Muweti Bush Lodge - Phalaborwa - Bedroom

9.7 Excellent (110 reviews)

Overview Reviews

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed a superb few days at Muweti. Game drives were great fun and we learned a lot - Mike, Hardus & Lynette were all very passionate and informative. We had six drives and were fortunate to see both elephants & lions (once each), many giraffes/ zebras/ wildebeest, jackal and the occasional impala ;), among others. The food was faultless - plentiful breakfast, a light lunch, then a full supper (with other guests and the hosts); we particularly enjoyed BBQ night! Rooms spotlessly clean (thanks to the cleaning staff, too) and more than ample space. Probably worth mentioning that you are staying in the bush and so there's a good chance you'll see a few bugs around your room (there is, of course, a secure mosquito net). Thanks to Mike, Laura & team, for a fantastic safari trip - we'd love to return some day!
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best accomodation I ever stayed in. We will come back.

Pros: Everything. Mike and Laura who own/run the place are the consummate hosts. Friendly, knowledgeable, nothing is too much trouble. The accommodation is fantastic, food superb, cannot fault it.
Cons: Nothing, everything was amazing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The accomodation itself and Mike, Laura and Hardest were amazing hosts.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of the property was amazing. Loved watching the wildlife at the watering hole in front of the property. If you want a non commercial rustic experience in the middle of a reserve feeling part of nature then this is a must. Mike and Laura were excellent hosts and Lynette our guide was enthusiastic with nothing being too much trouble. We were lucky to see 2 very different lion sightings and we saw a leopard just outside muweti crossing the road!! Loved watching the zebra and elephants from the property. Food was excellent. Would recommend whole heartedly
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place feels like a warm bath! The staff was very good!
Cons: —
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My partner and I had one of the best weeks of our lives at Muweti. Mike is amazing, the food is amazing, the location and the lodge are beautiful and luxurious. What a gem! We hope to come back soon. Thanks for everything Mike!
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was incredible, The reception either. The rooms are amazing with a lot of privacy and amazing view of the Park.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The lodge was beautifully presented with its own deck overlooking the bush to watch the animals and soak up the spirit of Africa. The meals were top notch and the game drives made it a perfect stay.
10.0 Excellent
Mbizi Bush Lodge - Phalaborwa - Bedroom

9.7 Excellent (75 reviews)

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Mbizi Bush Lodge in Phalaborwa, you'll be just steps from Balule Game Reserve and Grietjie Game Reserve. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was a wonderful surprise - I didnt know what to expect but the setting was amazing, with the view out towards the Drakensberg from the pool, and the wildlife coming in to the waterhole. Plus Divya and Bjorn were the most engaging and impressive hosts. I would recommend this over more expensive places. Food was wonderful too. Other guests saw a leopard and cub several times while I was there (of course I missed them....)
Cons: There were no negatives at all - I would recommend this place over much more expensive places in other private reserves around Kruger.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: As with all private game reserves in this area, it takes some effort to get there, but once you're at Mbizi, Divia & Bjorn and their staff with their great hospitality ensure a warm welcome and a great stay. Bjorn does the drives and does all he can do to spot game. Hope that we can go back in future!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice view, excellent hosts and staff, great food, pool overlooking a small “valley“ with game to spot, interesting game drives in the reserve (surcharge), rooms/chalets are nicely furnished and clean, no fences around the lodge (game might be waiting right outside your door), well equiped bar, We definitely recommend this place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was perfect! Great location, small (only 4 lodges), Divya and Bjorn are lovely. Bjorn knows a lot about the animals and bush, we did a game drive with him and heard a lot of stories (and seen a lot of animals). Divya is the chef and makes lovely 3 course meals. They really take an extra step for you, they decorated our table on our birthday! Their lodge is not fenced, so there is a good possibility you see animals when you enjoy your coffee or wine at the terrace. Little Noah is their son and very adorable. Make sure you stay there for at least 3 nights, so you can enjoy the Kruger park and Grietjie ànd have time to relax at their property. Definitely recommend to stay with them.
Cons: Nothing at all, it was absolutely amazing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything at this Place! The rooms was spacious and clean, decorated in a very nice style. The staff was friendly and welcoming at every time. Björn and Divya are an incredible friendly and welcoming couple that both are doing very well. The meals that Divya served were absolutely brilliant and the game drives we had with Björn have been our highlight experiences during our trip through South Africa. On Christmas Eve they organised 2 artists that played typical African music while we have been sitting at the fireplace. They cared about so many small details and did everything to let us feel like at home. The lodge is located very well and it is easy to get there. The next gate into Kruger park is only 30 minutes away. After a long day in the sun we loved to relax at the pool or had a drink at the well sorted bar. Even if we stayed for three weeks it wouldn’t be enough. We will surely come back the next time we are in South Africa!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a great time at the Mbizi Bush Lodge! The owners, a young couple from London, are super nice and took very good care of us. The Bungalows are very clean with a stylish interior. The food is an excellent fusion of South African and Asian cuisine with a different three course menu every night. We had Chinese style chicken wings, ostrich steak and malva pudding mini cake the first night and shrimps with satay dip, Korean style lamb and matcha cheese cake the second night. The Lodge is located directly in extended Kruger (balule nature reserve) without any fences, so you really get to experience life in the bush. Right after we arrived, Bjoern, the owner of the lodge, took us on a 3h safari drive around balule and a 12h drive trough Kruger national park on the next day. He was genuinely interested in showing us all the animals and giving us interesting insights. You can tell he loves what he is doing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful time at the Lodge! It is located in the middle of the bush without any fences, which makes you feel close to nature and animals around. We always felt save. Guests are accompanied to the room after dinner by the host. The food is a highlight as well, it's incredibly delicious! Perfect spot to do game drives in the reserve or drive to Kruger National Park. Highly recommended!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was literally perfect. We had no idea which part of Kruger is good for staying as the area is huge and there are so many options, so we chose this one purely based on its reviews and it was the best decision we made for our trip in SA. SA was amazing but we hadn’t thought that we’d come back until we arrived in Mbizi Bush Lodge. The couple running the lodge was very nice and as the only guests in the lodge (we were very lucky) we could spend some time with the them and learn more about Kruger. They are so knowledgeable about the park and truly enjoying what they do. The game drive we did with Bjorn was amazing. We learnt so much about safari and were impressed about how much he cares about the animals. The room was very nicely decorated and the view from the pool was absolutely stunning. Every single meal we had was very delicious and Divya never failed to impress us with her recipe. We only stayed there for 3 nights so obviously spent most of our time in Kruger but if you read this, don’t make the same mistake we did. The lodge itself is as charming as Kruger. We wished we spent more time just relaxing by the pool and enjoying our amazing food. We can’t wait to come back soon!
Cons: Wished we had more time
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location in a wonderful landscape. Felt more like visiting friends than being in a hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent all round. Fence-less lodge gave a great experience. Food was excellent.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent friendly customer service, great location for Kruger National Park and tastefully designed and well equipped.
Cons: We were kept awake for long periods of time on both of the nights we stayed by a dog barking near by, but other than that it was a lovely stay. There were lots of fine details, tissues, toilet roll stickers and water bottles branded with the name of the hotel, and although it gave an upmarket feel, it wasn't completely necessary-- the place spoke for itself.

Pros: it exceeded our expectations

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff and facilities perfect and brilliant. I recommend to any person wanting to travel and go to the bush for a romantic getaway , it is the most amazing place to go to with all the big Five game.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and obliging. Common areas were beautiful, comfortable and relaxing with great views and great sightings at the waterhole. 'Happy', the game ranger absolutely enthusiastic, friendly & knowledgeable tracking down that lion outside the lodge on the last night was such a highlight. Such an awesome experience.
Cons: Casart is a beautiful lodge, however Pumba (our lodge) could do with an upgrade of linen. Also, whilst meals are prepared with great care and are tasty, they're quite expensive for options offered. However it should be noted that staff were quite obliging to offer alternates when time permitted.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Would of loved to of had WiFi available in room.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff and host Great accomodation Nice dinner in the evening
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very attentive and service was very personalised. The dinner that we had added on was great. We had springbok carpaccio and it totally exceeded my expectations. My husband enjoyed the chicken chutney very much as well. The view from the deck looks out to a watering hole and if you were lucky, you could see animals coming to drink water. We also booked a private game drive with the lodge and our guide, Happy, was fantastic. He is extremely knowledgeable about the bush, very friendly and personable, has a great eye for wildlife and immense passion for whatever he's doing as well. Even though the game drive was a little pricey, it was worth every cent. Our stay there was very enjoyable and great thanks to the other staff Moses, Yann, and Stanford too!
Cons: Nothing to do with the lodge but a tip to would-be visiting drivers - rent a SUV and/or a 4WD as the road in is rather rocky and unpleasant to drive on in a regular sedan.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff and the manager were amazing hosts. all our needs were attended.
10.0 Excellent
