Great for the cost
Checked into a double room with queen size beds. Nice appearance, hardwood floors, beds were mostly comfortable (I have had better, have had much much worse), and a large window to look out of though nothing to look at. The whole place looks newly renovated and up to date, quick and easy check in and out and staff was friendly. I was commuting each day to downtown Chicago, which was a bit out of the way but nothing terrible... 40 minutes with light traffic.
The coffee was not very good in the lobby, and none in the room. There were no lotions or shampoos in the bathroom, only bar soap. Location was a little seedy, but nothing awful, we did not notice any suspicious activity.
Mediocre at Best
Location off the highway
Hotel needs updating. I slept in till a little before 9 and the breakfast was over. And all the selection for their continental breakfast was cereal and toast. There is an indoor pool but it is permanently closed. No comforts, beds were ok.
Not a place for families
Hotel was quiet and fairly clean. Staff members were kind and attentive. The beds we're pretty comfortable and rooms had a mini fridge.
Continental breakfast was a bust; cheap cereal, over sugared juices and plain white toast. There were no other items. No one staying at the hotel was seen eating the breakfast other than the employees. Hotel attracts transients, drug addicts, drunks, homeless and prostitutes due to its location. Hotel is located in high Hispanic and crime area. Its behind Hispanic row and the alley of a creepy low class bar. Hotel outer appearance needs work. Hotel needs some repairs and paint. Rooms were painted sloppily. No tape was used so paint is all over things. Furniture in rooms is damaged and in need of updating. Air conditioning units in rooms are noisy and filthy. They are full of cobwebs and dust and made everyone ill. Current owners have boarded up the pool and spa which makes this hotel even crappier. There are no amenities as even the vending machines don't work properly. Rooms come with basic channels and no movie ones. So, don't expect to watch movies with your children or families. Hotel is located within walking distance of Hispanic row, creepy bar, pizza joint, liquor store, Walmart and a Goodwill. If that doesn't sound terrible; I don't know what does. This hotel isn't for families. Not even ones on a budget as it's not very safe or clean.
