Overview Reviews
Stay with us at the 4 Star Best Western Plus Stoke-on-Trent Moat House Hotel, where you are assured of a comfortable visit and great service. Stoke-on-Trent was named UK’s European City of Sport for 2016 and also a year in which we celebrate our 25th birthday. The hotel has historic links to the city's heritage. Etruria Hall - now our dedicated 8-room meetings and events center and a popular Staffordshire wedding venue - was built in 1769 as the home of Josiah Wedgwood, the ‘Father of English Potters’. This fabulous Stoke-on-Trent hotel is a great place to stay for families and couples alike. Just a short walk from the hotel, you’ll find Stoke Ski Centre, Water World indoor tropical aqua park and a ten-pin Bowling Alley. The city's business district is close to the hotel, whilst Hanley's shops, theaters, museums and cinemas are on our doorstep. A little further afield, you can relax in award-winning gardens including Trentham Gardens, Biddulph Grange and The Dorothy Clive Garden. And this Stoke-on-Trent hotel is also nicely located for a day out at the Alton Towers theme park. Our on-site leisure facilities include an indoor heated pool, sauna, spa pool and air conditioned gym. The smart surroundings, great location and free Wi-Fi also make the hotel convenient for business meetings. The Best Western Plus Stoke-on-Trent Moat House Hotel is close to the M6 motorway for easy access to the North West and the Midlands. That’s why it makes the perfect base as a place to stay in Stoke-on-Trent. Restricted children's times in the leisure club. Pool will be closed Saturday mornings in term time from 9am – 10:30am.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Location, staff family rooms
Cons: Being renovated no fridge in rooms showers tired
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location was decent with swimming pool and festival park shopping area in walking distance. Breakfast was substation and reasonable quality.
Cons: Charge £10 per hour for early check in and £5 for parking. I have never experienced either of these charges when staying in other hotels. Overpriced for what you get. Receptionist wasn’t very helpful often was out the back rather than serving customers. Waited a long time to be seen. I think price should be lower during the construction period and rooms are still very dated. Staff appeared rushed although bar area was very quiet so not very attentive.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was starting to close down in the area due to coronavirus but the hotel kept a limited menu on for residents in the evening which was ok. We decided to upgrade our room as we knew that we would be limited in the places we would be able to visit and were offered the honeymoon suite at a reasonable upgraded price from an executive room
Cons: Pool area quite dated but the hotel is undergoing a complete refurbishment programme which should solve this
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Noisy from a wedding party that took place there, which they was setting fire works off at 11.30 at night and noise till 2am
9.0 Excellent
Pros: check in was a seamless experience, staff very helpful and friendly , easy upgrade from family room to executive room as I was on my own and only £10. Room clean , well equipped apart from toilet roll holder broken.
Cons: Everything was fine apart from toilet roll holder being broken. room was a little hot and I couldn't work out how to work the air conditioning , but that's me rather than the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Service and the layout.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean and staff were friendly. Great location and pool was okay. Room had everything you needed and the shower was great, no bath attachment but had a non slip floor and toiletries. I can't comment on restaurant food as I never went. Also very close hotel to Alton Towers. Great for couples or family.
Cons: There was a hiccup with checking in, my room key was only activated for one out of the two days I stayed so it was easily fixed. I also tried to get some apple juice around 11pm and it had to be room charged however after asking 3 times how much they refused to give me a price and kept telling me it'll be charged to the card on my room so there was definitely a misunderstanding somewhere but in the end I just took the juice and to this day still have no idea how much two apple juice is
4.0 Okay
Pros: Very convenient location, friendly staff and great breakfast.
Cons: The room smelt strongly of damp,. Quite grubby - lipstick on bathroom towel, ripped bed frame, chipped and marked doors. Black hair in the bath when we arrived. We asked for extra pillows but we didn't get them. There was no fridge or safe as described in the room option when I booked.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Staff were helpful and friendly
Cons: We had to move rooms due to the shower not working properly and had to spend the night in a room with an horrific smell which was being covered up by car tree air fresheners hanging on the curtain pole and a plug in air freshener. Outside the window on the floor (ground floor room) was a soiled nappy which has been discarded.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Stayed here many times and locations wise its perfect.
Cons: The food wasnt great and the heating was either too cold or too hot
9.0 Excellent
Pros: location, friendlyness, good breakfast
Cons: bed was only queen size

8.0 Excellent
Pros: it was homely
5.7 Okay
Pros: the hotel was not much, but thats what you get for such a cheap rate, but dont get me wrong, it is still alright for people who dont mind not having the usual hotel luxury
Cons: -not any that i can think of-
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing, I would definately not reccommend this hotel to anybody!
Cons: Charged us twice for rooms! Didn't sort this out until we threatened legal action! Very unwelcoming, blood stained walls, horribly dirty carpet, bedding, broken bathroom doorknob, window was broken, rooms were really hot and smelt like indian takeaway? Breakfast was horrible. Told us when we arrived at the hotel that we only had 8 rooms booked, after we left they charged our card for 10 rooms, whereas we only used 8! Yes, this is budget accommodation, but I didn't expect this budget, would have been better staying at a hostel!
2.3 Mediocre
Pros: The sheets were clean, and the water was hot. The staff were friendly.
Cons: Everything in the room looked "tired" and the room smelled of smoke. There was no plug in sink, the light over the mirror didn't work, and the toilet required 3 or 4 heavy pushes on the flush before anything happened. The windows were dripping with condensation. The bedspread looked very grubby. Our "continental" breakfast was a piece of soggy toast and a cup of tasteless coffee.
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: The hotel was dirty and in need of a serious refurbishment. In the lobby, there was a distinct smell of someone smoking drugs. There were several members of staff stood around here, but i would not like to speculate as to who was smoking. I would advise against staying here. I am a contractor, and this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, with over 15 years experience of hotels.
5.2 Okay
Pros: Easy access for Trentham Gardens
Cons: The heat in the rooms was a little unbareable, the window was open but the noise of the traffic and trains meant the windows had to be closed during the night. The radiator was on a very hot temp in the hall outside our room. We did feel that the one part of the hotel looked a little fresher & newly decorated as it smelled very nice walking through the hall, but we were put into the older part of the building which I think until recently was the smoking rooms. This part was a little staler smelling and the doors were very old compared to the newly decorated part of the hotel. The hotel was not full at the time,so I wonder why we were not given rooms which had been decorated. On the whole it served our purpose as we were only there for a short stay to go to our daughters graduation
3.2 Mediocre
Pros: staff were freindly
Cons: condition of room
4.8 Okay
Pros: good clean atmosphere. hassle free.
Cons: very basic breakfast. no remote controls for tv.
6.8 Good
Pros:
Cons: No food available. A pity because the bar and dining are lovely and there are very few restaurants near by.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Not noisy.
Cons:

Desk in our bedroom had peeling paint and the chair was stained. TV was ridiculously small. The soundproofing in our room was almost non-existent - didn't really want to listen to the conversation of the guests in the next door bedroom - or their snoring!!

Cons: The only thing I did not like was the double bed, was much too hard. I did not sleep in it at all and it triggered my sciatica and hip pain, which cut our day at Alton towers short as I was in so much pain. The second night I slept in one of the singles and slept much better.
