walking but the hotel offers a free transfer for customers. As they say on the description, there aren't too much food options nearby.

Everyone is lovely, friendly, and very helpful. The room is spacious, there is a foot bath in the balcony and a hot spring bathtub overlooking the mountains. Dinner and breakfast were provided and oh my they were delicious!! I highly recommend staying at this place.
