Cons: Low pressure showers, noisy neighborhood bar every night with the boom, boom

Cons: Really can’t see how anything could be improved. Sometimes music from concerts at nearby Mamita’s is horrendous but that is not Mahekal’s fault.

Cons: In room refrigerators would be nice to have.

Cons: The sound from Mamelita's is consistent and all-present from about noon until 7 or 8pm each night. When I say sound, I mean a massive bass that permeates all structures and covers the beach from South to North. There was unfortunately 2 weddings during our stay and I felt terrible for those brides having beach ceremonies with bumping bass. The houses with straw roofs have a consistent "wood rot" smell and there are termites in the exterior porches.

Cons: Dirty floor, stains on duvet, leaking shower

Cons: Rooms, facilities, location, staff and secluded beach. I enjoyed it so much, already booked another trip in early 2017. The central location to Playa Del Carmen was especially appreciated.

Cons: This did not bother me, but it is not a fancy "luxury" resort, so people with extremely high standards or expensive taste might want to stay elsewhere.

Cons: A surprise this time was the renovation of one of the buffet restaurants, what was once an intimate rustic buffet is now a separated modern glass and steel food service area with a longer walk to your table. I preferred the rustic design but was told Iberostar plan to remodel the other buffet restaurants with the same bright white modern sterile design.

Cons: The buffet for breakfast and lunch was only so so. There is no hair conditioner in the bathrooms. Our room had mosquitos but once reported they fumigated and then no other bug issues inside.

Cons: Because of an employée mistake in El Gaucho restaurant we end up paying an expensive( $40us ) bottle of wine .

Cons: Stayed in the family section close to the beach the Rooms a bit outdated, Air condition is weak, bathrooms need remodeling. you have to be early or make reservations to restaurants otherwise its a long wait, The Golf cart transportation can take time to show up and unfortunately most people don't respect who was waiting first.

Cons: THE WALK. They gave us a"free upgrade" but put us over a mile from the beach. The said they have golf carts but there are 400 rooms back there and 3 carts that hold 6 people each. At one point we had to wait an hour for a ride. All activities are near the beach so we didn't end up doing very much. The first day of our vacation we walked 16,000 steps, this is not what we wanted our beach trip to be.

Cons: Beverages sometimes are not good in all inclusive.

Cons: never care for the food in Mexico

Cons: The first day we were asked to speak with someone for our Welcome Package which we knew was for timeshare. We sat with Enrique, received the information and did not accept the request for further information. We were contacted three more times about our "welcome package" even after explaining that we had received the information.

Cons: The seaweed got worse as the week went on. Not the resort's fault but it did take away from the amazing beach.

Cons: The beach is always dirty with sea weeds, the food is horrible the staff are not attentive not greetifull. Bartenders are horrible and drinks suck! If you want to go and have diarrhea and vomiting for two days with you and your children all together go to this place! We were 9 In our party and 8 of us got sick!! And I heard from other quests that people in There party got sick also!! The restaurant is outdoor it's hot and humid and food is not kept at a good temperature so any dairy product or meat will be prone to bacteria very quickly. They do not have enough ice and do not keep food fresh! If they use beans tonight for dinner the left over is served for breakfast! It's so disgusting!! Would never stay at the reef playacar again! So many Mosquitos!!! Be prepared to get bitten and get food poising beach is terrible!!

Cons: Menu variety very generic, bad attempt at American dishes. We didn't even understand why. Food quality subpar - fruits weren't sweet, ceviche poorly done. Dinner was OK. Hotel would not allow me (parents staying at hotel) to access property without a playacar membership card (hotel is located on golf course/ in gated community) had the card thanks to my Airbnb host but was not allowed after 6pm to watch sunset with parents to celebrate their anniversary.

Cons: Cheap 2 star food service. If you don't ask for it you won't get it. This was my fifth visit to the Reef. Every year the overall food service has gotten progressively worse especially in the Italian Restaurant. Four years ago that restaurant had an excellent antipasto salad bar now it has the same salad bar as the main restaurant. The entrees youst to be very good to excellent and the house wine and champagne were surprisingly good, no more. We never went back to that restaurant after the first try, nothing special. The hamburgers at the snack bar are mixed with a filler that does not taste good. I couldn't eat it. The food in the main restaurant varies little from day to day. They use the cheapest meat available but prepare them well and in a tasty manner. Beef is rare but if you ask for it they will get you a steak. Years ago the Italian restaurant was NYC quality, the main restaurant had fresh squeezed orange juice for breakfast, champagne flowed all day, now you have to pay for it after 11 AM and the overall food service was much better. I have to admit I found something I like to eat at every meal and they served steaks after I asked for them. Our bathtub needed replacement, it was cracked on the bottom. Our TV was broken as well.

Cons: Our check in had some confusion based in the american websites that we had read and what actually was the case regarding her son and kid staying free. However they were pretty sympathetic and work out a very reasonable deal with her. They have some guys not he beach that r selling excursions and asking for money to hold your place that don't work for the resort and if you didn't know better then you think it's ok. They are a scam and they will take your money and refund you if you decide not to go. Beware or them!!

Cons: The check in procedure was a nightmare. I flew in from spain and had done the reservation the night before. Upon arrival, they tell me that the reservation is not in the system because the person who takes care of reservations is on a holiday until tuesday! The man tells me that he'll put me in a provisional room. We walk there ( mind you Im carrying my whole kitesurfing equipment with me ) and as the bellman opens the door, we notice the room is occupied. So then we had to go back and I was put in another room for the night and then had to transfer the following day. My check out date was on Friday and I needed an extension until Sunday - I contact the lobby and they tell me they have no availability. While I was booking my room elsewhere I decided to look at their webpage and they did in fact have rooms available. Completely unprofessional people. Yes this is an all inclusive too, but the food is terrible. Breakfast and dinner tastes exactly the same.

Cons: Would of liked a little more excitement going on balcony with pool ementies, but then I can understand time period of my stay.

Cons: If you are looking for a disgusting two star motel, that has the trashiest, dirtiest drunken and loud slobs around, you've found your place. This is at best a 2 star motel. For how much they charge, this is despicable. The hair dryer is the ones on the wall you would find in a 2 star motel, all bathroom toiletries are unuseable and smells really gross. The bed is hard, uncomfortable and wrapped in plastic. There are weird stains on some of the pillows that was really disgusting. There IS no service, and it's really bad when they tried. Management must be awful. Every single time I've asked them to clean the room they had not, and house cleaning managed to try to come into the room to clean every single day for the week i was there for the 3 hours during the day I am actually in the room, all at different times, it's actually remarkable that they managed to do that. Hotel WILL CALL PRIOR TO CHECK OUT TIME TO BOOT YOU OUT. It's very possible that there are prostitutes at this hotel or this is the hotel that local mexican men bring their low end escorts to. Also very dishonest, tries to charge 2-3 times the rate available online, and then when you're about to book, they will then offer to match the pricing, you're better off not booking through them directly to make sure you don't get screwed. Overall, this is a run down, trashy motel that is not worth the money. You will actually experience 4 star or higher service at any of the other hotels in a similar price range including be playa, artisan, or any of the major hotel brands.

Cons: Wifi is very bad

Cons: This hotel offered an all-inclusive that wasn’t truthful. They were severely short staffed, didn’t have food or liquor inventory to fulfill the demand of our group. It was so terrible a part of the group moved to another hotel.
