Pros: Professionally run family hotel in a beautiful building, great if you want to stay indoors, take advantage of wine tourism excursions or, as we did, stopover on a cycling or walking path.
Pros: Nice German hotel with massive selection of Riesling wine. Food excellent half way stop from alps to Dunkirk home
Pros: The great service and very caring staff, excellent food, and beautiful room
Pros: Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice. Comfortable well furnished room
Cons: We were given dinner menus in English, but unfortunately these had not been updated and some of our first choices were no longer available which was slightly disappointing.
Pros: Charming hotel with good restaurant and bar in a rural setting. Helpful and informative staff plus a winery attached,
Cons: Nothing really
Pros: Good for relaxing, walking and biking. Close to river. Good for old people.
Cons: I did not like the breakfast, and I did not find the environment international. In addition, I arrived in a very hot weather, and the room did not have any cooling facilities.
Pros: Very friendly staff, awesome country near, very delicious wines.
Pros: Very nice big room, pet friendly, quiet, fantastic restaurant. Nice walking route along the riverside.
Pros: Nice hotelroom. Friendly personnel, super breakfast.
Cons: Bad wifi connection. Huge German pillows on which you cannot sleep.
Pros: A beautiful hotel and it was a very pleasant stay! And on top of that, staff and owners did a very grateful job to send some lost luggage to our home adress! Now that's what we call service! We like to visit this place again!
With a stay at Hotel Saarburger Hof in Saarburg, you'll be a 1-minute walk from Saar-Hunsrueck Nature Park and 7 minutes by foot from Saarburg Castle. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
Pros: Handy location and comfortable stay.
Pros: Super friendly and helpful owner. A role model as a host
Pros: The owner was lovely gentlemen. Who catered for my needs excepitionally and helped me with all my requests.
Pros: Excellent location in the very center of the town. Cleanness
Situated on the banks of the river Saar, this historical building offers elegant rooms with wonderful views of the picturesque Old Town. Saarburg railway station is a 2-minute walk away. The welcoming Hotel Villa Keller is an ideal base for exploring the Saar-Hunsrück nature park, or for relaxing boat trips along the river. Explore the medieval centre of Saarburg, with its castle and attractive alleyways, or discover the many wine-producing villages nearby. After a long day, enjoy a wide range of cuisine in the hotel restaurant. Seasonal specialities are offered, and you can dine on the terrace in good weather. In addition, refreshing drinks and hearty snacks are served in the rustic pub with large beer garden. Try one of the home-brewed beers during your stay.
Pros: Had very large corner room on second floor with view of the River - excellent. Main restaurant closed but good evening meal outside from the courtyard bar. Breakfasts were a highlight taken on the patio overlooking the River and castle - wide selection. Could walk into the town centre in 10/15 minutes. Historic house built in 1801 for a leather maker.
Cons: Nothing - all fine. Understood that as a listed building there was no lift. Restaurant being closed meant walking into town two evenings - but close by and with a good selection of eating places.
Pros: An airy room, clean ensuite, comfortable bed that didn't smell of fabric softener.
Cons: The room was on the third floor so internet was very weak/non existant. Staff were very pleasant but scarce which left us guessing where things were (breakfast room, access to the front porch etc). Also irritated by trains trundling past during the night.
Cons: After booking 3 weeks in advance, we arrived in the evening after a 15 hour journey. Repeatedly during the day we tried to call the hotel to say when we would arrive and to arrange for a meal. No answer, no forwarding message service so we were unable to talk with the hotel, When we arrived the place was in total darkness, no one at home. What to do ?. As luck would have it , next door was another hotel. Luckily they were able to accommodate us. The original hotel owners sat at the dining table and were as it were" on their day off ". Eventually they came over to us, no apology to us for the inconvenience, no excuse for the closed doors. They did accept our money for the reservation but didn't have the decency to inform us they wouldn't be there. This is disgraceful hotelier behaviour, at least they could have apologised but no it was insisted an email had been sent to us that afternoon. We did not receive any notification. In any case we were travelling throughout the continent. Our booking had been made three weeks in advance. Surely they had time to tell us they would not be there. This hotel purports to be of high standing. Despite the fine location next to the river Saar. I would certainly not recommend this establishment. One of the most unfriendly , inhospitable , unhelpful hoteliers I have ever come across
Pros: Historic facility and great service. Accommodations Great. Staff very alert, helpful and friendly. Dining excellent. Will return on next visit to Germany. Recommend to all who value an excellent restful night. Roger Webster USA, Mary Esther FL
Pros: Beautifully located at the Saar. Super friendly personnel. Spacious room. Loved the atmosphere n and around the house.
Cons: The bathroom is a bit small. The pillows where not that comfy for me.
Quietly located in Saarburg’s historic Old Town, this hotel offers bicycle storage and a restaurant with terrace. Wirtshaus zum Pferdemarkt is just 300 metres from the banks of the Saar River. Situated in a historic cellar with arched ceilings, the restaurant serves a hearty buffet breakfast and regional cuisine. Vegetarian options are available. A flat-screen TV, seating area and private bathroom with hairdryer are featured in all rooms at the Wirtshaus zum Pferdemarkt. Each one is warmly decorated, offering wooden furnishing and plenty of natural light. Guests can enjoy hiking and cycling along the Saar River, or go for a ride on the Saarburger Sesselbahn Chair Lift (600 metres). Saarburg Train Station is also just 600 metres away.
Pros: Easy to walk into the town
Cons: Only a restaurant, no bar where you could just get a drink or a cup of tea . We asked and were pointed to a seat by reception
Pros: Good location in a beautiful little city. Nice restaurant hall!
Pros: Very well located in a quaint old German town. Lovely building in fitting with its surroundings.
Pros: Location, breakfast en this lovely woman who runs the place
Pros: Good breakfast for the price (excellent coffee). Nice central location.
Cons: Bed too close to bathroom door (door bumping at bed), because of room dimensions. No lift.
Pros: Great location, comfortable and friendly, helpful staff
Cons: Take your own pillows - they just don’t get pillows in Germany!!
Pros: Loved this hotel for its antiquity. Loved the wood in the hotel and the spacious room. It was very clean and comfortable. The food was excellent. Also this pub had its own brewery where you could make your own beer; so sounds good for a weekend stay! Also skiing area at the right time of year!
Cons: The lady who signed us in was so miserable, not welcoming at all. She did manage a smile when she served us our evening meal. I rarely complain but was going to say something to her but my wife preferred me not to as she would have had to translate!
Pros: Nice staff
Cons: Great location
Pros: Friendly staff, very careful with guests. They even changed the breakfast hours for me.
Pros: Very nice little hotel at the center of the town, but still in a quiet place. My room and the whole hotel was very clean, and the staff was very welcoming and nice to me (although not everybody spoke english). The breakfast was of good quality, not too extensive, but a little bit of everything (egg, rolls, cheeses, jams, hams, salamis, fruits, muesli), with some day-to-day variations in the served fruits and cheeses. The bread rolls were very fresh and tasty as well as the cheeses. The restaurant was mostly closed as I visited Saarburg in the offseason, but fortunately could experience the very good food there on my last day. The waitress was also really kind and nice, trying her best to overcome the language barriers. Overall an excellent value for the money!
Cons: It was no problem for me at all, but for old people the stairs to the rooms might be quite steep

Pros: It was a very modern styled room, very nice wines from the house and very good food in a cosy village in the wine area Moselle
Pros: This is the perfect German guest house, expertly run, perfectly clean, comfortable room and bathroom, and excellent breakfast. I look forward to coming back in the summer. I liked being able to buy a case of very good German cremant (sparkling wine, made in the champagne style) for my wife's birthday party - highly recommended.
Pros: It’s a marvellous place to spend a couple of days. Very comfortable and clean, the hotel has a restaurant and a terrace which is marvellous during the summer. The restaurant is closed for winter.
Cons: Everything was perfect
Pros: Wonderful bathroom!
Cons: Reception is not always attended.
Pros: The breakfast was very nice and the night before I enjoyed their local wine which was amazing. The rooms and bathroom were very clean, quiet and spacious.
Cons: That I arrived too late to have dinner there like I did last time, for the rest nothing to complain about.
Pros: Nice renovated room!
Cons: Staff not really friendly! Didn‘t feel welcome!
Pros: Clean room, friendly staf, good food
Pros: Excellent room with a big terrace, great shower, comfortable beds, wonderful wine and an amazing breakfast.
This traditional-style hotel in Saarburg stands beside the waterfall in the pedestrian area. It offers individually designed rooms, and a German-Italian restaurant with a large terrace. Located near scenic hiking paths and cycle routes, the Hotel am Markt has spacious rooms with a TV, telephone, and private bathroom. Free WiFi internet is available in all of the Markt’s public areas and in some rooms. Varied breakfasts are prepared at the Hotel am Markt. The Meridiana restaurant serves a range of German and Mediterranean dishes. The Hotel am Markt is a great base for day trips to France and Luxembourg. The Weinlehrpfad Wine Route in the Saar wine region is just 15 km away.
Pros: hotel situated in heart of market place by small river.
Cons: As hotel is in pedestrian area check directions.
Pros: Large room with comfy bed overlooking the square
Pros: great location and nice breakfast.
Cons: little but outdated bathrooms and no A/C
Pros: We liked almost everything, the restaurant was excellent as were the staff, facilities and location.
Cons: We thought we were booking the quietest side, ie the inside courtyard, however early both mornings, around 2.30am people stood there talking for some time which was disturbing when you were on the first floor.
Pros: Great location right on the market. Good Italian restaurant. Friendly staff. Clean room.
Cons: everything OK
Pros: Excellent position in centre of old town.
Pros: Great location right at the waterfall.
Pros: Location. A very beautiful little town.
Cons: Had to keep windows shut as noisy (due to central location and hotel has restaurant attached!) therefore room ended up hot and stuffy. This summer has been v warm. Probably way more comfy in Winter, Spring and Autumn...
Set in the heart of mediaeval Saarburg, this 3-star hotel offers easy access to the city of Trier, and the hiking and bicycle routes of the German, French and Luxembourg triangle. The modern Hotel Saar Galerie offers tastefully furnished, peaceful rooms with free WLAN access. The panoramic lift and partly barrier-free rooms are among the hotel’s special features. Ample bicycle and motorbike storage facilities are available. The new banquet hall is ideal for conferences and functions of all kinds.
Pros: Rooms are large and clean. Really well located with a parking in the building (you have to pay though). Breakfast are ok. Workers are nice.
Pros: We,v been regular visitors at this hotel for a good few years and always been more than happy.Breakfasts are as good as any in similar Hotels.Rooms are spacious and comfortable.
Pros: Like this place very much, few minutes away from the center
Pros: We are a couple who were here for 1 week for a motorcycle holiday. Great location for this. For the 2 motorcycles we needed safe parking spaces, for this the hotel garage was excellent : closed at night, but we had our own key, easy access from garage to the hotel (elevator). The breakfast buffet was good, the room was clean and quite large. Practical : there is a supermarket in the basement of the building, which comes in handy.
Cons: Disadvantages : the tv only had about 6 channels and they were all in german. The beds were too hard for our taste, the pillows too thin / soft. The town of Saarburg is pretty, but very touristic, which badly influences the service of some restaurants there. Unfortunately the hotel does not have a space to sit outside if the weather is good. But all in all : we had a great stay !
Pros: We have a pleasant stay in the hotel. They offer good room, breakfast and overall service. Two things to thank: 1) The staff called us and arranged a key box when we were on road, so we checked in easily even when we arrived late in the evening. 2) My daughter forgot her iPad in the room, the staff found, kept and posted it to her. We are very grateful to the staffs. Two things to improve: 1) The private parking lot of the hotel was locked by then, so it would be better if the hotel provides some public parking guidance. 2) Guests have to get wifi accounts and passwords from the reception but the reception had no staff by then, so it would be even better if they could provide wifi info together with the key.
Pros: Room was spacious, and breakfast was quite good
Cons: Seemed to be somewhat unorganised and unprofessional - we were put in the wrong room and we were not expected to attend the free breakfast for some reason. Needed to be headcounted and wait on our table to be set for us
Pros: Friendly staff. Lovely breakfast. Clean and comfortable.
Cons: Smoking at front door intrusive. BBC TV not available although stated on TV chart it was. Office not manned at night; therefore couldn’t stop people being very noisy at night.
Pros: Very clean
Cons: There are fotos of a swimming pool in the presentation of the hotel, but there is not!
Pros: Good location, 5 minutes by walk to the center. Private and easy parking. Friendly staff. Big room. Good breakfast. Clean and comfortable room. The elevator was broken when we arrived, but they fixed it in the evening.
With a stay at Bed & Breakfast Nitteler Hof in Nittel, you'll be just steps from Saar-Hunsrueck Nature Park and Abel Winery. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
Pros: Very good place to stay, everything makes you feel good!
Pros: Comfortable bed, very clean. Relaxed atmosphere, palatable local wine in the honours bar!
Cons: Nothing really, however 2 out of the 3 mornings we didn’t have fresh bread loaves at breakfast, only the Tuesday morning?
Cons: I was there for 2 nights mid November. Apart from when I checked in there was noone at the reception desk and there didn’t appear to be any staff on duty at night. On the second night and following morning I had no heating or hot water in my room, but was unable to speak to anyone in person about the situation until I checked out. And then, it was only because I insisted with a member of staff who happened to be passing by that he call the owners, that I was able to raise and settle the issue (very quickly and amicably) with them. Otherwise I would have been automatically directly and fully billed. This was not stated in the booking procedure. Apart from that I’m not sure what I made of the B&B. Definitely not homely. More like project in progress: partly renovated (wellness areas) and partly a bit downtrodden. My room was old fashioned, but adequate. I would have liked a firmer mattress, softer pillows and more solid doors since the floorboards in the corridor outside creaked a lot whenever someone went past. There is no lift so was glad to have only one floor to climb with my luggage. Breakfast was OK. Lot of staff arriving in the morning as I checked out. Felt a bit like being in an office building!
Pros: Good pillows and mattress, makes all the difference
Cons: Coffee machine took 30 minutes to warm and go through the start up process, perhaps turn it on earlier as I didn’t get a cup of anything either of the 2 days.
Pros: The interior of the hotel was pretty decent and with comfortable beds. Clean and modern bathroom and a smallish yet powerful shower. The terrace in front of the place was a nice venue to sample some wines of the region and breakfast was great and plentiful. Staff were very hard working and friendly in their recommendations.
Cons: Upon arrival, we were 20 minutes early for check in, so we spend some time relaxing on the terrace outside. When we, and some other guests received our room keys, we discovered that the rooms were not yet ready. A lack of communication between the cleaning staff and reception resulted in returning to the latter. The quality of the restaurant has room for improvement; the tapas platter should either be taken off the menu or changed completely since it is a huge pile of cheese, meat and dried tomato. Not very subtle too say the least. The cuisson of our steaks was not in line with what we had asked for and the side dishes were all the same whatever was ordered. After dinner we enjoyed the first night of the Nittler Weinfeste; great experience throughout the village!
Pros: All very professional staff who were friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent and the whole experience was fantastic.
Cons: No negative comments
Pros: The structure Is quite near the Airport of Luxembourg (about 20 minutes of car driving). The rooms are clean and the staff Is fine (they don't speak English very well, but they are very kind). The breakfast Is fine and rich of several dish types (fruit, sweet and savory dish).
Cons: It hasn't a lot of restaurants near.
Pros: Quiet, great mattress and pillows! Clean, well equipped bathroom. Breakfast was a vast improvement, really enjoyed it.
Cons: I don’t speak German and unfortunately the lady at breakfast didn’t speak English so I haven’t paid yet!!! Will call today.
Cons: The internet did almost nothing and can therefore not be used. If it works so slow, it is better to mention that there is no internet.
With a stay at Hotel zum Mühlengarten in Nittel, you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Saar-Hunsrueck Nature Park and Abel Winery. Featured amenities include multilingual staff and an elevator (lift). Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
Pros: Clean room
Cons: Poorly soundproofed, I heard my neighbours on either side talking in their rooms and they weren't particularly loud. Low price so you know you can't expect much in the way of service, but a couple of glasses or even plastic cups in the room would've been nice. If you can afford it, go somewhere nicer.
Pros: Nice room, clean, good facilities
Cons: I assumed that I will stay in The building which faces the river, but apparently there is a secondary building belonging to the hotel. This wasnt communicated so I was a bit let down.
Pros: Lovely big room
Cons: It said check in was open till 10. It wasn't. No tea or coffee facilities. Restaurant closed.
Pros: We got there around 8 p.m. and no one at the lobby. The hotel expected us to call their number where we do not have phone with us. It was extremely frustrated as we have to solve problem by ourselves.
Cons: Have a phone or WIFI at the front gate.
Pros: Very comfortable and cozy.
Cons: There is nobody at the reception. It was confusing to get the keys because the PIN they sent me by email was wrong. The walls are very thin, you can't speak loud at night or the neighbor rooms will complain.
Pros: Spacious eoom with fridge
Cons: Staff didn't respond to mails, room with fridge, but no glasses. Noisy trains during night
Pros: Cheap, very comfortable beds, great shower, friendly staff, free parking.
Cons: The only downside was that the restaurant and biergarten were closed. This was announced though so not a big problem. Bars and a good bakery are around the corner.
Pros: Price was very good, the room was clean, bathroom was good, bed was comfortable
Cons: the reception should be open 24h but otherwise it was very good
Cons: No food service in the hotel including breakfast which was indicated when we reserved our rooms.
Cons: It was very hot in the room and there is no airconditioning. We arrived before 10 pm, however, the receptionist was already gone. They do have a system with codes, however, we received no code in advance and needed to call. Fortunately we had access tot our email with 4g. No internet access because the codes were not given you us of available in the room.
