A system of numerical ratings can say a lot about a hostel, but it cannot describe in what manner it is managed. The exceptional situation of the COVID-19 pandemic tested everyone’s strength and showed the willpower and dedication of Gilda, the owner of Inka’s Rest. I stayed at Inka's rest for sixty-five days during the quarantine with a group of other travellers. Every day, Gilda would cook us all a delicious lunch. For all this time, no two recipes were the same. Every day, the room was swept, my bed was made and all the bathrooms cleaned. The facilities and rooms, clean and comfortable even before the quarantine started, were kept immaculate. The only problem was that the hot water tended to run out too quickly, an issue with the boiler. Due to the quarantine, it was unable to get fixed. Gilda made sure we celebrated every birthday, be it her family or a guest. On the night before I left to repatriate back home, my birthday party was held two days early. Gilda had made an amazing, sugar-bedecked cake for me. All of this, I write to give you a glimpse of the love and dedication that Gilda puts into her work. I have stayed at many other hostels in the past, in Peru and other countries. Only a few of those were managed in a way that even comes close to how Gilda manages her hostel. Traveller comfort is her top priority. She puts her soul into her work. If you stay at this hostel after the world has returned to normal, you should not expect lunch service or custom-made birthday cakes. But for as long as this amazing woman operates the hostel, your warm welcome, quality amenities and exceptional service are guaranteed.
The best stay in Peru: super helpful and nice owned and staff, very clean (room cleaning every day), and super centric. We'd arrived to Inka's Rest just before the state of emergency was declared and Gilda's family took a very good care of us. She cooked for us, made sure we were healthy and happy. We felt safe and welcome throughout this whole troubling time. Would recommend this place to everyone!
I arrived during the state of emergency. The owner, a super woman, cooked for the group stuck in the hostal. It's a calm neighbourhood, but can't say if it's a normal situation
the kitchen and the room were clean. The coffee was good, overall, the hostel was okay!
Nice staff, good breakfast, nice tour that I booked with them - in a good price! Also hot showers and Netflix on the TV All in all great experience
Slow wifi, but the rest was great!
