Pros: I loved the welcome, the location (just next to the entry to old town, the historic house the B&B was in, the room, basically everything. Great value for money indeed!
Cons: There was nothing negative about it. Breakfast was simple, but really ok for the price.

Pros: A very warm welcome by João, very nice and hospitable. Takes time to explain everything, in and around the house. Perfectly located to visit the old centre.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: João is the most nice and friendly person we met in Portugal. he did everything he can to make our stay perfect, he explained us about the place history and about the local drink in obidos. Room was clean the breakfast was good and the location was prefect. We enjoyed our stay there very much
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Casa do Fontanário de Óbidos is a little treasure. This is a very special and unique accommodation right outside the walls of the old town of Óbidos which makes it an ideal location for visiting the gorgeous old town. Stepping into this guesthouse is like taking a step back in time. The house is full of character and charm and oldie world style. Casa do Fontanário de Óbidos is run by Joáo, an extremely friendly and welcoming guy. He couldn't do enough for us. He was amazing. He helped us to park our car on the tiny hilly street, he recommended nice restaurants, provided us with water and gave us advice for our onward journey. Breakfast was plentiful and was served by a lovely lady. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit Óbidos and experience something special at a very reasonable price.
Cons: We have no complaints at all.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very good location, impressive old building, nice room, good breakfast, helpful owners.
Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is super charming and literally in front of the Wall surrounding the city. It is the home of a couple and their grandson and they take care of everything! The breakfast is amazing, you feel like you are a guest! João is super nice and offered us a home Ginjinha (famous liquor from Óbidos) during our checkin. It is 5 minutes from the center of the city! Perfect!
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was amazing, just next to the city wall. Everything was walking distance. The place itself was so nice and cute and comfortable and clean. The host was FANTASTIC. Showed us around the property, helped us with out luggage, made sure we had parking, gave us a map of the town with recommendations, shared some of his family's home made ginga. Breakfast was great as well. They have breakfast beginning at 8:35 am because the fresh bread arrives at 8:30 am. Everything was just wonderful. This was one of my husband and I's favorite places to stay during our Honeymoon through Portugal and we hope to go back someday soon!

Pros: Beach area.
Cons: The food was not representative of a 5 star resort. Limited entertainment options. You need to travel to the near by city for better restaurants and bars.
7.5 Good
Pros: Bed extra comfy
Cons: Strong coffee at breakfast and bar pool over busy at lunchtime meaning we had to wait for table or eat in sun lounger
9.2 Excellent
Pros: we liked everything about the hotel
Cons: we were family and inspit our request the rooms were far from each other , we left early in the morning and we asked for wake up call and early breakfast ,after approval of our request we were not woke up and no early breakfast...
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The overall experience was very good. The staff from the time we arrived until the time we left were attentive and kind. Our ground floor room was private with amazing views of the ocean and natural landscaping was amazing including easy access to the pristine beach from our room albeit many steps on a comfortable staircase to reach the beach but well worth it. Room service was excellent with healthy portions and nice presentation. We would and will definitely visit and stay at this Marriot again.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly Staff in the buffet breakfast, Beautiful beach coastline at front of hotel Cleanlyness and room cleaning Al La Carte restaurant was quite good food and very good service, recommended
Cons: Poor policy on halfboard, we were paying e284/night for 2 people halfboard. But the policy on switching between the restaurants was joke4! Nice bar but food was dissappointing, we ordered pizza for children with us on one of our evening, it was awful, expensive and not up to 5* expectation .. 10e for a Jack Daniel whiskey was rip off even for 5* Portugal

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was adorable, staff was amazing, and the price was fair. I loved sitting out on the veranda and watching the scenery. The location was great for shopping, eating, and right near the castle.
Cons: The only thing would be not to go right in summer because there was no air conditioning.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Located just outside the city walls, it’s a good for a short stay. There is a private terrace with a great view where you can sit and drink some wine.
Cons: The soundproofing of the room is poor, so you can hear your neighbors. The room is not air-conditioned and if you open the window it can be noisy and can get chilly. But with closed window it gets very humid in the room.

Hotel Casa Das Senhoras Rainhas - Óbidos - Building
4
9.0 Excellent (818 reviews)
C$ 169+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Casa Das Senhoras Rainhas, you'll be centrally located in Obidos, a 2-minute drive from Obidos Castle and 7 minutes from Barata Feyo Museum. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff couldn’t be more helpful. They patiently explained how to get around inside the walled city.
Cons: Additional instructions about how to find the hotel together with car parking information would have been great. It’s hard to find as the GPS gets confused.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The hotel is located in an old building, which makes it an attraction in itself. Although the decoration is not necessarily a plus, the rooms were clean, shower was hot and strong, and the beds were comfortable and covered with clean and fresh bedclothes. Location for access to attractions is great, as we were virtually in the middle of them within the Citadel (Rua Direita with all its stores, the castle of Obidos, and other medieval constructions in historic Obidos).
Cons: The hotel is located inside the citadel, which is good to have access to attractions, but reaching the hotel can be rather difficult, especially if you arrive at night. Access by car is particularly difficult, because it is not trivial to find the entrance of the citadel, the region is very hilly and the streets are cobbled and parking space is very limited inside. All that was poorly communicated by the hotel before our stay, although we have mentioned our concerns about arriving by car (we ended up arriving late at night and couldn't find the hotel; eventually we had to park our car in a parking lot outside of the citadel and walk with our luggage to the hotel, which was also complicated because of the cobbled streets.) Breakfast was a big deception because the selection was rather poor (e.g., there was only fruit salad and no other fresh fruit, and by the time we arrived at the buffet there were no eggs) and service was slow. We didn't bother much at the time, but that is something that called our attention later on when we arrived at Spot Apartments in Porto, and breakfast was excellent. Then we compared prices and we realized how overpriced Casa das Senhoras Rainhas had been! Staff was cordial but, again, not that helpful when needed, especially when we were handling luggage and car.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable clean rooms, good size, toiletries good, linen great quality.
Cons: Breakfast could be improved both ambience and quality. Staff appeared to be arguing during breakfast service behind the scenes.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: the restaurant served excellent dinner, the staff was friendly and accommodating. Attractive and clean property.
Cons: Biggest draw back for us was that there was no coffee in the room, which is an issue for myself and my husband before breakfast. No hair conditioner either- Minor details but for a four-star property I would have expected this.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Super helpful staff. Location is amazing, within the city walls, just a minute away from everything! Room had a nice little balcony to relax in the morning. Comfy pillows.
Cons: Bed was a bit too bouncy for my taste, but that's it, really.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding boutique hotel inside the walls of Obidos, but on a quiet side street. A few minutes walking from the bus station, great restaurants, and the main streets of Obidos. Rooms were bright, airy, and large. Staff was extremely helpful and on duty at the front desk 24/7. Breakfast had solid diversity and a good range of hours. Patio/balcony was welcome and offered privacy even at the ground-floor level (since it opened to a large but beautiful empty space occasionally used for restaurant seating during the evenings). Highly recommended!
Cons: N/A
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff friendliness, the very nice breakfast, the location.
Cons: Room is spacious but could do with a few amenities such as a coffee machine. The mattress is kind of floating; one moves on one side and the other jumps up and down.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, wonderfully friendly staff, great breakfast, and the back patio was so peaceful. Just what we needed after a long day. Loved staying in the “hotel of the queens.” The amenities were great- provided water, had a great minibar selection, and an elevator!! It’s been tough with a large suitcase.
Cons: Everything was wonderful!
6.7 Good
Pros: The staff were very helpful and friendly
Cons: The breakfast options were very limited and not if good quality. It was also very difficult to find the hotel by car , so would not recommend anything other than a smart car to drive round the castle streets

5.8 Okay
Pros: The Spa
Cons: Location and the outside constructions just near the hotel
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel instalations are good, the service is nice, the staff is really thoughtful. The breakfast had a good variaty of food and the quality was great.
Cons: The constructions that are in place, sort of ruins the whole experience. The ocean view is amazing, it's a pitty that this is going on.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is a golf resort and perfectly located on the ocean side. Breakfast was good and stuff was very attentive. I definitely recommend this place to stay
4.2 Okay
Cons: Actually they are building new residences right in front of the hotel, right next to the swimming pool. It's impossible to stay at the swimming pool. Instead of having a room with sea view, you have a view of a construction site and noise from eight o'clock in the morning to seven o'clock in the evening
7.9 Good
Pros: The hotel is really nice and great staff
Cons: Go to this place after the construction is over.. 2021!! You only see construction workers!

Casa de Sao Thiago d' Obidos - Óbidos - Building

8.8 Excellent (406 reviews)

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Casa de Sao Thiago d' Obidos in Obidos, you'll be in the historical district, within a 10-minute drive of Obidos Castle and Barata Feyo Museum. Featured amenities include multilingual staff and luggage storage.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This was a charming guesthouse. The hallways are awfully small and crowded with antiques so one needs to be careful with ones luggage but overall it was comfortable, clean and not too expensive. I had a nice view over the rooftops from my room. I arrived early and my room was ready and she let me check in which was really nice.
Cons: The breakfast was nothing special -- could be upgraded - but at least they offered breakfast!. My room was a bit small if there had been two of us it would have been cramped. But since it is a very very old building that is to be expected.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location and quaint interior design. Staff were particularly helpful. I left something in the room and they posted it on to me. Breakfast was great! A large choice and delicious fruit salad.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location, right next to the gate and bus stop. Classic Interior, homely, nice host, clean. Early breakfast on request
Cons: A hair dryer would have been nice
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to the city center, very nice and kind stuff, lovely breakfast
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great little hotel! Comfy bed, clean rooms, good breakfast, kind staff. Right by the bus drop off / parking area at the city gate, very easy to find.
Cons: This is not the hotel’s fault, but there was a band concert in the building next door, so we couldn’t sleep for a long time. We closed the windows to block out the sound, but this made the room hot - so a fan would have been nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Nice and clean. Lovely relaxed and quiet stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The inn is so cozy and fits in perfectly with the charming walled City of Obidos. The mornings and evenings before the crowds arrived were magical and the location perfect just steps from the bus stop but inside the wall. Anna was a delight and decor totally adorable!
Cons: Nothing
7.9 Good
Pros: - good location, not far from the public parking, in a quiet side street - cute traditional decoration - fresh orange juice for breakfast
Cons: - the room was very small so we were lucky travelling with only one piece of small-size luggage - it’s unfortunate but we could hear someone snoring in the next room... - except the fresh orange juice, the breakfast was just average
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Excellent staff. Excellent breakfast. Excellent house. Excellent facilities. Can't expect anymore. Everything was so good that I would like to come back only for a peaceful and enjoyable stay. Thanks to the owner for equipping the traditional house with modern facilities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect in the old city but close to entrance which helps dragging luggage over cobblestones. Super friendly, helpful host Anna which made our experience more enjoyable. Breakfast included was a bonus.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was so good, inside the villa, the place, all really good. Excellent
9.6 Excellent
Cons: The hotel is marvelously appointed with antique furniture and artifacts while the rooms retain all conveniences of modern times. Beautiful and cosy courtyard, and best of all you are right inside the medieval fortress of Obidos. The staff are very friendly and helpful and made sure that our stay was absolutely perfect.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old house situated right next to the castle inside the town walls. The location of the property is perfect if you are arriving by foot. The beds were very comfortable and the town was very quiet at night. The staff was helpful and friendly. Nice decent breakfast. The property and its decor has been kept and it almost feels like a warp back in time.
Cons: The Wi-Fi was poor in some areas of the property. The bread/pastries offered in breakfast weren’t very fresh. The inside courtyard smelled a bit of sewage which I believe it’s something common for an old property such as this one. Not very easy access if you are arriving by car. Unrelated to the property but something that had an effect in our stay was the fact that Óbidos has completely lost it's essence and is now overrun with tourists and almost no residents. It almost felt like a theme park. Such a shame. Completely different story even a couple of years ago.
7.9 Good
Pros: The location. This 130 year old property was inside the castle walls and added to the medieval experience.
Cons: Difficult to access by road but worth the effort.
7.5 Good
Pros: Excellent location, friendly staff and loved the beautiful Portuguese decor-great value and lovely, charming hotel.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Mr. Carlos, the host, was very kind and made us feel very welcome. The property is an old house that may look cluttered at first, but once you learn how to navigate the narrow corridors and magic doors, you'll feel at home.
Cons: The breakfast experience felt a bit impersonal, as we sat there alone and were handed some pre-packaged food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great quiet location in the village center.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location inside the walls.
Cons: The hotel and parking was difficult to find. The parking was not very close. The hotel was dated and tired. The room smelt musty and you could smell sewerage outside the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really quaint house in perfect location at the top end of the Main Street. Room was comfortable and quiet - we were able to keep windows open til early morning. Staff were very helpful. Lots of lovely indoor and outdoor spots to enjoy & relax in within the property. Pretty good breakfast spread.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: friendly, quiet, relaxing wellness for body and soul directly at the large pool! its really a retreat in every sense of the word since it is off from any big cities or noisy tourist spots!
Cons: really nothing!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast, the room and the pool!
Cons: We would have wanted food on the property and more than one massage therapist.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Tea room with tea and cookies. Everyone very nice and dilligent. We were given marshmallows by the fire pit. The kids loved it.
Cons: You do not have much privacy as all rooms face each other.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice location, it's quiet and walking distance to the beautiful lagoon. Some typical Portuguese restaurants close by, 5 min by car. The service is very friendly and punctual. Order breakfast at 8h30 and you will get it at 8h30 exactly :-)
Cons: You do need a car, there is no shop or restaurant at walking distance. But this didn't bother us, the plus side of that is that it's quiet, a good place to relax.
6.7 Good
Pros: Nice room but for a retreat they could have done a lot more. Only small Jacuzzi and sauna and salt room enough for two people. When the retreat gets busy difficult to use. Shame pool wasn't heated so you could use all the year round. A nice organic cafe on premises would have been lovely but you had to drive to buy anything.
Cons: All the tv was in German nothing in English. Wi-Fi was terrible. Maybe yoga classes would have been nice if other activities that go with a retreat in offer?

Located in Obidos, Casa d'Óbidos is in a rural location, a 3-minute drive from Obidos Castle and 6 minutes from Barata Feyo Museum. Featured amenities include multilingual staff and refrigerator in a common area. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available on request), and free self parking is available onsite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: LIked the unique style. A Portuguese Casa. Kitchen facilities not extensive, but very adequate. We liked the warmth of our welcome. We liked the parking just outside our Casa. We liked our view of the castle and the location to the town. Very quiet.
Cons: The stairs from the bedroom to the bathroom at night are deceptive and deep. Very tricky as the rooms are very dark at night. I couldn't arrange the lighting so that the bathroom was lit, but not keeping us awake. My husband fell during the night missing his footing on the last step.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful house and rooms. Friendly staff. Fast communication.
Cons: The mattress could be more comfortable - but everything is authentic and very beautiful.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location is set in beautiful gardens. The house is old but well presented.
Cons: If you will have trouble taking cases upstairs be warned there is no lift.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Huge rooms and bathroom. Character of the property was something we’ve never seen before, felt like a palace! Really clean. Friendly staff. Pool was lovely.
Cons: Not really a bad thing but be aware breakfast is a very communal experience. All guests sit round one big table and pass each other the jam!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location, views, relative spaciousness of the apartment, countryside feel and proximity to nature, walk to the town.
Cons: No breakfast when staying in the apartments, but even that was not a problem since fresh bread and pastry were provided (hanged on the door) by the property staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, fresh bread hanging on for knob each morning, pool, the list goes on, wonderful place, Joao was great, highly recommend
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: The little “cottage” we had was very cosy, clean, well presented and close to restaurants. And having a castle in the back yard was a bonus! It was close enough to the town centre for it to be convenient but far enough away for it to feel secluded.
Cons: The bed was really hard (for me anyway!). I ended up padding the mattress with the spare blanket to help alleviate my sore hips!
7.1 Good
Pros: Staff friendliness
Cons: Location
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location; 20 minutes walk via a lane to medieval town with great atmosphere. Lovely Casa, great breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s a beautiful location with wonderful views of the castle. The grounds, pool, and facilities exceeded our expectations. The rooms and bathroom were all spacious with fine views of the surrounding orchards and castle. Mimi and Jao were easy to get on with and gave us tips on getting around. The castle is easily within walking distance, and there are eating places very close by, so you don’t need the car. It’s a beautiful grand old place
Cons: Nothing to add here.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere, the surroundings, the sense of history were amazing. The staff are really professional and customer service-oriented. They apologized profusely for the shower incident the next day. The restaurant is beautiful and the food there is great.
Cons: Our shower flooded the whole bathroom (the water didn't go down the plug, it just kept welling up)...had to use all the towels to mop up the water. I could've called reception but it was midnight and my partner was asleep. For the price you pay, things like these just shouldn't happen.

Pros: Our dinner and breakfast at the Pousada was very good and the waiters were all excellent.
Cons: A very expensive stay for what you get! We had a spacious room but we weren’t warned that tourist groups would have access to the area where our room was located so we had no privacy. We had loads of people trying to peer into our room with no consideration. The room itself was ok, with no extra touches that you would expect from a Pousada and the prices charged.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Quaint old village with good restaurants and shops. We enjoyed strolling around the town in the evening. They offered a nice buffet breakfast with lots of choices.
Cons: Room was very basic with tired furnishing.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Nothing really
Cons: Old fashioned. Commercial. Too touristic for our taste.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly!
5.4 Okay
Pros: Unique, located in the heart of the city
Cons: No comforts at all, railings, elevators, parking,or valet and lots and lots and lots of stairs!
4.0 Okay
Pros: The view
Cons: The stairs, the restaurant
4.6 Okay
Cons: Our room was not in the castle at all, but in an adjoining building, 3 floors down the street level. You should be more careful in advertising a historical location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the atmosphere. The staff were extremely friendly and couldn’t help us enough. The views are amazing and the breakfast was excellent. I am very happy that I decided to spend a bit more money and stay in the tower room. A once in a lifetime opportunity to stay in such an historic building.
Cons: The climb up to the hotel is hard work. But worth the effort
6.7 Good
Pros: It was very tricky trying to find the Pousada Castelo de Obidos, we had to call for proper directions once we were in the walls of Obidos. So many people walking in the streets, so it is a challenge to drive, but we were fine because we are use to it. Unfortunately I am comparing it to other Pousadas and because this one is situated in an old castle and one of Portugal's Seven Wonders, it has that very old musty smell everywhere, but it was a very unique place with historic charm. The location is perfect to venture off to the Batalha Monastery, Tomar, Convento di Cristo, Fatima, Nazare, Mira de Aire Caves, Grutas da Moeda and Peniche. We stayed at the Pousada for two nights, and this was enough to see Obidos, but not enough to get around to all the other wonderful places I mentioned. The restaurant has charm, a little expensive and the food at dinner was ok for us, again comparing it to other restaurants all over Portugal. It has fantastic views of the Country side and very historic town but way too many tourists visit in the day, that looses it's charm in my opinion. There is not much to see in the castle just the hotel, the outside exterior is were the beauty is. Still worth a visit and stay for something unique. A special thank you to Fabio, he has exceptional customer service attributes.
Cons: Comments of dislikes above.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, near the old town so you could walk from the property. They have a pool and it is also safe for the kids because there's a fence to the pool area as well as to the road. The room was comfortable, big bed, nice bathroom and everything was clean. The staff was very helpful and super friendly. Would go back again for sure!
Cons: Everything was great!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Large room. Great location. Very courteous staff. Gave us great recommendation for dinner at local non-touristy restaurant outside of the castle walls. Excellent breakfast!! We rented a car so parking essential. They had private parking area inside.
Cons: No internet signal in our room. Had to go to 24hr rec room. Bathroom was very tight.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at The Literary Man in Obidos, you'll be a 2-minute drive from Obidos Castle and 10 minutes from Barata Feyo Museum. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is really beautiful and very different from a normal hotel. As soon as you enter this hotel you feel the magic of literature. I loved it
7.5 Good
Pros: Great look. Feels like stepping into another world.
Cons: There was a lot of lighting in the restaurant. Could have halved the light level and it would still have been bright enough. Our room did not have a good aspect looking out onto the internal courtyard. Cleaning staff were lurking around window in the morning while I was getting ready so had to close the shutters. Not great value for money, accommodation or the restaurant. Our meal was expensive and the room was very disappointing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Restaurant is quite good and the value for money was overall very good.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful design hotel located in a ex convent with book everywhere. Large and clean room, Excellent continental breakfast and good restaurant. Gin-tonic to be tasted.
Cons: Nothing at that price
7.1 Good
Pros: The dining area was absolutely stunning! Great atmosphere. Popular restaurant and great Gin selection.
Cons: The bedrooms are under whelming. Very basic for the money you pay. Bathroom stank of urine, and in general they are in need of maintenance and an upgrade. Pillows and mattress were extremely soft.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The quirky wall to wall books. Design touches with originality. Perfect location just outside the walls so parking was a dream.
Cons: Room was a little small but a factor of the original building use.
7.9 Good
Pros: Very quirky hotel. Nice breakfast. Plenty of bookshelves to explore. Good range of gins, if you like gin. Good location for exploring the walled village nearby, the main gate being a short walk up a rather steep bill. Rooms pleasant, if a little spartan... well it wasn’t original convent I suppose.
Cons: The bathrooms had no obvious ventilation resulting in a complaint from one of our party that there was a permanent drain smell in theirs. Despite a promise at check in we never received the “romantic package” promised in one of the room descriptions and, presumably, also included in the price. Staff sometimes elusive ( although most pleasant when actually there).
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The decoration makes this place unforgettable. The location and staff is also great.
Cons: The lack of sunlight make the carpe with a mouldy smell, which can give the wrong impression. Because The hotel was sparkling clean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the whole hotel’s concept. We also had a nice courtyard outside our room, which was the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine. It was easy to walk into the village, which was quant. Lots of tourists, but we did find a nice place with a view to enjoy a couple of beers. We had dinner in the hotel, and it was one of the best meal we had during our whole trip.
Cons: Parking was a bit of a challenge. It’s very, very hilly and parallel parking was almost impossible in some areas. Don’t park directly in front of the hotel, go around a bit where it’s a little more level. We saw a car that was blocked in, because they couldn’t back up without hitting the car in front of them. The owner of the other car finally came out, but they could of been stuck there for a very long time had they not been located.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The actual space, rooms of the hotel are so unique and atmospheric. Helpful staff, excellent breakfast - great value for money.
Cons: Not an issue for us, but there is no wifi throughout the hotel, but you need to go to specific hot spots if you want to access the internet via the hotel free wifi.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The literary theme of the hotel is unique, Gin and wine bar awesome, very informed servers, eager and knowledgeable, friendly, gin and tonics great; food in the restaurant a TEN, best meal we had in Portugal; you can watch your meal being cooked if you want. If you go to this area you should stay here for one night, even if you also stay in the expensive Pousada on the hill as well; literary man is a real bucket list experience as far as hotels go.
Cons: Pillows too soft, mattress kind of hard, but didn’t really matter. Be prepared for possible parking challenge, but you will be able to park, Antonio will help you! No elevator, just FYI, prepare smaller bag just for the night so you don’t have to take in all you luggage.
Overview Reviews
This family-friendly Obidos aparthotel is located by the ocean, within 2 mi (3 km) of Golf Club Praia d'El Rey and Praia do Bom Sucesso. Bom Sucesso Golf Course is 2.3 mi (3.8 km) away.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Huge villa with outstading oceanview. You need a car to get there. Reception is 2,2km away
7.9 Good
Pros: Location and high spec apartments
Cons: Damp smell in basement bed room and black mould Marks in showers
7.1 Good
Pros: The views and sunsets where amazing!
Cons: We stayed in Praia del Rey in private villa's several times so we where familiar with the resort. First time staying at the beach front and we where very excited to have the amazing views and Sunset's. The Beachfront is in need of a of a lot of TLC, the walls are discoloured on the outside and inside and the townhouse was missing a fair amount of touches for a 5 start property. i.e. soap dishes, glasses for toothbrushes in toilets. Board games/family packs for the house to use, washing machine was not working properly. We had to complaint about our 5th day full house clean as the house wasn't touched apart from the beds. The downstairs had a very strong smell of damp which should be addresses immediately prior to re renting the property. The biggest disappointment this year was the lack of facilities versus previous years. The Mare restaurant used to be open all day for drinks and snacks and now its barely open for breakfast and dinner. The kids club was fully booked on all days and the family excursions where booked up for the week. The Marriott wanted to charges us EUR35.00 each to use their pool for a couple of hours which is totally crazy. This was our 4th time in Praia del Rey and we where actually interested in buying in the resort but we have come away very disappointed this time and are now looking at alternative options.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location on the beach. Fabulous views. Fantastic golf course
Cons: Our apartment was right above the swimming pool so it was quite noisy during the day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel to stay overnight if you visit Sintra. The views to the ocean and the beach are beautiful. We also had a great dinner in the hotel. Breakfast was good too. There is a parking area in front of the reception.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location within steps of a superb beach, spacious living room/kitchen, well equipped apartment
Cons: Improved attention to detail from the staff servicing the apartment
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything the view, the decor, the equipment provided
Cons: Not applicable!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: During our trip across Portugal, we stayed in Beachfront Hotel one day and it was a mistake, because we should stay here for at least 3-4 days. So if you visited Lisbon and you are a little bit tired and if you plan to go to Porto next it's perfect location to rest in apartment almost on the beach. Take one of "C" apartments (we had 08) because you will have the best ocean view - last line of apartments and no apartments below. Two level apartment is very spacious with large terraces and kitchen so you can eat breakfasts even at 11 (buy Delta capsules for coffee machine). The rest is quite usual for all hotels: sunset at the ocean, listening to the ocean, ocean breathtaking and other ocean activities :).
Cons: Maybe if we stay longer I could find something.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice apartment, great view.
Cons: For breakfast we had to drive over 3km to another hotel . It changed after few days and again, no one told us... Unfortunately breakfast at Mare restaurant was very poor (including serving bad juice). Reception also faaar away.

Pros: Views of the coastline. Very Nice Apartment. Clean
Cons: A bit far from Everything Price level is high
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Beach is stunning. Waves insane. Visit the town of Obidos. Go early to avoid the coach tours that pour in. Quaint walled town.
Cons: We requested the master bedroom to be made up as a double for myself and my husband, received a reply saying it would be done. when we got to our room it hadn't been done. We were told we would have to wait until the next day. We were only there for 4 nights and for the money we paid and they claimed to be a luxury property, it certainly wasn't a luxury service. No air conditioning. You cant leave your patio doors open as the balconies form both directions are so close you can climb over them. We didn't like the idea of anyone being able to get in our room when we were asleep. Very over built, sprawling resort in the middle of no where. Swimming pool needed cleaning. Definitely aroma of children's wee! Has a small supermarket. opening hours not great and overpriced. This is at height of summer! Shop in Obidos before you arrive. Kitchen not equipped to a great standard. Very basic.
6.7 Good
Pros: Calm place this time of year (June). Apartment had wide areas. Wonderful view over the Golf field and ocean. The pool was nice too.
Cons: The apartment was on the 3rd floor with no lift. For a young couple with a two year baby we had trouble climb the stairs all packed. Since the restaurant near the apartment was closed, we had to drive for 5 minutes to the main building (were the reception and main restaurant are) so that we could take the breakfast. The apartment was on sale, there were ads. It felt we were there only because it hadn't been sold yet.
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice location in a big complex of holiday houses/apartments. The place is clean and relatively quiet. The pool was clean and the nearby beach as well
Cons: The grocery store on site is rediculous (small, limited offerings, no fresh bread, etc). The place looks half deserted half inhabited. There are plenty of sports and outdoor activities offered but the people at the reception did not mention anything about it to us for some odd reason. It took 15 minutes just to get in and out of the area anytime we wanted to do something or buy something. The area called “beachfront” does not mean you really get a room facing the beach ! Beware.
7.9 Good
Pros: The beach near by is excellent,
Cons: Breakfast at the club was minimalistic, swimming pool ok but not more,
7.5 Good
Pros: It was large
Cons: It’s location to a beach that was undeniable most of the time The access to the pool was not easy the pool was a lot of the tome in the shade The property stated it was beach side and this I discovered does not have beach views I was a play on words Yes not far away from a beach a 5 minutes walk But no views of the beach at all and the property was not designed with a view of anything in mind at all.. I was very disappointed for such and expensive property to have no view at all
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location next to the beach, immaculately kept, and great food.
Cons: The staff in the Maré restaurant were very friendly and attentive, yet when we arrived the first night without a reservation, there was clearly too little staff to handle the many guests around 20:00. An observation We made as well on the second visit.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very nice apartment. Well equipped and very spacious. Nice swimming pool. However, the place is a bit strange. It is a very large area (!) and you need a car even to go the restaurant or to the reception. The sea view is not significant and doesn't worth the extra payment. Also the road next to our apartment was very noisy. About 30 steps from the parking lots that are quite challenging when you have suitcases.
Cons: Our apartment was on the 2nd floor. It was quite challenging to move the suitcase through all the stair from the parking lot to the apartment!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly, eager to help and professional staff. The peace, calm and tranquility in an absolutely magnificent, quiet and clean holiday resort are strong points. The apartment we stayed at was extremely well equipped. Nothing was missing and we were surprised with all the equipment and cutlery available. TVs in living room and master bedroom was great and, of course, the clean outdoor swimming pool and recreational area made for a better experience. The accommodation, towels and linen were super clean, the beds large and the mattresses very comfortable. No shortage of parking right next to the accommodation. An ideal location for family holidays
Cons: The weather seems to be the big problem. If the purpose of the stay is to spend time at the beach, you may be in for a bitter disappointment. It´s not a particularly warm location and usually the sky is clouded until late in the day. Also, the wind is strong and can be chilly. The house would benefit from better soundproofing as well. A heated pool would also have been a bonus. Overall, nothing truly negative to mention.
7.9 Good
Pros: Great location, beautiful beach. Spacious and modern furnished apartment. People are generally very friendly. Overall still a great place to spend a holiday. Great sea food restaurant at the Beach Front.
Cons: The entire complex and the apartment have seen their best years. There is some maintenance missing, as the salty air takes its toll. Many little things need to be fixed but no one seems to take notice. Swimming pool water could be cleaner.
6.0 Good
Pros: the size of the apartments were large and clean
Cons: too far away from anything else... 15 min was more like 30 min!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: the pool and staff friendliness
Cons: no
5.7 Okay
Cons: I find it unacceptable that when we book an apartment on a saturday, check in 16.00 hours, that they literally" throw " us out at 10.00 hours next day, menacing us in a letter that if we do not leave the hotel at 10.00 we will have to pay 100 € / hour for every hour we are late. I have NEVER , nowhere in the world experienced such thing....
5.7 Okay
Pros: well maintained property. spacious.quiet, well equiped for a family , washer/dryer/dishwasher.
Cons: stayed in appartment. slight smell of mildew even when dehumidifier was on all the time.No access to morning sun on balcony( or anywhere else in our appartment) and too chilly in shade ( early july). Swimming pool cold.

Cons:
5.6 Okay
Pros: The excellent location and the good apartments.
Cons: the kitchen of the apartments could have some little things that would improve the stay

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The comfort and how well the property was decorated and clean.
Cons: Nothing to point out.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The Location is great and the golf course
Cons: One of the worse experiences we had. As soon as we entered the apartment there was this humidity smell in the air in the villa’s lower level that became unbreathable as soon as we entered the bedroom. Opening the window was out of the question due to the bugs outside and there was an infestation of flies in the bathroom. Since it was after midnight and the reception was closed, we ended up carrying the bed sheets to the upper level and sleeping in the couch. We complained in the reception the next day and showed photos (attached) and after two calls to the manager and lots of unnecessary arguing and being offered two vouchers with a discount on the next visit they ended up refunding the money in full. We weren’t expecting this kind of treatment in a five star resort. The villas are old and need urgent repairing! A few hours after leaving the hotel the manager didn’t even bothered in giving us a call to apologize, instead sent an email with yet another voucher offer.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It’s location to everything and the lovely outlook
Cons: It did not have a washing machine for people who are traveling this can be an issue when it has everything else in the apartment
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the best and unexpected places. Beautiful, green and calm
7.1 Good
Pros: The house was beautiful and welcoming.
Cons: Dust over the furniture everywhere. Outdoor patio wasn't clean either. Old rugs on the floor. We asked for king size beds and were given single beds. Breakfast selection was poor and the breakfast room was so crowded we had to eat at the bar tables. Security guards at the entry are rude and confused. We were offered, as a welcome gift, half a liter of wine for 4 people.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is good but it gets a little worse outside of weekends. Very quiet
Cons: The light isolation in the rooms it not great. The pool was not clean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The confort, the silence, the space and the space outside.
Cons: Nothing to point at.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff, particularly when requiring assistance and facilitating a late check out at Reception and in the Clubhouse bar where we had a couple of very good evening meals. The villas were very spacious, cleaned every day, and in terrific condition
Cons: Nothing really
6.7 Good
Pros: Facilities and comfort are really great Nice garden view
Cons: Staff and neighbours Staff not friendly at all And neighbors who own their own houses , cause the resort have rent and bought houses next to each other And that owners they think the have more rights than us we pay also and are really rude strict and not polite at all They even threatened us imagine...
7.1 Good
Cons: Rooms need an Overhaul. Seats and Sofa have heavy signs of usage.
