Pros: For a single room, it was a good size, and the breakfast table set up is quite impressive.
Cons: When I phoned up to double check that the room was available, I was told that they could only offer me a minimum two night stay.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very good and the staff very friendly and helpful
Cons: The lighting in the bathroom was very dark and I found it difficult to shave Steps leading into the bar very dark and difficult to spot, I did fall over on entering the bar and that was prior to having a drink !! The steps should be be lit up or have some reflective strips in order to prevent accidents

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The refurbished bar, restaurant and reception area are very stylishly decorated and furnished. The bathroom was lovely with a great shower and large fluffy towels. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the bar and restaurant manager was a delight. Great to have the private car park too.
Cons: We were aware that the bedroom had not yet been refurbished and were we fine with it. Beds were comfortable. However the curtains were dated and ripped and the cord to shut them was sticking so had to force manually. You’ll probably replace the light fittings when you refurbish. Looking forward to coming back.
5.8 Okay
Cons: Our rooms were very tired & dated for the price - we used the hotel as a base for a family weekend away so it served that purpose fine but no desire to linger or hang around at the hotel/in the rooms longer than necessary. Breakfast staff lovely.

With a stay at Old White Hart in Oakham, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Rutland Water Nature Reserve and Lyddington Bede House. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access and multilingual staff. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.5 Good
Pros: See above. Nice food in a restaurant with a welcoming ambiance. Our room was comfortable and spacious.
Cons: We had a nice room in the main building having rejected a less attractive room in the annex some 200 yards away. If you want to be near bar and restaurant make sure you book in the main building. By the way, it was impossible to get the kettle in the annex room under the tap in the bathroom. Apart from these comments we had an enjoyable stay.
4.6 Okay
Cons: Carpet needs replacing. Walls in the bathroom were all stained from a water leak. Mattress on double bed super hard.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I loved everything about the Old White Hart. The room was spotlessly clean, and the bathroom was amazing. Very glam. Shower was great and towels fresh. A very comfortable night. I went for the cooked breakfast which I thought might be overpriced at £15, however - I was wrong. Delicious and worth every penny. Highly recommended.
Cons: Nothing
5.8 Okay
Pros: The room was a good size
Cons: The room was in a cottage well away from the pub(wasn't expecting this) with no Wi-Fi or 4G, which made working impossible. The TV was tiny and poorly sited as it was placed at the far end of the room, miles away from the bed so hard to see. Wouldn't recommend for anyone who is travelling for work and needs to be online
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: Very unhelpful staff, dirty room, very overrated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, our room was amazing loved the layout. Very clean, the bed was comfy. Would defiantly stay again.
Cons: Breakfast could of been included in the price. Didn’t stay for breakfast as thought it was too expensive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice, comfortable room, quiet and homely. Breakfast exceeded my expectations
Cons: I liked everything about this property
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was part of a terrace of converted cottages in the heart of the village adjacent to the main building. The bathroom was beautiful and the small touches ,such as the shortbread and a ‘teddy bear ‘ were lovely.
Cons: Only downside was that being in a ground floor room I had to keep the blinds down but that didn’t detract from the overall experience much.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice and clean and in beautiful location.
Cons: No breakfast because booked through booking.com which was a total bind.

7.9 Good
Pros: The room was very nice. Big bed and the whirlpool bath. It was overlooking the street but wasn't too noisy
Cons: The parking was a bit difficult to find and then a case of maneuvering in a tight space. Ended up leaving the car parked all weekend and rescuing it once others had left. There is parking on the road outside but this has timing restrictions and was busy. The closest pay and display car parks were also busy

Pros: Every thing about the place
Cons: I liked everything about the place
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place for a night away. Beautifully clean room, well appointed. Great nights sleep in a comfy bed with comfy pillows. Breakfast was excellent with good quality food. The staff all seem happy to work there and are really pleasant and helpful. Gorgeous view over golf course to wake up to. Would recommend.
Cons: Eating in the evening was a bit of a voyage of discovery. We were looking for two restaurants but both seem to merge into one big room with everything in it. Even the menu was for both. Serve most things with chips.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Stayed overnight on our way north to Scotland for a family event. Because of time pressures, we arrived late and left early, so my review is a little limited. However, our room was clean and comfortable with all the standard facilities including coffee/tea making etc. The hotel is part of a golf complex, so we had a nice view over the golf course and ponds as we woke and showered. Convenient location, just off the A1.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and took the time to ensure our stay was easy. We had arranged to arrive late, however the late check in process was very simple and we were greeted by the porter. Our room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for a stop over. Breakfast over looking the golf course was a nice start to the day (well worth the extra £10). I really can’t fault our stay, thanks for having us.

6.3 Good
Pros: Evening meal excellent and staff very helpful.
Cons: Unable to operate heating in room. Unable to have natural ventilation over night(room 6) as there are no openable windows. Poor bathroom layout so no knee room in front of wc, also no shelving/storage area in bathroom. Disappointing breakfast, no fresh fruit as advertised and had run out of orange juice when we had breakfast at 8am. Breakfast available 7-10am.Dis

Pros: Beautiful rooms, super clean. Location was great , you're on the High street. Food amazing & great choice of drinks. Staff excellent .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and the bed comfortable
Cons: It would have been better to have s curtain on the roof windows as when it got light in the morning it flooded the room and woke us up
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully decorated, clean, lovely staff, delicious breakfast
Cons: The mattress. This was literally the only negative thing about our stay, but an important factor. It was thin and you could feel the springs - could do with an upgrade. Once that’s done, perfection and fantastic value for money! Will definitely stay again if the mattress is updated
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Non applicable really.
Mill Street Pub & Kitchen - Oakham - Building

8.8 Excellent (623 reviews)
C$ 154+
Overview Reviews

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great Breakfast on the sunday overcooked on the monday great choice
Cons: Only thing was noise from traffic early in morning when window open for fresh air
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the pub decor. Staff friendly. Breakfast delicious. Room design was great. In walking distance to the castle
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Overall you would find it hard to find better value for the money
Cons: Nothing to do with hotel just noisy road traffic early in morning due to us having window fully open as very hot weekend
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant breakfast! Perfect for pets! Friendly faces! Helpful host! We particularly liked having easy access to exit the building when we needed to walk our dog, clearly some thought had been given to which room we should have to make things easier for us. I would definitely say this is a dog friendly place. If I was the sort of person to take pictures of my food, I would’ve photographed my breakfast which was excellent. We will definitely return.
Cons: While I was pleased to be able to open our bedroom window quite wide, I was concerned about the weight of the sash and the fact that it was not possible to open it only a couple of inches. One could do that but it would mean wedging something in the bottom. Being a particularly hot night, we didn’t mind having the window wide open and we weren’t troubled by any street noise. I managed to get the last parking space in a very tight corner so that might have been a problem if there hadn’t been a space but there seemed to be ample street parking close by.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were spacious, clean and stylishly decorated. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the bar and restaurant offered an array of choice. Breakfast and dinner were excellent!
Cons: Only one minor criticism would be a lack of hooks/rails for hanging towels in the bathroom - May sound silly but this was a little annoying when showering.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Cramped room blinds didn’t block out street lights and road was noisy in room 3 causing a poor night sleep
6.7 Good
Pros: Usual good atmosphere and friendly staff.
Cons: The hotel seemed shabby and lacked the usual care and attention to cleanliness. Wasn’t hoovered the whole time we were there. No up to date pamphlets or leaflets. Instant coffee instead of fresh coffee for breakfast which is different to before.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location in centre of Oakham with parking, storage for bikes and friendly and helpful staff
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Quirky accommodation, well situated.
Cons: No razor socket - and we brought an electric toothbrush too!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely stay at Mill street pub and kitchen. We stayed only for one night as a half way point to stop off before continuing to Norfolk. The bedroom was modern and well presented, the bed was very comfortable. Delicious breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Dog friendly too which is a bonus. Perfect location for Oakham.
Cons: Nothing negative to say.

7.5 Good
Pros: Nice sized room, very dog friendly and staff welcoming. Good restaurant and enjoyed food.
Cons: No
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely setting and surroundings and very close to beautiful Rutland Water.
Cons: Shower needs updating that’s all.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very good customer service. Clean rooms and fabulous shower.
Cons: Bacon and sausage a bit dry at breakfast.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location to the lake, comfortable rooms, great outdoors areas which for the heat we had good to get a space
Cons: In our room (42) there were bugs trapped in spiders webs in the corners of the room and a decent amount above the curtain rails on the left. Also found it weird that we couldn’t turn the lamp on that sat on the main table without also having the main lights on
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is a fabulous hotel in a great location. The staff are superb and nothing is too much trouble. There were 12 of us staying for a reunion and all of us were delighted with Barnsdale Lodge as our choice.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: location
Cons: car park needs re-surfacing bad pot holes
8.3 Excellent
Pros: great setting and nice size room. Lovely gardens and walk areas. Food excellent.
Cons: Just a couple of minor things no dog pack and limited milk and sugars for drinks in the room. Reception only had very limited milks and sugar also no spare dog pack . The cheese and biscuits were on the small size 2 little biscuits a poor bit of celery a small piece of cheese and chutney. Felt it needed a little more grapes apple and a bit more cheese. But the stater and main courses were very tasty and well presented.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place and food . Very clean and comfortable
Cons: Being woken both mornings at 7.30 am by the ignorant guest in the room above us . The staff were told , however nothing was done as he wouldn’t answer his room phone or his door . Come home feeling more tired and stressed than when we arrived
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It has such character and charm, I especially liked how bright and open the conservatory dining area was. The staff were welcome and friendly and so very polite. The service was quick and the food was nothing short of spectacular, both for dinner and for breakfast.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Reception staff very obliging, comfortable lounge areas, pleasant courtyard and croquet lawn.
Cons: Rooms in old part of lodge were cramped, some with non-opening windows and no air conditioning. Larger beds would have been appreciated. Food was very disappointing and restaurant staff were brusque when two dishes were sent back to the kitchen. We should have been offered a replacement glass of wine when our waitress knocked one over. Also we suspect breakfasts were pre-cooked and kept warm, were certainly not hot, scrambled eggs were rubbery and toast was soggy with no toast rack.
The Finchs Arms - Oakham - Bedroom

8.6 Excellent (589 reviews)
C$ 166+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at The Finchs Arms in Oakham, you'll be a 1-minute drive from Rutland Water Nature Reserve and 5 minutes from Oakham Castle.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location is excellent. Great breakfast.
Cons: Our room was basic with a low bed. It was a very hot weekend and we were given one fan which helped a little. When we returned to our room on the first night, we had left a window partially ajar and there were a large number of insects in it. Probably our fault but difficult as the weather was so warm. When shown to our room we were not given much information about the facilities eg time and location of breakfast.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: My husband wasn't keen on the Bed but I think that is just personal preference
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent, and the food in the restaurant was great. We celebrated our wedding anniversary in style! We would also like to comment on the excellent service we received from all the staff. The restaurant waiters were all attentive and efficient and all other staff we came into contact with were very friendly and helpful. I would particularly like to thank reception staff who helped to find the ‘fitbit’ I left behind and posted it back to me. Many Thanks. I’m sure we’ll be back!
Cons: I would have appreciated more than one double plug socket , especially given the hot weather and the need for a fan.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good with an excellent selection served cheerully and efficiently. The Evening meals great, too.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Our stay at finch's Arms, was excellent, but the weather was exceptionally hot and it was difficult to sleep in the rooms, with the heat air-conditioning would be a great benefit
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is wonderful with so much to do and only a few minutes off the A1
Cons: The signage from the road when I arrived in the dark was a little hard to find/see.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location; the friendly and welcoming staff; excellent dinner and breakfast.
Cons: There were only 2 sockets in our bedroom. Apart from which, strongly recommended and we would stay there again if in the area.
7.5 Good
Pros: Set in a beautiful area of Leicestershire, lovely building and excellent food
Cons: Bed was very creaky so you couldn’t move without a dreadful noise
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The lovely friendly staff, comfortable room and first class restaurant. A lovely place to stay.

5.0 Okay
Pros: The chef was very friendly and welcoming and the towels were very soft.
Cons: The room was quite small and pokey. The waste paper bin in the room hadn’t been emptied and was full with empty beer cans. The decor was a little tired.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A great location just outside Oakham a 5 minute drive away. Good real ales on the bar, very friendly staff and a decent breakfast.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: All very welcoming and friendly. Lovely village.
Cons: All good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very well cooked and presented. The first day the service was very good but the second day it was terrible. This was not the Chef's fault. It was down to an inexperienced young person being left to cope. There was five people for breakfast three of which got the wrong meal and we went in at 8.15 and it took to 9,30 before we finished our one course breakfast.
Cons: the service at breakfast and the fact that the Bird Fair which attracts large numbers of people opens at 9.am and the exhibitors have to be in before the general public. the breakfast didn't open until 8.am and on Saturday 8.15 but the cereals, milk, juice etc were not brought out so until we complained perhaps on this special weekend the breakfast could start at 7.30
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean, the bed reasonably comfortable. The room was different to that we were expecting from the photograph on the website. It was a little larger than we had anticipated, which was good.
Cons: The room was facing a road which was quiet through the night but seemed surprisingly busy in the early morning and a little noisey. It did not help that street workman started before 7.30 and parked under our room. It was a shame that we could not eat at the restaurant in the evening as the chef was off sick.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely situation for an overnight travelling to France. Staff were friendly and responsive. Room was clean and fresh if a little cramped.
Cons: Food was well cooked but only very standard pub fare available. The cost of breakfast was included in Room price. Breakfast was served from 8am we were told. We arrived just before 8 as we were very tight for time. Main building was still locked up and a member of staff was also trying to gain access. Member of staff holding keys, and presumably cooking breakfast, arrived a few minutes after 8. We didn’t bother waiting - would have taken too long. Not unreasonable to expect that breakfast is served from 8 - in this case they were just turning everything on and getting things set up!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location and perfect for visiting Rutland water. Very welcoming and efficient staff. Really dog friendly too!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The full English breakfast was well cooked and tasted fabulous
4.2 Okay
Pros: Clean and comfy bed and soft pillows.
Cons: Poor choice at breakfast. Out of date cereals. First morning 'toast' was warm stale bread, so second morning requested well done toast and this was served BLACK by the chef puffing and blowing because he was on his own, No other member of staff was present.

Pros: Great relaxing location, spa and swimming pool just brilliant. Good breakfast with a really wide bath for a soothing soak in the bedroom.
Cons: N/a
5.8 Okay
Pros: Rooms could do with an upgrade
6.7 Good
Pros: The bed was comfortable. Close to spa centre, literally a minute walking distance. Lovely location next to the lake- beautiful views
Cons: The room had no daylight, a path next to the window which overlooked another’s wall. Also, for two people with suitcases there was not enough room, it get very cramped. The bathroom had a mirror on the side of the wall next to the sink- quite odd place to put it and not at all practical (??).
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting, good facilities, nice walks.
Cons: Room was at the back and faced a wall, felt dungeon like. It was also not up to my standard of cleaning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent value for money. Beautiful location. Only stayed one night but I'd love to go back for a week's holiday. Staff smart, pleasant and friendly.
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: A superb location by Rutland Water, with very well kept landscaped grounds which created a relaxing environment. My wife and the friend who came with us were pleased with the swimming facilities, and we all enjoyed the restaurant in the evening. We would definitely go back for another short break.
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice hotel in a lovely setting.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very relaxed and plentiful. There is a good view of the reservoir from the grounds with access to the cycle/footpath around the reservoir. Close to Oakham, the reservoir visitors centre and wildlife reserve. Bar meals were good value for money and the onion rings side order gorgeous.
Cons: There wasn't a draft real ale on in the bar and I had to drink bottled beer. The pump was there but not being used, the barrel had run out over the weekend apparently but was not changed.
7.9 Good
Pros: The breakfast was excelant and the location was stunning

7.1 Good
Pros: Food was very good
Cons: The bath taps didn't work as well as lack of hot water (at all). The electrics kept tripping in our room which meant we couldn't use the kettle / hair dyer etc. Our bathroom particularly was very disappointing due to broken appliances. The wall outside the room clearly had severe damp issues which weren't being addressed.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Good breakfast
Cons: No hot water
7.9 Good
Pros: The breakfast was excellent, we had evening meal also excellent. Location was very good. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Hotel room needed updating a little tired, shower door wouldn't close ,so slight flood.

Pros: Location spot on, lovelly village
Cons: No atmosphere, staff did not seem interested. One ever one person on duty
7.1 Good
Pros: Wonderful location in village. Good sized room in annex, lots of storage space
Cons: Staff did not appear until 1800hrs to check me in. Fortunately it was a sunny day otherwise i would have had to sit in my car for an hour.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice location. Very clean rooms and comfortable bed.
Cons: Hotel needs a little TLC in places. Only one member of staff on both in the afternoon when we arrived (manning reception, sorting the wifi issues and covering the bar) and again in the morning for breakfast. We spent quite a bit of time waiting around to be served breakfast and also to check out and pay the bill as the member of staff working was serving breakfasts in the dining room.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The staff tried very hard
Cons: Uncomfortable no remote control for tv, rooms very basic. Totally understaffed on Wednesday evening they had one girl running reception, bar and restaurant!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The welcome, friendly and professional. V genuinely caring.

7.5 Good
Pros: The staff were good. Dining experience also good.
Cons: We booked a room with garden view. Sorry, but a small window, quite high up, with a bush obscuring everything is not a garden view. The bathroom, whilst clean, had a very odd toilet contraption/bidet and a whirlpool bath - not the sort of things one expects.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location
Cons: Small bathroom for 3 adults
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast very nice, maybe water be made available
Cons: Bacon a little overcooked
7.1 Good
Pros: The location being close to Rutland Water with stunning views, lovely walks and good parking. The few staff there were polite and helpful and the evening meal was lovely.
Cons: There were insufficient staff on duty the day we arrived resulting in long waits for service at the bar. The buffet breakfast was not good, it was barely warm and the continental choice was very poor with basic sliced bread. The service was not so good at breakfast with guest being left without more coffee and tea.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: The position on Rutland Water, the staff were good, the food was good.
Cons: The hotel layout was odd and a little tired. Rooms were good but dark and (for our room) the possible view was shrouded by an overgrown hedge.
6.3 Good
Pros: Absolutely fantastic location. The hotel was dirty and poorly maintained. The staff were lovely, but it seemed that they were understaffed. It could be a wonderful hotel with a bit more investment to bring it up to scratch. Shame really.
Cons: See above
7.1 Good
Pros: Very nice location, peaceful, and great breakfast! Beautiful view of the lake from the room. Room was clean, good facilities in the room
Cons: It was a pleasant stay, food in the restaurant was ok. The staff weren't as attentive as you would expect. They were friendly but didn't say much or ask how the stay was on checkout. The room was clean apart from several squashed bugs on the walls. Overall nice stay though
6.7 Good
Pros: The staff couldn’t have been more helpful, very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Rooms very grubby with cobwebs in corners, nets full of flys and insects. Dirty windows. Sticky cup ring marks on breakfast tables. Everywhere needs a good clean.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room with private balcony. Wedding taking place at Hotel which was not a problem for us at all
Cons: Nothing to complain about
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Proximity to the lake, walks, photography
4.2 Okay
Pros: The location is beautiful.
Cons: Food could have certainly been better. We had an evening meal which was extremely poor and for which we received a discount on the bill.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location was lovely and the room was spacious and well equipped and the beds were comfortable. Lovely views, gardens and children's play area.
Cons: The food at dinner was absolutely awful. We all ordered different dishes and all were equally dreadful. The warm ham and cheese panini was cold and the ham was very fatty and we were told that all the ham was like that, the chips tasted like they had been re-cooked (and not in a triple-cooked chips type-way) and the risotto was swimming in oil and cream. The service was slow and unprofessional. We went elsewhere for breakfast.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, lovely large room
6.3 Good
Pros: When we arrived we were given a key for our room, we had a quick browse around and discovered that 1 of the windows locks was broken in which I was not happy about and did not feel safe with leaving our belongings in the room , I did explain this to the general manager who quickly resolved this situation and gave us another room, a much bigger room. The rooms do need a update and carpets do need a good refresh but Overall the staff were friendly.
6.3 Good
Pros: My bed was very comfy. The breakfast was lovely and the breakfast staff were very pleasant.
Cons: Bar lady was unable to pull pints which is crazy considering she is working in a bar !! All keys can open all doors - not good.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff were fantastic, room was reasonably comfortable and breakfast was excellent
Cons: Dinner menu was a bit limited but it was Sun/Mon night and to be fair so was everywhere else in Oakham
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff are excellent, especially the man from The Gambia, great personality. Food very good.
Cons: The lounge/bar area is in urgent need of a refit, the bay window cushion is totally threadbare and very dirty, the chairs and stools need replacing. Wouldn’t cost too much to make it more presentable.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: My wife and I have just had a very pleasant stay at the Whipper-In Hotel, the staff were both welcoming and attentive at all times, nothing was to much trouble. The hotel is full of character, it is an old building a ghost or two would not be amiss although we didn’t come across any. The bedroom was a good size complete with en-suite bathroom, with a nice comfortable double bed and a decent amount of storage space. Complimentary tea & coffee making facilities, bottled water and biscuits were also available in the room. Downstairs there is a restaurant with a great choice available on the menu for your meals, a bar split into a bright modern area with plenty of tables and chairs where you may want to have a bar meal or lighter snack along with coffee and teas, the other part is comfortable lounge area a little darker, beamed easy to relax in with a glass of wine or a beer, they also have a decent range of whisky, gins and other spirits. To the rear of the building is a nice patio area with plenty of seating, it is also nicely sheltered which may help as we head towards autumn. A private (free) car park is also available not to far away and although there is limited space there are plenty of other parking options close by. The hotel itself is located in Oakham’s small town centre, on the market place and close to the castle. The town as many options with regards to restaurants, bars & cafes. Shops, banks, post office and other facilities are very close by. The hotel is currently undergoing a few upgrades to rooms and public areas but this in no way affected our stay, all in all we had a fabulous stay and were well looked after by Maria, Anna & Lemmy (hope I got the names right) and of course the other guys & gals in the background. In fact we enjoyed it so much we have already booked to return for a three night stay with other friends towards the end of October 19 and we are very much looking forward to it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quaint hotel in the muddle of Oakham. Very clean, all staff very helpful. A well positioned, friendly, clean and great value hotel. Good breakfast choice.
Cons: Not a dislike and not really a negative, just to manage expectations, it’s a very old building and is showing years of use, it still has an actual key to get in the room, not a rubbish plastic card, we found the decoration added to the overall atmosphere of the place, good and traditional. Breakfast is what we expected for the money, a good choice of cereals, bread, fruit etc but only one sausage on the full English! Perking is the only negative if you arrive late, the car park is round the corner from the main door and is limited, but the is a pay and display right next door so whilst there is no shortage of parking you might just have to pay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent. Room very clean and comfortable. Great location. Very helpful and friendly staff especially Maria on Reception.
Cons: Nothing.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Bathroom - mirror was too low - difficulty shaving. Shower - hand held shower standing in bath with no shower curtain Breakfast - catering sausage (there's a good local butcher!), bacon was like leather - must have been under a heat lamp for a while. Melon was unripe.
